I think Charmaine has more versatility. She was reallly good in WAB. Tavia seems to just have the same expressions. She always plays the weak role too.

This is a hard choice. Both of them have improved in their acting. But I'd personally choose Charmaine. Hmm... but Tavia is so... cute . I'll stick with Charmaine.

Both Tavia and Charmaine are great at acting. However, I prefer Charmaine since I have seen her for a few years and think she's one of the greatest.

Charmaine is obviously better than Tavia. in Yummy Yummy, you can see that Charmaine is more natural in acting.

Tavia...obviously lol. I used to like Charmaine...in her early days I was like a big fan....now its like hmm...but yeah I dont like her anymore...shes ok i guess. Her role in WAB was good, but I always see her in the real agressive to men roles...it got me annoyed but i hope she changes the type of roles she does. But yup...defintely Tavia!!

its a case of choosing the lesser of two evils, in this case i pick charmaine because she has more experience now and is one of the "better" actresses in tvb.

before they boss are good actress but now i noticed dat they have some pains to act well and to be natural when acting!! don't know why but maybe because they don't have good roles to play anymore

Hmmm... both are good TVB actresses... but if I had to choose:

In terms of acting: Charmaine of course, she's been acting longer, right? Plus, she can cry - If Tavia wants the vote from me, she really gotta work on her crying skills. They were absolutely atrocious (sp?) in The Academy. What's with the whining when she cries?

In terms of beauty: Definitely Charmaine. She can be cute & pretty. Tavia to me is just average looking - she can be pretty, but at certain angles, she can be pretty ugly too. But both are cute.

So in the end? I choose Charmaine, although I like both of them if not for the comparison. Charmaine's a great actress who's established herself as a Fadan, and Tavia is on her way to becoming one.

like everyone else has said..it would be CHARMAINE..
some obvious reasons are..
*she has more experience in actingg and onstage performance
*she is prettier than tavia..she WAS a beauty pagent rmb that.
*she can act almost any type of character..n she proved to us that she was capable and has persuaded her audience that her acting seems realistic.

i think bottom line is that charmaine wins over tavia because of all these yrs she's been in tvb..n how she started off as a misss hk..later really proved to us that she can act and was suited for the industry. she's been in so many series that i've lost count. so..experience wins all

Charmaine is the more seasoned character...and she has more experience...so she wins...but who knows Tavia might end up being a very good actor too...but Charmaine, i think, will always be prettier

Charmaine is a more experienced and versatile actress, portraying roles from the innocent to the evil ones. She has continued to improve her acting skills series after series. Definately worthy of promoted as a lead actress. Right now, I don't see Tavia as one of TVB's top actresses. But she certainly has the potential to reach top. Maybe the two should be compared after a couple more years.

i believe tavia is a better actor. when charmaine was tavia's age, she was a horrible actor. charmaine had no expression or anything. tavia has been improving ever since she took on a leading role. tavia worked her way up unlike charmaine who was ms. hk.

I seriously think those who disagree with me should watch all Charmaine's movies again. I mean, she is better looking, better actress and more calm. i'll go for charmaine because she looks prettier and acts better than tavia. tavia is good but the character she holds makes me feel bored. maybe because of the weak roles she plays.

I like Charmaine more because she's given some good credit to the Miss HK pageant by being a decent, believable actress. She's got a very unique look that you can't just find on the streets. Her look is supposed to be cute, but she's managed to do a variety of films with different roles.

Tavia still doesn't have the accolades to compete with Charmaine yet. She's a couple years behind and hasn't developed the proper facial expressions to be a convincing actress yet.

I'm backing up for Tavia, she improved a lot and i really like her acting. Charmaine speaks very loud trying to express her feelings better, she's like a cartoon character.
On the contrary Tavia speaks more naturally (lately), somehow you can believe she could actually be a real person.

CHarmaine cannot act, not pretty and not cute.

CHarmaine started out being hated by a lot of pple, and tvb gave her alot of opportunities... so pple started liking her.

also she is from Miss HK.. so essentially, TVB promotes her more.

but one IMPORTANT thing is... TAvia has the beauty in her in that she is much younger than Charmaine.. LOL..

Her acting improved very quickly. I have to say she was great in Twin of Brothers. She still rather early in her career so she hasn't had much time to work on it but I give it to her for playing a variety of characters to the strong and bold Sau Ning to the insecure and bit childish character in Ling Mong in Yummy Yummy. With a few more years she will far surpass Charmaine in terms of skill.

While Charmaine has improved since her debut...I don't see much difference in her acting. She is less stiff than before but if this is considered near the height of her career (she is starring in a lot of main roles) than I have to say her acting is average. I think people like her more for her looks.

Look wise I don't think Tavia is particularly attractive but she has character. Charmaine though has the looks but doesn't really have a strong sense of personality to back it. When I see her I don't see a spark of character like I see in other actors and actresses that makes them unique personality wise. She is rather passive.

why do people pose such questions comparing an actress with many lead roles and decent acting skills to a second-lead actress with not so good acting skills???

i like charmaine long time ago and i believe since she starting acting for tvb whereas tavia just only started enjoying her acting...she is cute but she is still new in the industry so give her time i might like her too
