Yup, i agrees with most of you guys - the movie is boring, storyline weak, presentation is draggy, color is all dark and brown, bad flow - like switching from 1st gear to 3rd and then back to first! The sword play is good but not worth waiting for a good 10 min action after being bored to tears for more than an hour to get to the end part. One of my friends actually fell asleep during the movie! Disappointed, i expected much more from the director. sad-smiley-065.gif

I thought this movie was too long and really choppy. The fighting scenes aren't that good either. I can't believe that it was originally a 4 hour movie.
SupraGambit
i just watched this movie today i think that the beginning is too long very less martial arts performance but i like scene where they fight in the narrow hall and the last fight scene. i also think that some of the swords were pretty cool.
dammo
Was it a good movie? Heard rumour saying its not worthwhile to watch .. what did ya think?

[pls read the 200 odds msgs in this thread and you will know whether it is good or not]
sylvia
There's not much dialogue in it i reckon. I fell asleep watching it, literally lol. I don't think it's worthwhile to watch, maybe for those martial arts fans.
Mogmatt
how come everyone is saying this movie sucks?
i haven't watched it yet, but i considered buying it since i am a fan of martial arts movies. so i want to ask everyone, how would you rank each movie?

Seven Swords sucks. I dislike it. Tell the truth, it doesn't worth to watch it. It was good that i didn't buy the DVD instead renting it to watch. I really don't get the theme of the movie. Fell Asleep!!
dtextreme
the reason why this movie isnt as good is because it is only a fraction of the whole story. scenes are condensed and thers a lack of development in characters.

if they are continuing to make this a saga, it will be worthwhile. its like a single piece of a puzzle, missing other pieces in order for it to make it a good story
FujiSyusuke
interesting scenes but seems like the 7 sword warriors are too powerful. they defeated those generals easily. the donnie yen fighting scenes were hot and leon's slice on the ground too.

awesome movei made by Donnie!...really love his acting and stunts.

Seven Swords is kind of movie that difficult to accept. However, once u accept it, you will like it much. This movie is hot in China but not good in HK, perhaps HK ppl don't like to watch "China type" of movie. Anyway, nice to try!

tis movie is alrite. it's actually sort of good. i agree with the fact tat they condensed many parts, especially the beginning. i was confused at the part where Chalie Yeung and tat person got the sword from the master. i was like wat hell just happened??
sbl123
Oh I didn't even know Leon was in this movie. I still couldn't get past the first 10 minutes of the movie. The beginning seems so boring, so I gave up on it. Maybe I'll give it another try.

i hate the story line ..... they didnt introduce the sword speciality ... my biggest hope to watch this movies juz b`because of da sword ! dissapointed
AngryBaby
smilie.GIF i watched this on my computer. Perhaps it was the quality problem, but the fighting was messy and uninteresting - falling short of Tsui Hark's former works (like once upon a time in China series). The story was very shallow, basically a cruel sadistic maniac going around killing everyone, the good guys come in and wins easily.

The begining was supposed to be attention grabbing I beilve, but it was just disturbing and boring - it took quite a bit of effort to get past it.
The characters lacked development, hard to blame given you have 7 main characters in a space of 2 hrs to show. I had no idea what the swords were by the end. Total lack of chemistry between the Korean actress and Donnie ( I think that's his name). Didn't even care when she died.

Perhaps I am a little harsh, because of my high expectations of it before. Guess I didn't get the normal rush of 'wu shu' spirit from it.
BlueRain
Yes, the main problem in Seven Swords is that half of the swordsmen are almost unknown, then suddently you get their little story in flashback at the end, but done so fast and so late that it feels out of place.
Apart this, I liked it and enjoyed it very much.

Seven Swords. In my point of view i think that it was abosutely brilliant, theres so much good stuff i could say about this film, but at the end of the day its a typical tsui hark film so why shouldnt it be good? lol well let me make my bad points about this film.
1. Watchin this film for some weird reason i felt it was skipped all over the place.
2. The sound track on this was awsome, but it was apparently skipped aswell, it felt like watchin a film while someone was fastforwarding it.
3. The film was too predictable, i could figure out easily what was going to happen next in the film.
4. The ending to this film wasnt really impresive, but i think that there will be without a doubt a part 2 of this film.
But hey its still worth watching, you wouldnt want to miss it. enjoy the film and please come back here and tell me your point of view.
MonkeyKing
Great movie, IMO. Really cool that each sword sorta has its own personality. Can't wait for a part 2.
xBEARx
Well this is one movie i cant wait for...i heard it is really good and stunning scenery.
Yuki88
I have seen couple of chapters of this movie. I didnt like it. I think its pretty boring. so I dont feel like continue watching it.
Snake Eater
I just finished watching the move and i have to agree with everyone that editing of the movie was subpar. There were a lot of missing pieces that prevented the movie from flowing. Its probably because the movie was meant to be 4 hours long. Im sure an extra half an hour were enough to piece some of the story together. I actually thought that the swords were really cool but had a difficulty figuring out the specialty of Donnie Yens sword and its relationship with Leon's sword. Are the two swords magnetic or something? The movie didnt bother revealing much information about all 7 swords. Eventhough it lacked a strong story I still found myself enjoying the movie. I wasnt disappointed because I read a lot of reviews from this forum and knew what to watch out for. I lowered by expectations for this movie in which allowrd me to enjoy it. With all the crap that comes out of HK, this movie is not that bad. I really hope Tsui Hark will make multiple sequels to this movie because I want to see how the characters develop and the functions for each sword. I think their ultimate goal is to go to the capital and eventually face off against the corupted government. That would be interesting to see.
qteepieprincess
I haven't seen Leon Lai in a movie in ages (yes I am quite out of touch with hk movies) and let alone in a ancient style movie! Coolness. I am looking forward to renting it to see. And it's a tsui Hark film too, he's always so good at directing these action-packed films. =)

