i just finished this series. its very good and i enjoyed it. that thing i was most dissapointed was that Xiao qi and dung yung never got to be together. i thought she would trade her immortality to be human. anyhow, the end was kinda cute. i understood that they both did reincarnated. good series, ariel is so pretty and cute in there.
jjobsessed
Yeah, I just finished this a little while ago and I loved it! Ariel was really pretty at the end there and Hu Ge was so cute with the modern hairstyle. He looked years younger too! Their little baby in the movie was really cute. I have to say that this is one of the top dramas on my list and one of the saddest! I cried like it was me that was playing Ariel's part! weeping.gif I even love the OST more. There are some great songs on there!
QueenForAday
HEY! anyone knows the tittle to the songs that HU Ge sings? Does he sing that one song that goes " when the sun rises, I lose your hand " ? or something like that? lol I LOVE THAT SONG! i'm just starting to watch this series, and i really like it so far, im only on episode 2! lol i'm really busy nowadays so i prolly wont be able to watch till the weekends, lol but i love Hu Ge, i fell in love with him watching Chinese Paladin. I wish the female lead was Liu Yi Fei though, I love them together, but Ariel Lin is a cutie, i like her also. lol let me know the titles if you may!

marvo
hilaria
why i didn't see this scene in any episodes? how about you guys?

cr. ihuge.net

QueenForAday, yes the song's title is "tian liang yi hou".. hu ge sings two songs in twfx, the other one is yue guang

man someone asked the same question on spcnet.tv forums i ve seen it but i can t just figure what part was it at. i ll help you but cant even find my dvds/vcd/and vhs that my sister bought of this serial. yeah my older sisters a asian drama queen she buys series of all kind then lets people borrow them and loses them. well back to topic they should ve showed at least one episode or 30 minutes of the future episodes. will be pretty cool you know. i still dislike how bobbys duo s character died so fast. i liked sang gong hai chi(Sp) because of how he hated destiny and was trying to fight it and stuff. reminded me of neiji from nartuo. love the ost in the series makes everything more dramatic and intense you know. only if they had more action scenes i think alot of people would ve loved it since i know more people enjoy a good love story but like good actions series as well.

Hey Thanks for the explaination!! But if I remember correctly, Di Gua already left for heaven b4 Hao Qi died. I remembering them battling and like all of a sudden HaoQi goes in the mode of dying. It wassn't clear to me how he died. Did the "gatekeeper" kill him or something. 2 last uncleared points. Why is 100 days the max, taht's like 3 month... in mortal time and that's really not a lot of time. i mean he could have at least let Xiao Qi have the baby! If the Heaven King is already making exceptions for her daughter, y not grant her more happiness? And y didnt' Di Gua say goodbye to Xiao Qi... dry.gif he just left in the middle of the night... 1000 years after, isn't Di Gua dead already?... how can he still feel the presence of Xiao Qi. I wish there was more to the ending, not just they simply smile at each other, cuz that can represent so many things...Sry for the questions, but since I liked this series soooooo much, I need to understand everything..tongue.gif blink.gif

I've been scanning the earlier pages and some of your queries have been discussed as well. Hao Qi was fatally wounded by the "gatekeeper" and tho' both him and Yuan Bao managed to escape, he died along the way.

About the time limit thing, both Xiao Qi and Dong Yong raised that question in the show and the Goddess of Mercy explained to them. Its all about heavenly rules whereby an immortal and mortal can't be together and the Jade Emperor has already lost his credibility by allowing them to wed so the time that they can spend together is already a bonus. My guess is that since a day in heaven is a couple of days on earth so Xiao Qi's time on earth is limited by the no. of days both Emperor and Empress can "afford" to let her go "missing" in heaven without further repercussion in heavenly order. Thus the max of 100 days on earth could be equivalent to 3 days in heaven.

Di Gua didn't say goodbye, I guess, its becos' he couldn't do it face to face. He did left a note saying "I don't love you" which is another much queried topic in this thread. "I don't love you" has been written by Lao Fu Zi to Xiao Er as well. And the logic/reason behind it is reflected in the scene when Er Lang Shen took Xiao Qi away in the carriage wherein Xiao Qi told Di Gua that she doesn't love him and has never loved him, to end his continuous pining in misery.

About the ending, again 1000 years on earth is not equivalent to 1000 years in heaven. That said, the show did mention at one point that Di Gua was supposed to become an immortal in heaven after his current lifetime. It was also mentioned that both Di Gua and Xiao Qi would rather be mortal. So I would gather that after Di Gua's death, he became immortal and both him and Xiao Qi choose to reincarnate back to mortals (hence the Jade Emperor's sadness). And the amount of time in heaven before their reincarnation may amount to 1000 years on earth. Of course, the interpretation of the ending remains subjective.

