Yeah, I was kinda pissed when I saw the Eason one since Gillian was just flashing once or twice throughout the whole thing when Charlene had actual steady scenes of her in it. The Aaron one was good because it was equal between them. I think it's only fair if Gillian got more screentime than Charlene in the Denise one, seeing what happened in the Eason one. The Twins one had better be equal as well. But then again, we really won't know until it comes out since when has the word 'fair' ever appeared among Twins?

It seems like the world's turned around for Gillian ever since Mani stepped foot back in HK. I liked it when the other guy, Ng Yu, was in charge of the EEG artistes while Mani was in America. He seemed to be very equal with everyone. I really don't know why Gillian and Kenny's performance was cancelled; was there a reason to cancel it? It would've meant that they would get no. 1 for their duet if they went on, and what kind of record company wouldn't want their songs to get no. 1 on music charts? Does Mani really dislike Gillian that much to prevent her from getting any chances? Even if it means losing recognition for the company? Does she really have THAT much power? Because it really seems like no one is all that biased with their artistes but her, and she must have a lot of decision-making power if she can flip flop everything immediately when she got back. Gee, Mani's care for Charlene is beyond my thinking.

Now I really want the cantonese album to come out, so we can get some hints to the future plans for Gillian and Charlene. I wish someone with a higher power can do something about the dealings that Mani's doing with each member of Twins. We Gillian fans know that Gillian has potential in singing, but if it's Mani who's restraining her from it, we gotta take action! :xiao3: I should start sending emails to EEG again, haven't sent any recently. It slightly seems like things are slightly better for Gillian when we do send those emails, but it could just be me. *shrugs* Really hope that Gillian's solo could be promoted more to show us that there is a possibility for Gillian to go solo in the future. I hope the results of her own productions will be successful, then Gillian can shred the talentless label. Gillian's composing songs and writing lyrics while Charlene is just writing lyrics, right? Because Charlene only mentioned about herself writing lyrics and how she gets ideas while Gillian told about how she's sent a few of her composed melodies in to Ronald Ng and what Gillian hopes to write about in lyrics. Well, Charlene being thin is good but I don't think her being so thin now is good for her health. If you notice how skinny she is on camera (pretty scary) just imagine seeing her real life. Cameras do put on a few pounds on her so yea.

The solos are going to be on the Cantonese album. "Next Stop Diva Queen" was promoted from a solo into a duo song while Gillian's were just on the CD and no promotion or whatever were made. I guess in a way that's good because we can safely say that's Gillian's song to some extend....

If you read the previous discussions that asillysaint and I have had, you would see our reasonings to why Gillian could handle going solo. Gillian actually has a powerful voice, but it seems like even she doesn't know how to control and let out the strength in her voice, due to the lack of training in singing that EEG provides.

How could there not be much support from the audience? The fans that JSG invite and send tickets out to are the fans in each singer's official fanclub. Don't tell me that you think Gillian and Kenny don't have enough fans to fill a few rows of seats. From our previous discussions again, Mani won't freeze up Gillian completely because Twins are still a bit interdependent on each other. Gillian is the more popular Twin, so Mani can't throw her in the fridge since Twins still has to somewhat depend on Gillian. But at the same time, she also won't let Gillian have chances to race ahead of Charlene. It isn't just on Charlene, we know; the problem is even when being compared to Isabella, Gillian still doesn't get more support from Mani/EEG. At least Isabella was invited to participate in the EMG films with all the various EEG artistes while Gillian was left out of them all besides the ones that were starring Twins. Right now, Charlene and Isabella are mainly the ones who are balancing between acting and singing; Gillian seems to be gradually pulled out of acting.

I seriously doubt EEG would be that dumb to "freeze" Gillian (or like you said leave her doing nothing), considering she's actually one of their few artists (along with Joey, Nicholas and Charlene) who actually make alot of money. The other ones such as Isabella, Mandy, Don, Yumiko etc. don't have as large fanbase, thus earning less...

And regarding the JSG thing, if I'm correct it is indeed the HK citizens who vote for the songs they like. But since TVB invited both Gillian & Kenny to perform that night and the song was at the 7th place the previous week, doesn't that mean the song does has some recognition and support from the audience/the people in HK? Otherwise...how could it be albe to make it to the top ten then?

I didn't think Gillian would be at a disadvantage again especially when it's a commercial involving other stars instead of just Twins but seems like Gillian can never escape that injustice thrown upon her in any event or project, big or small if the label "Twins" is involved. I had to watch the short 30 sec commercial two times before I could even recognize that Gillian actually had a teeny tiny part, in which the overall product didn't even bother zooming in on her face but rather captured her while her curly hair was covering her face.

The different versions aren't too far apart in showing scenes of Gillian.


Hm, when exactly did Mani return back to HK? Seems like all of these misfortunes that are forcing Gillian back into her suffocating shell have begun to erupt again ever since Mani's arrival. Mani does have a lot of power. She decides who stays and who exits. She's the main manager for the majority of EEG artists, old and new. Well, to pull Gillian out of everything successful is to pave way for *ahem* later on so if you were to perceive it from a Mani point of view, it would be logical. Since Twins are in preparation of releasing their Mandarin and Cantonese albums before the official split, if all that wasn't a hoax, wouldn't want Gillian to lead away. If Kenny and Gillian performed an excellent live duet, wouldn't KG be more in demand than Twins themselves? KG would be something new and refreshing towards the HK market. Both can sing live quite well. That would further place Sa in an awkward position. Gillian's latest box office hits were already a huge enough blow. The one thing that completely bothers me is: Nic presented himself onstage at the Twins 2006 Concert in reminisce of the Nic-Sa relationship in A Tall Chinese Story, in which fans had no idea nor ever really cared to request such a surprise and they could have sang their duet together if time permitted, but this KG live duet on JSG was something the audience wanted and deeply voted for but in the end cancelled?? Hm, gee...thanks EEG for such poor decisions.

