personally as a girl, I think she very pretty, and If I do hate her for it, it only because I envy the girl. blush
Generally isn't her make-up clear and simple? now, if there is few photos of her looking over do, then so does other Actress (won't name them, just in case you peeps think I'm comparing her to them, but I think every actress does once in a while)

B: Can't Sing Can't Act, I do agree that her singing is very weak, I dunno about the weak cantonese part, since I quite enjoyed para para, but yeah. overall, her singing is very weak and almost every song she sang it just the same
Her acting, well I don't think her performance in HZGG was best, simply because it did look fake, and over dramatic. Zi Wei, was simply too weak and pathetic, and her Ru Ping role in QSSYMM isn't any better, she was just too perfect and girl, to be so forgiving, never stress and well, too perfect a human, it turns her imperfect (I like to add that, if she was a good girl, why would she always wait for Shu Huan, and hoping that he and Yi Ping would brake up? Yi Ping is her very blood sister)
I think her best performance, as I never forget, it the playful and spoil Y Fung Lu, a French Chinese girl from The last Tango in Shanghai all she wanted was to be loved by the mane love, but why, in vain those wait could she not succeed in the end. (if this sound like Ru Ping in QSSYMM, then you guys really have to watch the film to tell the different)
Her performance in Taiji was rather like Chor Lau Heung, and other roles, so, though Chor Lau Heung was enjoyable, it turns out too normal in the end. I haven't watch Flying Dagger yet or [/B], so can not tell if she improved, apparently her performance is pretty good in flying dagger said a friend.
I guess she will improve with times, if she does tries to hard, but at least she isn;t annoying like other pretty faces (If you want to know who they are, can always add it later )

C: Alyssia Chia and Vicki Zhao
Well I'm a Vicki Zhao fans, so she definately way better than Ruby Lin, but that isn't an excues to hate someone, simply because someone else is better, so immature, it like a game of popularity in high school, that the geek get seperated from the beauties
Alyssia, her performance in Sword and Sabra, was excellent, enjoyable, what else you wanna say? I don't know her to compare, but between the three, they each have their shares of Beauty and Talent, one person simply can't have everything, and if guys drolls for Ruby, then I like to see, who they really drolls for, when all the pretty faces are together.
Please, Hate Ruby anyway you like, just don't hate her because you compare her to others like Alyssia and Vicki.

hmm...let me say this, when i first saw ruby, i thought "she's pretty." and when i first saw vicki, i didn't have a thought. later...way later after a few movies and pictures. i was like "wow, vicki is beautiful." her beauty really shines through. ruby? that's all she will ever be, pretty. and only on some pictures. she doesnot have any inner beauty. i watched my share of her movies and my thought is still she's pretty but that's it. on the other hand, i enjoyed watching vicki in every one of her roles, and the same cannot be said for ruby's. so yea, i'm a female and and i think she's pretty but not exciting to watch and maybe over-exagerated a tad much. so there...my thoughts.

I don't understand why most girls would say that Ruby Lin is ugly when its clear that she's pretty. At least above average. Proof? Just look at the drools of the guys. Boys knows best when it comes to judging girls because well, they've been doing it their whole life.

Wait..I do understand. It's something called "jealousy." Or simply the urge to deem someone low because you dislike her.

As for her acting, it's not at its best but I wouldn't say it's extremely bad either. She's a so so. But its pretty understandable since she's just starting out in her career. By the way, people give too much credit to her role in HZGG when it was just a so so performance. Again, it was because those people were being biased in their opinions. I say give her a few more years. I'm sure she's working hard on it seeing the amount of roles she'd taken on to improve her acting.

Now her singing..if I can, I would give her one of those treatments for dogs so that she can't ever bark again. I understand that it's natural for actress/actor to expand their career further into other fields--but please, if you don't have it, you don't have it. There's no need to exhaust herself and others by continuously revealing her low (lowwww) point.

As for her sexy poses, I just can't even bring myself to look at her. She just doesn't have the look of a sexy girl. A sweet homemaker would suits her more. It's quite tempting to hurl myself whenever I see one of those.

Overall, she's an average actress. No more, no less. But I really admire how she had taken on so many roles despite whatever they are to improve her acting. Although, there's still that trend where her role is extremely annoying. As if she's trying to prove herself capable of playing Vicki Zhao's roles. And it simply ain't working. Oh well, nobody's perfect.

