Eason, Miriam & Kelly to Represent HK & Macau as Olympic Torchbearers

On January 26, 2008, Samsung held a press conference where they revealed the list of torchbearers for the Hong Kong and Macau leg of the traditional torch relay for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Three groups of representatives, a total of 7 individuals, consist of 3 artists, 2 athletes and 2 citizens were chosen to represent Hong Kong and Macau as torchbearers in the torch relay.

The 3 groups of representatives represent 3 different fields of work. The 2 citizen representatives (阮維新 and 林冠成), who were chosen by citizens of Hong Kong and Macau, had to show their spirit of perseverance and their abilities to overcome obstacles, difficulties and challenges.

The 3 celebrities, Eason Chan frequently participates in charitable events, Kelly Chen is a current World Outstanding Young Persons and Miriam Yeung is a current Hong Kong Outstanding Young Persons.

The 2 athletes, 梁洪敏 represents Macau and 葉少康, who represents Hong Kong, is the first Asian athlete to qualify for the Equestrian event at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. 葉少康 was born with brain convulsions and relied on walking with crutches, but with a strong will and with hard work and effort he has become a distinguished Equestrian.

On May 2nd and 3rd, these 7 representatives will carry the torch and represent Hong Kong and Macau in the torch relay tradition. Eason, Miriam and Kelly have all expressed they will work out before the torch bearing event to be in top condition and avoid embarrassing Hong Kong and Macau.

Eason says that the last time the torch passed by Hong Kong was 44 years ago during the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games, since this year's Olympic Games will be held in Beijing, Chinese people are able to participate and it is very meaningful. Although Eason cannot bring his daughter along with him during the upcoming experience, he will explain the tradition of torch relay to his daughter. Eason jokes that each of the representatives will need to carry the torch for 200 meters and representing Hong Kong he will jog slowly hoping there will be more pictures of him taken. He says, "Our outfits will be organized by the committee, but if it were up to me I would like a sleeveless top and short-shorts, so I can look like a professional track and field athlete." When asked if his family will be there to watch him, he responds that it's too bad that they can run with him, but they will be there to support him. He says he wants to watch the Diving event and has asked others to help him get tickets.

Miriam will be representing the Macau leg of the torch bearing and says she is finally going outside of Hong Kong and will be passing the torch to the Beijing representative, she is extremely proud to be representing the Chinese people. Although the event will be held in May, Miriam is training and Thai Boxing every day to increase her heart and lungs function for a competition next month. Miriam really wants to go to Beijing to attend the Olympic Games, but she knows that all hotels have been booked. She then thinks up of an idea and laughs, "Mr. Lai (Leon) is from Beijing, he should own property in Beijing. Myself and some company members should make up a crowd of about 20-30 people, maybe we could borrow his property and we could all go together. I'll promise I won't break his house."

Kelly Chen will run to get back into condition. Since she will be holding concerts at Hong Kong Coliseum in June, the running will help her out. Kelly is proud and nervous about being a torchbearer. She points out that all Chinese people will be watching her and she does not want to embarrass them and will ask all family, friends and people that know her to come support her. She says, "I will not spray hairspray into my hair and I will make sure that my hair is tied up to avoid any possibility of my hair setting on fire."

Eason Chan to Hold Concert in Guangzhou in April

Hong Kong singer Eason Chan will bring his "Moving on Stage" concert to Guangzhou on April 14, the seventh station of the world tour which has stormed Hong Kong and Taipei.

The star attended a promotion in Guangzhou on Monday and talked about the concert with fans and the media, reported sina.com on Monday.

The concert theme was inspired by the glamorous concerts of pop queen Madonna, Eason Chan said, "Her concerts have great visual impact as there are always people dancing and moving on the stage. It is like she's having a party."

Eason Chan says he may release several new songs since he is working on a new album in the meantime.

Hong Kong super star Andy Lau was invited to his Hong Kong concert to guest perform but there will be no special guests in Guangzhou as "all the fans are my guests," the singer said.

Eason Chan Receives Hundreds of Easter Eggs from Australian Fans

Soon after making a trip to Australia to film for the TVB program ‘Last Paradise’ (塵世美), Eason Chan has returned to the Down Under to hold two concerts. The singer has received hundreds of Easter eggs from the local fans, including one that had been specially wrapped in his concert poster.