Hi guys,
I was just wondering is there going to be a Seven Swords extended version? the current DVD is like only 2 hours. Will the 4 hour version come out in DVD?>
and if so when?
tvfan84
the movie wasn't too great, the storyline was going everywhere but the martial arts and sword fighting was pretty good. The acting was average, don't think there was enough emotion. I hope if they do a sequel that the storyline woudl be a bit better.
Aznbadboi
i think this movie is not that bad, i like alot of fiting scenes with the swords and stuff, cant wait till part 2 comes out.
summerflower
Well, I thought Seven Swords was a great movie. I don't know why so many people dislike it or think it's "boring." Almost everyone who said this movie was disappointing have not even seen the 4 hour version yet. So I don't know why people are making so many rude comments on it already. Even though it's not as "colorful" as other movies, it's still a very good movie. I love the cast and the songs on it are good too.
I believe it is worth watching.
caes4
Wow this movie was SOOOOOO BAD.
man even the plot is stupid. how did this novel become such a classic. Its pretty lame and non original.
~everlasting~
OMG! I LOVE this movie! When I saw it I was like whoa, so good can't wait to watch the next one.
mblur
Not that great a movie in my opinion. I was told it was disappointing before I watched it, and I have to say that's how I felt by the end. It's not great but it's not terrible. Those problems that people here have already mentioned, like too many characters and the jumping about editing, I think ruined it. I feel it's been condensed down too much. There were so many characters, I was still trying to figure out who was who half way through. Hardly anything was explained. It kept jumping from one scene to another. And the martial arts was nothing special either. But otherwise it wasnt too bad I guess. A 4 hour version would be interesting.
jn_ng
this 7 swords really a good story however when on movie, it was too many cuts and i dont think leon is better for this...he should get someone like jetlee...
mesha
the movie was ok, but i didnt really like it as the story plot wasnt all that great

Seven Swords

tsui hark's latest creation is about wushu warriors from the heaven mountain who has to come down and stop evil. there is a rogue army who's been wiping out village by village killing whoever knows any sort of martial arts. the evil king has actually sent out orders to bounty hunt all martial artists in the land. the first fight scenes were quite engaging and shows the brutality and sadistic weapons the villains are using. the seven warriors then come down and face off with a band of the army. again this was a good fight scene show casing nice smooth action and cool weapons especially the seven swords. however, after that, the story tries too hard to give character development to Donnie Yen, the most powerful of the seven warriors. they show a love story between a korean slave girl who he captures from the evil general's lair. i wasn't all too interested in the love developments. towards the end of the movie, 2.5 hours later, a weak show down fight occurs which didn't do the movie justice. anyway, a good movie with tons of fights, but not the best story telling. leon lai does an ok job, charlie yeung looks so young, i'm surprised.

I recently downloaded this movie and watched it immediately. The storyline sound a bit cliche (Seven Samurai) but overall it was a good movie with an ending that may lead to a sequel.

One thing that caught my attentions was the speed of everything was happening were too fast. No time for any character development. Though, that might drive the time to run on and on like Seven Samurai.
FaLLeN AnGeL
This movie sound to be a big and good movie. But for me, it was boring and the storyline is too simple.
I think they will make a second "seven sword".
al-23
whole thingy was boring, except the beginning
such a bad movie!!! duh.gif
LordEE
Wow, I was gonna DL this movie and watch it but by the previous posts it doesn't look like its worth the download.
i8again
i watched this, and its pretty much as everyone says - not worth the d/l in my opinion, unless you got af to spare.. and time to waste sleep.gif
malteser
seems like an interesting movie!! I don't like Leon Lai that much, but seems like its been a long time since his last movie, and the story seems OK......!! Have anyone seen it yet?? I would like to get some feedback!!
NOSFTO
The film wasn't too great, and that was obvious before going to see it. I mean, how do you do the story with 7 main characters in it justice with just a 2 hour film?

The fight scenes were good though, in my opinion. Very realistic and good choreography.

As a whole, I think it does well to introduce the saga......Tsui Hark is doing a TV series of the Seven Swords isn't he?
rumikochan
I saw this movie, it's not too bad if they don't have as much main characters! I thought Leon did a fairly good job in here. Can't wait for the sequel!
guancheng87
I want to see Donnie Yen fight in this movie
darthvader98
This is a good movie and the fight scenes were beautifully choreographed. However, I feel that there was no character development.

Just take Charlie Yeung as an example. How could she be one of the seven swords when her skills were so-so only. Most of the time, Leon has to defend her!!!
leokeren
the movie was ok. doesn't really live to its hype.... most people who watched it with me are dissapointed as this is not nearly half as good as they expected...
pcf_james
i wonder if there's gonna be a sequel...
because they showed the evil sword found by the King
but then didn't mention anything after
so i hope there's gonna be one
moomoo1511
The story was boring. But the action was good :)
thehoboking
Wow this is a great movie....the fighting scenes are great, there actually realistic and the moves that the characters use are actually do able...
aznorchidgrl
[COLOnoreferalspurple]I thought this movie was okay and i loved the music that accompanied the movie itself too, There weren't many flaws and i'm hoping there would be a part II. My favorite scenes were Donnie and the Korean girl, how they were both slaves at time and scenes between Leon and Charlie were kind of cute too.
6GDominator
the story is good but the environoment is bad. don know why all the place around this movie is desert. and the camera angle is so blur especially when they fight in the corridor.
del_sky
this movie is great except for a few bits and pieces....
like some of the scenery but definately dont think leon lai is suitable for his role in the movie... *ops ..no offence to leon's fan*
just seem like he doesnt know how to express his acting abilities well.... a bit 'stone'..
