Loveholic (KBS 2005), Kang Ta,Kim Min Sun Options

3/16/05 – Kim Min Sun (김민선) will costar with Kangta in the drama “러브홀릭 (Loveholic)” scheduled to be aired by KBS2 on 5/2. One of the filming sites of the drama will be at Choonchun (춘천) of which its scenery became well-known due to “Winter Sonata”. KMS will wrap up her current drama “Ode to the Han River”on 3/27, and her role will have a happy ending with the role Kang Soo (강수) played by Bong Tae Gyu (봉태규).

3/31/05 -- Kangta decides to use his real name Ahn Chil Hyun (안칠현) instead of his stage name Kangta from now on. His new drama “러브홀릭 (Loveholic)” is scheduled to be aired by KBS2 on 5/2 following the final episode of “18 vs. 29”. Popular singer Bi (real name Jung Ji Hoon, 정지훈) and Eric (real name Moon Jung Hyuk, 문정혁) use their stage names when they lead the drama “Full House” and “New Employee” respectively. The PD Lee Kun Joon (이권준) of “Loveholic” suggests Kangta to use his real name and Kangta accepts the idea because the Chinese characters of his first name “七炫” stand for Seven Sparks (일곱 불꽃), which has been well liked by his Chinese fans.

i really like this series, also. i think that KMS is doing a good job of acting, though i didn't like her at first. KangTa is a little stiff and has few facial expressions, but i'm giving him a chance. maybe he'll improve. i've always been as sucker for school dramas (love those uniforms). looking forward to episodes 3 & 4!

What a drama series!! Definitely take the time to catch this one. KangTa does seem a little stiff in the first two episodes, but I think he does get better--check out ep. 3 when you've got the time--you'll see.

sure...i'll give you a little summary, and then some spoilers. it's up to you what you want to know. sorry that the summary/spoilers are kinda messy. i'm doing this from memory...

summary:
KangTa is a high school student and Kim Min Sun is a new teacher to his school. One day, KangTa and his buddies are fighting in the streets and they happen to bump into KMS. She not only joins in the fight, but also looks ready to punch KangTa, until she falls over. It turns out that she suffers from narcolepsy, so she falls asleep when under pressure. The next day she starts her new job as a homeroom teacher, and KangTa turns out to be one of her students. Thus starts a unlikely relationship between these two people.

It turns out that KangTa has been held behind a grade, due to family issues. His father and mother both died, and he lives with his grandmother. She takes in boarders to help with money, and KMS happens to be one of those boarders. KMS's boyfriend is a Seoul prosecutor who is very good at his job. He hopes that she will marry him soon. However, he doesn't realize that a relationship has sprung up between KangTa and KMS. The relationship becomes a problem when it comes to the attention of other students. Also, KangTa, with the good influence of KMS, decides not to fight any more. This upsets his old buddies, who depend on his good fighting skills. One in particular, KyungOh, gets very upset and deliberately tries to goad KangTa into fighting. It comes to a head one night when KyungOh and KangTa begin fighting, and KMS shows up. She gets involved, and inadverdently kicks KyungOh through a hole and he falls and dies. She then faints. KangTa takes the rap for her and ends up doing 5 years in prison.

This drama is riveting - I just watched epi seven with English subs. You can get it at clubbox.co.kr/xiaomao123. And the subs really great, and you get little useful & educational information about the Korean culture, use of quirky phrases and practices unique to the Koreans.

The cast i think are well casted, though not high in popularity poll, they deliver - Kangta though quite stiff in his acting compensates with his brooding, intense, pierce-in-yr heart kinda stare/look. The teacher - i didn't like her very much, remembered her as the "witch" in Glass Slipper - is really, really good here - man, she kicks butt but then oh so vulnerable....

I enjoyed the Japanese Majou no jouken, with the teacher - student relationship theme, but i really hope Loveholic will not have a sad ending - i suspect it is(from the opening in epi1)... You see the chain in the music vid trailer in Majou no jouken and here you see the "thread" that binds the two.