Yesterday Eason flew from Sydney to Melbourne to prepare for tonight’s sell out concert. As it is his first time holding a concert in this city, Eason has received much support from fans, who have posted messages of support online. In order to thank his fans for all their support, Eason has been trying his best to keep fit. To avoid not being able to fit his costumes, Eason held back from eating during the Chinese New Year period and has been doing 100 sit ups and push up every night in his hotel room.

Torch Bearers Hold Press Conference
Pouty Eason Chan Loses Good Spot to Leo Ku

30 April, 2008

Thanks Serena for this long translation
Source: MingPao

Yesterday, the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong publicly announced the 120 torch bearers for Hong Kong at the Regal Hongkong Hotel in Causeway Bay. The artistes who would be torch bearers include: Eason Chan, Leo Ku, Kelly Chen, Jackie Cheung, Andy Lau, Alex Fong, Liza Wang and others. All the artistes were in attendance except for Andy who was in Beijing. The group of artistes and other torch bearers arrived at the hotel early. The torch bearers were not required to attend the press conference. In the end, only Leo and Eason went to the press conference. Those two have been at war with each other over awards all year long. The location of the press conference was small and there were a lot of people so it became chaotic. The press conference was not organized and there were no specific spots for the torch bearers to stand (for pictures). Leo was successful in finding a good spot right in the middle. The organizers and speakers also asked Leo to share his feelings. Eason was late in arrival so he was forced to stand to one side. He was standing around the entire time. “Mr. Most Popular Singer” was left out in the cold. No wonder Eason showed a bored look. He was pouting.

After the press conference, Eason left in a hurry. Reporters phoned him and asked why he was bored during the press conference. Eason clarified that he wasn’t unhappy and he was actually very excited. He is looking forward for May 2nd to come. Why were you sulking? Eason said: “There were a lot of people in there. I unconsciously pouted.”

On the other hand, Leo was able to speak at the conference and he appeared to be jumping for joy. He stayed until he completed all the interviews before leaving. He indicated a relaxed and joyful mood is most important when relaying the flame. He also said that he was familiar of Nathan Road in the Tsim Sha Tsui area. You get to keep the torch after you have completed the flame transportation. Leo made it known that getting the torch was more important than any award. His parents want to witness this important moment so they are making special arrangements to return to Hong Kong. Leo wanted to run the Shatin area relay. Do you feel you lost out? Leo said: “Nope. Any area will be a part of Hong Kong. I feel honoured and ecstatic.”

Kelly said her relay number was 007. Alex will pass the torch to her and she will run 200 metres near the mosque in Nathan Road of Tsim Sha Tsui. She will have half an hour to complete the run and then pass the flame to Leo. She admitted that it was her glory to be a torch bearer. She revealed the organizer showed them the poses to receive and pass on the flame and their running speeds. The organizers will give them the appropriate athletic suits on that day. She joked that she will look bad when she tucks her shirt into the jogging pants. Kelly said: “There were people who did demonstrations. We can’t jog too fast or slow. It was simple, too simple! Most importantly, we have to keep a smile and wave to the crowd. Maybe I would do a few dance steps!” Relaying the Olympic flame is an important task; is there any pressure? She said: “No. Leo and Alex will be there with me. They are smart guys. I don’t have any pressure. (“Did you invite your family to come watch?”) I won’t. There will be too many people. They can watch it on TV. I would invite my fans to come instead.” Kelly isn’t worried that it would be a chaotic day. She is not worried that someone will try to snatch the flame. She said: “Hong Kong is peaceful. There will be a lot of people that day. They won’t get to me. I won’t be that lucky to have someone snatching my torch!”

Andy, who is in Beijing, will be running the fourth position in the relay. He will be the first artiste relay the Olympic flame. He said: “It is an historical moment for China to hold the Olympics. It is an honour to be able to be a torch bearer.” Jackie will run the Wan Tsai section going to the Golden Bauhinia Square. He expressed that he was excited to represent Hong Kong in the Olympic flame transportation. He said that he exercises each day so it won’t be a problem to run 200 metres.

Earlier , Eason Chan accepted Channel V's interview and promoted his new album,he noted Khali Fong's effort to compose the song for him,he praises that Khali was an outstanding musician and poet, when he received the demo of the song, and sees the name of the song he already had the "feel" that this is a good song.He also recorded English songs, making a collection of songs of different elements.