Just like the serial. Gillian has just begun her real acting career on theatres, she didn't have to accept the character of Ching Ling So. It's odd to have the popular Gillian Chung portray a supporting actress throughout a serial rather than just as a guest star like previous occasions in her films. While Sa was busy working in Thailand, Gillian had to be outside of HK too so in the meantime, why not have her film a serial as part of her busy work. But to everyone's surprise, CLS was modified to have much more scenes and importance in this new adaption, which really conveys how confident the filming crew is towards Gillian, enough to make major alterations in her favor. Let's just hope, this serial will make a new true breakthrough for Gillian in a different arena. I would not at all be surprised if Sa began filming serials after Gillian's positive exposure but sadly, Sa would most likely be the lead since EEG is so keen on Sa's special lead roles or else no participation. Gillian seems to be the breakthrough for both Twins.

I do hope that Gillian's personal song will capture the audience like never before. It would really help if EEG allowed Gillian to vibrate her voice in the higher notes but I doubt it since both Twins haven't accomplised that together yet. Seems like the only thing missing are the high vibrating notes to expose Gillian's singing potential.


Well, can't blame the singing instructors. The singing instructors are just following what has been requested of them. I bet if the singing instructors had it their way, Twins would be singing high notes live with vocal vibrations.

Sometimes, when you haven't experienced a breakthrough or a trigger to reach maximum level or a potential level, you really have no control because you yourself is confused about your own potential. That's the case for Gillian. Jolin Tsai experienced the same difficulty. Only recently has Jolin been able to visibly control her vocals.

Yes, the two main female artists EEG currently is promoting most are Isabella and Sa. We are all aware of that just by observing various incidences that have obviously shown EEG's favoritism. In addition to answer blurgal's question, the reason why we don't mention Isabella as much as Sa is because Sa is part of Twins, a direct association to Gillian. It's like how people feel sorry for Sa that Gillian has more fan support (ex. AF, that's why both Gillian/Sa/Twins fans have contributed into reviving the Sa thread to be equal to Gillian's thread); well, there are other fans who also sympathize for Gillian that Sa receives more promotions. If fans on this forum already feel the urge to keep Twins at a fair game then it is very common that Twins will always be correlated together. So fans can feel sorry for Sa for not being as pretty or not having as many fan support but fans are forbidden to mention the bias amount of promotions each Twins (Gillian) receives?

True. The song was successful on the charts due to the support of HK residents who may or may not be KG fans but just simply enjoyed the song and supported it. And did I mention that this song was quite a success without all of the extra promotions that EEG could have done?

Gillian went to a Beijing Music Award alone today I think. She sang the mando verison of LifeSaver..she look sooo pretty! Take a look! And I love the way her hair is expect don't like what she wore...but love her hair! Lol

Reguarding dancing, well personally when I watch Twins dance, Char doesn't seem to constantly be ahead to me. Not from what I have seen. A post a read here made it seem like Charlene was the reason why Twins dancing together doesn't look to good, and maybe I read wrong or maybe that is the person's honest opinion, but if it is then I have to disagree. I think both Twins have the potential to dance well, but at the moment I give Charlene the slight edge and only because her movements seem more fluid to me, why with Gillian, a bit more calculated and reserved? Not that that is a bad thing because those are good qualities to gave to look good doing kung fu, which is one of the reasons I give Gill the edge over Char reguarding martial arts. Oops...this is comparing, isn't it? Well I didn't mean it as a comparison over which is "better", cause when it comes down to it I think both Twins are equally as good as the other, they both have their strengths and weaknesses and that is why I like them together best!

Now as for Mani and her stupid 30 pound comment, well, I think she was practicing the art of exagerration (she better have been!) I mean, Gill loosing 30 pounds would be disgusting, she would be waaaaaaaaayyyyyy thinner than Charlene and Charlene is already almost too thin! Still I think that was awfully rude comment for Mani to say And I am mad at MANI for it...And I am mad at EEG for how they treat Gill (and Twins too, infact)...I just hope people don't get mad at Charlene for EEG's and Mani's mistakes!

Gill looked gorggeooooooooooousssssssssssss at the Beijing Music Awards! Her hair, OMG, it suits her so well!!!!! Makes her look very womanly and just beautiful. Because her hair is so nice, I won'tcomplain about her dress....but isn't it just amazing how Gillian can manage to look gorgeous even when her hair and clothes are not so nice?

I think the JSG chart does depend on what the HK citizens like and of course what TVB likes. It's true of how if the song got up onto the chart, it must have some kind of recognition and support. I'm pretty sure that the song would've stayed there or received no. 1 if Kenny and Gillian's performance wasn't turned down by EEG. The bad thing about TVB is that they take your song off of the chart if you don't do what they say, even when the case is like so, that Gillian nor Kenny had any say in it, and there goes their duet down the drain. Actually, I guess their duet didn't do that bad, seeing that EEG had made no promotions of the song, but it still managed to get a place in the charts.

I'm not sure when Mani return to HK, but it's probably recently. From a Mani's perspective, she wants Kenny promoted, but not Gillian, so that could explain the cancelled performance of the two. I read from the news that Mani's going to invest for Kenny to start acting again; he's filming a film with Fiona, and EMG is going to start another film for him to be the male lead in. Hmm, maybe it could be the film that Twins are going to film? Anyway, Mani might not have wanted KG to get into demand because if that happened, she would have to give exposure to Gillian as well if she intends to promote Kenny, . Of course, as you've said, it would make the gap between Twins more visible with Gillian's recent recognitions. I wonder if there'll be another duet between KG later on that is so good that EEG just has to promote it? Probably not, but it'd be cool if KG worked together to produce a song, Gillian can compose the melody while Kenny can write the lyrics. It would make a huge attraction; two artistes collaborate together in a song that they've produced themselves.

I hope for Gillian's serial to release soon; from the praises that she's received from the cast and crew, I think Gillian really has made a breakthrough in her acting from this serial. I'm sure that Gillian really does add a factor in how this serial fairs in its ratings. Gillian said that she has about 20-30 episodes in this serial of 40 episodes; she was on a very tight schedule to have all that done in one month. I think we'd all be huddling around this thread of ours, going 'Why aren't we surprised?' with a look if Charlene received a role in a serial after Gillian proved the serial filming path to be open for more recognition in acting.

