Wow, this thread has indeed been active in the past few days.
Just to let some of you know, I'm a big Gillian fan but I don't really post much at AF so you guys probably haven't seen me around. I was just reading Little_Purple_Bell and kawaiilala's lONG essays about Gillian and there is no other way I can agree with you two.
It does irritate me that when people use the excuse that Gillian is the "prettier" one therefore she has a larger fanbase or even has any fans. I really don't agree. I began to like Gillian when I bought a copy of "Touch of Love" (pirated version but I wasn't a big fan then so that's excusable lol) and I listened to the solo. To be honest, hardly any songs appealed to me other than "My Mother & Father". I listened to the whole album but still found my way back to that song. I honestly only liked Twins a tiny bit and hardly knew who was whom back then. At first I thought it was Charlene because I couldn't read the chinese characters. I didn't think Gillian was gorgeous like I do now; I honestly thought she was the more boy-ish and loud one versus Charlene whom I thought was the sassy and girly one. ThenI found my way to the Monkey King and I didn't like Twins at all esp Charlene cause I thought she was annoying and didn't know why she was the one to portray that character when I thought "Zi Wei" was much more prettier and cuter.
I've always liked Gillian's voice much more cause I liked how sincere and beautiful it sounds and how fun and happy it is in fast songs. At first I thought her "voice" was odd but that was when I thought her voice was Charlene's voice.
I LOVE Charlene now after becoming a 100% Twins fan but I won't deny that I favour Gillian over Charlene anyday. In my opnion both GC has their own different charms and beauty. I just like Gillian's charm & beauty more.

About the Sa fan, well all of us here at this thread witnessed how immature some Sa fans can be so I guess we will never understand their logic.
I believe Gillian did want to perform something similar to Sa's sad story since she's excellent at tears and she's been asking EEG and directors for a sorrowful romantic role ever since she succeeded in BOK. But oh well, I admire Gillian's pace during the concert because she had to jump back and forth with awesome martial arts AND sing. The most amazing part was: even with all of that running around, you would think that she was breathless and would not sing as well but gosh, she did a fantastically stunning job at that Joey song. But it would had been better if Kenny sort of dressed up too like a Ninja and cool Gillian had to protect him from assassins.
Then Kenny (like what he did earlier when he mistakened a fan's pen as a knife and immediately moved towards Gillian to defend her) blocks the flying dagger/sword for Gillian and he dies in her arms creating such a sad sonata for the audience to enjoy. Kenny stained with blood confesses his love and passion for her, Gillian cries convincingly and clings onto him tightly, while the pitch dark background sprinkles with stars of hope as both KG sing their lovely duet together for the final time under the bright moon. Haha! 
A story of my own. That would had been great to watch and look forward to in the DVD but GR! I guess I'll just save my tears for Gillian when I watch Gillian's romantic sad character in the film she requested.
Gillian is probably just fed up with all of this bias treatment and knows that the days of Twins is slowly decreasing day by day since she's in the actual situation so she is aware and has begun thinking about herself for the very first time. She possibly realized that the only reason why EEG even promotes or allows her to participate in various activities, functions, and projects is because she is part of Twins so in order for Sa to continue being popular Twins must remain together. Once Twins split, EEG could choose to not promote her since she's no longer related to Sa's image. Both Twins do depend on each other. Gillian is depending on Sa for promotions from EEG while Sa is depending on Gillian for fans and publicity. So being Twins is the best choice for both because if they were to split, Sa may never gain the fanbase/popularity she needs to survive in the ET industry and as for Gillian, she may have the stable fanbase but because EEG won't promote her, she'll also gradually fade. And some fans may choose to argue that Sa has enough charm to last in the ET circle and with the promotions of EEG, she'll do just fine but one thing they're forgetting is: EEG has always been promoting Sa all along yet her popularity doesn't even match up to Gillian, someone EEG never really considered investing in. So whether Sa was to receive more promotions or not in the future, it would most likely not go anywhere because if so then Sa would had been more popular than Gillian a long time ago. Sa has worked with many stars Gillian has never worked with yet Gillian is still more well known. EEG would had never kept Gillian if Twins weren't this successful and influential in the HK market.
Ah- I do pray that if EEG purposely gives the dumb songs to Gillian and the interesting ones to Sa, the audience would hear differently; there is a God. Tastes in music vary from person to person so let's hope that EEG doesn't plan on kicking the trash to Gillian because that would stink. I mean, Gillian is already held back in films this year...so far no interesting roles have been accepted by EEG for Gillian and singing wise, we would have to wait for the solo songs to determine that.
Wow, so you're a relatively new Twins/Gillian fan well not new new but newer than me! I love that solo song of Gillian's. I think that Gillian's voice is unique. Frankly, Sa's voice is similar to Miriam's, Sammi's, Emme's, Hocc's etc. because they all possess that sort of low strong tone. It's not high like Kelly, Joey, or the mandarin singers. Personally, Gillian's voice is none of the above. It's sweet yet sorrowful, gentle yet strong, and simple yet passionate. Gillian does have a huge amount of talent/potential but she's just learning how to exploit them at the moment. At first, I didn't quite like Gillian due to boyfriend rumors. At that time, I really liked Edison so I kept wondering who Gillian Chung was since her name was constantly associated with Edison's. My dad rented the Monkey King II so I thought ok, I like Dicky, Nic is in it too along with Jimmy so figure I'll just watch a few episodes and fast foward all the nonsense stuff but when I saw Gillian who first appeared, I was like wow, she's sooo cute sweeping or guarding the entrance of Heaven if I'm not mistakened (? I don't quite remember the details). I didn't even know who she was until my friend pointed it out that the cute girl I was cheering for in MK for Jimmy was Gillian Chung. I was quite surprised but didn't care because I was already converted. I really did not like Sa and that was my very first impression without any knowledge of who she was. I thought she was trying too hard to be cute, the serial claimed her to be the prettiest goddess in Heaven when I thought what?...she's obviously not, and don't know, but I just didn't like Sa period. Then I researched and found out that Gillian and Sa were a duo named Twins, the rumors were false, and later that Gillian was being treated badly by Mani and EEG staff so I began my journey in supporting Gillian since then. Twins' music is decent and eventually, Sa became ok with me.

