I've watched the movie twice and I think is considered quite a good HONGKONG movie! Although many might be complaining about the bad editing many characters weren't all explored but fyi Tsui Hark is planning to do sequels for this movie, so I guess he did that on purpose so that he can add them in the sequels imo.

Even if the story isn't really interesting, I think the beautiful scenery of Tian Shan worth a watch in the cinema!

ive watch the trailer, and it seems the movie didnt have much special effects like stormriders :/

yeah, there is no CGI in it..not like StormRiders at all. not very artistic...more on WUXIA Literature story telling.....

i love this movie....though charlie is not vr beautiful here. why they dont let charlie n leon end up together, wish they were couple here

It doesn't seem to be very artistic at all.

The fighting isn't like typicaly flashy Tsui Hark-style fighting with acrobatic poses and lightning fast movements. It's more realistic it seems.

just saw this movie and omg, the fight scenes kick butt~! I have not seen scenes like that in a long time. Yet, character and story development wasn't too good, left a lot of loose ends So now I wish they would release the original 4 hour uncut version on DVD when it comes out. But yeah, for wuxia fans, this one definitely is worth going to see.

Hmm...looks like a good movie... i hope this movie has some nice fighting action's in it. Too bad too far from HK to watch it

It's supposed to be in CANTONESE? Is it? Wish I'm in Malaysia than can catch it again. heehee. Watched the MANDARIN version. Quite like it. Thinking of watching again. The fighting's good. Lots and lots of fighting.

Maybe it's due to the fact that it's cut back from 4h? The movie didn't really elaborate much on the difference in the swords though. It only made a brief mention of the background of like, 3 swords?

About that super gothic like lesbian assistant, didn't expect her to die off so quickly in the show. Expected her to last longer... again don't tell me it's because of the edits... ahh i want to watch the 4h version.

I've seen this movie and i could say the sword fights are great. Just if you watched it in a cinema it was quite some heavy for your back .

i'm a quasi fan of leon lai...i think he acts better than he sings...hence, i'm looking forward to this movie....is it just me or is donnie yen in a lot of ancient movies?...if it's not him, it's zhang zi yi. anyway, don't care about the bad reviews, looks like a good time waster.

This movie looks really good, cant wait till it comes out on DVD here. I'd really like to see what Tsui Hark could do with Journey to the West, Just hopes its not all style no substance like Legend of Zu *barfs*.

btw, A CHINESE TALL STORY is coming out soon (previous title A JOURNEY WEST) by NICHOLAS TSE, CHARLENE CHOI, etc

Seen the movie a couple of weeks ago in HK. Thought it was kinda disappointing. Only the last fight was ok, story was weak. Maybe the pre-cut version was better

i heard this movie is really boring so don't think i will watch it...leon lai looks quite ugly in this movie...couid hardly recognize him at first when i saw the poster...but Kim So-Yeon is definitely pretty!

Seven swords is already out on VCD, but they only have the mandarin version. Im waiting for the DVD which is going to be the directors uncut version. I hope Tsui Hark is still planning to release the 4 hour dvd because a lot of people have complained that the version in the theaters lacked character development and seemed to have missing pieces to the movie.

Yep no doubt about it, Donnie Yen is the best fighter especially in Fist Of Fury

I watched the movie in hong kong and despite all the high expectations this movie won't bring back the glorious days of hong kong cinema (80/90) I don't know whaty it was, the movie had the budget and story to be really good, but I think tsui hark lost his feeling for making good movies after he went to hollywood. It's a lot better then his last 2 movies (black mask 2 and Legend of Zu) but nowhere near the once upon a time series. I think he should have casted other actors for the seven swordsmen. That was part of the mistake, while initial D or even Ah Sou had a topcast, seven swords has only donny yen who is a good fighter but not a good actor. Leon who is a good actor but not as a swordmen. Still this movie is a lot better then most of the stuff hong kong produce nowadays. My expectations where just to high I guess... I really wanted another "infernal affairs" so that people will invest in the industry again.

Can't wait to watch this movie, because i a fan of almost any ancient movies or tv series. I find the stories of ancient story very intriguing

im really lookin forward to watchin this movie. the cast looks great, the locations look good and as for some of you sayin the pace was a bit slow, i actually like slower pace movies. that way u have more time to really apreciate the movie for wat it is.

Ohh.... this movie looks so impressive. I am definately going to watch this. So many famous people are in it, so cool. I do hope this movie is better thatn the house of flying daggers movie. YOu see cool screenshots, but once you watch the movie the storyline definately isn't that good. So I hope this movie will be different.

I just watched this movie.

I would say that the story and the plot is rather nice but the development is quite awkward, maybe because they had to fit 4h of movie within a format of 2.5h.
Still the action scenes and the special effects are good enough, especially for a HK movie.

But I still hope that someday, they will come out with a "Director's Cut" 4-hour version. I truly think this movie has a nice potentiel.

I'm waiting for the DVD as well! The movie looks very well produced. I'm a bit surprised at the choice of actors - probably just Leon Lai really but he's surprised me in the past. But 4 hours long? that's a bit much! Hopefully the'll have both versions on DVD - one for casual viewing and one for in-depth viewing lol

Even with the prospect of seeing Leon Lai in an action movie, I'm still hyped up to watch this. Can't wait until I get the chance though...