There just may be hope for Gillian in the vibrating of her voice since she is being the producer of her song. If she's being the producer of her song, then I'm sure she'll do some research into what would be the best way to portray her song in, and she might be able to find her path into unraveling her own voice to expose her potential. I hope that's what happens with Gillian's solo.

Well, Sa was slightly ahead of the fellow dancers while Gillian was slightly behind. But I as well believe that Sa is the better dancer when Twins dance together. Perhaps Sa is taller, her physical proportions tend to compliment their dance moves better. Gillian dances nice too but at times you can tell that Gillian has difficulty dancing and singing simultaneously because Gillian is sort of a perfectionist.

Finally, Kenny somehow receives a lead role other else than 6AM but why Fiona? I would also love to listen to a KG self-produced song. I want both KG to stretch their voices more intertwiningly; how beautfiful that would sound.


Gillian's films have always been out of mainstream yet still received a good amount of recognition; it's not strange at all that people favor Sa more in the acting industry. Sa began her films with the automatic sassy bubbly girl next door which in any audience would gain support but Gillian's early films including now as well have always been different; sometimes, the HK audience rejects uncommon films. A newcomer either has to portray an extremely bubbly character or insanely weird role to gain full support now in the theatres; when did the scope of acting narrow down to only that much?

I think everyone has gotten so bitter due to the HK ET slump, people are blaming the "better" looking singers/actors as the initial cause of it. Well, if one views the issue from the surface, it may direct that way but when did the ET industry not have any good looking stars?? Talent? I think a lot of the better looking stars have potential and talent but their companies are afraid to create something new, something different to present them with due to fear of failure. But anyways, that's totally off topic.

I am beyond impressed and speechless. Gillian hit the notes even higher than usual and on CD. Gillian was in no hesitation like previous solo live performances. Gillian has tremendously improved. If Gillian keeps strengthening her weaknesses, she will indeed only grow into a successful singer. Though Gillian couldn't fully complete a few high notes but this performance already reveals how much Gillian is beginning to transition from a Twins member into a solo artist who will endure the high and lows of a song alone. Gillian just needs a bit more practice, a few touches on her vocals when she reaches the very high notes, and adopt the vibrations within the high notes, Gillian will no doubt exceed the stereotypes placed upon her.

This was indeed another great live performance under Gillian's belt. I guess, Gillian has been dilligently improving. If you compare the earlier performance to this recent one, you will notice a great difference. In the previous performance, Gillian had some difficulty mastering the peak of the chorus towards the end which requires the most strength and emphasis, but this time around, Gillian executed it beautifully despite forgetting a few lyrics; during this part, her voice was much stronger and ironically higher in range than usual too which comes to show Gillian does possess potential in singing very high notes, higher notes than Twins together have sang combined, but Gillian just needs a bit more confidence to master it in no time.

Let's discuss. I'm so proud of Gillian! She's already breaking some labels.

Thanks for the .wma verison!! If Charlene is done promoting her movie, it's pretty weird she wasn't able to attend. I think she still would be able to have made it though if she was doing promotion but I don't really care because I can hear another Gillian solo..lolx..It would have been nice if she sang another song since she already sang lifesaver already but I guess we could actually compared if she improved or not from her first performance.

I think Gillian is getting the hang of it already. She started singing and it sounded really confident to me and continued to be throughout the song.

I think Gillian was confident during this performance as well, despite how she expressed during an interview that she actually felt a bit nervous and her heart was beating faster than usual at the beginning, but she also said that it wasn't a problem for her that she was singing solo . She didn't sound hesitating at all! It's actually pretty good that she gets to sing the same song twice because that way she can show us what improvements she has made since her last performance. This performance of Hover Bird felt quite different from the last time. She sang the song at a higher pitch this time with more confidence; she seems to have sang it in her 'own way'. Like..... her solo had a different effect than the CD version; not in quality, but it felt 'different' listening to it. I don't even know if I'm getting to what I want to say....... '

Anyway, I think the only flaws of this solo performance was the part where she forgot a few lyrics and I thought she should've carried on the 'Xiao Niao' a bit longer at the very end instead of letting it go so quickly. *sigh* Gillian just needs some songs that are suitable for her and songs that can reveal her potential in singing. I wonder if Gillian's liking between singing and acting has changed now? She used to say that she favoured singing more before the incident of damaging her vocals, then previously she expressed that she favoured acting more; I wonder what she likes now? Because I'm sure that Gillian herself is discovering that she can do way more in singing than what she has done before after doing these solos; then again, the success in the box office from '49 Days' is a big reassurance for acting.



Yeah, I would've liked her to sing a different song since she sang this before already as well, but it's nice to hear her sing it twice since we can note her improvements from each one. Gillian sure did make improvements of both her singing and her confidence.

Even though I don't really mind that Charlene didn't attend either since I do look forward to hearing Gillian solos, (No offence to Charlene of course, but I just like listening to Gillian singing solo.) I still find it weird of how she didn't attend. There weren't any promotions of her films since none of them are released yet; Gillian expressed that she was filming for something, but isn't she done all her films already? The only one she has is the one with Gillian, starting in June.

truly i think that gillian does a lot better while singing solo. =x it's sad to say, but it's true. her voice i guess stands out more when she's singing alone, as to when she sings with charlene. maybe she feels competitive when she performs with charlene. and with a competitive heart, you can never do your best.

but what disappointed me was the amount of applauses. there seems to be only a few people screaming her name from here to there, but there were no big applauses from the audience as a whole. =T but it's okay, as long as know that gillian did her best!

I'm glad that Gillian has adapted to performing live solo and since we've heard Gillian sing beautifully solo several times now, there should be no reason to the blame both Twins for sounding shaky or bad after 5-6 years of being in the music industry.

I agree. This live performance transcends quite a different sensation versus all the rest. I was quite surprised Gillian even sang this highly when the original notes aren't required to stretch this high. I'm glad that it was quite a successful attempt. She just needs to stretch it longer and a bit stronger.

I guess Gillian feels much safer in acting. NGs are allowed in acting but there's only a one-time shot in singing so there is definitely more pressure and anxiety. Like many have stated, I believe that Twins do feel a bit out of place, when rising singers like Janice and Justin who have gained full support of the audience with their first albums, stand next to them. The HK market has become a bit more competitive in comparison to the past years. That's a wonderful thing. I hope the HK industry only grows more and more competitive so the artists can be encouraged to their maximum level of potential including Gillian.