I think Gillian's meant to be long-lasting in the the whole game. If not, then how could a person still be around when she was practically invisible for the early years? You're right; Charlene had so many chances to work with good directors/scripts/co-stars, yet Gillian manages to hang on and pull through all the hard times. You know..... I don't really believe that thing of how they say Charlene's a promise to the box office because Charlene's movies always have a good cast/script; therefore, people aren't necessarily going in the theatre for her.
I hope you're right about the Valentine's Day thing. Maybe KG could attend a function together! Just the two of them by the way....
It was kinda funny this one time when Gillian appeared at a function with Kenny and Isabella because Gillian was actually standing in the middle of the two of them, and Isabella usually just has to stand by Kenny. Gillian is a lovely person.... which gives us even more of the reasons to love her even more!!! Gillian's so versatile in acting! We can see that because anything outside of EEG power, Gillian shines right on. We haven't seen Charlene being nominated for Best Actress yet, have we? Renee Liu (Winner of Best Actress, whom Gillian lost to) has expressed that being nominated for Gam Zhi Ging Awards is actually better than the Golden Horse because Gam Zhi Ging does more focus on how the actor/actress performed and how the script was while Golden Horse is often influenced by business and country matters, which of course, affects the results.
I love your plot! If only EEG had the brains to think that way........ Kenny is so sweet towards Gillian; he said that he was afraid of being embarassed towards Gillian because of his mistake of a pen for a knife back then! So cute! There are some Charlene fans/Anti-Gillian Fans out there who ALWAYS, and I mean ALWAYS, claim that her voice never goes into the microphone. What's that supposed to mean?
A microphone's job is to enhance the volume of a person's voice. If what they're expressing means that Gillian's voice isn't loud enough for them, then it either means that the microphone has a problem, or they're simply trying pick bones out of an egg, or they never realize that Gillian's being so considerate of THEIR IDOL that she chooses to restrain her own voice to let Charlene be considered loud. Oh yes, they also express that Charlene's voice is so loud and goes into the microphone.

