Film, "49 Days", had been screened for two weeks and they have received a profit of 7,300,000HK$ in the box office. There had been a celebration dinner yesterday; producer Tsui Siu Ming and cast, Stephen Fung, Gillian Chung, Raymond Wong, and Steven Cheung had attended. Tsui Siu expressed that the results of this film are better than what was expected. Besides the two films that are filming now, "Following" and "Ink Attack", there will be more films produced this year.

Gillian had heard that there might be a sequel for "49 Days" and she expressed that if there is, she'll definitely film it. Asking the female lead, Gillian, whether she'll treat the cast and crew out for another dinner? Gillian responded probably not because she has to leave for Beijing today to start filming a new series, "The Flying Fox And Snowy Mountain", and she will be staying there for an amount of time. She had already been in Mainland filming when she had been filming "Monkey King" a few years earlier, so she has the experience. This time, she'll be bringing many warming and electrical devices with her. In the series, she'll be portraying the apprentice of a medicine king, Ching Ling So. The other cast include Alex Fong Chung Sun and Anthony Wong.


There has been reports saying that Madame Tussand's Wax Museum will be expanding and creating more wax figures, of which Twins is a candidate. Gillian expressed that she didn't receive a notice yet, but it'd be alright as long as it's not a horrific wax figure. How would she want her wax figure to look? Gillian said it'd be best if it wasn't an ordinary look on any usual day; it'd be nice if it could be one of the images from concerts, some images require wigs. She kidded that if they decide to make a wax figure of her, they must not forget the "gossiping mole" on her right cheek. Asking of why she didn't get it removed if she knows that it's a "gossiping mole"? Gillian expressed that her boss thought there was no need for it when she came into the showbiz.

And you can hear the vibrating from both Twins, but its more clearer on Gillian. And not to bash Charlene or anything, but Gillian also doesnt breathe as loud as Charlene here... it may not be a big deal but yeah...=D Oh and one more thing, I found that Twins sang this pretty well too, but some people had said that it wasnt good... =/

Leave Me Alone - Tokyo Film Festival

Hm, I guess it does seem like EEG has gotten a bit better towards Gillian ever since her lead hits in BOK, HOF, and now 49 Days! I at times may sound a bit harsh on Sa and generally Twins but nonetheless, whatever makes Gillian happy and successful, that is all I'm supporting for. If Gillian keeps receiving ill treatment as Twins and she has even mentioned the restrictions herself then as a fan, I support the split so Gillian can finally free herself from the cutesy image EEG forces upon her and it's obvious that the image Twins is sort of stalling her singing career because Twins songs aren't challenging enough nor mature enough due to some young fans that admire Twins. I too am not discouraging the duo Twins but I feel that each individual has their own potential and in a way, each Twins is inhibiting one another from reaching that. You're right, groups only last a few years in the beginning of stardom but eventually branch out to form their own unique style and image. Twins themselves seem a bit distant from the beginning. I think they are just as bored as we are still portraying high school students in uniforms and singing cute karaoke songs.

Yeah.. Isabella's image is contradictory. She's cute and innocent full of hopes, dreams, and A huge imagination on film but her songs and live performances are like huh?? I've seen some of her live performances (I believe she lip-synced so haven't heard her sing live yet.) and her dances are pretty daring plus the sexy wardrobe that even Twins have never been bold enough to wear until recently. She's a pretty hot dancer, better than Yumiko and Twins. Hm, I personally without a bias judgment because I'm comparing Isabella and Sa (not involving Gillian) and I have to say, Isabella's acting abilities are quite surprising. No doubt, her acting abilities will exceed Sa in any given role to portray. But the only problem is: Isabella doesn't have as large of a fanbase as Sa so the ratings or overall judgment of the audience are biased and altered. The movie "Isabella" is featured in the Berlin Festival but hilariously, I have never heard of that movie before so that film popped out of nowhere. I've seen some pictures of the movie after reading that piece of news and Isabella appears quite convincing I should say. ' Leave Me Alone entered the Tokyo Film Festival? Hm, that movie was extremely boring and weird. Some of her so called serious roles turned out to be complete flops base on my impression. It's not that I can't picture Sa portraying a serious mature role, I've watched Sa act in Leave Me Alone and Hidden Heroes...um, horrible. Isabella...I enjoy her more as an actress. And yeah...dumb reporters are always attacking Gillian with dumb inquiries. Gillian's films have entered several film festivals and no one probed that envy question to Sa which will be more relevant since they're partners but Isabella and Gillian?---That was uncalled for.

Hm, wonder why there isn't a TVB version of Concious Discovery? Hopefully, Gillian does get more live solo performances in the near future because you're right on target about the HK audience yet to hear Gillian's live singing.

The live performance of Twins singing Blame You For Being Too Beautiful as a tribute to Leslie, Gillian seemed so emotional and I was about to cry myself watching Gillian's eyes get all teary.

I just rewatched "Happy Go Lucky" again today and there were several scenes that made my eyes watery too. People are so mean, seriously. Gillian did such a great job especially the crying scenes, she has always been a tear jerking pro.

I agree that American Pie isn't the best song that Twins have done, probably even one of the worst too...... ' They couldn't really keep up, but somehow I really like that line of when Gillian sings "break the rhythm and blues".

So all three of Gillian, Charlene, and Isabella have had their movies entered in festivals. I really haven't heard much nor seen "Leave Me Alone" before. All I know is it stars Charlene and Ekin, and Charlene seems to have a serious role in there? Usually don't they make a big deal out of it when Charlene has a movie being screened?