Hm, I was amused actually to be hearing guys that age or that mature cheering for Gillian; the majority of fans who cheer for Twins are females/girls. Rarely do I ever hear guys of that age group root for either Twin. Different regions have different crowds. This crowd was definitely more male dominated than the last one. You know boys/men, they tend to cheer off on their own rather than teaming up like girls so that's why the applauses sounded thin. Perhaps the Beijing crowd was a bit less exposed to Twins in general?

Anyways, Gillian sounded great overall!

He hated Twins in every single movie because he thought they were extremely exaggerating the "cute" image but just recently in HOF, my brother who is a big fan of martial arts films fell in love with Gillian during the "sibling fight" between Stephen and Gillian for the television remote control and the "Pass me the Chicken" joke at the table.

He broke out in laughter when he heard Twins sing at this one event in Taiwan; they sang "No Tears In Moscow." Sadly, I have to agree with him. Twins for some reason sang the most horrible at that function.

Speaking of "No Tears in Moscow," that's one of the songs I wish to listen to Gillian perform live solo. The tune is gentle, quite suitable for Gillian's sweet voice. I really want Gillian to elevate the notes into even a higher range when she sings "No Tears In Moscow," how beautiful that would sound. I guess, this performance is the true version of how Gillian wishes to sing it, which is high in range of notes. Oh and then that also introduces the solo request of "Kite and Wind" too.

Gillian is really pretty; even I who am a girl at times envy how pretty she is lol. Well, not exactly envy but admire her physical beauty.

yea, i really like the softness of no tears in moscow. i think gillian can do a great job in singing it. ;D hehe. she showed me that she has the potential to perfect that song live! although gillian can hit the high notes, i still think that she needs improvement on the strength of her notes. it'd be best if she can stretch her notes like charlene can, but keeping her tone as well. i don't care so much for vibrato, long as she can hit the notes and can make it strong. stretching the notes also don't bother me as much. it's just those two aspects that i'm expecting.

i admire her beauty as well. but i have to admit that my admiration can turn into envy at times. i can't help it. it's something that i'll always have to live with.

Yeah, it isn't easy to come back in when the song is at its climax, requiring a big stretch of the voice, but Gillian did it!! I really hope to hear more improvements from her.

I don't know about Beijing; but when Twins held a concert there in Beijing last year, I heard that the tickets sales wasn't quite successful when comparing to the other places that they've held concerts at, so maybe Beijing isn't very familiar with Twins since they only had one mandarin album out. The only contradicting thing to this is that the last time Gillian went to Beijing alone for an awards ceremony, performing Hover Bird as well, the crowd was VERY passionate towards her. The chanting of 'Gillian' didn't stop until at least 30 seconds after she was finished with her song. Perhaps more of her fans went to that ceremony?


I agree that 'No Tears in Moscow' and 'Kite And Wind' are pretty good selections for Gillian to sing solo. Gillian really gave a tearjerking feeling when she sang 'No Tears in Moscow' especially with that mild tune she used with her voice; I agree that it would most likely sound even nicer if Gillian were able to raise the notes to portray a better feeling of the song. Since Charlene sang the cantonese version solo, Gillian should sing the mandarin version solo. I don't know if she will because even though 'No Tears in Moscow' was plugged as one of their songs, it doesn't seem like it received any awards. 'Starlight Amusement Park' was the song that received most of the awards from Twins' debut mandarin album, most likely because it's an original song. I like 'Next Stop Diva Queen' and 'No Tears in Moscow' equally; even though it's the same melody, they did make alterations to it for it to suit the topic they're singing about. What a big range with one melody, you can go from the dreams of a young girl to a tearjerking romance story with the same tune. Hopefully, there are still more award ceremonies in Mainland with different songs being awarded so Gillian can have more chances to sing different songs solo. I wonder if it could be possible for Gillian to sing 'Kite And Wind' solo? It seems even less likely than 'No Tears in Moscow' because of the rounding parts in it; I think I'll just have to keep listening to that solo version that I made to hear Gillian sing 'Kite And Wind' solo.

Gillian looks so beautiful in these pictures. I love how her hair looks and her dress, even the neck thing that no one seems to like, I love. Thank-you everyone for sharing all those music of Gillian's solo. Goshs, she is improving so much! gotta love her.

I think I'm the only one who didn't find this performance that great. Maybe it was the quality of the file, which btw, thanks for sharing, or maybe I'm not used to the Mandarin version of Lifesaver. I do agree that Gillian's voice has improve, but one thing that needs work is stretching out the notes, she seems to end it very abruptly. That's really the main thing that bothers me the most, and I hope she'll be able to hold her notes more smoothly next time (is there going to be a next time any time soon?)

Yeah, but since Gillian elevated the notes higher than the usual CD versions and previous performances, I guess it's understandable why Gillian couldn't holdout on stretching the high notes longer nor stronger. I would love to hear Sa stretch as high, as long, and as strong but I'm afraid the recent "Kindergarten" incident migh result. Well, I personally don't really care either whether Gillian can accomplish the vibrato aspect of singing her high notes or not but that's usually necessary for singers to be recognized as good singers so that would actually help Gillian break some stereotypes if Gillian can vibrate because we all already know that high notes aren't exactly Gillian's weak spot. Of course, Gillian hasn't performed her best in high notes but with a bit more practice, I'm sure she won't disappoint us whether it be the duration or strenght of the high and low notes.

Yeah, that is true. But the majority of fans who were cheering for Gillian in the previous performance were females versus this event where males are who we hear dominating the yelling crowd. Oh well.

Oh, I know huh? I love how Gillian weakly sings "No Tears In Moscow" as if her heart is about to shatter pulling the hearts of the listeners with her lovely voice. Gillian's voice conveys such a sorrowful tune to that song; it's so emotional everytime I play it at a girl's night out in the car.

That was the only piece of news on Gillian's attending of the ceremony; this awards ceremony wasn't an extremely one, so the HK media didn't even report on it. They only reported on Hito and the Eastern Awards. I suppose the awards ceremonies in Beijing aren't that recognized?