I would say that, in terms of looks, Ruby is above average, yes, but not by much. She's slender and acts like a "sexy sweetheart," which guys prefer very much. If someone insists that she is ugly, then, yes, that would seem like jealousy to me. But if someone says that he or she does not find Ruby to be very attractive, well, that is completely acceptable as well. When I first spotted her in HZGG, Ruby looked quite pretty. However, as time passed, and as I watched her play more roles in many other series, her looks seemed to gradually fade away. Especially in "Talent Guy, Pretty Girl." She was simply very plain and had a dark complexion in the series compared to her female co-stars, whose looks seemed to greatly eclipse hers. And in terms of singing...well, what can I possibly say? She is not a very competent singer. Even Vicki can sing better than her. But both actresses are pretty good actresses in my opinion.

When we talk about Ruby we tend to compare her wid Vicki n vice versa. They are ultimate rivals even tho they are friends. I am a fan of dem both. This is my opinion on dem.

Personality
Ruby, she's very out going and easy to socialise with also very straight forward. Wotever she likes no matter if its a bad fing she will jis admit she likes it. Her personality fits weo as being a celeb bcuz she enjoys the glory and fame but she is also very caring to her fans, friends and family. Ruby knows how to structure n make the most of her life very well.

Vicki, she is modest, intelligent and down to earth. She isn't very open n likes to keep a low profile making it harder 4 fans 2 understand her. I fink she is very serfisiticated yet easy going. She is very caring to her fans and family members. I fink she strives 4 perfection alot, always trying to improve more. Vicki has a very strong personality.

Similarities
Vicki and Ruby r both very hard working. They stand up 4 wot dey believe in n both of dem hav courage to do wot dey want to do. I fink dey can b very funny n witty at times. Ruby n Vicki are both striving 4 improvement not 2 out do each other, i fink dey jis want to prove 2 demselves that dey can do better therefore i dare say both of dem are not entirely satisfied wid wot dey got. Being a fan of both is very tiring because u see dey are constantly being compared by fans of opposite parties but it i enjoy being dere fan.

Beauty
Ruby, cute and pretty. She has an ideal body, very slender. She looks elegant in formal wear n funky, cute in casual wear. I love Ruby's smile, very sweet smile.Her eyes r full of affection especially when she cries..........her eyes jis glitters.

Vicki, she is also beautiful. I fink her eyes stand out the most. Her eyes r always bright n lively. She has a stunning smile, when ever she smiles it jis brightens up her whole face. I have no comment on her body.

I fink Ruby is abit taller then Vicki. I don't fink dey look pretty wen dey dress sexy n put on heavy make up. They only look good in cute n casual clothing.

Singing
Vicki, her singing is average. When she first tried singing i thot her voice was much like a kid. But she has improved alot.

Ruby, her voice is weak n soft. When she first started singing she couldn't reach the high notes. But she has improved alot.

Vicki and Ruby can sing but cant be considered as professional singers, lots of room 4 improvement in dis area.

Acting
When i first saw Ruby i thot her acting was average only. But over the yrs she has improved alot. She is now trying out other roles and she works very hard to improve her acting.

In HZGG, Vicki's acting was better den Ruby. In HZGG 2 dey were both at the same level. Vicki is improving but only bit by bit. She is choosing artistic roles and trying out a whole new concept in acting.

Overall, Vicki and Ruby r unique in dere own ways. It jis depends on how u see dem.

I personally think Ruby Lin is a gorgeous girl even though I am a girl. The people who says she is ugly or whatever must be jealous that she got all the attention mostly from guys. As for her singing, I do agree it is quite weak but at least she sings better than Vicky Zhao. For the acting part, Alyssa Chia is better but she is not as good looking as Ruby Lin. I do not understand Cantonese so I cannot judge wheather she speaks it well or bad so no comment. I think she is beautiful but nowadays she dresses too revealing almost like a slut ot ho which makes me lose respect for her. I think Ruby Lin is a very pretty girl and can be quite glamourous in many pictures. She is what many would say a vase because she looks beautiful, but doesn't show potential. I think she is only average acting wise, but singing is a little below average. I do not "hate" Ruby Lin because I don't know her in person. However, because she is a public figure, I have the right to "dislike" her base on my judgment not only on her performances but also her "intentions" while being a public figure. Of course, no one is going to know what she is in real life unless they work for her. Even fans who get to meet her, only gets to meet and know the exterior side of Ruby Lin. Therefore, as a person who is interested and likes to take interests in the entertainment, I have every right to judge her exterior and not interior characteristics (but most of us know that sometimes when regular people like us guess or predict about an actress's characteristic in real life, it is base on "supposed facts" which the media feed us with, and our own judgment). Therefore, don't hate me for expressing my opinions and thoughts.