Yeah, EEG is dumb at many times, but I'd imagine they aren't exactly brainless to what the market is leaning towards. To what I see, it's more or less if Gillian's not in Charlene's way or being a threat towards her, then Gillian's free to be off on her path. I was half and half towards the split of Twins before because as you've stated, I would like the split to happen if it's the key to free Gillian from all these unreasonable treatments, but I just don't want Gillian to be following in Steven's footsteps; it does seem like that might not happen to Gillian anymore because she's been able to prove herself out with all her successful leading roles and being able to control the stage when singing alone.

The cutesy image of Twins being the reason of restrictions is kinda dumb because it is definitely not only Twins who have a wide range of fans from children to adults, but it doesn't keep any other artist from doing anything more daring to broaden their horizon. Twins may have needed each other to lean on at the beginning, but even Mani said herself that both Gillian and Charlene have the ability to stand on their own feet now. Sometimes it even feels like Twins is holding each other back. We now realize that even the genres of songs that suit each of the two girls are different. Charlene's better at singing songs that remain on the same notes while Gillian will have more areas to shine when she has a song that is more vibrant to portray. Gillian has expressed before that she doesn't like wearing school uniforms and prancing around like a little girl when she's in her twenties. We can surely understand why she'd think that way. Gillian also doesn't seem all that eager on Twins remaining together anymore. Back on her birthday, her birthday wish is for Twins to remain together, but now when the reporters asked about how she and Charlene are working on different projects during the upcoming month, Gillian simply replied something like, "We're both just working; we'll still see each other at times."


Isabella's wardrobes are definitely way more daring than Twins'. It might be because Isabella's mostly paired with Yumiko during performances for EEG celebrations and things like that, and Yumiko seems to have that daring image going on too. You know, it seems to be really easy to hold a place in an HK audience's mind in the film industry if you start with a really happy, positive, cute, and innocent role. Doesn't it seem that way? HK people really like those characters. Being an overseas viewer, one would find that half of those characters are really annoying, but HK is like for them. Sometimes it also doesn't matter what kind of characters are in a drama, it all sums down to who is playing the character. For example, if Charlene and Isabella were to play rivals in a movie, due to Charlene's larger fanbase, most would side with Charlene's character and trash of how Isabella's character's so bad, but we can obviously see that if they were to switch roles, then all the comments would too be switched. So sometimes, people are just in to see the actress and not the movie itself.

Since "Isabella" was entered in the Berlin Festival, it means that the movie had never been screened in HK before and it had only been viewed privately by the festival judges, so it's normal for us not to know anything about the film. The problem with Charlene's "serious" roles is she tries to get a serious character in when the film is included in the genre of comedy, so her "serious" character still ends up making a comedic effect to the movie even when the character is supposed to be serious. That's mainly why her serious roles aren't successful and that she mostly sticks with the cutie roles instead to my impression. Also because her cute image works with her for films, then it was eventually stereotyped into if Charlene plays a cute role, it's gonna be good, yet I think it does get repetitive at times.

Why was that question even raised to Gillian? And they just had to ask it on the premiere of "49 Days" too; it was so rude. It's much more reasonable if questions of comparison are raised between Charlene and Gillian since they have relations with each other because of being Twins. It's not the best thing to be compared with someone else, but it always happens in a group. One member is always compared to another. Actually reporters do ask things between Charlene and Gillian, but they just ask them towards Gillian, but rarely, or even never, to Charlene. I remember when Gillian expressed that she would like to star in more movies during this year, the reporters asked if she wanted to challenge and race up to her partner Charlene? I was like, does Gillian even need to do that? How is her wish to film more movies equal to wanting to "challenge" Charlene? Anyway, Gillian is so nice to Isabella as her junior, so reporters shouldn't ask questions like that to Gillian. Gillian speaks out for Isabella that she's looking forward for Isabella to get the Best Newcomer Award for films from Bug Me Not!. Reporters have done it at a Bug Me Not! function before as well, they asked Gillian something about her having to be a supporting character for Isabella. Gillian then responded that it's a pleasure for her to be helping out her junior/Sze Mui for her debut movie. Reporters don't even get their facts straight; Gillian was in fact merely guest starring in that movie, but they just somehow include her in the "starring" category of the movie, which came the "Bug Me Not!" Starring: Isabella Leong, Gillian Chung introductory that I've mentioned earlier about seeing that being printed on a magazine.


I kinda hope that they've already filmed one and just haven't released it yet. News reports are never made about the filming of TVB versions of MV's because the original versions of MVs are usually more invested and have more sponsors than the TVB versions. I remember that they released the original MV for Self Deception by Alex and Theresa for a bit of time, and then suddenly out of nowhere, there was a TVB version and no one knew that it had even been filmed. Let's hope that's what happened with Conscience Discovery too. Besides, Kindergarten is still hanging around in the charts, so they wouldn't want any clashes of Gillian VS Gillian, right? I hope.

I guess it's not exactly that bad for Gillian to be Ching Ling So. She'll get some exposure in Mainland/Taiwan that way on home television, right? I hope that Gillian's costume will be something pretty because I've seen a photo of Athena's costume and it's messier than messy. She had this big fur thing on and her hair was just twisted and pulled out here and there. I hope that's not Athena's final costume and that Gillian's costume won't be like that.