Eason's duty in the house was to play music with his daughter.

Eason speaks about music and also his daughter,he said at home he would often play "Amy Winehouse's"song and his daughter will follow and sing. Lately, his daughter's favourite song was "rehab". Eason laughs and said a 3 year old half little girl singing such mature songs, was very funny..

Eason Chan is honoured to be on the front cover news with Andy Lau

Eason Chan was originally planned to go to Sichuan to help the victims but his plans were temporary stopped by Andy Lau. Eason smiles and states that it was a honour to be on the front cover news with Andy Lau. But he doesn’t want to respond to this news. However he did state that he had considered plans to visit Sichuan but due to busy work schedules these plans never worked out. He also realises that he isn’t a professional emergency crew member and would be afraid to interfere with their work. “Also while I’m there perhaps if I drink more than a sip of water, the relief victims will have less water to drink. That’s why I only donated money and will be preparing to do a big performance show”.

A magazine article claimed that Eason’s comments about drinking water was personally targeted at Andy Lau. Eason replies by saying “It’s nothing, everyone has a different view on any aspect. Actually if a person wants to do something, nobody can stop them. All that matter’s is that they are willing to help the victims”.

Eason Chan's apologies for having a small wedding

Following the marriage announcement by Kelly in her last concert, Eason was asked if Kelly should have done the announcement before the show. Eason replied" I don't think so, Kelly wanted to share this happy moment with her fans"

He disclosed that he and Hilary didn't have a larvish wedding. He explained "It was because I see reporters everyday. The day of the wedding was my only day off. I don't need to see reporters. On the day, news of the wedding broke outbroke out and a lot of reporters turned up. My manager told me to have some pictures taken. But I refused because I don't want to be like working in front of camera on my wedding day. I have many friends, but I had only invited about 100 guests. I know I hadn't invite people I should have, I am sorry, but there is nothing I can do about it."

When asked if he would give Kelly some tips about having children, he replied " I'll tell her only if she asks me".

Eason Chan’s daughter Loves Amy Winehouse

Hilary Chui (Eason’s wife) and famous model Qiqi (Simon Yam’s wife) attended the (小思維兒童成長培育中心) opening event with their daughters. Chan Hong Tai (Eason’s daughter) and Hilary wore white outfits. During the event Hong Tai accidentally got the outfit dirty and Hilary had to clean it up for her. Qigi’s daughter and Hong Tai get on very well together but both seemed to be quite shy. When the reporters took photos Hong Tai hid behind her mother. Qiqi’s daughter also shouted out “No Picture”.

Hilary smiles while saying that her daughter loves singing. Her idol is the UK singer Amy Winehouse and she loves her. She states that she particularly likes Amy’s Big Beehive hairstyle and big eye lashes. “She likes to listen to her father sing but prefers Amy a lot more. She knows the song “Rehab” off by heart”. We mentioned that Amy’s songs more or less are about drugs and also famous for being the Queen of drugs in the Music world. We asked if Hilary was afraid that this will influence her daughter growing up. “I’m not afraid, When she get’s a little older we will explain what she’s singing about to her”. She states that she also enjoys listening to Ringo Shiina and Linkin Park songs. Also because Joey Yung had often been visiting her she had started to listen to her songs.

Qiqi reveals that her daughter drew a picture for Simon on Father day’s of Paris’s Eiffel Tower. She also drew a sun and rabbit on two of Simon’s ties as presents. This made Simon extremely happy. “During the summer holidays I will go to Europe to film an commercial. During that time I will take my daughter with me to see Paris’s Eiffel Tower. But Simon hasn’t got time to go with us”. She explains that her daughter misses Simon a lot and doesn’t like him working away. She hopes he can stay at home more often.

Eason Chan adds his own personal touch to his new Mandarin album

Eason was the biggest winner earlier on this year for winning music awards. That made him even more determine to produce high quality records. His new Mandarin album " Don't want to let go " will be released on 30th June. The animation of the 10 songs were illustrated by Stella So. He is hoping his fans would have fun looking at the lyrics. Eason has given a lot of thoughts effects for this album from the first track " Road.... has always been there" (路…一直都在) to the last one " What comes after" ( 然後怎樣 ). He used " Don't want to let go" as the theme because there are many good memories in people's life that they do not want to forget, not even for a moment. Those two songs said it all. If people hold on to their good memories, they will find there is a road ahead. The other song " Don't need to speak " (不要說話) talks about love and microphone. He finds this song very chanllenging.