I believe that when many people having a concensus that she is a "fake" person, that would probably mean, by an extent, it is true because I trust that such a large group of people disliking her is probably not for a wrong cause.

Reasons why I dislike her:

1) At first when news broke out that she is going to study in NY, I thought that was a great thing for an actress to give up part of their career to explore the world and obtain greater knowledge. HOWEVER, when she came back, she IMMEDIATELY ADVERTISE HER BOOK (which I really doubt she wrote on her own). Which really defeats the purpose of going for the educational purpose. It really means that she wants to go shopping, and to pull another public scheme to help her with her popularity because if most fans haven't notice but there is a line full of actresses ready, or IS ALREADY replacing Ruby Lin. For example, Fan Bing Bing, the girl who played Ruby's servant in HZGG is now A RESPECTED ACTRESS not only for her beauty but for her quality of acting. And believe it or not, but she has a lot of advertisments too (I guess Ruby's title of Advertisement Queen is another falsified media stunt).
Another really idiotic thing, is that she wanted PRIVACY during this trip to NY. And normally, any actresses with REAL INTENTION to get privacy wouldn't be so stupid as to annouce it to the press that they are leaving. I have noticed that Ruby LIn tries to advertise everything that she does.

2) Ruby Lin does not contribute anything in her movies except for her look, which is getting a little tiring. Don't you think?

3) Is she improving her acting skills?

4) Can she really sing? I admit that her songs are really good. BUT THOSE ARE SONGS! She won that one award for her SONG, not for her singing skills. I really like the songs, but when I listened to the quality of the singing, I felt really bad for good singers who have bad songs. Remember her song Para Para, which is a rip off from Aaron Kwok's song, she DID NOT SING, SHE TALKED THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE SONG because she CANNOT RAISE OR EXTEND HER VOICE. For people to like her is one thing, but for people to blindly love EVERYTHING about her, even her flaws is an IGNORANT act.

Oh yeah, the term "media whore" does not imply that she is a whore. The media actually created that term for actors or actresses who are obsessed about their "supposed achievements and popularities" that they must be in the spotlight all the time while acting like they are "indifference".

I quite agree with the thread starter. Ruby is indubitably a very clever girl, and to beautify her image, she seems to exaggerate and fake a lot things about herself. I think she should just be her genuine self, instead of trying to act all sickly sweet in front of the public. I remember once, where Vicki was with her and they were being interviewed by the reporters. Something got into Vicki's eye, and Ruby started asking people for a tissue and she personally helped Vicki to get whatever the hell was in her eye out. I mean, that's sweet and all, but the way Ruby did it...her concern for Vicki seemed exaggerated. Vicki, on the other hand, seems more down-to-earth, honest, and genuine. She just seems like a better person in my opinion. I also heard something about how Ruby and Vicki were secretly rivals and faked their good friendship on screen. Who knows.

totslly agreed with this thread! It's about time someone say something truthful about ruby! She is fake, indefintely! Media whore or not, i've heard more about gossips and adverstiements form her than her movies. She is a horrible actress and relies nothing, but her looks to carry her througha scene! The way she smiles, the way she talks to people, all fake! I bet youi f you talked to her and was incredibly beautiful or successful, she'll probably try to outdo with her so-called "innocent" look. She's one of those actress that you can't stand on screen---they have no presence, especially when they just stand around and look pretty. If it weren't for her face, she definitely would not have a career in the entertainment circle. I think she's hating vicki zhao at this very minute...how vicki made it so far up and she's still so far down there even though they started out the same way .....ruby lin is overrated! lol

OK, i have to admit that she's pretty, but that's it! that's the only thing that she has,
n i really feel disgust when i saw her pic in bikini or those sexy clothing
i mean c'mon, she already looked like slut, if she expose her body more, it's even worse
it's pretty interesting to know that most of gals hate her n think she's not pretty but all of guys think that's she's gorgeous

Fan BinG Bing played Ruby's servant in HZGG and now shes getting more famous and popular than her... the only reason y she made it this far is her looks....... i bet if she ddin't have the face.. she wouldn't be anywhere.. she never tries anything new to improve her acting unlike vicki zhao... she SUCKS!!

I'd say she's alright only in Hua Ze Ge Ge series, that was one big series I can't forget!It's not really nice to compare Ruby to Vicki, they both have their own good and bad points.
