[Ta Kung Pao & The Sun 01/10/04]

"War and Beauty" will finish airing on Saturday and the next series to air will be the TVB and Thai joint production "Split Second". The show's cast, including Patrick Tam, Kevin Cheng, Moses Chan, Mandy Cho, Lai Lok Yi and Marco Ngai took part in a war game promotion for the show yesterday where they were split into two games for a paintball match. Eventually Mandy, Kevin and Lok Yi's team lost and had to give up their backs as a target for the winning team to fire at them. Afterwards, Mandy indicated that her legs and thighs were hurting but she dare not turn around for fear of being hit in the face.

This is Mandy's first appearance in a series and although she does not have a very big part, she still hopes for good ratings. Kevin and Lok Yi really looked after her whilst filming and this made her very happy indeed as she felt very fortunate.

As for the show being aired straight after the highly popular "War", Kevin admits that he feels some pressure, but he will just have to see how the ratings go. He says: "After all the two shows are very different, one is very feminine and the other is more masculine. We all had a very happy time filming and we enjoyed the experience, so we feel we have already won." Talking of there being a lot of gossip in the female shows, but there being no gossip in this 'masculine' show, will this mean they lose out on the promotional stakes? Kevin says: "Men fight more openly! They wouldn't be so jealous or devious because that just looks bad!"

Patrick Tam has just finished filming the new Jackie Chan movie "King Tin Juen Kei" (Direct Translation: "Amazing Legend") and he says that Jackie arranged for a fast food trailer on the set for them, just like they do in Hollywood and this opened his eyes because he has never been treated this well. Later, Patrick will be heading back to the mainland to film CCTV production "Yang Nai Wu and Xiao Bai Cai" where he will star opposite Christy Chung in the title roles. It will be at least next year before he returns to film for TVB again.

Talking of the recent incident of 'acting becoming reality' [Ref: Dicky Cheung and Nicholas Tse were accused of beating up some Mainland actors off camera.], Patrick indicates that he will would like to see how Dicky is and as for one of the victims Wang Bai Zhao feeling that their apology was insincere and insisting on taking the incident to court, Patrick says: "As a friend, I would urge Dicky to write another notice because there is no point in ruining one's career in the mainland. There are often injuries during filming and as for whether it was intentional or not, then this is hard to tell because as an actor, you do not wish for NG's (retakes), otherwise you will be be even more injured with the extra blows. (Some people feel that Dicky does not respect Mainland actors?) I have worked with Dicky before in 'Duke of Mount Deer 2000' and from what I know of him, he is not that kind of person. He is very friendly to even the actors playing the smallest roles."

Also, with his role in "Split Second", Patrick says that he does have hopes for each show that is aired and this time, his hopes are even greater because he has quite a large role. Talking of the audience seemingly preferring the more feminine shows, he laughs: "I believe that the company will have calculated it correctly, after all series have to be varied and I hope that the men will not let us down. (Do you feel pressure from what can be gained?) Of course, I hope it will not be far off the ratings for 'War and Beauty'."

[Oriental Daily & The Sun 08/10/04]

Marco Ngai, Rebecca Chan, Joyce Koi and Priscilla Chik were among the stars at the "October Birthday Stars" celebration yesterday and with a rise in her popularity thanks to "War and Beauty", Rebecca revealed that she shares a birthday with Marco, so they raised their cakes together as birthday twins. Although Marco refers to himself as an emperor [Ref: new series "Imperial Layabout"], 'Empress' Rebecca refused the kiss from this 'fake Emperor', laughing that she does not want to have rumours with him.

Rebecca laughs: "I share my birthday with Marco, Ben Wong and Vinci Wang on 20th October and we did all celebrate together once at work. However, my position is high and mighty now, so I may not celebrate with them now." Rebecca indicates that in her new series "King of Herbal Medicine", she has to wear pauper's clothing and has no servants as well as filming a coffin scene for the first time. " The first scene requires me to lie in a coffin, but I am not afraid because I was told by a crew member that it is good fortune! I received a lucky packet for it."

Marco reveals that this year will be the seventh birthday he will be spending with his girlfriend Joyce Tang and when asked if he is suffering from the seven year itch, he says: "What do you mean? I was itchy from day one!" He then said jokingly that he would consider getting married. As for Joyce Koi who has just celebrated her birthday, she will be having a special celebration with over a thousand fans in the middle of the month.

Marco & Joyce are so cute together! tongue.gif

[Ta Kung Pao 02/11/04]

Marco Ngai and Joyce Tang were on a working date promoting a watch label yesterday and were presented with watches. Joyce says that her boyfriend has given her watches before but not diamond ones. She believes that these things cannot be judged by value and as she likes to collect watches, then she goes for practicality more as she keeps her more valuable watches in the safety deposit box. She jokes: "I don't want them to end up in the landfill." (Joyce is referring to the earlier news about some safety deposit boxes in Hong Kong mistakenly taken to the rubbish tip.)