I still like Lifesaver more than Hover Bird; I think Gillian would sing Lifesaver in a gentler voice since it's a sad song if she sang it solo while she sang Hover Bird with a tiny bit of more force since it's more of an encouraging and lesson teaching song. I wonder where they'll release Hover Bird onto? Twins have expressed that they're only going to release one re-singing song on their next mandarin album, which will be One Time Not Twice, and Hover Bird is a re-singing of Lifesaver; perhaps they'll put Hover Bird onto the second version of their mandarin album? It's funny how Hover Bird got all popular in Beijing while other places have barely heard of this song.

i hate the fact that it takes vibratos for the audiences to recognize the singer as talented. everyone has their own style, and vibrato does not necessarily have to be included. sometimes vibratos get on my nerves. lol. a little vibrato, like joey's are okay. but sometimes people go overboard.

i've never exactly interpreted gillian's weakspot to be high notes, but rather strong notes. i guess with a stronger voice she can successfully voice out the notes correctly and professionally.

I also like Lifesaver more than Hover Bird. I wish Gillian can perform "Lifesaver" live in HK for us. If Gillian could already sing Hover Bird so well, I have no doubt Lifesaver will be even a more spectacular live performance because Gillian's voice is stronger in Cantonese yet she doesn't lose the sorrowful and sweet touch to it, and also expresses much more emotions in Cantonese, a language she's way more confident in and knows the mean behind the words.

This short version of "Hover Bird" really helps to show how high Gillian performed live in certain peaks of the song and sang the ending chorus just as strong and beautiful as recorded in studio.

Yeah, I do agree that sometimes singers do go overboard with the vibratos especially *ahem* Korean artists. Seems like every last word of the verse is dragged out and completed in vibrato, which at times bothers me because I only wish to hear the vibrato at the climax of the song and ending, which requires the most strength and emotions. If the vibratos are already included in the beginning, seems like there is no surprise all throughout the song.

I thought Gillian performed "Kite and Wind" decently during the Twins 2006 Concert but there were quite a few flaws mentioned way earlier on this thread.

Well, hopefully, Gillian isn't exhausted from all of the losing weight demands, martial arts practice, attending functions, and preparing for Twins' upcoming albums.

I used to hate the Semir Advertisements because I thought Gillian looked extremely weird in them but now, I'm actually enjoying them and wish that Gillian would dress like that more often. I don't know why people think Sa is the tomboyish one (even Mani has stated that) when isn't it Gillian who dresses similarly to Edison with the baggy clothes, cargo/khaki pants, and really nice sneakers without all of the cute/feminine accessories or dresses like Sa? Anyways...just sharing some photos all us have seen but worth re-posting.

Gillian really needs to wear clothes that show her pretty figure; they make her look extra sexy and trendy. Oh yeah, the hair too.

I'm looking forward to her singing more solo songs in cantonese as well; I'm sure she'll do way better than her mandarin performances. With the mandarin performances already being so nice, imagine how her cantonese solo performances will be! Lifesaver seems to be a song made for Gillian; she portrayed it so well. The grasp on the pronounciations will definitely be better in cantonese than mandarin for her as well since she knows the language thoroughly.

It's an EEG Budweiser Concert since almost the whole EEG are the spokespeople for Budweiser; they left out Boy'Z and Isabella with the reason that they aren't old enough. Isn't Steven old enough though? He's 21, so he's considered an adult in HK. I guess they left him out since Dennis isn't old enough, and he's part of Boy'Z. What can we say? From Steven's situation, it is less likely than less likely that he'll be able to take part in any major EEG events without his partners.

The concert will feature ten EEG stars, which are Joey, Gillian, Charlene, Yumiko, Deep, Kenny, Mandy, Don, Vincy, and Peter. I personally think that Peter is just there because he's an actual soccer player and doubt that he'll be doing much singing if any at the concert. Vincy will probably appear a lot since she's the new artiste that they're promoting. Joey, Twins, and Kenny will definitely appear a lot as well, probably less for the others. Is there any hope at all that Kenny and Gillian will perform their duet? Most likely not since this is an EEG thing, and we all know who has a major say in it. But I guess there is slight hope based on the little optimistic quote of how anything can happen, but all it takes is EEG to make a person pessimistic.

Hopefully, Gillian's health won't break down on her. It was already a lot of work load without the weight losing issue, but with it makes it a lot worse.


Again, it's the stereotypical opinions of people. Since Charlene is taller, more talkative and more outgoing, she usually plays the male part when it is needed to portray a 'couple' on-screen for Twins while Gillian remains as the female role; thus, she is 'more feminine' than Charlene because she is more preserved and more petite, and of course, Gillian has more of an elegance with her beauty, which also portrays more femininity to many people. With Gillian and Charlene, I think Gillian's the one who has the more carefree wardrobe, and she's the one who always tries out the new styles and such while Charlene is the one who has the little neat and cute wardrobe.

Thanks for the photos! I definitely agree that hair comes into factor of general appearance. Gillian has lost her curls now, at least from the photos taken at the Beijing Airport, she has lost her curls with wavy hair remaining. I hope she doesn't curl it again. Gillian actually had a bad experience at the airport before going to the awards ceremony; they didn't have a car ready for her, and then the guide took her to all the wrong places, so she ended up walking around the airport for 20 minutes straight. Imagine how tired Gillian would've already been before she took the idle walk around the airport; hope she has a better experience next time.

yea i guess you're right about the korean vibratos. lol. it happens so often that it made the whole song seem like it was sang in vibratos.

well i guess i shouldn't have used "notes" to define what i mean. i guess using strong "voice" would be a better choice of words. cause sometimes gillain's voice can be too soft, causing her to sound weak and fragile. that's just my thought though.