Eason Sells Voice & "Painting" of Life

Eason Chan's upcoming Mandarin album Don't Want To Let Go 不想放手 will be released on June 30, 2008 in Hong Kong and July 1, 2008 in Taiwan and is produced by Golden Melody Award Winning Producer Jim Lee. After much time consumption and Eason's high demands for quality and perfection this album will, once again, not feature photos of Eason.

As for the title of the album, Eason reveals that after 11 years in the music industry he thought about letting go and have his production team work on the album concepts and details while he focused on his singing only, but with his 'wanting perfection' mentality he realized that he had an opinion and wanted a say in anything related to music. Even after 11 years he still "doesn't want to let go."

For this upcoming album, Eason's demand was artistry and with such demand he invited well known Hong Kong illustrator Stella So 蘇敏怡, who had entries at the International Film Festivals of Berlin and Hong Kong. Stella So will be illustrating 10 pictures for 10 tracks on the upcoming album. Staying true to his "not wanting to let go" Eason actively took part in discussion of the pictures Stella So will illustrate.

With the continuous pushing back of the release date and the ongoing promotions of the album in Taiwan, there are worries that after the promotions there will be no albums to sell. A Universal Music representative responds that they will support Eason and all his ideas so they could present his fans with the best possible final product.

Stella So graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University School of Design. Her graduating piece, the animated 好鬼棧, won the Animation Award at the 8th Annual Hong Kong Independent Short Film in 2002. She was then invited to participate in a number International Film Festival exhibitions where she illustrated the memories of Hong Kong culture and future expectations.

Eason Chan is confident of Khalil Fong winning the music award this year

Eason Chan was in Taiwan yesterday for the press conference of his new mandarin album. During the event, his company prepared a golden microphone as a gift to him, to congratulate him beforehand of winning the award of best male singer. Eason however was unconfident of himself winning the award, he expressed that he thinks the chance of Khalil Fong winning the award this year is higher than him. "5 years ago before the award ceremony, everyone was confident that I will win, however this year, when the people say that to me again, I dont think I will have a big chance of winning."

When Eason is recommending the song "倒帶人生" that Khali Fong has composed for him, he praises that Khalil is a musical talent. "I dont usually listen to R&B but the Demo of this song had moved my heart."

And the 2008 Metro Showbiz Hit Awards Goes to

Almost every star attending the 2008 Metro Showbiz Hit Awards was entitled to a prize on Wednesday night, Web portal sina.com.cn reports.

Unlike past ceremonies, in which one person dominated the awards, this year's event awarded prizes to singers old and new. Eason Chan, a veteran Hong Kong singer and actor, won five titles, including the Most Hit Singles. The Most Popular Singer went to familiar faces Joey Yung, Anson Hu and Richie Ren.

Rising force IRENE-A claimed the Most Hit Albums for the band's "Canning's Blues & Songs by the Beatles."

The ceremony also featured many new stars born from singing contests, such as mainland singer Chen Chusheng and Jam Xiao Jing Teng from Taiwan. Chen was awarded the Most Promising Singer title.

Michelle Ye & Eason Chan

Eason is Taught the Tony Leung Chiu Wai Method of Acting

Alan Mak and Felix Chong (Infernal Affairs 無間道, Initial D 頭文字 D, Confession of Pain 傷城) present Lady Cop & Papa Crook 大搜查之女, starring Sammi Cheng and Eason Chan. The film marks Sammi Cheng's return to acting in two years (Lady Cop & Papa Crook was filmed in 2007) and is expected to be released in theaters on September 11, 2008.

The near two-minute trailer was released on August 1, 2008, and as seen, the fast paced clips and rich appealing background music displays a sense of suspense and tension. Also seen is the complicated storyline that gives the actors an expanded area for acting interpretation. Eason gives up his comedic side for internal emotions and Sammi delivers an explosive performance. It seems that Sammi's two year break enabled her acting to "explode" to a new level. Some of the supporting actors also shine with impressive performances; and with some camera angles reminiscent of Infernal Affairs there's no second guessing that this film is from the minds of Alan Mak and Felix Chong. The two directors also reveal that the suit Sammi wears in the film is custom-made and modeled after the suit Andy Lau wears in Infernal Affairs.