Yeah, pretty much started being a hardcore Gillian fan after the 2004 Concert. I didn't quite find Charlene attracting in movies either. Way before I even knew the name of Gillian Chung, I watched Funeral March. I like the plot, and that's all I can say about the movie. I had no hard impressions on the cast. Songs, to tell you the truth, the first song I really actually listened to that was Gillian-related was TLOL Themesong by Gillian and Kenny. I personally have a passion for duets, so I really liked it, and I went onto finding more Twins songs to listen to. I don't know why, but even though I heard Gillian's voice alone, I couldn't distinguish the two voices of Charlene and Gillian until the solos by each.
I think Gillian's voice is very unique, yet easily accepted by a listener. My dad said to me that Charlene's voice is actually pretty hard to listen for; at that time, I was like, "How hard is it? It's just she and Gillian in most of the songs. If I hear this voice is Gillian, the other has to be Charlene." My dad kinda rolled his eyes afterwards, haha. But I came to see what he meant when I listened to the audio files of the TwinsXAt17 concert. I could barely find Charlene's voice when the four of them sang together, yet I could hear Gillian's voice stick out. (I find another thing, if there's a person singing with her and Charlene, then Gillian allows herself to sing properly.) There's also this other song where EEG artists sing together; I can hear Gillian's voice in it, but this person from a forum claims that Charlene's in it too. If Charlene's in it, then I couldn't hear her. There are also times of where Twins sing songs of other people, and my dad would ask, "Is it Gillian?" and I would answer, "Gillian AND Ah Sa. You really can't hear Ah Sa's voice out, can you?"
I remember watching Monkey King too! I didn't care much about beauty of each Twin back then though. My cousin started watching it a bit after I did, and she's like, "Which one's which?" I said, "The older sister is Ah Sa." and she turned out to saying, "So the purple one, the prettier one's Gillian, right?" That's kinda when I came back to realizing that Gillian is really beautiful. I remember liking Zi Mei's storyline with LaJa (Jimmy) more than ZiLan's story with Monkey King because I thought it was pretty dumb of Monkey King being in love or wanting to marry ZiLan, etc. Isn't Monkey King supposed to be a monk there?!

Gillian's been down to 11%. I started voting when seeing that, but she's just at 13% now, with Janice - 27% and Fiona - 59%. Everyone else is at 0%. We gotta keep voting!

Whether or not Charlene wrote the song or if there's a Twins version, she still sang without Gillian. Not to mention that Charlene only wrote one of the TWO songs for A Chinese Tall Story, and she sang two songs with Nicholas; where does that come in then? I bet the Charlene fan wouldn't be saying that if Charlene's duets were the ones that are getting popular now. He/She is probably just jealous of Gillian's duet being more recognized and afraid that people are going to start giving credit to Gillian, instead of being blinded by the media of the false appearance of Charlene's popularity being higher than Gillian's.

Way before I even knew the name of Gillian Chung, I watched Funeral March. I like the plot, and that's all I can say about the movie. I had no hard impressions on the cast. Songs, to tell you the truth, the first song I really actually listened to that was Gillian-related was TLOL Themesong by Gillian and Kenny. I personally have a passion for duets, so I really liked it, and I went onto finding more Twins songs to listen to. I don't know why, but even though I heard Gillian's voice alone, I couldn't distinguish the two voices of Charlene and Gillian until the solos by each.
I think Gillian's voice is very unique, yet easily accepted by a listener. My dad said to me that Charlene's voice is actually pretty hard to listen for; at that time, I was like, "How hard is it? It's just she and Gillian in most of the songs. If I hear this voice is Gillian, the other has to be Charlene." My dad kinda rolled his eyes afterwards, haha. But I came to see what he meant when I listened to the audio files of the TwinsXAt17 concert. I could barely find Charlene's voice when the four of them sang together, yet I could hear Gillian's voice stick out. (I find another thing, if there's a person singing with her and Charlene, then Gillian allows herself to sing properly.) There's also this other song where EEG artists sing together; I can hear Gillian's voice in it, but this person from a forum claims that Charlene's in it too. If Charlene's in it, then I couldn't hear her. There are also times of where Twins sing songs of other people, and my dad would ask, "Is it Gillian?" and I would answer, "Gillian AND Ah Sa. You really can't hear Ah Sa's voice out, can you?"
I remember watching Monkey King too! I didn't care much about beauty of each Twin back then though. My cousin started watching it a bit after I did, and she's like, "Which one's which?" I said, "The older sister is Ah Sa." and she turned out to saying, "So the purple one, the prettier one's Gillian, right?" That's kinda when I came back to realizing that Gillian is really beautiful. I remember liking Zi Mei's storyline with LaJa (Jimmy) more than ZiLan's story with Monkey King because I thought it was pretty dumb of Monkey King being in love or wanting to marry ZiLan, etc. Isn't Monkey King supposed to be a monk there?!
Gillian's been down to 11%. I started voting when seeing that, but she's just at 13% now, with Janice - 27% and Fiona - 59%. Everyone else is at 0%. We gotta keep voting!