The songs are really great, especially the main them...Always..am listening to it now...

i'm watching this drama! its great but i really don't like the twist to it, teacher+student romance. i watched Kim Min Suns little interview on "showbiz extra", she's a very honest person, very sweet.

I have always like Korean series but the plot for this series is kind of a disappointment. I don't like it when they write a love story between a students and a teacher, especially if the teacher is female and the student is a male. I just have something against older woman with younger man. Though, I do like the main male character, he's cute. I'm not sure that I will watch this series yet since I think it's a tragedy, but I think I'll stick around to see all of the review of the series before I decided whether to watch it or not.

^^a lot of people have a problem with the teacher/student romance. however, i feel that it's done well in the drama, and they move out of the high school years pretty quickly, so it's not for most of the drama, like it was in "Romance". and i like that a lot of the guilt in KMS's character doesn't come from the "i'm a teacher, he's my student" problem, but more of the "i can't break up with TaeHyun cause he's helped my family so much" problem.

on a side note: i cannot stand that HoTae character. could he be more slimy and manipulative?

loving dis drama...i think itz good..bua itz starting to drag abit..buz who cares....i dunno y ppl always have a problem w/ studen + teacher love relationships...i kno itz weird..bua itz just a drama...i don't really think it'll happen in real life anywayz..

i really like this drama. the main actor is so hot. this kind of remind me another drama called Romance. when a teacher and a student fall in love.

although i'm not done watching this series yet.. i like it so far.. and i really don't think Loveholic and Full House belong in the same genre. Full House is more romantic comedy whereas Loveholic is more drama? I'm not sure, but i read that Loveholic has a happy ending though (looking forward to that)

I thought KMH would not have acted well in Loveholic. I watched KMH in Glass Slipper, I didn't like her. After I watched the drama, she was acting so well and she had a good chemistry with Kangta. Way to go KMH!

After all, the drama is not bad except some parts are dragging. I guess it is Kangta's first Korea drama.

Can anyone tell me me if the ending is good? Do KangTa and KMS are ended together at the end? Can anyone tell me more detail of the storyline? If it's really good then I'm gonna watch the series. I'm affraid it won't be to good since I don't really like KangTa that much.

this drama wasn't too badd. i think the main reason that got me to continue watching it was kangta haha. he is amazinggly beautiful but aside from that, i didn't think it was dramatic or sadd enough lol :S

yeah...when i saw the first episode i really thought that this series would be different apart from the other teacher/student relationship seen in the past like romance and i will still be loving you (something like that with chaerim). The main theme is really good! Catchy! Reminds of the songs from delightful girl! But then the sad thing happened: i cannot stand the series. It's so typical. Always everyone is crying and the acting is just weak and the same typical cast appeared just like in romance. Girl teacher falls for guy student who has a reputation, but is in another heated relationship with an older successful man who cannot live without her. The illicit affair is found out and she has to quit her teaching from the school. Same crap. I'm just really offended when the idea of the teacher/student relationship only develops and applies to situation where the teacher is female and weak and the student is a tough guy. The only series that did this idea justice was the one with chaerim--really realistic and original even the girl character was original!!!!

YEAHHHHHHHH! LOVEHOLIC! my fav drama so far!! >< ahahha because kangta's in it well..that's not just the only reason..i like the plot alot because itz so untypical from ordinary krn dramas! i was surprised that it actually wasn't draggy since most dramas are draggy epis 1- 12 was like fast paste....then it slowed down a bit to average speed...the it picks up very quickly!! ahahah i luv it so much it made me cry in almost every episode....