Blame You For Being Too Beautiful once again proves that Gillian is better at singing songs of other artists rather than Twins songs. I remember when I just heard this song last year, I couldn't quite recognize Gillian's voice when she sang the first line because it's so different than how it sounds in Twins songs. It's much more mature and deep.

"Happy Go Lucky" is the best movie from Gillian's earlier products in the film industry, in my opinion. She had a decent amount of screentime, and the movie had a good storyline. Gillian's acting was also pretty good basing on her early products; it's probably not that good if you compare it to her recent films though, but Gillian knew how to cry all along. I loved that part near the ending where Snowie was thinking of what Cheung and Fat Cat said to her and about her parents as My Father, Mother started playing.

Ahh..I am not sure if I am being sensitive but I was reading the asian news section and under Gillian's new serie news, someone has to bring up that Charlene act better. I mean , it's news on Gillian alone, I don't see why this person has to start comparing again!! And then when I went to read Charlene's breakthrough role, some said that her acting is better than Gillian again. I can't help but replied back. I don't see us Gillian fans doing that! It's so unfair that Gillian does more different type of roles but no one ever said it's a breakthrough but making such big deal on Charlene's role. Yah, it just strange that the headline is Charlene's breakthrough role just bc she's doing a different type of role compared to her previous one. To me, a breakthrough role is when an actor/actress did an outstanding job in the role that he/she portrays. So it's after viewing, not before viewing to judge.

People always predict Charlene's roles and movies before it even comes out so it's too normal to see people still doing that but I agree with what you said. It's just weird how they always think like. They have such high hopes for her yet it usually disappoints them which is just sad...These kind of headlines are just bs and so unnecessary to be in the newspaper..

One thing I'm sure of is that Charlene will get more recognize with this role though..I don't think it matters if she portrays this role good or bad but she will surely gain a lot of recognition just because she is portraying a mental person...These roles are just so 'overrated'.

Something that bothers me is that EEG lets Charlene accept this role yet didn't let Gillian accept a role similar to this!! They always rejects things that may help Gillian get more recognized and then right after a while they will give that opportunity to Charlene instead!

EEG sucks, I think we all know that. They should just get over themselves about this whole image thing, because things like movie roles do not affect an artists image.

You're definitely not being sensitive over this because I'm sure we all feel the same way. Comparison is nothing that even two separate artists can avoid, never mind that Gillian and Charlene are in the same group. It is true that there are less Gillian fans who step on Charlene to supposedly bring Gillian up than there are Charlene fans who step on Gillian to supposedly bring Charlene up. Over in the poll section, there was a time where every Gillian-related poll was replied to by the same person and they wrote that Gillian is fat. More like what does that have to do with anything?

No offense, but there are quite a bit of Charlene fans who do many meaningless things. For example, at a chinese forum called baidu, I think it is, each artist has their own thread of discussion with a moderator, and guess what Charlene fans do? They don't just stay in the Charlene/Twins thread, but they go ahead to open up and sign up to be the moderator of other threads such as the Kenny thread, Steven thread, Nicholas thread and end up writing comments like "KC Rocks!/SC Rocks!/NC Rocks!" and most importantly, "Gillian sucks!/KG Sucks!/SG Sucks!/NG Sucks!" all day long.

Seriously, by the effect of EEG, the HK Media is pretty much biased towards Charlene over Gillian as well. For each role that Charlene gets, they ALWAYS say it's a breakthrough role; they ALWAYS say that she's going to get Best Actress with it BEFORE the movie is released or sometimes even filmed yet. For heaven's sake, Charlene never even got a nomination yet. Many of Charlene's roles appear different, but it still all sums down to being the same cutie/wacko role in the end in my opinion. I agree that whether or not a role is a breakthrough role should be judged AFTER the movie has been released and seen by viewers. On the other hand, Gillian gets judged of her breakthroughs the correct way that it should be done, which is AFTER the movie has been released where there is concrete evidence that a breakthrough has been made within a film. It's still biased and stupid that Gillian still doesn't get at least the same amount recognition that Charlene does in acting when she's received many recognitions due to her recent leading roles.

I'm also glad the song has made it to the charts, but when it eventually hit the jsg one...will Gillian be able to perform it live with Kenny, since she's heading to Beijing to film the Wong Jing series? I seriously hope they won't use the method you guys mentioned in the previous pages; substituting Gill with Isabella or whoever it could be.


I think it's actually better to not make such a deal about the whole breakthrough thing, because then people won't expect as much from you; so if the movie doesn't turn out to be all that good, then it won't at least disappoint the audience as much as it would have otherwise. But who knows, as someone mentioned before those mental roles tend to be well-liked in HK, so Charlene might get some regonition or nomination for that role. We just have to wait and see....

Well, we've noticed that recently Gillian's been pushed to the singing area with her solo singing performances and Charlene's continuing with her acting which went to the point that she was excused from some music award ceremonies, so if that's what EEG is trying to develop with each of them after the disband of Twins occur, then they might not bring a substitute in for Gillian if it does hit the JSG charts. EEG would want people to know what Gillian can do and receive recognition if that's where they want Gillian to mainly develop her career in. If EEG's not going to be a barrier to it, then Gillian will be able to sneak some time off from filming the series to come back to perform. That's where we get news reports of artists expressing that they are in a rush because they just came back to HK to do a certain thing and they have to head back to filming immediately after.