As for Sammi's performance, the two directors feel that she is the role model for the current generation's white-collared women, her music and movies are topics of discussion for modern women, and that is exactly what her role calls for. Also, the two directors feel that Eason's past roles are "Siu Ji" (小子) roles, but they feel Eason can play roles of "Siu Sung" (小生), like those of Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Andy Lau. During filming, the two directors taught him to use Tony Leung's method of acting, bringing out a new Eason for the audience to view. It is noted, when filming concluded the two directors took various clips to show industry friends and the response was, "[I've] never seen such a charming Eason."

Elsewhere, the trailer shows one clip of Zhang Guo Li 張國立. Zhang Guo Li has never participated in a Hong Kong film and this film was an "exception" for him. One wonders if this film will mark his entering into the Hong Kong film industry.

Picture: Eason Chan with his look alike

Yesterday Eason Chan was guest of honor at the Commercial Radio 萬世巨星大作戰之你個樣樣 show. They had invited someone who looked like him to interview him. There has been rumors that when his contract expired from Cinepoly Records, he will move over to East Asia Entetainment. Eason stressed that was not true, because he has a very good working relationship with his record company. "My contract with Cinepoly is not expired yet, still sometime to go. Therefore I will continue to work for them. My working relationship with them in OK."

Eason was asked about the rumors that he wanted to set up Rookie Alumni Students Association 新秀同新會. Eason said he did think about it. Miriam Yeung and Denise Ho were also interested. They are hoping through the association they could continue Anita Mui's contribution to the the society. But they need to find out more about it first.

Host Jim 少爺占 and Donald asked Eason if he would slap his daughter. Eason said there is no need for punishment, he only needs to stare at her, she would be scared. When they asked him what would his reaction be if he finds out his 8 years old daughter is dating? Eason laughed saying he would be the father-in-law than. "Dating at 8 is sweet. She is already talking about marrying the boy living downstairs."

Eason was asked what is the most difficult thing for him to imitate? He laughed and said he is bad. He wouldn't do what other people do. Reporter asked if he has a temper? Eason said he has cooled down a bit. "I don't have a temper now. I feel much happier too. I was hot headed before. Now even the fans said I am more careful of what I say. I can't be bothered anymore. I understand the difficulty the media has to face sometimes. If I wasn't like that before, I wouldn't be like this now."

Eason Talks About Switching Companies, Money, Wife Acting Again & Being Replaced in the Industry

Appearing at a CRHK event yesterday with good friend Eric Kwok, Eason Chan answered questions regarding an ongoing rumor about East Asia Records boss Peter Lam recreating Capital Artists Records and possibly signing Eason to the newly recreated label. "I can say that there is no such thing because there is some time left in the cooperation with my company. Our relationship is great and I am very happy," Eason responds. However, Eason admits to speaking to Denise Ho and Miriam Yeung about creating a Capital Artists Alumni Association to continue Anita Mui's philantrophy.

The hosts, I Love You Boyz, asked Eason how much money he had in his bank account and Eason replied, "Which account? Actually I'm not too sure, I leave it to the bank to care for it." They then asked if he has a billion dollars and Eason answers, "How could I?!"

When asked if he would support his wife Hilary Tsui if she wanted to act again, Eason answers, "If it was before we got married then it would be up to her but that is not our current situation. I feel that if she returned to acting she find it troubling, plus we have a daughter to take care of." He later contradicts his statement by saying, "But if she really wants to act again I would support her."

Being labeled the current "big brother" (一哥) of the Hong Kong music industry, Eason says he isn't afraid of newer singers taking his 'position'. "I am not afraid, this is bound to happen sooner or later...I don't feel that anyone can completely replace another person so it's not a big deal," Eason says.