It was kinda funny this one time when Gillian appeared at a function with Kenny and Isabella because Gillian was actually standing in the middle of the two of them, and Isabella usually just has to stand by Kenny. Gillian is a lovely person.... which gives us even more of the reasons to love her even more!!! Gillian's so versatile in acting! We can see that because anything outside of EEG power, Gillian shines right on. We haven't seen Charlene being nominated for Best Actress yet, have we? Renee Liu (Winner of Best Actress, whom Gillian lost to) has expressed that being nominated for Gam Zhi Ging Awards is actually better than the Golden Horse because Gam Zhi Ging does more focus on how the actor/actress performed and how the script was while Golden Horse is often influenced by business and country matters, which of course, affects the results.
I love your plot! If only EEG had the brains to think that way........ Kenny is so sweet towards Gillian; he said that he was afraid of being embarassed towards Gillian because of his mistake of a pen for a knife back then! So cute! There are some Charlene fans/Anti-Gillian Fans out there who ALWAYS, and I mean ALWAYS, claim that her voice never goes into the microphone. What's that supposed to mean?
A microphone's job is to enhance the volume of a person's voice. If what they're expressing means that Gillian's voice isn't loud enough for them, then it either means that the microphone has a problem, or they're simply trying pick bones out of an egg, or they never realize that Gillian's being so considerate of THEIR IDOL that she chooses to restrain her own voice to let Charlene be considered loud. Oh yes, they also express that Charlene's voice is so loud and goes into the microphone. <--- Being loud doesn't account for it all. You can be as loud as you want, but what happens if she's out of tune or out of breath? Speaking of the concert, Charlene once again has the easy side of the table! Gillian had to run around, and fight with her martial arts and then sing! Charlene simply had to be walking around while singing! Gillian's performance was much more difficult and energy-consuming in my opinion! However, I have read comments at a general chinese forum where this person expressed that Gillian had lots of feelings while singing Joey's song, and she said that her friend who came with her said she sounded even better than Joey on that song! Twins are interdependent on each other, but it doesn't seem like the regular reasons why though. It seems pretty political-ish to me. You know, if EEG would put some sense into promoting Gillian more, her career would probably be up the roof by now! Being as dumb as EEG is, neither Twin will survive if they break up unless they change their ways. They can give the least bit of more promotion towards Gillian, a few more pushes and Gillian can stand strong in a place in the entertainment circle; of course, with Charlene, EEG probably wouldn't mind of throwing a few more bucks onto her to make all these fake appearances with her popularity, seeing what they've done for five whole years, even if it really doesn't go anywhere. I'm glad Gillian's thinking more about herself now! It's about time! I love her so much for being so caring, but I do hope that she'll start thinking about herself more. Gillian knows better than what we do, and she probably knows that Twins could very well be coming to an end, so she's gotta be planning ahead. If she starts showing her abilities now, then many people who are falsely influenced could change their minds about her, and EEG wouldn't have a good reason not to promote her.... or at least I hope so.

Hm, that is a good observation. Charlene is mainly promoted by her cast while Gillian isn't. Magazines/tabloids/people in general were claiming Sa's guaranteed success with her recent collaborations with big names like Andy Lau and Jackie Chan but I haven't seen her get nominated for those roles yet?? While Gillian who worked alongside with the so called not so famous actors like Daniel Wu did receive a nomination and Gam Zhi Ging Awards are more meaningful than Golden Horse because it's not popularity/sponsors oriented but rather on talents. So that was an extremely huge achievement for Gillian even as just a nominee.

I love how you described Isabella and her snobby attitude of how she just has to stand next to Kenny. Well, all I have to say to Isabella is: we all know which one Kenny is sincere with. Hopefully, during that Valentine's function, KG will both re-demonstrate the bed scene for us LIVE. 
Sa fans are just using the same old reasons from ages ago to offend against Gillian because Gillian only becomes better and better so there are no new ideas/irrational reasons to bring against her. I'm sorry but the volume issue was already clarified ancient years ago that Gillian was being courteous to Sa so she always performed softly and silently. Some fans just cannot accept the fact that another star like Gillian paved the way for their beloved star like Sa. At least some fans who attended the 2006 concert had good perceptions.
Hm, come to think of it again. You're right. On the surface it seems like Gillian needs Sa for promotions but if Gillian is super popular solo with her solo projects this year, there is NO reason as to why EEG wouldn't increase her promotions even if Twins were to split/without Sa. So hopefully, Gillian will charm Asia with her solo projects this year!! Sa actually needs both of Gillian's influence and EEG to promote her. I mean, Twins fans have to prefer one over the other somehow and if you were to make a poll, the majority of Twins fans lie heavily on Gillian's side. So if Twins were to split, I doubt Twins fans would continue supporting both because each fan would have to support the one they love most to make sure she gets the piece of cake. And since the majority of fans support Gillian anyways...don't know how Sa is going to stand without Gillian. As important as Sa is to EEG due her family ties or whatever, they can only promote her so much until they surrender so hm, I really don't know how everything is going to with Sa. BUT perhaps all of my assumptions and personal prediction may not be the case so there is a slight chance of everything just incase some Sa fan comes on this thread claiming that we're talking smack again. SO this is just my personal opinion. AH- if only EEG will promote Gillian more regardless that would be awesome!
Gillian's voice is unique. It may be soft and gentle but it doesn't conform easily either. I do hear Sa's voice but it always seems to restlessly try to overpower Gillian's in a loud projecting way but Gillian on the other doesn't need to work that hard, she just simply naturally sings and it comes out so beautifully aligned with Sa's. That's probably why I like Gillian's voice too because she is a singer therefore she just sings which comes out flexibly and beautifully while to me, Sa sounds too competitive like she wants the whole world to acknowledge that she can sing so it doesn't come out that great. And again, these are just my opinions it has nothing to do with Gillian!
In MK, Dicky the Monkey King was supposed to be a God who couldn't love but oh well, that serial was wacked anyways just like A Chinese Tall Story.