I wonder how Steven currently feels; after being in the ET industry for quite some time now too, his hopes and initial dreams of entertaining have sort of failed. Steven originally entered the ET industry because of music, his agency should continue to support him in that area before elsewhere. I enjoy Steven's comedic touch to the films he has participated in (Steven just has that natural comedic talent without desperately trying too hard) but what is up with that whole ordeal of adding another Boy'z member? Isn't the regrouped two already depressing enough, must they add another third wheel? Anyways, I feel sorry for Steven. Boy'z with two members have gone nowhere, an additional member will only make the burden heavier to carry and if the new members become younger, wouldn't that make Steven a bit uncomfortable? Soon, Steven would have to leave Boy'z too due to his maturing age; whether he leaves for better as a solo artist or not, only Mani can decide that.

Kenny and Gillian probably have no hope of performing live together until Twins officially split but since Gillian already confirmed it for fans that the split won't happen, I'm uncertain where things will fall now. Oddly, seems like Twins' and Mani's answers to this "split" has been the opposite of their actions. Gillian is completely pulled out of films this year and Sa has been missing live performances. There should be no reason as to why Gillian has decreased in films when Gillian currently is in high demand and Sa's schedule hasn't been that occupied to skip a few singing functions. I just hate the fact that Twins are pressured to say "No" to the split then afterwards have to admit to it if not enough fans are supporting them. EEG is threatening Twins fans way too much with the same tactic and it does become a bit irritating.

Yeah, I guess because Gillian is labelled as the prettier Twin, she automatically becomes the more feminine one and also her mysterious quiet personality. But I was just observing from the regular wardrobe both Twins personally prefer to wear outside of work or at least how they present themselves at functions that don't require much of a yin and yang balance thing between Twins. Gillian's voice is very delicate, if not used towards the correct genre or notes, it could likely break easily. And plus Gillian hasn't learned how to fully control her vocals yet either. She just needs more practice and more exploration in terms of range. After understanding her strengths and weaknesses regarding the range of the notes, her voice will eventually become stronger.

Steven seems to be an optimistic person; on the site where he leaves messages, he often leaves messages that contain links to sites that he wants his fans to go look at. The sites all have great quotes and lessons on them about life and such; he asks for messages for the thoughts of it made by the fans after looking at the site to be left back for him to read so he can have an idea of the responses. He left one link that contained a really cute flash presentation, but unfortunately I didn't quite understand the lesson it taught. I guess I don't have much wisdom since the flash was supposed to teach a lesson about wisdom. When the news about the adding a member to Boy'Z came out, Steven also went up to leave a message of telling his fans not to feel sad because he'll still try his best to bring out the best in Boy'Z regardless of how many members there are.

Adding another member to Boy'Z was just pointless; it's not like they did much with Steven and Dennis anyways. The name Boy'Z isn't all that great either; what happens when Steven and his partners starting aging? Are they still gonna be called Boy'Z by the time they're 30+? When Mani announced about the additional member, I just went blank. It's like why don't they just make Dennis and William go together as a brand new group and free Steven from the burden that he has to endure because he's still part of Boy'Z? I just hope Steven can still get some decent exposure from participating films because his singing career is definitely stalled and on hold at the moment; we don't even know if it has a chance of picking up again.

I could see why Mani and Twins all deny the splitting of Twins off even if there is a big possibility that they will disband. Rarely do any groups tell the media/fans until the day of splitting comes upon them, like with Cookies and Boy'Z. We wouldn't expect Gillian or Charlene to suddenly express, "Yes, we will be splitting.", when they are asked about splitting, like how Gillian is asked that question every time she appears alone to sing. That'd be so astounding. Well, I don't think they would even say it; whenever something happens or changes with EEG artistes, Mani is the first person to step out and say it, sometimes even before artistes themselves even know about it. You're right about how there should be no reason for Gillian to miss out on films and Charlene to miss out on singing performances; that's mainly why we're making guesses about the disbanding from these events. But we still have those people over at CCT claiming that Charlene was filming for Rob-B-Hood while Gillian went to Beijing to perform when in the news/photo section, we can clearly see that the last filming of Rob-B-Hood took place on the 25th during the day and the Beijing awards ceremony was held on the 26th at night. Any big conflict with Charlene getting there?

I haven't heard Vincy sing either; I've heard people say that she has a pretty nice voice. She won out of the EEG singing contest, and the media says she could be the next Joey Yung; no offense to EEG, but their singing contests sometimes aren't quite that promising. Look, Janice has participated in the EEG singing contest before, but she didn't get any recognition at all. I wonder if EEG senses any loss right now, seeing how well Janice is doing? It's a surprise that Vincy came out all of the sudden; I remember EEG expressing that they'll be promoting Gladys Fung this year, and Gladys is just in Rob-B-Hood so far. Vincy seems to be racing way ahead of Gladys, even though she came out later. I don't think either of Vincy or Gladys are that great in terms of looks, but I think I would prefer Vincy since Gladys gives me an 80% resemblance with Isabella when I look at her. Vincy gives me more of an individual feeling; I should get around to listening to her sing sometime. Perhaps at the Budweiser Concert, if a recording is made for it. Oh, I do hope that the concert will be recorded!

Gillian actually got sick on Tuesday because of the workload, so she had to take a day off. I think this is mini journal that Gillian wrote for Oriental Daily News describing the past week for her. It seems like the best day for her during this week was the day in Beijing. Gillian's so hardworking; she seemed to feel so bad that she had to take the day off on Tuesday, and she resumed her work the same night right after she felt better with her health! What more can you expect from her?

Even though I had to wake up early to put on make-up and set my hair to attend the press conference of 'Double Sub-God Thieves', I was still very happy because this film is a grand production. I also haven't worked with my partner, Charlene Choi, in a film for a long time. After attending the press conference, we had to rush to the dancing studio to practice our dancing for the new songs in our new mandarin album. It was a very tiring day; I was overwhelmed with fatigue when I got home, but I managed to keep my eyes open to take a bath before crawling into bed to sleep.

Today, after going to the press conference of 'MOOV.now.com.hk', I had to go to the recording studio to narrate for the commercial. The doctor expressed that I'm coming up with a cold and told me to rest more. After eating a few huge, bitter capsules, I immediately went to bed. I fell asleep fast; in my memory, I had some sweet dreams.

