Awesome drama ! It became one of my favorite as soon as I finished it...

btw, I have a request :

I'm looking for the title and the name of the singer of a song : It's in the first ep, when eric meets Han Ga In on the bridge, there is a korean song, with a man talking (the translation speaks about being a leopard on the Kilimandjaro instead of a hyena or something like that). This song was not in the OST.. Do someone know it ??? please help me !!

hey is this series good?does it have a happy ending?? biggrin.gif

yes... it's a really good series if you are after some light comedy. It's a story about a guy named rookie whose luck is always on his side. As a result the storyline is quite predicable. And yes it does have a happy ending.

I was glad to watch the Cantonese version of this series..that way i can improve on my communicational skills...especially the part in the job interview. I'll probably use rookie's speech when i go looking for a job...lol.

And yes...it can be draggy in the middle part - like most korean films...but it's good to watch for those anticipating a career in the business world.

yeah. it does have kissing scenes dance.gif what so funny in this series is every ep. the "super rookie's" luck gets better and better... xDDD

After watching a string of typical Korean romantic comedies like Full House, My Girl, Goong, My Name is KSS, 1% of Anything, etc, I was glad that I stumbled upon Super Rookie. It isn't your typical K-drama with re-used plots and familiar characters. At first, I was a bit hesitant to continue watching after the first episode, but I was really glad that I went on. What an enjoyable show this is!
Kang Ho's spirit and determination in life is a shining example of how we can turn bad situations into good. I felt uplifted and happy everytime he manages to turn things around. This is one of the rare few Kseries with 2 good looking male leads!

Also, I didn't know Oh Ji Ho's a natural at comedy.as well.. hah hah ... he's got it all, looks, height, charm & comedic talent to top it all. At first, I wasn't a bit attracted to Eric Moon, he doesn't have the "fall in love at first sight" kinda look, but it grows on you. By the 10th, episode or so, I was searching the net for is info. I rather liked his looks with his hair up, you can see that only on the final episode, and a short clip of him dreaming about being good in English in between. Speaking of English, I was surprised that he can pull of the "bad/broken English" so well when in fact he is very fluent. Evidence is in the clip of his dreams. It's so funny!

This series is a great series overall, with some very well written characters and plot. We all aim to be like Kang Ho and successfully trasnform from a newbie to an acclaimed employee in the corporate world. Having worked in a typical large corporation myself, I can really relate to a lot of situations that Kang Ho faced. Especially dealing with his boss and his supervisor. I think this series nailed it to a tee. It was above my expectations. Go watch it if you need a breather from the sad love stories or funny romantic comedies.

Kang Ho (Eric), a graduate of a provincial university; Lee Mi-ok (Han Ga-in), a female contract worker; Lee Bong-sam (Oh Ji-ho), the stereotypical elite professional; and Seo Hyeon-a (Lee So-yeon), the privileged child from an impressive family background. These are the four “rookie” employees of the fictional LK group whose struggles for survival are the subject of MBC’s hit show “Super Rookie.” The drama, which has recently recorded ratings in the 20% range, is a brisk, lighthearted satire on corporate culture and unemployment among the younger generation. It is eliciting varying responses from professionals in their 20s and 30s, sometimes offering catharsis through identification (“That’s exactly what I went through!”) and at others receiving criticism for unreality (“There’s no way that sort of thing could happen!”). So how do real “rookies” in large corporations view the show? Three new employees from Samsung, LG, and SK engaged in a free discussion on the MBC drama.

