What do you think of sequels with different casts? Do you prefer sequels that change all the cast, such as DIFIV with a whole new cast but same TVB series title and theme concept? or Do you prefer they keep the old cast and add new actors and actresses to it such as Healing Hands III and modern Square Pegs?
Secondly:
If there was a sequel to these series, who would you want to be in them?
Triumph in the Skies II
War and Beauty II
Healing Hands IV
Detective Investigation V
Burning Flame III
Others you can name...

I'd like to have the same cast but with added characters because if it was a whole new cast, even though it has the same plot and stuff, it would still seem like a different series.

I wouldn't want them to change the characters. I always got annoyed when they did that on american soap operas because its just not the same. They should just include new characters and include more ppl. That way I think ppl would want to watch it more.
I would definitely want to see a sequel to Detective Investigation. Why did they stop it?
I don't like the idea of changing casts because it gets confusing. If DIF V came out, I wouldn't want to see a different cast because the story for part 4 never ended for me. There's no ending, no closure. Without closure, how can you begin something new? Might as well give the serie a new name. That's my 2 cents.

They should have just made the series and not named it DIF VI.. but since DIF was already an established show, TVB probably wanted to use it to get people to watch. I don't see that show as a DIF show... when i think of it.. I think of it as a new show.. nothing related to the name...
Most of the time, sequels with different cast and characters are like a remake... same story told with different people.
Bringing in new characters is ok... as a way to transition... new people> meet old people> byebye old people...

If they're planning on making a sequel they better stick with the old cast. They better not use some other actor for the existing character. That would make things really confusing when watching the show and also people might compare the 1st actor playing the role with the 2nd one. Then you'll get all sorts of comments on the actors. So better keep the original cast. But new characters are always welcome.

I personally don't think they should do a sequel if they need a different cast. More often then not it fails to measure up to the oriiginal cast. look at huan ghe zhe zhe 3. It sucked.
I think the only exception is if they have different people plsy the older version of the character. i.e. Condor heros (80's version) when they replaced Felix wong and that girl in the return of condor heros wiht andy lau. That was ok since by then they were suppose to be 20 years older.

Changing the cast for a sequel causes alot of confusion. One of the main reasons why the original is successful is because of the actors. If they change the cast, they may as well just change the name. I can't imagine what TCTU will be like without Dayo Wong.

Sometime is weird to see different cast in the sequel, it just dont give the same feeling.
i Heard that there would be a sequel to Triumph in the skies but Franics Ng will be replaced by Alex Fong Chung Sun. I hope they don't make him play the same character as that would make it bad. I hear that only Ron Ng will returhn for the sequel.
Also I don't really mind different people for sequels but as long as they do a good job in replacing the original characters.

I am of mixed opinion on this subject. They can only do so much with having all the same character around. Especialy if it is part 3 or 4. The ones that fell in love already did. The ones that neeeded to split have done so. What else could they do that is new by then. But when they change everybody at once like they did to Dectective Investigation Files 4, then thy are going too far. It should have been a new series.

I'd rather they change the name.. Burning Flames I and II annoyed me because Wong He was the main character in both.. I got a lil confused when BFII first same out..
I don't mind when they keep the original cast and add new characters.. but I don't like how in HH.. there have been 3 separate love interests for the main characters..
I don't think sequels should have a different cast cause u get so used to seeing those ppl then when u see a different cast it just seems so weird.

personally i find it pathetic to have a sequel with different cast. Sequel should as least include all the major actor/actress that participate in the series before. Also if u change all of them, its basically a new series, then why call it a sequel and just do a whole new series then.

IF there were to be a sequel on Burning FLames (III) that would be really cool, but Wong Hei wouldn't be in it...

....
ALso, they should keep the same cast, since the cast was really good!...

Wong Hei can be in BF III when they create different storylines like what they did for BF II where it's totally different than BF I.

What's a sequel if the cast is different. Then it won't be a sequel it'll be another movie!

I agree, I didn't like DIF 4.. why did they change all the characters? they shouldn't really make sequels with completely different people.. at least have some members of the old cast..

i like it when they keep the same cast, but sometimes they need to add new characters to freshen up the series a little because watching the same people over and over again can get pretty dull.

If it a continue story with the same characters i would perfer the same casts. If there a totally new story I would perfer a new cast. Square Peg 2 will take place in modern times a new casts be alright.
Series like Triumph in the Skies II, Armed Reaction V and To Catch the Uncatchable II need the same casts. Would absolutely hate it if they change the casts. For War and Beauty II a new cast be good. All the old cast died or left the palace. Would perfer a new cast for this series.

as long as they dont change the main characters, its ok. but for example the series that are thinking of being filmed: eternal happiness 2 with michelle's role being played by someone else and the fact that triumph 2 will have all different stars except ron, ...i dont get why they would bother with a sequel...especially a triumph 2....ron has so many series anyways, why not just make a totally new series...could still have pilots in that one...like the one on helecopters/planes starring ekin, charmaine, etc.

I don't like sequals with different cast, if it is differnet cast, it shouldn't be call sequals. They need to main the main characters, otherwise it would be something totally new.

For me, I'd prefer to watch sequel with the same cast so I can easily identify it with the first one (there will be a continuity feel to it).
By using different cast, it seems to lose the originality of the series though and wouldn't seem interesting.
i don mind if they make plain love IV, love plain love II and country spirit~

Having different cast means a different storyline in most cases and thats not really a sequel type, since it's supposed to be a continuation, not a whole new story.
i'd rather the same actors with new ones added to give them more characters and storylines. but most series are very disappointing though

Sequel with different characters would have no meaning. Les forsay Eternal happiness. If they were to have a sequel without raymond lam and michelle yip then whats the point of watching it. Its the way that they act that makes us want to see them. Having a replacement character would change the whole concept of the series itself. Ruining the chances of more viewers

I think its okay to change the cast as longs as the per vious sequel ended good.....then its okay to start a new on with new cast....because it kinda gets boring after awhile with the same cast...theres only so much you can talk about...i want to see a sequel to TITS....because i like that series...and i understand why they change most of the cast...their stories ended.... but stories that seem like they ended but didn't....like to catch the uncatchable...then you need the same cast.
i dont like the idea of changing main actors/actresses for sequels. eg, tits 2....they should just have a total new series. if they make a EH without michelle...then theres not much point because the chemistry and the "feeling" is all different, which is what i think sequels are for- the feel and the chemistry

i think there should be the same cast with some addition elements.....similar to what Healing Hands is doing. However, i think it's definitely not the same without Ada Choi, Steven Ma, and Flora Chan after the first sequel....
Like to see Triumph in the Skies sequel if possible. I was following that series like crazy a couple years ago!!

I don't like series with different casts, I think it just changes the storyline. For example DIFIV, it wasn't the same story as Jessica's and Michael's relationship, but it was kinda of the same type of series like investigating murders. If those series were having a sequel i'll perfer the same cast.
i would like to have the same cast oso .... and the story have to be continued from the last series

I prefer the same actors because watching the series, I would have gotten so use to that person playing that character... and for someone else to play that character... it would change the story for me. I don't know... I would just prefer the old actors.