Gillian has changed and progressed a lot over the years but for the better. Yeah, there will always be haters no matter how perfect, how ideal, or how good someone may be but I guess we all just need to understand that people have different preferences BUT that still doesn't give anyone the right to bash Gillian though...there is a difference between bashing and nicely commenting on the dislikes of Gillian.
Gillian has a limitless beauty that basically adapts her to almost every good looking co-star she has worked with but have to say no one defeats the chemistry of EG!

Downloading shouldn't be an option but there are some people (I used to be one.) where money wasn't the issue but where to purchase it because I used to wait for ages for my parents to visit large cities like SF and L.A. to purchase my annual list of Chinese music so I totally know how that feels. Now that I'm much older, I can just order online. But we should all just show our true support by going against downloading unless they're like radio drama shows, rare MVs, award shows, LIVE performances..etc. because these things are rarely produced into purchasable DVDs.

And didn't Sa write the lyrics for the Cantonese version, not the Mandarin and the only one I've heard is the Mandarin version so I don't even know if Sa's Canto version was released or even exists finished product wise because I surely haven't heard unless someone wants to share/upload it here with us who haven't heard it yet. That's a good idea! 12:00am on Sat in HK is 4:00pm on Friday for me. I won't be home before 6pm on Friday, but I'll try and vote as much as possible before I head off! I mean, Twins fans have to prefer one over the other somehow and if you were to make a poll, the majority of Twins fans lie heavily on Gillian's side. So if Twins were to split, I doubt Twins fans would continue supporting both because each fan would have to support the one they love most to make sure she gets the piece of cake. I know. Isn't her nomination already saying a lot of her acting? The judges of Gam Zhi Ging Awards aren't pressured over any political or popularity aspects of the movies/casts, but they judge it merely on what they see of the performance. Though Gillian's never beside a big name such as Jackie Chan or Andy Lau, her talent still gets to show when facing fair judges.
That'd be really cool to have KG demonstrate the bed scene again live, but I don't mind what it is as long as they do something together! I simply don't admire the pairing of Kenny and Isabella; I really missed the pairing of KG since Kenny went solo, but the duet/MV relieved it.
I get this feeling that Charlene isn't as considerate towards Gillian as Gillian is towards Charlene. You're right; Gillian's willing to adjust and press her voice down so Charlene could take a lead in volume, yet Charlene always tries to force out her voice to its extreme when it makes it sound worse than it should be. (Once again: Being loud isn't everything to singing.
) It does seem like Charlene wants people to think she's the better singer because Charlene fans always claim so with those reasons that I stated earlier (voice won't go in the microphone, too quiet) which can all be pushed back with logical reasons. I agree on how Twins fans will eventually have to step onto a side more if Twins do split. Many will say that they'll support both, but in the long run and under some circumstances, they'll have to run the balance among the two girls. If it finally goes obvious towards EEG itself that Charlene isn't capable of giving back what they continuously invests in her, then unless EEG is hoping for the shutdown of their company, then they'll have to lower the importance of family ties. Let's just continue hoping for a Gillian breakthrough with Conscience Discovery, so that even if EEG does keep promoting Charlene, they can bring in the same kind.... or maybe even half of that promotion's even good for Gillian's popularity and fanbase at the moment.

Today I was browsing around a forum and two Charlene fans were complaining of how Gillian's on two magazine covers with Stephen Fung and on one alone. :lame: Then it was a relief when another person came in to say that it's quite reasonable because "49 Days" is coming out soon and those Charlene fans shouldn't forget that Charlene had been on covers alone or with Andy Lau during times of "All About Love" and "A Chinese Tall Story". They're simply just jealous because Charlene's chance to shine on her own with Nicholas flopped when they had like three duets together (Cantonese/Mandarin versions of Love and another song called Ching Sing - all from "A Chinese Tall Story") while Gillian's single duet with Kenny is getting fired up popular. Not to mention, Charlene's duets with Nicholas came out way before Gillian's duet with Kenny.