Tuesday: Won the Battle Against Illness!
I felt a headache when getting up that morning; I thought it was the effect of the medicine from last night, so I sat in my bed for a moment. Afterwards, I still felt ill and the headache was coming back, so in the end I lay back in my bed and phoned my assistant and manager to ask for a day off. My mood was very bad that day; I only hoped to get well soon. After a day of sweating, I finally won the battle against my illness! I was back to working state at night, perhaps it's because I had enough resting time.

Wednesday: Alone to Beijing
This morning, I had to fly over to Beijing to attend 'Zhong Ge Bang Awards Ceremony'. Because Charlene had to film for a movie, I was on my own for this trip. I sang 'Hover Bird' solo; before performing, I felt quite nervous and continuously practiced the song and trying to memorize the lyrics backstage. The performance went well. Afterwards, I went back to the hotel and ate supper with my assistant and hairstylist. We ordered a whole meal; it was very tasty. Today was a very happy and practical day for me.

Thursday: Eating Chicken in Taiwan
Today, I had to wake up very early to fly back to HK. I then met up with Charlene at the airport, and we fly to Taiwan together to promote our mandarin album and to film our MVs. We even snuck out to the markets during the night to buy fried chicken to eat, and we also bought a big sack of fruits back to the hotel. I was originally planning to eat some fruits while watching a movie, but I ended up falling asleep right after I took a shower.

Hm, if EEG keeps going at their rate, booting off artists that should be promoted and heavily promoting those they favor, I don't think EEG will last in the market that long. Instead of Boy'z members especially Steven being concern about when EEG is going to kick him out, they should begin searching for other music labels or acting agencies that will accept their work when EEG breaks. Hm, when does Nic's contract end? I forgot. Seems like once their contracts are close to being fulfilled, EEG artists scram for better business elsewhere too so perhaps Nic might follow Eason and exit out of EEG once his contract has been completed.

The lies are all for economic purposes. Twins are about to release the two most important albums of their career, fans can't be bickering amongst each other on who will be the ultimate survivor once the split happens; Twins need their fans to be most united at this moment to support their albums and then, once EEG is finished sugar-coding the split, it happens. But oh well, fans should be content with Twins' last two albums right? Even if Sa was filming for a film, her scenes shouldn't be that much since she's a guest star?

Haha. Janice surely kicked their arrogant booties with her success now. EEG is trying to build up new artists but the problem is: if the old EEG artists like Yumiko, Isabella, Twins, Boy'z etc. are still struggling with their careers, I don't think it's such a bright idea to be promoting newcomers just yet. Even if Vincy was a wonderful singer like Joey, it still doesn't save EEG from that horrible label as the "talentless" company that began the slump of the HK media. Unless, EEG begins throwing off those who lack potential and talent (the majority lol) off the boat, then perhaps the boat may not sink but if the boat already has a hole and EEG keeps adding people onboard without removing some, their whole empire will soon sink. To others, that's great news! But for those artists who are bound to EEG, that's depressing.

Seriously, if EEG has already convinced individuals to sign contracts with them, mind as well put them to the test and promote them to see if they'll make it in the market; don't pick and choose like that: the Gladys VS Vincy situation like what EEG has done so in the past with several of their female artists that have disappeared and now, reappearing.

Yeah, Edison and Gillian knew each other way before either of them entered the ET industry. I believe they met through a cousin/relative of some sort. But Edison has always expressed that he admires Gillian and thinks that she was pretty and cute. Edison is such a huge flirt. He tends to joke around with every female he encounters. I don't know if he was serious or not about asking Gillian out but I think he did mention that the relationship didn't head towards that way back then because both were still quite young and also due to long distance. But later on when Edison happened to choose the same record label as Gillian, I think that was when the real relationship began.

As for Gillian's assistant covering her with a blanket while exiting Edison's house? Um, I think that was more of a tabloid but I do remember reading pieces of news regarding that issue. I think both denied it. Gillian doesn't seem like those untraditional type and Edison seems to respect Gillian a lot too so he probably wouldn't allow his rumors to damage her clean image.

Hm, EG? Honestly, Gillian shared the most chemistry with Edison out of all her co-stars. Whenever Edison enters the same room or environment, Gillian seems to become more nervous than usual and gosh, Edison just acts so dumb, it's so obvious he likes her. To think of it now, the song "Blue Skies" could have been dedicated to Gillian and perhaps not Bobo? Because everything Edison mentions in that song seems to describe all of the events that happened between them. I'll post up my analysis of that song later.

Edison is an honest person or at least then. When he's mad, he shows it like the award ceremony. When he's jealous, heck yeah, he expresses it like the incident with Shawn. When he likes someone, he definitely doesn't try to hide it at all. Edison doesn't hold any feelings back towards Gillian, they were present the whole entire time but to save Gillian's career which just began, their relationship was underground. I would say Bobo is one of Edison's good friends so whenever problems between Edison and Gillian emerged, Bobo was there for Edison and that was where the EB rumors rooted from to form a juicy triangle but none really existed, it was just EG all along. Just judging from the past chemistry EG shared, even a child can easily pick up that they do dearly like each other but at the moment, their careers are much more important. It's funny. Ever since the so called break up between Edison and Gillian (the Shawn incident) both have not been dating, only dumb rumors that have helped promoted others like Alex and Stephy. If you were to compare that with EB, Bobo now has an official boyfriend but it's odd that Edison isn't at all bothered but whenever fake rumors about Gillian surfaces, his happy mood automatically flares and he uses the excuse of "Not my business" like any other person/star who is hurt would state just to end the interview there. If those rumors didn't bother him, then just be a decent man and congratulate consistently without losing your temper. Anyways, that's just my analysis thus so far.

Actually, I read a news article that Edison responded to this rumor through his spokesperson stating, they both grew up overseas and are good friends, but not dating. He feels wonderful that Maggie is dating.

But I also read this other article and whoa, the reporters blew the rumors to the maximum which contradicted what Edison stated. Personally, I think this whole Edison and Maggie ordeal is just another promotion for Maggie's "Mission Impossible 3" movie that will be released soon worldwide so she needs a foundation in HK. It's funny how this same article described Maggie as keeping this little relationship on a down low but yet it was her that "oopss accidently" blurted it out that she was dating a well-known guy. Hm, not very convincing eh?

