No, I take a lot of notice of him, why else would I be appearing at so many events with him despite working through the night? I have taken four days out to make this special, but he has forced it all into two. When I hear him talk about the schedules he has for filming series, I am scared. (7/28/2004) Kelly Chan Wai Lam yesterday was named a promotional ambassador for a self guided visit of Japan radio program. She will promote the importance of learning Japanese. She revealed that she has studied Japanese in Japan for three years. "I knew about 80%. Listening to more Japanese songs and watching Japanese television help." Kelly said that she still cannot watch Japanese news programs with her language ability. "Because it comes back when I keep speaking it. When I stop I have to learn again."

Earlier for her new music video PHONE SAT LING (PHONE KILL ORDER) she put on her costume wrong (for burial) as if she was not too familiar with the Japanese tradition. "I didn't realize it until someone mentioned it. Luckily people reminded me! That day we were very rushed and the costume director wasn't Japanese. I don't know about their culture like that."

While at yesterday's radio interview at Commercial Radio, Kelly had mentioned that she hopes to become a mother before reaching 40. She will first have one child and pregnancy is really not as bad as she had initially thought, she might consider having a limit of three children. Kelly's way of teaching her kids will also not be as strict as that of her father. She recalled getting caned once for not doing her homework.

For her year end concert, Kelly has been taking yoga classes and has already been for 4 sessions resulting in bruises over her body. After the HK concert, she will have a concert tour in Mainland China in which she admitted that her main source of income comes from there. When asked if she had any investments, she answered that she had bought an apartment at high price but had made a 7 digit loss due to falling prices in property.

TVB's Anti-Crime Show was pre-recorded yesterday evening and among guests invited were Kelly, Andy Hui, Edmond Leung, Alex Fong, Shine and Cookies. Kelly has always set a good example for having a positive image and as such has been invited every year to attend the show. To this, Kelly said that she was very happy to be able to perform in the show again and it is most important to be able to forgive teenagers who have done something wrong and is willing to change.

When asked if she was aware of a black list to ban some singers from attending this show, she answered that it was unheard of. She would want to bring more positive examples to people. While she was singing her new song "Phone Killing Order" in the show, she had worn knee guards together with a dance adapted from yoga.

The initial rundown was that Kelly will be the first performing guest while Andy Hui wraps up the finale. However, on the actual telecast, both their time slots were switched. Upon checking with the programme producer, he had mentioned that it was only due to a change in time and there was no fight between the singers on who was to be the final performer.

Fifty Chinese gold-medallists gathered at the Hong Kong stadium last night for "The Pride of the Chinese - Olympic Stars Extravaganza" performance. From noon onwards, the performers such as Miriam Yeung and Joey Yung each took their turn on the stage for rehearsals and the fifty athletes arrived at around 4pm to prepare for the evening's performance. However, their tight schedules since arriving in Hong Kong had left them rather tired and many of the sporting stars could be seen catching a quick nap on the bus. Among the stars from sport and music taking part were 'diving prince' Tian Liang, 'diving princess' Guo Jing Jing, 'king of hurdles' Liu Xiang, Alan Tam, Hacken Lee, Kelly Chen, Andy Hui, Joey Yung, Miriam Yeung, Leo Ku and Alex Fong.

During rehearsals, singers and athletes had to give their all and among them "King of Hurdles" Liu Xiang worked well with Leo Ku in their duet, with Liu giving a very professional performance. In comparison, the table tennis representatives and opening act: Ma Lin and Chen Qi from China and Lee Ching and Ko Lai Chak from Hong Kong seemed rather nervous and sung out of tune, showing that even the bravest sporting hero can suffer from stage fright! Whilst singing the song 'Girl with Wings' with Joey Yung, Luo Xuejuan found it difficult to get into key, but Joey helped her out and the final result was not bad at all. Afterwards, Joey said: "I feel she has worked very hard as she was desperately trying to learn all the words in the afternoon. I was holding her hand whilst we were singing and I felt like a big sister to her."

Among all the stars, Liu Xiang was the most popular person of the show and the applause from the audience raised the roof as he duetted with Leo Ku, who was wearing a Chinese team kit, singing "Hao Xiang Hao Xiang" and then going on to comment on the friendliness of Hong Kong girls. Leo changed a line of the lyrics to say "Liu Xiang's legs are really long", making Liu turn to check on the length of his legs and causing some screams from the audience.

