u kno how girls in ancient series hav lik the coolest hair ever. it looks lik it wouldve taken ages to put together.
i was just wondering is it a wig or do they actually get the actresses to sit down and let them do the hairstyle????

They use a wig. Most of the actresses, if not all, don't have that long of a hair.

i think it takes them some time to fix the hair...but i really like some of the hairstyle...really looks beautiful

don't know bout in the past, but you can definitely see that the wigs they have now seem simpler. Most of the times, the front part of the hair is the real hair that the actresses have and then the extensions that make the buns and plaits. But seriously they're getting too modern with the hair, I mean you see most of the hair's going all brown and blonde and red.

yeah your right, the hair style is amazing.. i wouldnt mined doing my hair like that either, i mean its really cool ^-^ if.. i had long enough hair that is but i dont think that its all real hair in the series, most likely there wigs.. well half half maybe

Some of them are wig and some is their real hair. That why acting is not easy

I think some are wigs especially actors in those kung fu series with that long braid, you can see the wig line and I think some are hair extensions.

Actually it is a wig. Even for actors, their ancient headsets are also wigs.

You can see there are always news from ancients productions that the actors and actresses will say making up and setting up the headsets took a long time each day.

i think they use wigs, they probably arranged it before hand and just stick it onto the actress' head.

Haha, I couldn't help but lol when I read this topic because it reminded me of the old days when my sister would imitate Chiu Mun's (character in Heavenly Sword & Dragon Sabre played by Kitty Lai) hairstyle in the series. She would braid her hair and put these weird color clips and beads all over her head. I'm assuming that you were complimenting the girls' hairstyles? For guys, most have to shave their heads.

I think it's different with different artiste. With girls and some guys, they somehow arrange the artiste's own hairstyle, and use the wig as an extension to compliment the artiste's hair style. I think it's very rare that they use the whole wig to cover the girl's head nowadays.

I think for a majority, in the past and perhaps some now, they used a wig to cover the whole scalp/head.

I think you could tell teh difference between the artiste's real hair or if the wig covers the whole head, it's just very noticeable lol. You can see the glue pair with guys in ancients series with the half bald head, and half hair with a ponytail lol.

i think they attach the wigs to the real in order to get the hair style they wants.. But, the hairstyle do look good....

Like everyone else said it is basically a wig/extensions. Most of the hair is their own hair and then from there they work and put extensions and wigs they have used in the past from a lot of the other series. because if u look most of the styles are the same so they would keep the wigs for later on use. thats what i think

i have to say although they are wigs the hair styles look so cool and really pretty on the girls. however, i have not seen any ppl in real life that can style their hair like that.

I'm pretty sure they just comb the actresses' hair into a bun and just put a nice made up wig onto their heads and secure them with hair pins. If you look closer, you can tell that the actresses's bangs don't match the hair color of their wig. Their hair is usually lighter.

Um, acting isn't easy but what does putting on wig have to do with it being difficult? It's the hairstylist's responsibility. The actor usually sits in the chair to nap, occasionally awoken by the makeup artist and hairstylist who are both doing the hair and makeup at the same time.

The actor's hair is tied up and wrapped in a net, both guys and girls, then they tape and pin the wig on, then the hairstylist's job is to make sure it's secured and flatten out all the rough spots, and just retouching the wig to make it look more refined, usually done by spraying hairspray and water. Then they put on hair accessories.

I bet it takes hours for the hairdresser to do the hairstyle and the stars jusr have to sit there. But it is worth the wait beacuse its so pretty so exqusite and stuff lols but it should be heavy.

They're all wigs! The simple styles are real, I guess but the fancy ones are really wigs. Ha...ha...

i tihnk they mix it. ;lik they use some of there real hair as the top part and their jus add lik abother block of hair so it blends togehter. i dhunno jus gessing

well i know that the actors and actress use wigs for their cool hair but i wonder if anyone can actually fix that kind of hair styles with real hair..... hm... i wonder if my hair can do that too because my hair is almost down to the back of my knee.... that would be so cool if i ever got to do that!........

I love ancient movies male hair styles they look Sick espescially the one in lethal weapon. it look Nice. even though they look nice but today no one will do that hair styles anymore lah!

The hair in the front is real but everything else is fake. I mean, you can kinda tell because the buns/braids that they have on top of their heads are so shiny under the sun.
I'm just wondering, to people of the past really have such fancy hairstyles or do these ancient series dramatize them and make them look more fancy and interesting?
I'm really cuious to know because these hairstyles look so complicated (yeah I know theyre fake =P) but do the "real" people who come from the past have hairs like this?

i think they use a wig cuz i remember sharon chan saying she now have a hair loss problem cuz she wears wigs too much.

it a wig that they use for costumes series. some of the hair style require a lot hair. the actress didn't have that many hair. and some hairstyle are very detail, i didn't think they can get real hair to stay in place like that.