You know, the more I think of it, the more I think it's possible that Gillian = singing and Charlene = acting. If not, then why would EEG even let Gillian sing a duet with Kenny and actually promote it unlike what happened with the Legend Of Love Themesong from three years ago of which a full version had never been released? (Other than the fact that Gillian's voice seems to work the best with Kenny's within the EEG female artists since her voice is very distinct and stretch out. I can't exactly imagine Kenny and Charlene singing a duet because they both have a similar voice base, and it really won't be the best chemical effect produced if two similar voices combine.) We would've thought that with EEG pairings right now, they would've gotten Isabella to do the duet with Kenny. It might've been a testing that was done when A Chinese Tall Story was released. Nic and Charlene's duets didn't make a big hit in the music section, but Charlene did get certain recognitions from her role in the film. In contrast, Conscience Discovery was a great hit online when it was released, so maybe that's how the directions of each were being determined?

I've read the "breakthrough" thing about Charlene and I was like, well Gillian too just did a drama/thriller movie and all so I don't see any kind of breakthrough here. However, it's good to hear that Charlene is getting out of her bubbly act!

Since Conscience Discovery don't have a TVB verison yet right? So I'm hoping that TVB will tell Gillian to give her first kiss to Kenny in the MV. And maybe she'll say yes and but EEG rejects. But if EEG rejects and gets TVB mad then I don't think Twins will be getting anymore awards because all the awards are from TVB! I hope TVB makes Gill give her kiss to Kenny.. and maybe another bed scene with Kenny on top and Gill on bottom? Lol!!! Just wish that could happen!

I don't think TVB would get mad if EEG rejected something like that because they must respect the companies choices, since it is their artist And even if it was required for the MV, it wouldn't be TVB that would request it, it would be the director. Rejecting intimate scenes isn't a big deal, Edmond Pang was willing to change several scenes in Beyond Our Ken for the issue when he could have just found another actress.

Maybe there is a TVB version, just unreleased yet. The media rarely lets out news of artists filming a TVB version of a MV; reports are always about the original MV. I don't think Gillian would say no if it was requested since three years ago, there was a movie that was going to be filmed called "Little Sparks", and the director had requested for Kenny and Gillian to be the leads. The cast also included Steven and Yumiko. News articles were made about it and KG were interviewed to ask if they would mind about doing intimate/kissing scenes since they were a couple in the movie, and Gillian replied that if the script required it, she would do it. In the end, the movie was put off, and nothing was heard about it since.

But I don't really want Gillian to give her first screen kiss out in a TVB version of a MV. It's best if she gives it in a movie because it could be a really good selling point to attract viewers. If it attracts viewers, then box office rates would go up and she'd get recognition for it. It wouldn't be too bad if she gave it out in an original MV because people actually have to pay for the CD to buy the MV, but a movie's still the best.

Yes, it was first mentioned after KG's collaboration of The Legend Of Love themesong, which was in about 2003. It was just suddenly put aside without an explaination given afterwards. I've noticed that it's still on the HK movie production 2006 website too, perhaps there's still a chance for them to film it? It's the same thing with 銀河公主 starring Twins and Stephen Fung. It's on the page, but EEG expressed that they're going to postpone the filming of that movie as well.

Oh, I assumed 銀河公主 was going to be the next Twins collaboration movie as they've got one coming up this year. Any idea if this will be their next movie or will it be something else?

You just read my mind about the whole situation of Sa and Isabella switching characters and the overall comments would also alter. Just shows how narrow-minded people can become. Then why even watch a movie when Sa's character Helen in Twins Effect 1, Spring in Twins Effect 2, YoYo in My Wife is 18, Ah Hey in Diva Ah Hey, Nancy in the Death Curse, Ellen in Papa Loves You, Crystal in Love On the Rocks, Meiyan in A Tall Chinese Story, Ziqing in All About Love, and Ella in House of Fury all have a different name for some reason so people should stop watching Sa for Sa and rate the movie based on the film character but oh yeah forgot, all those roles are Sa in reality.

HK does tend to adore and love those bubbly sassy roles which I find them to be cute in the beginning but twice?...grow up already!

Well, I blame EEG for that issue again because Gillian was pushed to be featured in Bug Me Not! but not A Tall Chinese Story?? Why does Gillian have to be guest starring to Isabella when Sa has never done so and has always carried the biggest characters amongst all EEG female artists. In fact, Isabella is actually always the minor character towards Sa like in A Tall Chinese Story and now the new film in Thailand. All of these film productions are sponsored by EEG so it's obvious that Gillian is placed in such a low level of respect that EEG even chooses to promote Isabella more than Gillian. Has Gillian ever played a lead in an EEG film?? Nope! The only main leads (not minor characters) both successful and not have all been out of EEG's realm of production (ex. Happy Go Lucky, Beyond Our Ken, Moving Targets, House of Fury, and 49 Days)! Both Twins Effect I&II (EMG=EEG Productions) were so geared towards Sa, they were driving me up the wall for the title Twins Effect when it was ALL ABOUT SA! So in a way, it was rude of those reporters to abruptly ask Gillian that question but can't really say it's their fault when EEG themselves have placed Gillian on such a low level of respect in comparison to everyone.


I know, I do also hope that perhaps the TVB version isn't released yet since the official one is not yet online at least but normally, the TVB version comes out first right?? Just like Kenny's EEG version with Sa and the EEG one with Ella but both already had TVB Versions already. I guess, EEG promoting the KG Duet was too good to be true.


I also saw some pictures of Athena and Nie Yuan too. The ancient clothing looks so heavy and tough to fight in. The customes are messy but oh well...all we can do now is support Gillian and this serial.

