What is there not to like about this album?

This is one of the best (if not the best) album of the year. Every song has its own message. Not to mention all the different genre of songs. Great lyrics, great compositions -- wonderful songs. Great voice -- fantasic singer.

EXTRAORDINARY album.

If you get the NCM Live DVD, Eason proves to you that he's a great live singer.

Eason Chan's Music Highly Praised

Eason Chan’s music has spread to other parts Asia, receiving recognition and praise.

Eason’s newest album, U87, has been chosen to be one of the top 5 albums which should be bought by Epoch Times Magazine. The magazine said that Eason’s level of music is very high and that this album has washed away his past childish image. It also says that Eason’s music can bring out how popular Cantonese music is and in today’s music industry, it is a rarely seen product.

this album is pretty good...i like most of the songs especially ah nhau...

I agree with all of you.....He is such a good singer....

this may be a little random....but I was kind of upset about the way Alan Tam announced the new 4 heavenly kings "sun say dai teen wong"....I really wanted Eason to be one of them....but I guess it was because he took his "break" he was not a part of the four.....I really wanted him to be one of them......I've always thought that he deserved a spot......

I saw a TVB series "triumph in the skies" and realised he was the one who sung its theme song. I just thought it was simply fabulous. I also found out that the original title to this song was "brothers and sisters" and that the lyrics was modified/rewritten specifically for this series.

Can anyone please let me know if he's ever released a "Best of Eason Chan collection" and if not which of his albums do you recommend?

Thanks.

yup the original version of the triumph in the slies song was in mandarin..hehe but i like both versions....yup i think eason should have been in the 4 heavenly kings too!! but i dunno..

Thanks deepfan for the confirmation. So do you know if he's released a best of Eason Chan or just only albums?

I have never purchased any of his albums but have heard a few of his songs - although I never knew which song came from which album. So any recommendations would be great!

An older Eason Best Hits is "Eason 4 a Change" two newer ones would be Great 5000 Secs Volume 1 and Volume 2.

In my opinion the two Great 5000 Secs are the newer ones which consists more of Eason's greatest hits.

Also, a MUST GET album of Eason's is his newest one "U87" this is by far Eason's best album. It signifies Eason's maturity, Eason's change in recording company, and it has all the types of music that represents Eason.

Another good album is "The Line-Up" and the theme from Triumph In the Sky is in his "Live for Today" album.

Isn't the theme incredible? I loved it when I heard it for the first time.

Thanks for the details happymoviegoer. That would make it so much easier for me to shop for his CDs since I can't read Chinese characters very well. Just a couple more questions though, the Great 5000 Secs album, do Vol 1 & 2 come together as one or are they sold separately? Out of these two "Great 5000 secs" and U87, which one has more slow Cantonese songs (sorry, cause I don't quite understand mandarin)? Thanks heaps for helping me out *hugs*.

Great 5000 Secs Volume 1 and Volume 2 are sold seperately.

If you're someone that doesn't understand the lyrics, but like to listen to good slow cantonese songs then here's what I recommend:

Here's the breakdown for U87:
Tracks 2 and 3 - slow songs, 2 of the best songs, already made it to the charts this year and have been successful
4 - slow song, one of the best, have yet to be recognized
5 - uptempo song, great, Eason has been highly praised for being one of the more difficult songs to sing that he has mastered
6 - slow song, one of the best, only now getting to be known
11 - mandarin, slow song, great song
12 - mandarin, slow song, one of the best, a must-listen song for those that don't like mandarin songs
all the other songs - all good songs with great meaning in its lyrics

Here's the breakdown for volume 1:
Track 1 -new song: good song that I wouldn't consider a slow or uptempo song
2 - new song: uptempo song that I'm not too crazy about
3 - new song: slow song that I think is the best out of the 3 new songs
4 - theme to 'triumph in the sky'
5 - great song, won tvb 2003 top 10 songs of the year
6 - Next Year Today - slow, one of the best, won tvb 2002 best song of the year
7 - Karoke King - slow, one of the best, won tvb 2000 top 10 songs of the year and web fav. song (I believe)
8 - Shall We Talk - slow, one of the best, won tvb 2001 best song of the year
Tracks 11, 17, 18 - slow songs, great songs, 3 of the best slow Eason songs that went without winning awards