I so agree with you about Gillian being a very good and versatile actress!! She tries to improve herself and not afriad to accept different roles to expand her skills!! One thing I get really annoyed is when some fans stubbornly saying Charlene is always the better actress ( not saying she is or isn't

I was thinking "Well if Charlene is such a good actress, why even until now she isn't nominated for the a Best Female Actress award? Before, some Sa fans were whining about how Gillian was published in too many magazines with Daniel etc. and how unfair it was for Sa but when Sa was coupled with Andy&Nic for all of those photoshoots why didn't those Sa fans admit how unfair it was for Gillian?? They're always selfishly wanting more and more from Gillian claiming that everything is unfair and bias?? Uh, do they even know the meaning of those words to be using them so simply like that when their idol doesn't even fall in that catergory. OMG!!
You're actually the first person who noticed what I've noticed and have been listening to all along. Gillian's voice is towards the left and Sa's is towards the right. As for the main vocals, um personally...Twins do get a fair amount of versus but I judge from their most famous songs and if you ask anyone, Kite and Wind is definitely one of them and Gillian leads in that song meaning if you were to judge the song, even though both Twins had equal parts but Gillian sang the main parts while Sa was the sort of background supporting voice. I even read this one article that mentioned something about the success of this song under the lead of Gillian Chung. So I personally believe that Gillian has the main vocals based on Kite and Wind because this is the best slow song Twins have ever sung and a song that comes closest to being a true mature song versus all of their teeny bopper songs.Starlight Amusement Park was all geared towards Sa though so no comment on that.
Hm, I don't know exactly how to define main vocals either because I guess there aren't a lot of Twins songs that distinctly lets one lead the other. Even though Sa usually sings the first verse but that doesn't make her the main vocalist...um, I guess there is no one main vocalist then. Perhaps Little_Purple_Bell can clarify that?

I guess a lot of people are tuning in on KG's duet is also because of their radio relationship. How cute is that! Was the show with Liza Wang, "The Unforgettable"? If it was, then what episode was it? Because I haven't had the chance to see this! Charlene fans are so..... uh.... dunno how to describe. The main reason that they use to defend Charlene as the better singer of Twins is because she apparently sings louder. Man.... so if Charlene shouts in the microphone when she's supposedly singing, that makes her better?
' Yeah, parents are pretty stubborn on who they think is good at singing since they've been around to hear the actual classics, so we can take our parents' words for it. The person with the main vocals just means that most songs of the band are based on that person's voice, and that he/she is the one who provides the base of the song. Each band always has one or two people who provide the main vocals while the others are more on the supporting side. For example, in Grasshopper, Choi Yat Kit provides the mains vocals while the other two do more of a supporting job. In the old Boy'Z, the main vocals vary depending on whether they're singing fast or slow songs. If the song's slow, the main vocals are from Kenny while the main vocals are from Steven with fast songs, but Kenny was more of the main vocals in general. In Cookies, I usually hear Kary's voice there as the base, and bits of Theresa's voice blended in while Stephy and Miki are supporting. Once in a while, Stephy leads her groupmates while Miki's just in the background at most times. In Twins' case, they're more on the equal side, but if you listen closely and especially at the earlier songs back then, fast or slow songs, you'd hear that when Twins sing together, Gillian's voice usually has the upperhand when compared to Charlene's. Charlene's voice more or less gets drowned into Gillian's voice on CD because she doesn't have the chance to yell her voice out since the music producers wouldn't allow it anyways.

yeah, I saw those posts too, and I was like what's the problem with being on some magazine covers to promote the movie, as it's coming out soon and considering they haven't had any promotions events so far...they have to rely on those to attract more people to watch it. And beside, Charlene was also on just as many magazines when her movies were out, if not more...(
so I don't see the fuss Charlene fans are making)and during that time Gillian had like absolutely nothing to do...none movies or recording of CD, just some functions and stuffs. She didn't appear on any magazine covers for weeks. However that's not the case for Charlene, as she is currently busy filming the movie with Louis and Jacky, so she probably doesn't even have time to take any photoshoots for magazines, even if they asked her to.