Yeah, Gillian's voice definitely sounds way better in Non-Twins songs. Um, that one music video floating around online for a while now of Happy Go Lucky with Gillian's solo song My Father Mother was a Fan Made music video correct?? Nicely done. I love Gillian's innocence in that film.

EEG rejected Gillian's star role in Abnormal Beauty (which would have definitely multiplied her popularity and recognition) and accepted this mentally ill role for Sa??!! And Sa was the one who ran out of the movie theatre because 49 Days was so claimed to be too much for her??!! What is up with that?


Gillian fat? That person needs to stop viewing life with 10 cameras (cameras do contribute additional weight) and screw her/his glasses on correctly because if Gillian is fat, then I don't even know what term I should use to describe myself. Gillian is 5'3 and 100 lbs, that's already bones. I'm like 5'4 and 115 lbs. so I guess I need to begin a Miss Hong Kong diet too and look like a stick like um Sa?!

Well, Sa fans are always pairing Sa up with Kenny (which I don't have a problem, KC do make a cute pair), Nic, Steven, and GR! Edison because they know or should realize by now that in reality, those males have once before claimed to have a crush on Gillian so sorry to those fans but reality bites doesn't it??

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Sa's mental role turned out to be all bubbly as usual but with a slight twist just to define the "breakthrough" part of her portrayal. Gillian is gradually gaining recognition but much of it sort of depends on promotions because in order for Gillian to receive a sufficient amount of recognition despite the disadvantages of a crappy bias company and an exaggerated favored partner, Gillian has to portray daring roles consecutively to support the fact that her acting abilities have by far exceeded Sa's, Isabella's blah blah and not just by mere chance that she happened to get a good role but it seems like EEG is pushing Gillian out of the way just to make accommodations for Sa.

Hm, it's a Pang Productions, very plausible Sa might get nominated for this role especially with all the authorities rooting for her already anyways. Wouldn't it be extremely hilarious if Isabella got nominated instead?? Wahaha!

No, there is a EEG produced MV for My Father, Mother, and it was made from the scenes of "Happy Go Lucky". I don't know if kawaiilala means that there's a fan made version, but there's an EEG version for sure.

I actually liked the fact that Gillian's solo was just Gillian's solo. That's what makes it unique, and we can actually label it as "Gillian's first solo song". Having Twins re-singing it doesn't bring good effects because the listeners then compare which version was better. For "Next Stop Diva Queen", the majority of people, including critics, agreed that the duet version with both Charlene and Gillian came out to be more exciting to listen to. You're right about how they didn't promote Gillian's solo though. "Next Stop Diva Queen" got famous because of the movie, "Diva Ah Hey!", since it was the themesong. I never even got notice of "My Father, Mother" until Gillian sang it live during the 2004 concert.

If Chalrene does get nominated, it will most likely be for the HK Film Awards or Golden Horse, for those award ceremonies are really politically influenced and results for those could change due to many different elements of the situation, as Renee Liu had once said. I like the Golden Bauhinia Awards more because they're more fair and awards are given based on pure talents and quality.


Well, we can't say that about Charlene since both Gillian and Charlene guest starred in Bug Me Not!, but it's just that Charlene was in for about 3-5 minutes of the film while Gillian was in for about 10-12 minutes of the film, so when you watch it, you'd see Gillian pop up more. Gillian's character was also more significant based on the role, so that's why you would remember her role more. It made me angry when I read the review at lovehkfilm.com because he said something like based on the screentime of each Twin, we can see who is favoured more by the director. I was like, "Excuse me?! :2ar15: " He's elaborating on a 5 minute difference of screentime between two guest star roles of Twins when there's a whole big biased issue out there for us to complain about?!

It's not all that bad that Gillian's not featured in EEG films, other than the fact that it shows how low of a level they set her on, since 95% of EEG films are bashed and complained about in HK. Basically every EEG artist appears in an EEG movie, regardless of a small or large role, but they appear. It's basically only Gillian and Joey who were left out from A Chinese Tall Story. Twins Effect I was going to be based on Gillian's character if things actually went the director's way, and not EEG's, but it didn't go that way. Twins Effect II, I suppose that it was more equal between the two of them in this one. Charlene still appeared a lot though, even when her character didn't directly relate to the plot. The mainland media actually did something in Gillian's justice when TTE II was just about to come out. They wrote all sorts of articles reporting that Gillian is the first female lead of TTE II, and when the film came out, that's when articles started again stating that Twins is in great idol danger because Gillian's more popular than Charlene.

Hmm..... I do believe that TVB versions come out first. It was the other way around for Self Deception though, but it may be because Self Deception was a commercial song for an electronics store, so the original came out first since the original version's the one that commercial take place in if they get a sponsor, then the TVB version came out. So yeah, in most cases, TVB version comes out first. I hope it's a different MV with a separate plot though because sometimes the MVs are the same for both versions except they mess around with the colours and sequences of the scenes. It was like that for Femininity. They changed the hues of colours and cut out the scenes with the cases of noodles since TVB doesn't allow any commercial matters done on their channel unless they're the ones being paid. ' I just hope that they'll release at least one of the versions soon. Or I hope that there are two versions of it.


Gillian mentioned earlier that her character in the serial didn't have to fight that much because she mostly uses poison in the series. That's something new. I still hope it has a good plot and Gillian's character is able to shine. Gillian will show EEG how she can shine through even more though they put her in all these bad positions all the time.

