Due to health reasons, Taiwanese actress-singer Angela Chang will not be able to come to Singapore to promote her latest album ANG 5.0 as planned from March 2 – 5, 2008.

According to a spokesperson from Universal Music Singapore, Angela has been nursing a persistent bout of flu since early February and she paid a visit to her doctor for a full body check-up after the Lunar New Year period. Following the release of the medical results yesterday; her doctor has advised the pint-sized idol not to exert herself for the time being and to refrain from taking long flights.

As such, Angela’s record company Linfair Records has decided to cancel all of her public appearances in Taiwan and also her Promotional Tour in Singapore. We understand that Angela is currently resting at home in Taiwan and will take further health tests and check-ups.

Angela expresses extreme regret at the tour cancellation. “Eventually, my body has fallen ill despite my bidding. I will now rest well and recover my health so I can return to Singapore again to meet all of you,” she said in the press release sent out late this afternoon.

Fans who are holding on to the entry pass to Angela’s autograph session on March 2, 2008, can now redeem an exclusive Angela Chang notebook and greeting card upon showing their pass at any Sembawang Music stores from March 8 – 31, 2008. Fans can write their well-wishes on the greeting card for Angela. For enquiries, please contact Universal Music at 67403735.

Winners to Channel U’s Romantic Princess contest will still receive a poster (not autographed) and an exclusive Angela Chang notebook instead of tickets to the Campus Concert.

Bad news guys! Angela's march concert is postponed to may. I read in the paper that she has heart problems and went to Canada for treatment. It stated that she has difficulty breathing...vomitting....ang cannot walk(?). It seems that her sickness is hereditary as her dad & younger sis also has it.

Angela entering the industry already 5 years, career has been successful, she turned 26 last month, during the Lunar celebrations she was advised by famous Hong Kong fortune teller Li Juming that she'll be running a 10 year luckiness, stardom will be smooth.

And now the rumours of her getting a heart problem, she must stop all work making everyone worried. "A-NAtion" website yesterday had many fans all leaving messages to wish her well.

Wu Yifen says, the record company was originally plannin to release Angela's album, stepping forward internationally and challenging the screens, but now all plans have recently been forced to be on hold.

Yesterday not able to contact with Angela's family; Wu Yifen was not able to find out about the cause of her heart problem, Wu Yifen is optimistic wishing that Angela will return to Taiwan at the end of March, first gentle work then depending on the physical condition will arrange performances.

In another report they said it might be hereditary since her father has had open heart surgery before and her younger sister has Arrhythmia. So right now they're doing a more detailed check-up.

It hurts a lot to know that Angela has heart problems, I do hope it's not serious. But there are cases when these kinds of "problems" were mistaken for something else, let's hope that she recovers quickly. I was thinking that it might just be from being overworked.

After all... look how skinny she is. My brother called her anorexic, and I'm not a single bit surprised. Those bones look like they're about to pop out. Sometimes I wonder if it's a lack of nutrition or something, because if her immune system isn't really strong, this "problem" can really get to her and might defeat her...

That seemed to be back in 2005, so I don't know if this is extremely reliable. But what I DO know is that Angela will always be a beautiful girl in my heart.

UPDATE ON ANGELA'S CONDITION

Due to heart disease, Angela Zhang returned to Canada for medical treatment, on the 11th it was confirmed that the cause of illness was "mitral valve prolapse." Doctors recommended that she undergo an operation for treatment, but in the next two-days she has arranged to see another doctor for check up and if surgery is also recommended then she will have the heart surgery. Lately she is in Canada recuperating, and taking medication to stable the condition. As for fans they have gone online to message her to Jia You, Angela said: "Thank you to every one that is concerned about me."

In the afternoon of the 11th, Angela's record company Linfair Director Tunyifen spoke through a telephone conversation, because of her illness and delays to work, she say: "I am sorry." Tunyifen heartbreaking says, regardless of whether or not she has surgery, hopes that she can do a thorough treatment so it'll be better for her future performance work.

Angela about a year and a half ago, because of exhaustion from work, her chest didn't feel well, had breathing difficulties and naucious symptoms. At that time, she had been in Taiwan for medical treatment, it was tested that her heart had blood returning, then following with a heavy work load, the number of uncomfortable heart was more frequent, leading to the end of February where she returned to Canada for medical treatment.
