this is such sad news...i'm surprised that kim jae won didn't come to her funeral, i bet he's too sad to attend....may she rest in peace...i was so shocked!!! she doesn't look the suicide type, she was always jolly, great actress, korea has lost three talented females...no more!!!

This is certainly a tragedy. I certainly don't understand how this could happen based on the circumstances I have been flowing, but I have say I have a bad feeling about her boyfriend.

Actress Jeong Da-bin found dead in suspected suicide


SEOUL, Feb. 10 (Yonhap) -- South Korean actress Jeong Da-bin was found dead early Saturday in what seems to have been a suicide due to depression, according to police and her acquaintances.

Police officials said Jeong, 27, was found hanged in a bathroom of her boyfriend's house in Seoul around 7:50 a.m. The boyfriend, identified only by his surname Lee, said he took Jeong back to his house because she got drunk while hanging out with friends at a nearby bar.

The police suspect that she committed suicide considering there was no sign of murder, and are trying to determine the exact circumstances of her death.

Observers say Jeong seems to have been suffering from depression, citing comments she posted recently on her personal blog.

A message she posted on Friday, titled "Finished," said, "I'm complicated and I feel like I'm going to die...I have lost my identity."

Jeong, known for her cheerful and positive image, became a South Korean pop culture star in Taiwan in 2005, and appeared in a number of hit television dramas and movies in her own country over the past few years.

If confirmed to have been a suicide, Jeong's death would be the latest case of a South Korean celebrity taking his or her own life. Female singer Yuni committed suicide on Jan. 21, while movie actress Lee Eun-joo killed herself in February 2005.

Actress Jeong Da-bin, whose body was discovered Saturday, is presumed to have killed herself, police said, in the latest high-profile suicide among celebrities.

Jeong was found hanged in the bathroom of her boyfriend's home in Seoul around 7:50 a.m. Saturday, police said in a statement.

The boyfriend, identified only by his surname Lee, said he took Jeong back to his house because she got drunk while hanging out with friends at a nearby bar.

The death sparked concern of copycat suicides in South Korea, which has the highest suicide rate among the members of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

The 26-year-old actress, known for her cheerful and positive image, had starred in a movie as well as popular TV sitcoms and dramas, some of which aired across Asia, including China, Taiwan, Japan and Vietnam.

Police said it was investigating to find an exact cause of death but declined to give further details, citing the ongoing probe.

The police suspect that she committed suicide considering there was no sign of murder, and are trying to determine the exact circumstances of her death.

She has apparently succumbed to a bout of depression as she was suffering from lack of work in recent months, her boyfriend told journalists.

"She came to my place last night. She was badly drunk. I woke up in the morning and found her hanged from a towel in the bathroom," the boyfriend said.

"She was under a lot of stress as she was unable to find work in recent months," he said.

After making her debut in 2000 as a television actress, she received a series of top awards for her performance in comedies and dramas in 2002, 2003 and 2004.

But she was unable to find roles since her last appearance in a television drama in September 2005.

She left postings on her Internet homepage that seem to hint what might happen to her. "I was so angry without any reason. I felt I was dying of stress.... My Lord, are you waiting for me?," she wrote in the message titled "Finished," said, "I'm complicated and I feel like I'm going to die...I have lost my identity."

The National Statistical Office said South Korea had the highest suicide rate among OECD members, as 24.7 in every 100,000 South Koreans committed suicide in 2005.

Korean actress Jeong Da-bin was found dead at her boyfriend's home on Saturday, according to police.
Investigators said Jeong, 27, apparently hanged herself at her boyfriend's house in southern Seoul at around 8 a.m.

Me, my twin brothers and Jessie were eating our dinner that night, Feb. 11, 2007, Tuesday, when this appeared on TV...

"Korean Actress Jung Da Bin of Attic Cat is found dead in her boyfriend's house by suicide."

I was shocked and didn't know what to say. I want to cry and cry and cry but no tears fall down from my eyes. I think I'm really depressed of loosing her...She's such a gem in the Korean Entertainment and it's really, really hard to imagine that she's already gone. But the hardest part there to accept is knowing that she's dead by suicide...I can't accept that she'd left.

And while I'm reading the article of Yonhap News. My Daily.com, Stardocu.com about her death, my eyes were fulled of tears but still, no tears fell. Woah, I can't accept this...I think my heart is full of distress and anxiety...

She's really my idol and I don't know how to move on now that she's gone...condolence to her family, all of her friends in showbiz and all of her hard-dying fans like me...

But, it's her fate and no one can changed it...

My final message for her???

Da Bin, wherever you are, we (I know), your avid fans, will really, really miss you a lot...hope you're very, very happy now in your life there....up in the sky...into heavens...

I really thank you very much for sharing your passion and talent with us...

I know that there are some hardships that you've gone through but I hope you didn't lose your faith and you just held on tight in that discrimination 'cause later on, some shine will appear and shower you graces...but, the hope was already gone...because you, too, was gone...

it's really sad hearing the news that she's already gone for good...i was really suprised that news on local news program here in the philippines...whatever her reasons maybe let's just pray for her soul...she's really a big lose to korean entertainment...i was trying to finish watching her drama on dvd when i heard the news, and on that same night, i really can't sleep because i really can't believe that she's already gone...may she reat in peace and i hope she already find the true happiness that he's been looking now that she's with our lord....

even my mom, who's also a follower of jung da bin's drama couldn't believe that da bin's already gone...

I watched startalk last Saturday and it says that she wrote a suicidal note on her blog... is it true. I'm really shocked that she did it. She was a good actress.

Still in total disbelief over her death two weeks later.
After hearing her death I was soo upset, I cried and it felt like I lost someone close to me. But it hurt more because she was the same age as me and now her life is gone, she will never experience growing old.

She was such a beautiful woman and a talented actress. I really wished someone was able to help her. She must have felt so down and lonely deep down and had nobody to turn to. Nobody to talk to. She must have felt that was her only way out.

I just hope that wherever she is, she finds peace and everlasting happiness.

Ive been on there a lot lately, there are episodes of Attic Cat and My Sister in Law and also He Was Cool which I just been watching. I love that film.

i was looking around for any new works from her but i came across such a sad and shocking news instead. i really couldnt believe it. she seemed like a very cheerful and strong person from the way she portrayed the characters in the dramas.