Lucky Kang Ho Can Be Annoying-
Cho Dae-gon: Every time I watch “Super Rookie,” I feel like it’s my own story. Even my boss asks, “Did you see yesterday’s episode?” and says half-jokingly, “Although you don’t have Kang Ho’s looks, you should at least try to take after his spirit and ambition!”
Lee Eun-ho: But sometimes Kang Ho seems to lack an intellectual side or even basic etiquette. Sleeping until 10:00 a.m. in the conference room, or impulsive actions like putting makeup on his own face at his desk in order to research the product—that sort of thing is unrealistic.
Kim Hyeon-jin: On the show, Kang Ho always emphasizes the fact that he graduated from a provincial university. But in real companies, not all graduates from universities outside of Seoul act like Kang and broadcast their academic background. On the contrary, most of them quietly go about their work.
Mi-ok Lacks Professionalism-
Lee: Kang Ho once joined Mi-ok, who is a contract employee, in a rally to “abolish discrimination against contract workers” at the front entrance to the company building. I was really impressed by that. In fact, I wish Mi-ok could be portrayed not simply as a contract worker, but a professional career woman who is an equal to the regular employees.
Kim: Maybe it’s because I’m a woman, but I view the character of Lee Mi-ok as representing female culture within large corporations. She didn’t draw much attention when she was in a uniform hidden behind horn-rimmed glasses, but when she appeared in regular clothes with makeup on, a lot of men began drooling over her. And after that, she’s been regarded not as a contract employee, but an ordinary woman who occupies one end of a romantic triangle.
Hyeon-a Needs to Be More Ruthless-
Cho: I think Seo Hyeon-a, the show’s villainess, is the least realistic character of all. Who nowadays brags about being an executive’s daughter in a professional environment? It’s more likely that such a person would try to hide that fact as much as possible. If an executive’s daughter were to receive special treatment, the organization would be in shambles. In this age of cutthroat corporate competition, a company that engages in such behavior would fall behind.
Kim: If Hyeon-a concealed her family background and became more ruthless, she would be quite an arresting female character. As she is, Hyeon-a is rather lukewarm. And Lee Bong-sam isn’t a 100 percent villain either. He experiences his own tears and frustrations, and we see a lot of his human side.
Lee: On the show, Director Song criticizes Bong-sam by saying, “The problem with kids like you is your textbook way of thinking. You always come up with the same answers.” Lee Bong-sam is portrayed as the victim of Korea’s standardized education. The amazing thing is that he always feels jealous of Kang Ho, who’s from a provincial university.
Wishing Bong-sam Would Be Rewarded for His Efforts-
Kim: I guess that’s more apparent because Kang Ho and Bong-sam are on the same team. I have a colleague at work who began the same year as I did, and I feel a sense of competition as well. My desire to do better fuels that feeling. But I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. Rather, I’m annoyed from time to time to see Kang Ho have all the good luck. Bong-sam’s unfaltering pursuit of his goal appeals to me more.
Lee: I believe that Bong-sam has a higher chance of surviving at his company. Kang Ho has a lot of lightning-flash ideas that seem attractive for the moment. But someone like that tends to show his limits the higher he climbs up the corporate ladder. I feel like Bong-sam, who is consistent in his efforts, will come out on top in the end.
Cho: It would be great if “Super Rookie” ended with the message that a person who works steadily toward his or her goal, rather than someone who has good luck or gets chance opportunities, will eventually succeed. Because that’s the hope of all of us real “rookies.”

This was interesting... Well the plot was slightly off.. Yet the message is simple... Finding a JOB is difficult and keeping it u have to kiss and shine the boss shoes.. Haha.. THough the love story is plain and the other plot was off... But the meaning is just that... THe only part that truly moved me was the scene where he tries to get a new pair of shoes for his dad... Getting beat up... And still standing in the fight...
It shows that he is willing to change... And won't give up to break free from the social norm of uneducated and getting a better paying JOB

just finished watching this series. definitely one of my all-time favourites...easily in my top 10 k-dramas. has the lot - humour, nice soundtrack, likeable protaganists in eric moon and han ga-in and fantastic storyline. i give it 9/10. han ga-in is super cute in this drama! i wonder if there will be a super rookie 2?
killjade_skye
I really like this drama coz it's hella funny. But Kang Ho can be annoying sometimes.
My fave character is Kang Ho's brother, Kang Min. He's a real pity, I mean he works hard to get into Seoul University, but his parents never really take notice of him...
And LOVE the way he touches his hair!

I don't find this series interesting, boring actually. Maybe its because I didn't anticipate watching it. The second male lead is hot but I don't understand his character at all. His expressions tell me he's jealous and scenes later he's telling the female lead to stop being childish. His expressions is jealously for everything, nothing but jealously. What is up?

^ sorry i don't know what song that is...
but as for this drama, its simply the best!! i can honestly say that i enjoyed every moment of this drama. i wish it would continue. the korea's secret agency, which is supposed to be somewhat of a sequel to this wasn't that good... so yeah... Super Rookie ROCKs! the music is great too :D
vipertongn
this drama is more of economic success rather than love...not so much emotion here...it focused too much on the guy rather than the whole relationship.
luvshe
i like this drama...
it's nice and funny
han ga in is sooo pretty...
i became like her since watching this series...

Great series.. I watched it half-heartedly at first cos I just wanted to see Han Ga In (became a fan after watching witch yoo hee) but I was suprised cos it's really good. And it doesn't have those cheesey romance or overly depressing parts typical kdramas have (sick of watching anymore of that sh*t imho rolleyes.gif ). Lots of comedy in it also! 5/5!