Anyways, I don't know the truth. I wish I can phone Edison and ask him too for Gillian. But even if they're dating, doesn't mean they're getting married? Maggie is known for switching boyfriends even quicker than changing seasons so I wouldn't be surprised if this *ahem* secret relationship didn't last. Then Edison is single again but then, he wouldn't qualify for Gillian anymore.

William has been part of EEG for a long time; he's the same William who appeared in Twins' MVs: Friend's Love, Lady In Perplexed World, and Golden Dream House. I don't think that he nor Dennis will contribute much to Boy'Z either. Even Mani has never mentioned that William sings well, her reasons for putting William into Boy'Z was he's a good dancer. I even wonder if EEG really is going to invest into Boy'Z, or are they just regrouping and adding members to make it look like they're doing something with Boy'Z? It sure doesn't look like they have any major projects coming up. Where's that album that Steven and Dennis made when they went to Japan? I doubt that album exists, probably only that one song that they sang together is new, 'Miss Bowing Gold'?; it would be so weird if that album did exist because obviously William wouldn't have been part of it, but I still stick with the thought that the album doesn't exist.

I think the only wise thing that EEG did was signing such long contracts with their artistes like Joey, Nicholas, and Twins. These are their money-making artistes, and obviously they would be able to sign another company if they wanted to because they can make money from all the support of fans that they have. These four could definitely live without EEG, but I think Charlene would be less likely to leave since her dad is part of EEG. Joey seems quite faithful to EEG as well. I think out of the four, Nic and Gillian are the ones who have reasons to want to leave and may even do better without EEG. Gillian, we all can figure why she should leave. I think she'd be better off somewhere like Gold Label, at least Gold Label's a place that has sympathy and consideration for their artistes; it's also the major competitor towards EEG.

Yeah, EEG can't afford to have all the breakdowns of fans from the things about disbanding, so Twins/Mani can say nothing but words of denial. Twins still have to pull in some major incomes with their two upcoming albums. It's almost everything is; we get rumours, denials, then when we actually start believing that it won't happen, it'll come again, and finally it happens.

Janice totally showed them what she had; so if they gave this champion of their singing contest to someone else, where is this person now? We see the 'loser' of their contest, Janice, being so successful, so I'm guessing that their champion should be much better? But this person's nowhere insight. EEG has a lot of money to invest, but they don't quite have nice strategies. I think more or less, they just want to prove that they can make whoever they want popular or hold a place in the ET industry if they want, but it doesn't work that way. The example you raised about the boat is very correct; this boat is in for some sinking if EEG doesn't smarten up soon. EEG better pray that when the load of the boat gets lighter that it isn't because their more talented and money-making artistes are finding a better place go to.

EEG has a long way to go before it scrapes off the talentless label; even Joey can't save them from that, and neither could Nic. Perhaps Gillian could help with it when she's given the opportunity to practice new genres of songs, then Charlene could help with it when she gains more recognition with her films, and then maybe Vincy could bring some help since many agree that her singing is decent. But even if the above does happen, EEG still has stop basing their plans on favoritism. They should let Steven free from his burden of the two members in Boy'Z, and at least let him break a path out in films if not singing as well. Yumiko and Isabella should also leave singing aside more and focus on acting; well, at least that can apply for Isabella because her acting's pretty good, but I don't know what they can do about Yumiko. Seems kinda cruel to dock her off the boat, but then what else can she do? Don and Mandy could probably last a bit longer by sticking together, so they're okay for now. A lot of their artistes like Celine Wong (Koey Wong), Maggie Lau from 3T, and others have already left EEG because all they've done is wait, but EEG never lets them give a shot at coming out and performing. Seriously, using Celine as an example, what else has she completed during her time with EEG other than star in a few MVs here and there? EEG has got to wise up on their pick and chose thing; like you said, a lot of the artistes that they gave up on a few years ago are slowly coming back to possibly bite EEG back in the derriere.

Wow, that's pretty neat of how Gillian and Edison knew each other from all the way back before they entered the ET industry. Edison is an alright guy; he really is, but I guess he's just really blunt with how he feels and such that he acts on impulse a lot of times, like the beating on the streets. He's also a pretty flirty guy; that's for sure, but it's really nice that he knows how to respect Gillian, actually it seems like a lot of Gillian's male co-stars/friends really respect her. Edison has said that if he had to chose among Twins as a companion for everyday life, he would chose Gillian, but he said that he'd chose Charlene as a working partner. Honestly, isn't Edison the only co-star that Gillian seemed to share chemistry with? Well, one reason is that she didn't have many romance storylines in her early films, and another could be that she and Edison have a good relationship. Even if it wasn't a romantic one, it would've been a really great friendship. EG seem to be very distant from one another nowadays. I would say that, for now, it would be nice if EG could reunite on-screen together in a film that featured on them only, but I don't think I would really hope for EG to be a real-life couple. Edison is very sweet and loving towards Gillian, but his moody actions just causes troubles sometimes. I suppose that Gillian wouldn't feel secure enough with his flirty habits. Perhaps what EG had could just be like fireworks; very abrupt, exciting, and beautiful, yet it can never be everlasting.

Sadly to say, I don't think Gillian will get more promotions if Twins split, likely even less than what it is right now. I do wish that Gillian will get a different manager if that does happen. Also if she does well in Flying Fox of Snowy Mountain, she'll gain more fans in mainland. I really hoping that she will get more movies offer soon, well more like really hope that EEG does not reject any good offer to her.

From memory, I don't think Twins have ever performed 'Hover Bird' together; 'Hover Bird' had only been sung twice live, and they were both by Gillian only. Gillian's first performance of 'Hover Bird' hasn't ever been shared, so I don't think there's a recording of it. I have the clip of Kenny & Steven and Twins performing 'Thousand Gold' together, but it's only a DV version recorded by a fan, so it's a bit unclear at times. I'll post it up when it's uploaded.

Actually, Twins did perform Hover Bird together once in China and they forgot the words. They sang it once and forgot the words, then requested to sing it again but they still got the lyrics wrong. They apologised to the fans and said they were very busy and didn't have enough time to memorise the lyrics properly.
Maybe I can find the clip for you guys....