The MV, My Father Mother, is definitely a real one suppoesdly produced by EEG. They were just too lazy to make an official one, so they just ripped it from the scenes of Happy Go Lucky.

I've always believed that Gillian sounds better in non-Twins songs. Have you heard the three songs of Sally, Aaron, and Sammi that they sang during the recent concert? Gillian was great. She was slightly coming off to overriding Charlene's voice. You could still hear them both, but it was basically Gillian's voice as the base and Charlene's voice was kinda in the background.


Standards of human weight is getting lower and lower by the minute. My cousin's friend is a fitness trainer and when she looked on one of those diet charts of "ideal" weight, it showed that she was overweight by A LOT. :lame: Back to the point, Gillian is definitely not fat; she's at a decent weight. I'd rather see her be healthy while having some meat on her than to see her unhealthy with a figure that's practically what an anorexic person would have. I think that Charlene should attempt to gain a bit of weight back too; she looks more mature lately appearance wise, but she also looks so tired. I'd want her to be more healthy.

It's so dumb of when you look in chinese forums, and when you raise a question like "Who do you think makes a good couple with Gillian?" You would get some people who actually answer your question by answering with names like Edison, Nic, or Kenny, but you have some more who go, "None! Gillian is best with Charlene!" At first, you'd be like fine since they're Twins or whatever, but if you look in a thread about "Who do you think makes a good couple with Charlene?" You would get people answering Nic, or Ekin, but we don't have the "None! Charlene is best with Gillian!" thing going on. How fair is that? It's mostly because of the restriction things that Gillian has tied on her back. That's mainly why Gillian can't be off making an on-screen couple image with a male artist; fans are mainpulated to thinking towards Gillian's "pure" image of how she should stay "loyal" to Charlene, thought it doesn't apply to Charlene.

It's always like that. If Gillian receives anything that will directly or indirectly affect Charlene in any way, it's a rejection for the job right off the bat. There's probably where her restrictions come from as well. BOK was probably unexpected towards EEG. They probably let her do it because it had a weak cast, and the plot was mature, but of course, it wacked them at the back of their heads when it came out to getting good box office results and landed Gillian positive comments on the improved acting. I'm thinking that Charlene's role might come out similar to her past roles as well. It wouldn't be surprising at all. Each time I see news written about Charlene's new movie, and how it's described to be different than her past ones, I start anticipating it, but in the end, I get disappointed.

And I'm not sure about this but I think the program called DVD Shrink or something like that can help rip dvds. Ill need to ask my brother on that since he uses it. I don't think it's bad that Gillian wasn't in those EEG films...I hate the storyline for 'A Chinese Tall Story'...If was bad enough for the TVB verison where the monkey king 'fell' in love but how ridiculous is it to make the monk fall in love?? It totally ruined the reputation of him and the novel...In Twins Effect 1, I actually thought the character Gypsy was so much more better...Even though Helen was the main lead, I thought Gypsy was more effective and memorable...the only thing I don't like is the coupling..lolx..About TE 2, I just don't like it at all...the plot was really pointless to me...

The duet version of "Next Stop Diva Queen" does appear more refershing and enchanting versus the solo. The touch of Gillian's voice just makes the overall song more interesting. It seems like the Sa solo was nice but in a way lacked a beating emotion that was only introduced when Gillian's voice joined to sing the duet.

Hm, when I first heard the mp3 of My Father, Mother online...I automatically fell in love with it. Then I searched for the movie and purchased it but too bad, the DVD didn't include any special features or anything except for small clips of Gillian at the blind/disabled center. I really wanted the DVD to include the MV or something.

Well, I'm just upset how EEG doesn't promote Gillian whatsoever even in comparison to a newbie like Isabella. Joey is a full time singer so she's a bit different from Gillian. Even though the majority of EEG films are bashed and criticized but that just straight out shows how bias they are towards Gillian. Seriously, Gillian has been thankful and blessed that the recent films EEG actually permitted her to invest in became huge hits because that was obviously not their intentions. Twins Effect II was better than Twins Effect I in screentime but Sa still populated the screen in which her character was minor that of Gillian.

Speaking about switching roles...this is my assumption which could likely be true or not knowing how EEG operates...why if the current mental role actually requested Gillian to portray but EEG simply substituted her with Sa because they see it as a golden opportunity for Sa to shine?

Huh? These fans who comment have a weird sense of logic. Gillian paired up Sa? That's not even realistically possible. The being faithful to only Sa is another dumb issue Gillian faces alone while Sa is free to kiss, hug, have bed scenes, and paired up with almost anyone fans believe to be cute enough for Sa.

All of Gillian's lead hits were predicted either to be flops or close to unsuccessful films by EEG and all of Sa's films are foreshadowed to be extreme box office hits which explains all the heavy promotions for almost all of her solo films but fortunately, everything was the reverse. Hm, I'm still waiting on this film of Sa's to make a judgment because if Sa is going to portray this character similar to Hidden Heroes or Leave Me Alone...um oh boy, though her characters weren't horrible horrible but rather uninteresting and weird storyline that killed the film.

Uh huh, I personally prefer the duet version as well. I actually started listening to the solo version first; it only felt like it was a song of which the lyrics were easy to remember with a nice melody, but I loved the song when I heard the duet. After I've heard the duet, somehow I can never go back to listening to the solo again since I always feel that something important's missing from the song. During the solo, when the second verse comes around, I always prepare to listen for a higher and clear voice, but when it doesn't come up, it just doesn't feel right.