My breakdown for volume 2
Tracks 1, 2, 3 - new songs
6 - For Alice - uptempo song, great, a good song to Fur Elise
7 - Katrina - slow song, great song, David Tao's rendition of 'Katrina' in Cantonese, David Tao sang the original version in English (highly recommended)... I forgot who sang 'Katrina' in Mandarin...Eason sang the Cantonese version
11 - Lonely Christmas - Slow song, good song for Christmas

What volume 1 doesn't have that volume 2 has -- Katrina and Lonely Christmas

What volume 2 doesn't have that volume 1 has -- theme to 'triumph in the sky', next year today, karoke king, shall we talk, tracks 11, 17, 18

As you can tell volume 1 consists of more great slow tempo songs by Eason.

No need to thank. I'm glad I'm able to share Eason's music. He's the only singer I will spend time to answer questions about his music.

ENJOY!!!

Looks like it's down to U87 and 5K Secs Vol 1 then!

I live in Australia and very seldom we have an artist's entire collection of albums, series or movies. What frustrates me most is when they can't even relate to the artist you've enquired about so it's best I equipt myself with all the necessary information.

Will definitely check out his albums when I get the chance to.

Cheers.

Great album. Good to have some new material from him

Eason Chan is definitely a real good singer!! He should be one of the SEI DAI TIN WONG
(4 legendary singers?) lol instead of Andy Hui(no offense but i think he's better) Well, i guessed he wasnt chosen since he's not too good looking...(that doesnt really matter as he sings like a god apart from Jacky Cheung)

Eason yelled at because of his good intent

Yesterday, Eason Chan accepted an interview. During the interview, Eason said he is currently busy with work on his new mandarin album and rehearsing for the Jade Singers TVB Anniversary Celebration. When the topic on singers fighting to become the team leaders, Eason said that all the singers knew that there were going to be bad news on the them nearing the end of the year. Eason thinks that if becoming the team leader makes you win awards at the end of the year, there is no point of the awards. He does not believe the rumours saying that if your team leader, you’ll win the awards. Eason said from looking at a certain point of view, that in order to win the Favourite Male Singer Award, you have to be the favourite. Eason said jokingly that his not favoured and that when going to promote something in a shopping centre, no one would recognise him.

Eason was asked if he was ever yelled at on the street and if he hasn’t that means he is favoured. Eason said that once he and Hilary Tsui were at the airport to catch a plane to go on a holiday. While he was on the escalator, a young girl asked him for his autograph. He only said to the little girl, “We’re nearly there.” Suddenly a house-wife (middle aged lady) turned around and yelled at him. Eason said at the time he did not know what was going on, as he did not say he wasn’t going to give the girl an autograph. In the boarding area, Eason saw the lady again, as he was in a good mood; he walked up to lady and said, “You’re going on a holiday. Be happy!” The lady immediately reacted saying that Eason’s dad was a prisoner in jail and then yelled at Hilary. Eason could not do anything but look helpless and think that his good intent turned wrong. His friends comforted him and said that the lady must have misunderstood him. Looking back at now, Eason thinks that is a very rare incident.

Hi Deepfan & Happy_movie_goer

Thank you so much for recommending Eason's U87 & 5,000 secs albums. Initially I only intended to get the 5,000 secs Vol 1 but eventually I got all 3! I also had a bonus choice between his concert and MV but since I've never seen his performance at a concert, I chose the concert. It was really funny when they showed how he rehearsed for his concert - his hair was ruffled, shirt was unkempt and sweating heavily too. I actually like his carefree will. He doesn't mind letting his fans see this side of him which I thought was great because it makes him more "real" since most of the time, artists tend to give a big deal about their image and appearance.

I love the first Mandarin song on U87. I can read some Chinese so the lyrics helped me understand the song better.

I saw a post within this thread that someone was interested in Eason's song from the AAM album (all about men) which I bought as well - but solely because of Raymond Lam (hehehe...sorry, no offence but I'm a huge fan of Ray's). If anyone needs the song, just tell me how to upload the song. Another thing I could think of is you can use Limewire to d/l if you have the software.

Cheers.