Joyce has recently signed a new contract with TVB, but will not reveal for how long. She says that as she has agreed to film a series in the Mainland, she will be heading out to Shanghai later and has had to take time off from the company and will not be at the anniversary celebration. As she has only had one series aired this year "Armed Reaction IV", then this is her propogation period and she had given up on a chance of an award a long time ago.

Marco will be taking part in a 'Wind Fire Thunder Lightning' dance at the anniversary. He says that he has been busy with stage appearances lately and plans to buy an apartment on Australia's Gold Coast because he can buy a seaview apartment there for just $2 million, but he has recently been considering buying property in Shanghai too, so he is yet to make a decision.

Anne Heung, Nancy Sit, Akina Hong and Marco Ngai were among the celebrities at the premiere to "Phantom of the Opera" and Anne was with her parents at the event. She reveals that she will be heading over to Taiwan for a day to meet with her fans over there. When asked if her boyfriend would be with her, she smiles that she does not want to discuss her love life.

Marco was alone at the event as his girlfriend Joyce Tang is currently working in Shanghai, leaving her beloved dog to him to look after. However, the dog has had some tumours growing inside its body, but after surgery, they were found to be benign and no threat to the animal's health. Marco says that Joyce loves this dog a lot, so if anything happened to it, he is afraid that he will be the one needing a doctor and she will be very upset.

I think Marco should be given a leading role as the evil guy. He's a really good actor. It's too bad he hasn't been given any good roles that stretch his acting skills.

Marco Ngai's hairy story

Hong Kong actor Marco Ngai will be the first to admit that he is vain. If most women need an hour to preen themselves before going out, he needs two. And as he jokingly points out, the mirrors in his house are all cracked because of his constant “checks”.

But about three years ago, the unthinkable happened. He found that the person staring back was balding. Before he could remedy his condition, it became tabloid fodder in the Hong Kong rags. Ngai’s ego took a beating. It didn’t help that he kept receiving period drama roles, where donning wigs were a requirement.

“There were times when after filming I felt like keeping the hairpiece on permanently!” he said, laughing.

Ngai lost interest in everything. The self-confessed fitness nut stopped going to the gym (as a result the weight started to pile on and he ballooned from 70kg to 84kg) or hang out with friends, preferring to stay at home as he was embarrassed to be seen outside.

What did actress girlfriend Joyce Tang say? “She just told me to take care of the problem. And no, she didn’t mention anything about leaving me,” he added cheekily.

A friend then recommended Svenson Hair Centre.

Looking at him now, it is hard to imagine that this 37-year-old was ever depressed or had hair loss problems. On a recent trip to Kuala Lumpur, where he was introduced as Svenson’s celebrity spokesman, the jocular Ngai was all smiles and kept the media amused with his jokes. With his hair back in place, so is his confidence.

“If I had to choose between being wealthy and having hair, I would choose the latter. I’m not good-looking or cute like (best friend) Bobby Au-Yeung, so I can’t afford to lose my hair. With Bobby, the less hair he has, the more popular he is,” Ngai quipped.

“Besides I’m much too young to be playing someone’s father. When that happens, it’s all over!”

But Ngai can rest easy these days. His career is progressing well. Aside from Hong Kong, he is also busy filming in China and recently completed a serial titled Hong Sik Gei Yik (Red Memories), slated to air in January. He hopes to gain a wider exposure among Chinese fans with the series.

“TVB (Television Broadcasts Limited) has been very good to me, giving me a lot of opportunities. However, I think it is time to expand my horizons, although that does not mean that I will forsake Hong Kong,” he assured.

With his career going places, Ngai, who was sporting black shades because of an eye injury that occurred during filming of Hong Sik Gei Yik was asked if he had thought about marriage. He and Tang have been together for eight years.

“Not at present, especially now that I have my hair again. It is her turn to wait and be afraid,” he laughed.

“But I am a traditional man so I will get married.”

I didnt know he has this problem. All this while i was quite surprise why he became a spokeman for Svensson. I only know that i didn't see him for quite some time. Hope he can become a lead actor soon. He is now playing small role in TVB and last time he used to be a lead actor!
wallace93
I love Marco... He is so cute, handsome, sexy, and so man~ I wish that I could take some photos with him... *sigh* wavecry.gif
I love you, Marco! infatuated.gif
Chantel
Marco is such a good actor smile.gif I love him when he is a criminal, because that is his best acting skill.

marco was AMAZING in split second. some people watch it but take a wrong turn and find it boring, extremely. i can understand why they would say that. but i thought that movie was awesome, marco kept me going. although he was evil in that movie, he was my favourite character. i didnt dislike him at all. and i hated yoyo mung, her character and her the real person. she doesn't deserve him.

anyway, all marco fans should watch split second. he looks the best in that movie as he did gain a bit of weight, and his shades were the perfect compliment to his face. very handsome, very manly!!