During this time, the only time Gillian made the magazine cover was either with Charlene or it was the front cover of a gossip magazines due to rumours. Even Yes! identified that! Gillian seemed to have disappeared or something during times of All About Love and A Chiense Tall Story, but at least Charlene gets some exposure still when a movie of Gillian's is coming out. Reporters are still going on and on about Charlene's rumour with Ronald Cheng for heaven's sake! My mom was watching "The Scoop" on TV and she was like telling me, "I feel so sorry for Gillian. Reporters just keep asking about Ah Sa and Ronald Cheng; they don't even ask Gillian one question!" It's so true though. Gillian doesn't add useless comments to Ah Sa's rumours, but when reporters start asking about Gillian with Alex Fong, Ah Sa always has to give her own opinion or tell Gillian's side of the story when the media was asking for GILLIAN'S response towards HER rumours as if Ah Sa just really wanted or had to speak at that time.
Some of the Charlene fans just make too big of a fuss over things that aren't even out of reason. What's wrong with more promotion of Gillian? She highly deserves it, and the promotion that she's finally starting to get now is already five years late. What more do they expect? Gillian has already done everything she could to be considerate towards her partner and be passive towards the biased issues. It's about time that Gillian started to think for herself and for EEG to think about her.
It's so hard to vote in that poll; I think it's gotten harder for the percents to go up because the total number of votes have gotten higher, but we gotta keep voting. Even if Gillian doesn't win, at least we'll be proud that we tried, and I hope she doesn't lose with too low of a percent. It'd be the best if she wins though!

I wonder if alot of Charlene fans are still kids?? Some of them are really immature!! Can't they be considerate for once and open their eyes and see! I mean even a blind (a little exaggerated..lolx) can see that Charlene is getting more promotion than Gillian and how can they even complain about this issue when it's Gillian fans that should be complaining!! It's really frustrating a lot of us are trying to be considerate of their feelings but they don't care about ours...that's just sad...

I'm pretty sure this was from a photoshoot of Oriental Daily/The Sun of where they interviewed a few celebrities about their wish for the Year Of The Dog. Each celebrity had individual photos with a different breed of dog, so I think this photo was photoshoped for all the stars to be on the same photo.

Wow so much more new posts since I posted that one comment a while ago...
I read back at some recent old posts just right now and I just wanted to say that about Gillians voice. I love at how versatile it is (if versatile is the right word). If you listen to most of Twins Cds, from their first album to the most recent one, you can see Gillians voice differs in each cd. Like one cd its soft and sweet (Trainee Cupid), another is strong and childish (Evolution), and for each song its different too. This is what I love about Gillians voice. She tries out so many new styles to sing to fit with the song. While sorry to say this about Charlene but I usually find hers pretty much the same. I mean it can go high and soft/low, but I dont really see that much a new style of singing for her parts in the songs. And how some people say that Gillian has a soft voice, it really can be strong and loud. Like the EG duet 'How Bad' for example. I found that the way she sang that song compared to Twins usual songs to be very different. She seemed much more bold and stronger when singing with him. The only times I found Gillian to be singing kind of bad was around the end of 2004/beginning of 2005 when she kept on messing up and forgetting lyrics, but then the thing about that is that I think she might have lost some confidence in singing, and is currently regaining it back. Because I remember during 2004 when she was filming for House of Fury, she hurt like her throat or something to where she couldnt really sing for a while. And maybe that made her lose a bit of confidence (kind of like Joey when she lost her voice, but I think that made Joeys confidence higher once it got better and made her singing stronger), and maybe Gillian is in the same situation as Joey.
Also about the deletion of the kiss scene in 49 days, Im kinda mad about it. I mean I know its a small little peck on the cheeks, but still, us Gillian/Twins fans never get to see Gillian kissing a guy. The only one we ever really get to see is Gillian kissing Charlene! And most of us Gillian/Twins fans (or just me maybe) have been anticipating this scene, even though its something small, but its still considered as an improvement to Gillians restriction with EEG. Because lets say that if they never deleted the scene and we got to see it, and EEG gets a good response from it and that it didnt ruin her 'jade girl' image, then they might let her loose and give her more opportunities to act in movies to where she can kiss guys. Becuase yeah, I really dont want to wait until shes 30 or something to finally be able to see her finally giving away her 'first on screen kiss'. because first of all, thats kinda old of an age to begin with to be giving it away, and what if they 'retire' by then? I remember I read somewhere that Twins wanted to leave the ET around age 30 to start a family, and if that really happens then we never get to see her give it away!
Hehe, one more thing, lets say if Gillian was able to leave EEG and be under a new company/management. Do you think she should?
I personally think she should. Maybe if she was under a new management, she wont have her movie restrictions and be able to produce many good movies for us to watch, and wont be considered as 'the less acting talent' twin. And under a new management, she might have more time to rest and improve on her singing skills. I remember reading or hearing somewhere that she gets breathless easily so she cant really sing that high and sing for that long, so with the time to practice, she can improve to sing more ranges of songs.