Admiring Eason: G.E.M. Tang 鄧紫棋

Being called a Cathy Tsui lookalike, G.E.M. Tang is a newcomer to this year's Hong Kong music industry. Although she is only 16 it is being said that she has the voice of Mariah Carey and she claims Eason Chan as her idol. When she was only 13 years old, she was organized to film a Green Box commercial alongside Eason, she says, "At the time, the other girls and I were afraid to make the first move to talk to him and unexpectedly he came over to talk to us, I felt he was very nice." It has been 3 years since and Eason no longer recognizes G.E.M., but because she excelled at her school's singing competition she was able to represent her school in competition against other schools and saw Eason again. At the time Eason spoke to another judge and had praise for her, which caused her to be so happy that she couldn't sleep for a week.

Eason Cleared of Infidelity Accusations

l-r: Raymond (Eason's assistant), Eason, 'unknown female'

Eason Chan has recently been busy in Taiwan promoting his newest album, Don't Want To Let Go, when unexpectedly, yesterday, reports surfaced that he was cheating on his wife.

Just two days ago, despite the rain, Eason performed for his fans during an autograph session and ended up wet from head to toe. The 'thanks' he got in return was a magazine publishing photos and a story accusing him of infidelity. The story alleged he had dinner with an 'unknown female' and afterwards went back to his room. Universal Music clarified that the 'unknown female' was a Universal Music Taiwan employee and stated that the reports are made up. Eason issued a response through a Universal Music promotions employee, who said, "[The pictured female] is a Taiwan co-worker, after work they went out for a meal and afterwards the female employee brought Eason back to the hotel, but did not go to his room. They went their separate way to rest."

Not being affected by the reports Eason returned to Hong Kong and continued work as usual filming a MV for his newest Cantonese song 歌頌, which ended up taking 8 hours. Afterwards, Eason was friendly and polite, saying, "Sorry for making you wait." As for the reported infidelity accusations, Eason says, "I'm not going to respond."

Through a telephone interview, wife Hilary Tsui expressed that she fully trusts her husband, saying, "Of course I trust him! I won't mention it [to him] and I don't care [about the reports]. I knew there was something. Once I got to the street there were reporters following me, I just didn't know what he did. I even told him [about the reporters following.]" When asked if she immediately asked Eason about the accusations when she first heard of them, Hilary responds, "I don't need to ask him. If I ask, it means I don't trust him. We don't need to express our trust in each other thru words." Hilary has been busy taking care of their daughter Constance Chan and is busy with the upcoming school year opening; therefore, she doesn't have time to deal with non-relevant things.

After hearing about the accusations, manager Kaite Chan was not happy, saying, "Son (Eason) has always been a great father and great husband, which is why these accusations should not have appeared with his name in the first place. The 'unknown female' was with Eason because of work reasons. I have a full understand of the situation and she brought Eason and his assistant back to the hotel, but she did not go up to their rooms. I hope that these types of rumors will leave Eason for good because he absolutely is a caring family man."

Elsewhere, during an interview in Taiwan, Eason says he is not a good father especially since he has never read his daughter a bedtime story. Eason thinks into the future as says, "I hope that there will be a normal routine in the future. It's best if I can bring my daughter to school in the morning and afterwards meet up with Jacky Cheung to play some tennis, and end the night by tucking my daughter into bed."

Eason's "Don't Want To Let Go" Concert; Tickets Being Auctioned for $1,000 HKD

Eason Chan will be holding a concert, Eason Chan Don't Want To Let Go, with his company "Si Dai's" and "Si Mui's" (Mr., Jin AuYeung (MC Jin), Keeva Mak & Eva Chan) next week, August 26, 2008, in Hong Kong. As the new generation "God of Songs," tickets to his concerts are expected to be an 'hot item' and there is no exception this time. Tickets to this show is exchanged for credit card points; therefore, not everyone can get tickets to the show. Due to this fact, people are taking advantage of the situation and auctioning tickets for up to $1,000 HKD per. Although this shows Eason's likability, Eason sighs and hopes that fans will find a legal way to get tickets in order to enjoy the show.

Elsewhere, earlier in the year, Eason continued to perform in concert despite a level 8 typhoon warning and recently having performed in the rain during an autograph session, Eason has been given the nickname "Rain God" (雨神). He hopes that this time around everything will go smoothly and the show will not be affected by wind or rain.

Also, due to good sales of his album, Don't Want To Let Go, it is expected that Eason's company will go with the momentum and release another special edition of the album, which will come with a free t-shirt.