Has he really retired? Recently i can hardly see him in any series. Last time he used to be a lead actor and then he play some main role. Now he is like totally forgotten! What happen?

I've just watched him in when rules turn loose, released last year i think... he portray an evil char... this guy can really act, both good and evil roles. It's a pity he's getting too fat...
goolk
sometimes i'm really confuse whether he's fat or he has muscular body
it looks more like fats to me
he's not bad in acting
but he has never been the first male lead
that's a lil sad
anyway, he looks good together with joyce
lkwan
I think he is really muscular. There was once i heard he was very depress due to hair loss and he did gain some weight at that time.
WinSpecToR
I like Marco, too bad hes been getting horrible roles lately, hes pretty good comedy wise.
lkwan
I don't understand why TVB doesn't partner him with Joyce in series. The one that i remembered was Arm Reaction .
Princess Afz
Marco acting is great.. good and bad roles also suits him.. he is muscular but i think he put on weight recently..

Joyce Tang Says Ending the Relationship was a Pity

It was reported that Joyce Tang and Marco Ngai had recently ended their 9 year relationship and on Thursday, Marco announced that they had officially broke up a few months ago. But as for Joyce, she seems to have been avoiding reporters for the past few days and has not spoken out publicly on the issue.

Yesterday, Joyce was filming for her latest TVB series '和味濃情'. It appeared that Joyce knew that there would be reporters waiting for her as she had her make up already done when she arrived. When seeing the reporters, Joyce put down her make up bag, smiled and allowed reporters to take photos of her. When asked if their had been a change in feelings, Joyce replied, "We did split up, but there was no third person. (What was the reason?) There was no reason. (Do you think it was a pity to end such a long relationship?) Ok, it was a pity."

Despite breaking up, Joyce disclosed that her relationship with Marco is friendly and that they still keep in contact. Regarding Marco saying that although he has moved out from their apartment he has still left a lot of his belongings there, Joyce said, "Yes he still has stuff at the apartment. (Are you going to move?) I don't know yet."

Joyce Tang and Marco Ngai End Nine Year Relationship
After dating for nine years, TVB artistes Marco Ngai and Joyce Tang have always shown a loving relationship and there were even rumours that they had already married, but after working separately in the mainland, their feelings seemed to have grown apart and reports suggest that several months ago, they secretly ended their relationship. Marco has moved out of their love nest and has found a new girlfriend, whilst Joyce has just been going straight home to heal her wounds after filming.

Currently shooting new series "Harmony, Taste & Passion", Joyce was supposed to be at work for make up at 4pm to start filming at 5pm, but even after Michael Tao had arrived and entered there was still no sign of Joyce. It was later revealed that she had entered through a back door to avoid the press. From the rundown, Joyce and Michael only had two scenes and should have finished at 6:30 pm for dinner, but the press could only seen Michael coming out and then returning with a take out box. It would appear that Joyce was intentionally avoiding the press, who could only continue waiting for her.

When Michael was asked about the break up between Joyce and Marco, he said: "Don't ask me about these things, no comment! As an outsider, then I should not comment about other people's family issues. (Will you comfort her?) Of course I will not ask her. I have not seen Marco for a long time now, but we used to go and play badminton together. (Do you feel it is a pity for them?) I am not in a position to comment. (There are suggestions that Joyce has lost weight because she has been upset?) If she has a slimming contract then of course she will lose weight! I don't think there is anything up with her during filming though and she is in good form. (Do you think this series is unlucky for the star's relationships?) As long as the ratings are okay, that's fine."

Marco Ngai Admits Dating New Girlfriend After Splitting with Joyce Tang
Caption: Marco Ngai and Joyce Tang's 9 year relationship ended earlier.

Marco Ngai Chun Kit and Joyce Tang Lai Ming dated for 9 years before finally splitting up. Many newspapers in mainland China received notice from readers that Marco was already dating a new girlfriend, who was a college student from Chungking. She even referred to Marco as her "hubby!"

Currently filming in Shanghai, Marco expressed helplessness over [criticism of] his break-up with Joyce. "I was always a faithful boyfriend. We dated for 9 years. However you can not control the course of a relationship. No one really understands what it was like for Joyce and I to be together, thus please don't blame me!"

Marco thanked netizens and fans for their concern in his romantic life. Acknowledging he was dating a new girlfriend for the first time, Marco said, "I am very happy now, since I have someone I love! Shouldn't you guys wish me happiness?"

*sighs~

a college student? I don't know what to think or say regarding this.

It was already a shocker reading about their breakup over a month ago when it was all over the entertainment news, but now to find out that his girlfriend is probably half is age is something else. (okay, maybe not half his age, but still.......)