And most of us Gillian/Twins fans (or just me maybe) have been anticipating this scene, even though its something small, but its still considered as an improvement to Gillians restriction with EEG. Because lets say that if they never deleted the scene and we got to see it, and EEG gets a good response from it and that it didnt ruin her 'jade girl' image, then they might let her loose and give her more opportunities to act in movies to where she can kiss guys. Becuase yeah, I really dont want to wait until shes 30 or something to finally be able to see her finally giving away her 'first on screen kiss'. because first of all, thats kinda old of an age to begin with to be giving it away, and what if they 'retire' by then? I remember I read somewhere that Twins wanted to leave the ET around age 30 to start a family, and if that really happens then we never get to see her give it away!

I think most of us thinks she should leave EEG since it's treating her so unfairly!!
But she is still under EEG contract...I think I heard...unitl when she is 30?? So if she really cancels on the contract she would have to pay alot of money to the company in order to leave.... I just checked the results....I think they are showing how much votes each of them have now....Fiona's is leading by so much!! Anyways, I like how Gillian's voice is versatile as well. Charlene's voice more or less sounds the same regardless of the song type. Uh huh, there was that short period of time where Gillian seemed to be lost in her career of singing, and I hate it how people hold on to that for like forever. I've read news about it during that end of 2004 and beginning of 2005 period of how she forgets lyrics and Charlene sometimes sings her part for her, but that doesn't even happen now, does it? But Charlene fans hold on to that and whenever there are discussions of how Twins sing, they bring that up everytime. I've heard Charlene screw up during live performances too. She screwed up during a live duet with Gillian and Aaron Kwok; she had hum one or two lines of the song because she forgot the lyrics. See any Gillian fans frequently bringing stuff like that up besides that I just wrote it to give an example? I believe Gillian has way more confidence now because she knows she can make it even on her own from her solos.

Gillian said in the recent Amy magazine that there was a period whereby she hated singing. She didn't have the time to practice and improve and so she had to do what she can on stage. This, however, only lead to criticism. She said that it was her singing teacher, Christine Samson, who made her fall in love with singing once again. If Gillian really has the chance to leave EEG, then I surely hope she does. EEG does have very good marketing strategies, but EEG artists are hated by a lot of people simply because they belong to EEG.
Sometimes, the decisions EEG come up with make no sense to me though. At present, I'm still not sure how kissing in a movie is going to ruin Gillian's image. Okay, Gillian has young fans, but doesn't Charlene too? How come they allow Gillian and Charlene kiss time and time again? Surely a girl kissing a girl is more likely to ruin an artist's image then a girl kissing a guy!

I'm really amazed by Fiona and Janice's fans....I have been sitting on my computer for like 5 hours and during those 5 hours, I only c that Gillian can increase by about 20,000 votes while I think Fiona's fans started voting again like 2 hours ago and look at them...increased by 50,000 votes already!! This poll's really going crazy. Fiona's votes are going up by hundreds while Gillian's votes barely budges at the tens values. I've been voting for a bit and I couldn't even get it to raise another hundred. I seriously don't believe that Fiona would have more fans than Gillian, no offense because I like Fiona too. 4. This way you can click on any pf the four site without changin pages and while the other one is uploading you can vote in the other window and it is all in the same screen. So when they are constantly loading you can keep chagin the window and vote on the other window.

Yeah, there is such a cheat cheat like that. My friend once mentioned it to me that all you have to do is use that link to vote tremendously for you without even manually voting in yourself. Darn, I totally forgot what link or technique that was but I'm quite certain that Fiona fans are using that method because it's quite absurd to believe that fans can vote that quickly when Gillian is quite popular too. But oh well! If Fiona fans (my personal assupmtion) are that serious and have resorted to this type of voting then I guess winning a poll like this doesn't really prove anything.
Ive opened up like over 50 windows ( I use something called Avant Browser so it doesnt fill up the taskbar thing) and voted like heck on each one. Did that like 5 times and it still barely helped Gillian.
Is the poll over?? Cause usually when you vote it will bring you to a page with links back to the male and female polls and the results...It doesn't show it anymore and I don't understand what it says.....
My method was to keep clicking on the picture...pause every other second with each click before/without letting it transfer me to another page that it does everytime we vote...<---(does this make sense??) I think it still counts the votes.

That's true! I've sort of given up now. I also think Fiona fans (maybe not Janice's) have some sort of way of voting. Orisun could have made this poll a little more fair and restricted everyone to vote every 10 minutes or something.