Having been nervous [the first time around], Keeva Mak says she will be fully prepared and will not embarrass "Si Hing." Whereas Mr. says they will use a Band Sound style to interpret Eason's hits, which will give the audience a new and fresh listen.

"Money Empire" Begins Filming

Eason Chan, who just returned to Hong Kong from Taiwan, was seen in Kowloon City on August 23, 2008 filming a segment for the upcoming film 金錢帝國 Money Empire (tentative), whose cast includes two Best Supporting Actors, Tony Leung Ka Fai and Anthony Wong Chau Sung. For his segment, Eason had to act like he was drunk, fall down to the ground and bang his head against the wall.

Even after banging his head against the wall and falling to the ground, Wong Jing (producer) was not satisfied and personally guided the camera angle, which led to Eason having to fall down on the stairs 5 to 6 times before everything was set, and ended up taking a couple of hours. Despite his arms and legs red and swollen from the bumping and falling there were no complaints; he is indeed earning his money the hard way.

(Note: New tentative title is 金錢帝國 Money Empire, previously rumored title was 金錢世界 Money's World.)

Tanya Chua Professes Her Love For Eason

Golden Melody "Song Queen" Tanya Chua does not have a love partner, on August 16, 2008, she appeared at the recording of Shen Chun Hua Life Show (沈春華Life Show) with Golden Melody "Song King" Eason Chan where they jammed to each other's love songs. Eason admits that he frequently forgets his lyrics and Tanya says she most admires men like Eason. Happily listening to the praise from Tanya, he gets called back to reality by host Shen Chun Hua who says, "You already have a wife."

Tanya goes on to say, "I like both him as a person and his songs." She says that in her 20's, she will easily fall in love with the opposite sex if he is talented, but it is not reality, further saying, "Now, when I look for a partner, I hope that he is talented, has stability and has personality with a sense of humor, like Eason." Eason laughs and says, "I totally agree."

Eason is extremely supportive of Tanya as he pulls out a book written by Tanya and asks for her autograph and says, "I am a low-key fan. I quietly purchase your books." Tanya, who is ecstatic, tells him to ask her for the books next time [instead of purchasing them himself], Eason then turns into a fan and says, "I'm afraid that if I ask you for your books, I'll have to wait a long time."

Eason's rainy welcome
Thursday August 28, 2008 Singapore
Eason's rainy welcome
By Chang May Choon

HONG KONG crooner Eason Chan came to Singapore last Saturday in a red raincoat and slippers - for good reason.

'My house has been leaking because of the typhoon in Hong Kong,' he told The New Paper.

One might think the zany singer-actor was joking, but he went on to explain with a straight face that the winds were so strong and the rain so heavy that no house, expensive or cheap, could escape getting wet inside.

'I thought the weather in Singapore would be better, but it turns out it's raining here too, so my slippers came in handy.'

Well, the 34-year-old balladeer is not known for his fashion sense anyway.

It was his mesmerising baritone and goofy stage charisma that got fans cheering when he performed at Lunar Asian Fusion Bar on Saturday night.

He was here on a whirlwind 24-hour trip to promote his new Mandarin album, Don't Want To Let Go.

It is out in stores here.

It was his second visit here within a month, after staging a widely lauded concert as part of his Moving On Stage World Tour at the Singapore Indoor Stadium late last month.

The tour, which spans more than 10 cities, is still on. He will perform in Shenzhen and Beijing next month.

Eason revealed he was reluctant to do the concert tour as he felt he was not involved enough during the early planning stages.

He lamented: 'I regret letting go of it and allowing the producers and band to help me choose my songs. I really should have been more involved.'

So, when it came to his new album, he refused to let history repeat itself. Eason got involved from the beginning, deciding on the music first and then, the lyrics.

Much of the album is about embracing life while facing up to many helpless moments and unfulfilled dreams.

Lack of time

For Eason himself, the big dilemma stems from a lack of time. The self-proclaimed workaholic, who won a record-high of 19 music awards last year, said he has been working so hard that he has little time to spend with his 4-year-old daughter Constance and his wife, former actress Hilary Tsui.

So much so that he told the Taiwanese media earlier that he felt he was a failure as a father.

But now, Eason is rethinking his priorities.

'I used to think, if I have a mortgage, I'd work hard and pay it off within 20 years so I can leave the house to my children.