I fell in love with My Father, Mother when hearing Gillian perform it live at the 2004 concert. It also made me fall in love with Gillian too. That's when the Gillian > Twins thing came over to me. Like I'm still supporting for Twins in general, but I'd be there for Gillian as first priority if something comes in between them. Happy Go Lucky didn't come with anything at all; it was just a simple original DVD with the movie, and that's it. But then including the MV isn't too much to ask. The clips were during the credits of where the three of them went to visit disabled people, and made references to how to act as a disabled person, right? I liked watching that; it seemed even nicer and more warming than the regular NG shots.

Yeah, Charlene was in Bug Me Not!. She was a host of a talent show or something. Gillian had persuaded Wilson to enter the contest, and Charlene was the host of it. I think she was also a misfit of some kind as well since she was able to fly/float. Anyway, after the show, she also helped to free some bugs too. To sum it up, that was about 5 minutes of the film at the most.

There was also a comment placed for "The Death Curse" that is:
"The actors are untrained (the Boy'z are no great shakes, but they're not annoying) or typical (Raymond Wong mugs, Charlene Choi whines, and Gillian Chung shines), but if anything the film plays to their strengths and/or weaknesses. "


I know. Even Isabella is more favoured by EEG than Gillian is, and Gillian is way more popular and well-liked, even when compared to Charlene, never mind Isabella. For the EEG films, we can just console ourselves by saying that at least Gillian won't be part of the being trashed group. It's an interesting yet funny thing that when Twins are both guest starring in a movie, usually playing twins with each other, articles and critics mostly express that Gillian outshined Charlene. (For example, their roles in Fantasia where they were playing the chopstick sisters, I remember reading an article on it about how Gillian stole the spotlight.) You see, when they only guest star, neither is favoured over the other, or *ahem* Charlene's role isn't more favoured than Gillian's role because they're doing the same thing; whereas, we get many claims of how Charlene's acting is so much better than Gillian's when it's a Twins-based movie, or shall we say a Charlene-based movie? Gillian's such a nice girl. She's thankful for many things even when they weren't intentionally supposed to go that way. Her good results were based on her own charm and talents; perhaps fate wanted to give Gillian a helping hand towards her biased treatments too?

Another thing I have to love Gillian about is she knows when it's her time to take the spotlight or not. It's like her role in "Love on the Rocks". Even though she had a guest starring role in there, Gillian refused to let the director add her name on the main cast list though the director said he wanted her name to be there. Gillian replied by saying that this is a Charlene movie, and she is just taking part in it to give her partner some support, so she has no business of stepping up into the main cast list when it is Charlene's solo time to shine. So the director respected her wishes and left her off of the list.

Knowing EEG, it could very well be possible, but they'd probably be more cautious about the news after what happened with TTE of when the role switching got leaked out. I'm feeling more suspicious than ever now about movie opportunities for Gillian. I remember reading of how director Joe Ma expressed that BOTH Twins had great potential in acting after working with them on "Summer Breeze Of Love", but supposedly he had only got Charlene to do a movie for him afterwards which was "Diva Ah Hey!". Anything clues on that? If anyone wants to give me some crap on how he probably just thinks that Charlene is a better actress, that's why he only asked Charlene, and not Gillian for another movie, then answer me why would he say that TWINS had potential in acting. He could've might as well said CHARLENE had potential in acting since it's not like anyone with political power could trash him since he is a famous director and clearly it's not Gillian whom is favoured by EEG. If he said Gillian, but not Charlene, then it would've been a big shocker for EEG, and they would play some tricks about that if it happened. Who knows what else happened under the tables in concern to Gillian's opportunities?

*gasp* I think I know another reason to why 銀河公主 is being put off!! Because I remember reading news on 銀河公主 when it was already ready to begin their filming in the next month or so, and the article was titled and mentioned that 銀河公主 was starring Stephen Fung and Gillian Chung. Then in the contents of the article, it mentioned that Charlene will also be featured in the film. Could that be why it's put off? Not because of budget disagreements, but because the script featured Gillian over Charlene? Perhaps director Jeff Lau isn't like director Dante Lam who was willing to swap roles between actresses?!


It's probably why EEG has practically cut off all Gillian's film producing rates. It's because Gillian manages to create a big hit and receives recognition by others with what they predicted to be a flop with barely any promotions, like 49 Days only had one before the premiere date; whereas, Charlene was the one who made flops and many of her films were trashed with what they predicted to be a great hit with a function/promotion practically one per day if not once every two days for A Chinese Tall Story. EEG probably doesn't want Gillian's popularity to grow anymore so that it'll be hard for them to cover it up and manipulate others to thinking that Charlene's the more popular one.

It was quite funny when I read a piece of news about Nicholas practicing his fighting skills with Donnie Yen, who was helping to train him for film. Nic did a kick, and Donnie said, "Come on, Nic! You're kicking like Ah Sa!" Nic then frowned and did another one, and Donnie said, "There you go! Maybe at this rate, you'll catch up to Ah Gil!"




I found these really cute photos of Steven fixing Gillian's hair for her during the promotion of 49 Days!! Steven's so cute, but it doesn't seem like Gillian was aware that he was doing that.

Steven is cute. At times I can't help but to notice that he loves flirting with Gillian, obviously. It's funny, the two that EEG despises such as Gillian and Steven, they were both sort of slyingly predicted to fail in 49 Days together but instead turned out to be the Top Box Office Hit for several weeks defeating EEG's so cherished artists like Sa, Kenny, and Nic in "A Tall Chinese Story."