Of the singers taking part, Hacken Lee and Miriam Yeung were both suffering from illness and Miriam was steadily losing her voice during rehearsals and she was first to 'surrender' to the press later, saying: "My voice was croaky earlier during the awards ceremony in Taiwan and I had to take tablets to regain my voice then and I had used all my backup. I will have an injection and take medication for tonight's performance, but I have prepared a tape, so if I really can't do it then I will have to mime." Eventually at the performance, Miriam did have to use the tape and mime to the music for her performance because she felt that this was better than singing out of tune. She indicates that she chose a red outfit for the show because red represents China. When asked if she would be having her photo taken with the athletes, she says: "I tried to borrow a 7 megapixel digital camera from a friend, but she was worried about getting it wet in the rain and would not lend it to me!"

An amusing incident occurred as Kelly and Andy were waiting backstage when tennis sensations Li Ting and Sun Tiantian arrived to have their photos taken with them. After the girls had left, Kelly and Andy noticed that one of them had left behind a Chinese Olympic Team jacket and as the two started playfully fighting over who would claim the jacket, Sun arrived and said: "Sorry I can't give you the jacket, I have to take it with me!" leaving them rather red faced. Also, as Kelly stepped onto the stage, she spoke into the microphone, saying: "Has everyone had dinner yet?" and causing a few laughs.

This year's Miss Hong Kong winner Kate Tsui's performance as an MC was disastrous because as well as fluffing her lines during many of the interview sections, the worst mistake was during the interview for diving stars Lao Lishi and Li Ting, she pushed aside Wu Minxia. Luckily she realised her mistake immediately and apologised to her, but this left her rather embarrassed. Veteran MC Nat Chan also slipped up as he misread Ko Lai Chak's name as Ko Lai Ching and then totally forgot to introduce Lee Ching.

Although the show went on for an extra fifteen minutes longer than planned, TVB dare not cut the show for fear of inciting the wrath of the audience. Instead, "Twin of Brothers" was aired later than planned. Producer Chan Chi Kau indicated that miming was acceptable for the show because the size of the venue meant that it was safer than risking sound problems." In order to provide even more coverage of the athletes, TVB Jade will be airing the demonstration table tennis, badminton and diving programmes this afternoon and TVB Pearl will be showing volleyball and some highlights from the matches.

Kelly Chen, Leo Ku, Kathy Chow and sister Niki, Gigi Lai, Carol Cheng and Miss Hong Kong Kate Tsui were all guests at the opening of a new hair salon yesterday and the ladies all appeared in their sexy attire, with Kelly wearing a mini skirt and Kathy in a deep V-cut top both catching the attention of the press. Niki appeared wearing shades and when asked about this, she said: "I have an eye infection, so I can't put make-up on. The doctor also says that there is a slight misalignment in part of my spine and I am worried that this will affect filming of my wire scenes with TVB in October when filming starts on my new series."

Kelly indicates that the crystal lamp in the salon was bought by her and the stylist when they were in Europe, so going to the salon was like going home for her. Leo says that this salon not only cuts his hair for him, but also designs his image: "My image at the moment is really working, turning from innocent to mature."

As for Kate Tsui, who was the brunt of much criticism after her performance in the Chinese Athletes Show on Tuesday, she responded, saying: "Some of my seniors said I am doing okay and I felt that I was fine. I need to take part more in order to make improvements." Mandy Cho also supported her successor, saying: "She was very calm and I hope that she will continue working hard because she has a lot of potential as a host."

Kelly was yesterday at a Commercial Radio Station to attend the press conference to announce the donation of $100 000 from Kelly Chen Children Education Fund to Smile China Charity Fund. This sum of money will be used to provide free surgery services to 30 children with bunny lips.

Kelly had expressed that the three schools funded and built by her education fund has already started and she has the intention to set up another school. She had revealed that two of the funds major sponsors, together with fans had been to the area in China and were willing to put in more money to build another school.

On a report that stated Kelly and Andy Hui were fighting at backstage for the windbreaker left behind by Olympic tennis women's doubles gold medalist, Sun Tian Tian, Kelly had denied that it was untrue. She was at that time looking at the digital photo she had took with her and she had even prepared to give a table tennis racket to China's women's doubles gold medalists, Guo Yue and Niu Jian Feng, to sign but she had missed the chance as she did not get to meet them.

Kelly Chan Wai Lam and Mark Lui Chung Tak earlier on a TVB JADE STARBIZ interview exposed each other's secrets. Kelly revealed Mark is philandering, while Kelly behaves strangely during recording.