The "Chik Chak 2005 Music Award Show' will be held on January 1, 2006. Yesterday they had a reporters function to announce the details of the show. Stars that attended included Twins, Ronald Cheng, Leo Ku, Eason Chan, Miriam Yeung, Shawn Yue, Soler, Grasshoppers, and many more. The singers voted for who they thought was their 'favorite female, male singers and group'. In the end, Eason Chan gets the favorite male and Sandy Lam gets the favorite female singer, and Soler and Grasshoppers gets the votes for 'best group'.

Eason is very happy to be chosen as their favorite male singer, and thanked everyone that voted for him. He doesn't have any special awards that he wants to get, but just wants to sing his own songs and take care of the newcomers.

During the voting time, Ronald generously said he voted for old lover Miriam Yeung as his favorite female singer. Miriam responded saying that they're in the same company and the votes can change everyday. She also says she will vote for her partners in the same company. She was asked whether it would make other people unhappy. She said it woudn't because the singer's votes it just a game, so no need to be too earnest.

Eason praises Edison's concert performance

Eason Chan went to Edison Chen’s concert. When asked to comment on Edison’s swearing at the concert when there were children, at an interview, Eason said, “It did not affect me. But the parents may think differently.” Surprisingly, Eason could not hear Edison’s swearing at the concert, he said, “I could not hear properly!”

Eason praised Edison by saying, “I know that Edison was under a lot of pressure while preparing for this concert. I believe he did great!”

On the other hand, Eason will be releasing a mandarin album on the 23rd.

Hacken Wins Award, Joey and Eason Have Throat Problems

Yesterday, both Joey Yung and Eason Chan were having throat problems. While continuing to nurse her voice, Joey continued to lipsync during her performances. Afterwards, in a hoarse voice she expresses her own feelings. She says that with the hoarse voice she sounds like a man, even her own mother does not recoginze her voice over the phone.

Eason, who is also having throat problems, has always persisted in singing Live. Probably because he does not want to affect his standards and does not want to lipsync he has chosen not to perform when he won an award.

Yesterday, Hacken Lee with his Mandarin song "愛可以問誰" won an award for the first time along with "Favorite Male Singer". A happy Hacken expressed: for the past 3 years he has won awards with Cantonese songs, this time he won with his Mandarin songs.

Recently, Jacky Cheung, Eason Chan, Joey Yung, and other singers have been having throat problems, when asking Hacken how he preserves his voice he replies: I'm not young anymore so maintaining my voice is important. I will go to bed early and wake up early, while drinking lots of water. Last year he also experienced losing his voice and didn't recuperate until 9 months later.

My Comments: Eason Chan, can't say enough about him. I understand that Joey has to lipsync because she can't sing so I'm not saying she's wrong. I'm just saying that Eason chose the better route. Not performing is better than lipsyncing.

Eason Chan: I'd Rather Not Sing Than Lip-Sync

Recently, Eason has lost his voice and was forced to stop working. He met with the 港台十大中文金曲 award ceremony's reporters. His voice was high pitched and weak, he even made fun of his own voice. He indicated that he has rested for a few days and his voice has still not restored. Right now, his voice is very flat and high pitched. Probably because Shanghai's weather turned cold in addition to talking non-stop for five hours. At first it was a little cough, later his voice became weak and when he woke up he realized that he had lost his voice. He saw a doctor in Shanghai and the doctor said it was probably caused by eating monosodium glutamate. He is now, still eating medicine and the best thing is to not talk.

Eason knows that Jacky Cheung also lost his voice and says that Jacky's situation is more serious, so rest is necessary. Eason has been forced to cancel all of his near future work. On Saturday, Eason was supposed to appear at Wyman Wong's show and Tung Wah Charity Show but, right now, he does not know if he will be able to sing. A reporter asked him: "why don't you lip-sync?" He responds: "there's no meaning in lip-syncing, I'd rather not sing." The reporters point out that Joey Yung has been lip-syncing, Eason replies: "every singer has their own way of doing things."

-----
That is why Eason is such a respectable singer. I mean, there's nothing wrong with Joey lip-syncing because she is having throat problems of her own, but as Eason said: there's no meaning in lip-syncing. Of course, as Eason said, every person has their own way of doing things. Its probably because Joey wants to perform for her fans, she isn't denying she's li-syncing, she's outright telling you she's lip-syncing so its not a bad thing. BUT Eason's way of taking on the situation is better. Even though his fans want to see him perform I think we'd rather see him perform live than to know he's lip-syncing.