'But now I'm thinking, if I can't pay it all off within 20 years, I can always extend it to 25 or 30 years.

'If I slow myself down at work, I'd earn less. Maybe I'd still be paying off the mortgage on the day I die.

'But it's okay. Maybe my daughter won't need my house. I don't need to worry about her future because she'll have her own mortgage to pay.'

Instead, Eason plans to take things easy from next year onwards and plan his work schedule around his daughter's school time.

Said the devoted father: 'I can take her to school at 8am and spend some quality time with her, then I can go work out a bit before I go fetch her for lunch.'

He also hopes to have time to read books and polish up his guitar skills so he can strum and sing on stage. Or even go shopping at Topshop on Orchard Road the next time he comes to town, he added with a laugh.

Well, he did go to the Singapore Zoo when he was here in July, with his wife and daughter. He had extended his trip, partly to celebrate his birthday here on 27 Jul - over dinner with his Hong Kong friends who flew here specially for him.

It had been 10 years since Eason last went to a zoo, and joy lit up his face as he recounted all the animals he saw - polar bear, crocodile, chimpanzee, parrot, giraffe, zebra and 'many more'.

'It was quite tiring because I had to carry my daughter when she got tired, though I had already exerted all my energy on stage on the 26th,' he said, laughing again.

'But we had a very happy time together. It was a rare occasion for us.'

Kenny Bee following daughter & wife

On September 1, 2008 at 9:20 am, father and mother Eason Chan and Hilary Tsui arrived with their daughter Constance Chan at her kindergarten for the first day of school. Also attending the same school is Simon Yam's daughter Ella Yam and Kenny Bee's daughter Chung Yi. Eason, who has a habit of being late appears unable to let go of this bad habit and "caused" Constance to be late for her first day of school (with normal school days beginning at 9:00 am.) Simon Yam and Kenny Bee brought their daughters to school on time.

After dropping off their daughter, Eason and Hilary were seen getting into a BMW S350 worth $5.2 million TWD (roughly $1.3 million HKD), to Regal Hotel for breakfast. At 11:00 am, Eason and Hilary went to pick up Constance from school and the family of three were then seen headed towards their new home.

"Song.Praise" 歌.頌 MV Features 50 Behind the Scenes Individuals

Having recently released his newest collections album Solidays, Eason Chan invited 50 behind the scenes musicians, producers, dancers, etc., who have helped him throughout his 13 year career, to film his newest MV 歌.頌 (Song.Praise).

Having 50 friends helping him with his newest MV, Eason proudly says, "They have been helping me all these years. When I was talking to the director [of the MV] we thought it would take a long time to film, but they [the 50 behind the scenes individuals] are too good to me and we finished filming in one night. Even though it took 10 hours, it was a rare experience and a worthy experience." However, Keith Chan and Wyman Wong were not in Hong Kong and unable to make it, which Eason feels makes it a little imperfect. During the filming, Eason remembers his 13 year career and having so many behind the scenes individuals helping him and supporting him which causes him to tear up, creating an emotional set.

Individuals appearing in the MV are Moving On Stage musicians and dancers, Green Mountain Orchestra (青山大樂隊), Alvin Leong, Adrian Chou, Dennie Wong, etc. Even Lin Xi, who was in the middle of writing lyrics, took time out to appear in this MV.

Eason, Faith Yang, A-Yue Chang in Concert; Afraid of Police Closing Off Before Show Starts

On October 2, 2008, Eason Chan, Faith Yang and A-Yue Chang will perform at Samsung Imagine Live is Life Concert. Eason looks forward to performing with A-Yue, saying that A-Yue can play the guitar, can sing, can shed (as in shed his clothes) and he is no match for A-Yue. He also joked that he was afraid that before A-Yue gets to the venue the police are already closing off the arena.

After hearing this, A-Yue laughed while saying, "He said that? Tell him not to worry, I haven't shed in a long time this time it's his turn to shed. Eason voice is very captivating and can easily move a person, but I didn't know he was afraid of the police. I am not afraid, if the police come I'll just collect my performance fees and leave."

Faith, who injured her leg, says that if she doesn't recover in time and can't jump around on stage with the two then they'll play her. She says, "Just one of them being playful is more than enough and now adding another one, I can't imagine." Eason and A-Yue both replied, "Don't need to worry, we love women."