"He someties likes model cars, sometimes likes sneakers. His home has several hundred pairs of sneakers. Luckily he is only philandering in his hobbies. He is absolutely faithful to his girlfriend." Kelly also said that Mark's favorite food is preserved fruit like dried plum and lemon, just like a "little b*t*h"; however, Kelly also priased Mark's character. After working with him for so many years she has not heard him talk badly about anyone or gossip about anyone.

Mark struck back, revealing that Kelly behaves strangely in the studio all the time. Sometimes she would dance in the front of bathroom mirror, sometimes she would stretch on the floor. Kelly Chan Wai Lam yesterday attended a TVB Cover Girl event with Stephanie Cheng Yung and Monie Tung Man Lei. She earlier celebrated her birthday with her boyfriend and family. Kelly said that with her boyfriend she already has the old couple feeling and thus did not need to deliberately create romance. "We have a lot of fun regularly, I just don't want to give anyone goosebumps so I don't talk about it. As for birthday wish I wished for good health. (What about marriage?) I am not in a hurry, and I won't wait until after I win Best Actress. If I don't win one then I can't get married all my life?"

Tung Man Lei after revealing that she had a car accident earlier hoped to compete in the contest and win the car, Cheng Yung said, "You have a car already." The press tried to insinuate that they are at odds.

She's got nice voice, i love her new song "Love Paradise", it's an English song. The chinese version of "love Paradise" is "閣樓". Both version sound good !

(11/25/2004) Kelly Chan Wai Lam attended the 59th World Outstanding Youth award ceremony in Japan. Kelly was the only winner from Hong Kong this year and also the first Hong Kong female artist to receive the honor. Her father flew to Japan in support and even personally designed an over HK$100,000, 60 karate Tourmaline diamond jewelry set for her to attend the press conference with. Father Chan also expressed that he already has a concept for Kelly's dowry jewelry.

Kelly's father, her manager Claudie Chung Chun, Hong Kong Film Award winning fashion director Ng Lei Lo, image and art consultant Yee Chung Man and the rest of over 20 people entourage shared the joy with Kelly, who covered their flight, room and board.

"Several years ago on a goodwill visit on Inner Mongolia and Qinghai, I came in contact with children who have lost their education, discovered that due to lack of knowledge they had no idea about the rights that they should have. Kelly is such a sweet and caring person, who is willing to help those in need, such as those children. She is the best singer in Hong Kong, who is still beautiful even if she is shedding tears (as in the picture). I love her songs and can't wait until her next album comes out.

During an event for TVB's Cover Girl Contest, Kelly Chen and Kate Tsui were invited to be judges. Having previously judged Miss Hong Kong and Miss Chinese International, this is the third time that Kelly has been a judge at a beauty contest and she praises her own skills for being able to choose a winner. However, this contest is a little different because she will have a chance to get to know each contestant a little better before she has to judge and it will be hard to make a decision before the day of the competition.

Although Kelly is a renowned beauty, it turns out that before she entered the industry, she felt that she was not pretty enough and did not know how to dress up, so she never thought about entering a beauty contest. However she had great confidence in her intelligence and improvisation. As for whether she would appear on stage in a bikini, she laughs that if the swimsuit was quite big, then she would wear it, but if it was very skimpy, then it would not be so good. She remembers when she first entered showbiz, some magazines asked her to model some swimwear, but she was so scared that she turned them down immediately.

This is the first time that Kate has judged a beauty contest and she will be taking part herself representing Hong Kong for Miss Chinese International in January, so she hopes that the experience of being a judge this time will give her an insight into the criteria of beauty and be of help to her forthcoming pageant. (12/2/2004) Kelly Chan Wai Lam yesterday attended a jewelry contract signing press conference as the spokesmodel. She entered on a horse and when the confetti cannons went off the horse was frightened. Luckily Kelly was not scared.

As Kelly was about to sign the contract another confetti cannon went off. Kelly was completely off guard. After calming down, Kelly and other guests held a toast. She even received a HK$1.8 million jewelry.

Kelly said, "I am the most afraid of confetti cannon and firework because I don't know when they will go off. Even the horse was afraid, don't walk bakc and forth in front of it. I was the most afraid of falling off." For her first ad with an animal, she revealed that during the shoot she had to foster a relationship with the horse. Kelly said, "I fed him mint candy and asked the the owner to wash him three times because I have to be clean and have to lie on it for the shoot. After its wash it smells and I easily lie on it."