Thanks for the suggestion of the DVD Ripping Program but I think if I chose that method, it would be too much space for my crappy hard drive because I would have to rip so many movies which include:

plus some other MVs like Edison's Are You Happy? and Twins' Thank You for Your Love.

Gillian is too considerate towards some people that doesn't deserve to be courteous towards. But that is such a humble and lovable nature though. I loved both Twins in Fantasia because yes they both did have the same screentime and plus their portrayals actually flowed together pretty well. I can't believe Sa's name was actually in the cast and her picture was right alongside Gigi and Louis's on the cover when her character was relatively the same screentime as Gillian's guest star appearance; well, a bit more but not by much. Hm, Sa's character Crystal was actually enjoyable and I even sympathized for her in the end; well, more like cheering her on with Louis instead of Gigi. I didn't really like that movie, it wasn't as deep as it intended to be. If the ending had switched and Louis ended up with Sa, hm...perhaps the film would had been better because honestly, I didn't think Louis and Gigi deserved each other. They both weren't compatible at all and their issues were quite simple to solve yet they kept dwelling forever which realistically will kill the relationship. I mean, if the both of them can't even survive small issues together how are they supposed to overcome bigger and more difficult issues?? Louis and Sa should had developed an intimate lovely relationship together when she was helping him discover his flaws/faults. Hurgh~

I absolutely agree with you. I couldn't had worded it better. These speculations seem upmost true and it really sucks to witness every bias thing accomplished towards Gillian yet Fans are still so ignorant and narrow minded in terms of defending her. Even some directors do not have enough power to choose their own cast but rely on a company like EEG to make the final calls because they want to feature EEG artists in their film.

It is quite dumb how Sa sort of has to live off Gillian's stardom and success. Like ever since the huge hit of 49 Days (or perhaps a bit earlier)...now a scheduled movie of Twins is being processed under the same director?? Like why?? Why can't it just be Gillian rather than both Twins?? Gillian deserves it. (I'm a bit confused, so Gillian is going to film a sequel and another film as Twins with the same director? If so, it's still unfair. Gillian deserves to film both films solo if that was the case.) And I am quite certain that somehow the final product of the film will gear towards Sa. It has always been that way and will most likely happen again in every Twins movie except when they're guest starring. And it's all because EEG wishes for Sa to achieve the same success as Gillian thus collaborating with the same director and only featuring Gillian not as the so called duo of Twins but rather so people can further compare how Sa is better blah blah therefore she got the bigger role bleh~!

I hate how people make the assumption that if an actor gets a bigger role they are better. There are many cases in movies where it is more of a challenge to portray the supporting character than the main character. Just because someone is the main actor it does not necessarily mean that they are a better actor, it's just that other actors do not get the opportunity.

I bet that now that Boy'Z have been regrouped, Steven's going to share the same fate of not being included in EEG films. Steven was in "A Tall Chinese Story" because he was still part of Boy'Z with Kenny back then. Now that Kenny has nothing to do with Boy'Z, Steven rarely gets any attention. The only exposure that he gets is from "49 Days" and an advertisement(?) job that Joey decided to share with Boy'Z. I'm so glad that box office showed EEG in their faces what their "less favoured" ones can do with a "predicted failing" of "49 Days", which is being way more successful and recognized with both script and acting than their "more favoured ones" with a "predicted hit for Charlene to get Best Actress with", "A Tall Chinese Story".

Well, the scheduled movie for Twins was really scheduled for Twins from the beginning because the producer has a favour towards both Twins. She is the producer of "49 Days" and believe or not, "The Death Curse". Man, "49 Days" got so much recognition, but wasn't "The Death Curse" kinda referred to as being kinda dumb and cheesy? Anyway, the producer expressed that she tried out using Charlene as main in "The Death Curse", and then landed a leading role on Gillian for "49 Days", so she would like to use them both as the leads for her next film. I didn't really get that part since Gillian was in both films, but I suppose she means that since Gillian was a supporting character in The Death Curse, she would like her to have an equal leading part with Charlene in the upcoming movie?

I agree that somehow some cards will be played by EEG towards the producing company, so things balancing between Gillian and Charlene will be messed around with somehow. They could start off with a fairly equal part, but somehow gear it all towards Charlene. Or even worse yet, the script could've written Gillian's character as leading over a bit more, but still gear it towards Charlene. It's either one way or another; I'm pretty sure of it.

銀河公主 is different though because it's practically postponed to who-knows-when. We don't even know if it will be filmed yet. At least the film with "49 Days"'s producer is still confirmed at the moment.

I could see if they really wanted Gillian at the singing end of the two possible routes as Joey is as a full-time singer in the future; therefore, they are reducing her film producing rates (though it's like from little -> none ) for her to develop more on singing. Even then, it still doesn't make it acceptable. It's just that if that was the reason, then it'd at least be reasonable. Now it merely just seems like Gillian always has to step aside for Charlene to go first in everything. Gillian has no movies left in storage. Her last one filmed was "49 Days". Does it seem like EEG artists, besides Twins, are only able to take one end of their career? Joey = singing, Nic = acting, Kenny = singing, Steven = acting, Don/Mandy = singing? It's only Twins who are able to keep up with both, except now it seems like it's slowly turning around to the fact of, Gillian = singing, Charlene = singing/acting, and Isabella = singing/acting.