I'm addicted to "Loveholic" , it's a great romance drama. I just finish seeing episode 15, next week is the finale, can't wait to see what happens. :yeah

Loveholic is getting really good. havent finished it yet.. but so far so good. kangta's acting is pretty good for a newbie... i wasnt expecting much of this drama because i saw one really similar to this but it was a japanese version. i think it was called "forbidden love" it's with hideaki takizawa! oh he's sucha cutie! but of course kangta is a cutie to as a student!

i really liked this drama..although i also think the whole drama was kinda dragging..kangta looks really good in here..and i must say hes one talented artist..he can sing, act, dance, and compose music..wow..speechless..at first i wasnt used to seeing kim min sun cos she isnt as good looking as other female artists..but i think shes pretty cute now. there were some stuff that werent as predictable as i thought i would be..the ending is a happy one too..must see!

I like this series. I finished watching it in two days. Towards the end, it drags a bit, but overall, I like the series. The storyline was good and both the lead male and female were great. Great chemistry between the two. It does have a happy ending and I am glad both of them ended up together. What they would do for each other......it's just heartbreaking

now... my insights on the drama... (mianhe this is kinda long )

overall i like the drama the ending wasnt the one i expected i was kinda expecting a sangdoo-like ending

there are few scenes, dialogues that reminded me of sangdoo... also the way the main actor loved the girl reminded me of sangdoo... willing to give up everything including their life for the woman they love...

I love the drama in the sense that in the end everything was resolved… nothing was left hanging (ooppsss except the mysterious death of his father… oh well since it’s a mysterious one, it remained a mystery till this day )

on the characters..

kang wook : i think this is hs first drama? i noticed how in some touching scenes he had difficulty crying... (i couldnt see the tears falling) but i could sense the feeling of sadness in his eyes... how toughie he appeared to the other people but they didn’t see that he has a soft-side in him.. how he swallowed his pride apologizing and even down on his knees to beg for forgiveness from the other students just so they wouldn’t pursue the case (so yool joo can continue teaching since she said all she wanted was to be a nice teacher) i was so touched with how willing he was to sacrifice his life for yool joo.. how he was willing to give up his own happiness for her… and how he was willing to kill ho tae if the latter tells a single soul about the truth.. how, even if yool joo found out about the truth already, he didn’t ask her to divorce tae hyun… how he let things happen naturally with regards to that.. oh and yeah I was so touched how he still bought the gold bracelet even if his granny could no longer see/use it..

yool joo : did the rught thing of turning herself in... even if kang wook stayed in prison for 5yrs to save her... it was her conscience that she has to live with for the rest of her life and i guess turning herself in and going to prison for a year is the only way she can do to ease herself of the burden the accident has bestowed upon kang wook's life... i admire her courage in doing so... and by doing this she knew her mother felt sad, that kang wook will get mad.. but she did it anyway, for one reason to clear kang wook's name and as ive said to clear her conscience...

tae hyun : he loved yool joo too much.. I think he was kinda accepting in a way the time yool joo broke up with him but when he found out about the truth he asked kang wook to disappear,, this for me wasn’t selfishness, but at that time, he knew that he was the only one who could help yool joo… if he was being selfish, he could’ve just took away yool joo but then he didn’t.. he talked this out with kang wook and told him that its his call.. also he didn’t let personal things interfere with his career… knowing that kang wook was a suspect for drug possession, he could’ve just pinned him down and sent him to jail, but he didn’t.. and yeah in the end he did resign… for if he stayed in his position he would hafta turn yool joo in… but he cant bear to see her in jail, that’s why he sacrificed his dream (he dreamed of becoming an honest prosecutor since he was a kid, just like his dad)… for his love one… and lastly,,, he let go of yool joo… he even told her to go back to kang wook… which I believe takes a lot of courage for a man to be able to do so…

ja kyung : I admire how she’s been with kang wook all those years.. how she was willing to be “used” by kang wook… and in the end… to finally let him go..

ho tae : his love for ja kyung was deep.. that he even had to conceal the truth (which I think in his personality was hard to do) just so he could have the man the woman he loves be sent to prison… and in the end he also let her go…