Could it be a "dropped" scene? Just like in one NG, when Hu Ge pulled Ariel away during the soccer match, he ended up carrying her, supposedly then discovering that she's a girl, but that scene was changed to him falling on top of her instead.
hilaria
but if the scene was a dropped scene, how did these pics come with chinese texts on them, seem like taken from TV?

Good point. Ok. Now I have to re-watch TWFX again (in between ISWAK & Nodame Cantabile). Hahaha. But I doubt I will see this scene as I've seen TWFX 3 times already. Ahhhh *light bulb appearing here*, unless there are different versions. The China version different from the Overseas one?

me also rewatched TWFX many times, but never see that scene, don't know where to find it

that lead actress (i think is the lead anyways) reminds me of Crytral (lui yi fei) at frist glance but one a closer look crytsal is way prettier by at least a mile, i wonder why they did use crystal instead i mean i think she acts better and her face is extraordinary. any ways i think this series would have been better if they use her instead of Ariel Lin.

I agree with u on the fact that Liu Yi Fei is in someway prettier than Ariel but about the acting i definitely disagree. Ariel's acting is the result of many years in the business unlike Liu Yi Fei , she's still so young and i've just seen her in ancient series only while Ariel acted in many different kinds of series with different characters. Beside Xiao qi is not just a pretty girl. I cannot imagine seeing Liu Yi Fei acting in a Tomboy outfit. Her beauty is just like her name Crytal so fragile so i dont think she can take this one. I'm not say that her acting is bad though i'm just saying she 's not fit for the role but maybe Ariel will not fit to some of her roles . That's what casting are for. Anyway i love Xiao Qi and Di Gua , they are just irreplaceable.

i agree with you that lyf is prettier than ariel but acting-wise, lyf will need years to catch up if at all. a pretty face doesn't make up for not-impressive-acting talent and only get annoying after a while.

on a side note, i only caught glimpse of this series and thought the look and feel of the series is so much like chinese paladin. can anyone confirm this?

This is one of Hu Ge's BEST series, apart from "Chinese Paladin." I totally love him in here *swoon* His chemistry w/ Ariel is just unbelievable!

I didn't like TWFX in the beginning b/c it seemed really childish and silly. But later on, the story gettter and there are more characterization. Awesome series. Two thumbs up. I can't WAIT to see Ge Ge and Ariel collaborate again in LOCH 2007!

me too, first didn't really interested to watch it even i like Hu Ge. Need almost a year after it releases i watched this series biggrin.gif in fact just couple days ago finished it. And i like it. Simple luv story tho and great chemistry among the casts

Came across the following classic lines in TWFX (source in Chinese at http://bbs.linyichen.com). Just sharing them here:

XiaoQi: Fond. What kind of a feeling is that?
DongYong: That is, when you’re with her, there’s no need for words, no need for action. Merely by looking at her, you’ll feel a sense of happiness, a sense of satisfaction. You’ll go through “water and fire” - through difficulties and perils - without complain, just for her.

LaoFuZi: We have misunderstood that the meaning of love is to hold onto love. But if there’s love, why do we need to hold onto it? To say that I don’t love you does not affect love itself. Therefore, as long as there’s love, nothing will change it, much less a language. DongYong, do you understand that loving someone could be amplified to the boundary of not loving?

XiaoQi: I’m going to eat till I’m fatter than a hippo and an elephant, to frighten you off.
DongYong: What logic is this?
XiaoQi: SaiJin said that no boys will like fat girls.
DongYong: We’ll get fat together… you’ll be a fat girl. I’ll be a fat boy. DongYong must be together with XiaoQi.

XiaoQi: Mothers are the world’s greatest person. Love can change, friendship can change, the world can also change, only motherly love will definitely not change.

SaiJin: There’s no need to understand love. Love is to be felt. So long as you’re with the person you fond of, you’ll feel it.
Winks
And for a hilarious "silent" moment, there was this scene when Ariel was "LongGuangBiao" and she was asked to write a thesis to enrol in the school. She ended up making a portrait of DongYong with a bunch of ear-rings down an ear-lobe, a "bandit-type" scar on his cheek, a mole at the side of an eye and bushy hair sticking out of a nostril. Just one of the many funny bits in the series but this one I think has been "forgotten".
bIu3
man wats with all the cut outs, ffs ive only seen the ones showed at the end of the movie they were alright

winks, thanks for the classic lines, i simply like the scene "let's get fat together".. di gua xiao qi is just an innocent youngsters with silly thoughts haha..
they're so many funny parts until we can't remember all of them ;P

Are you both referring to just that "sweet potato eating" scene hilaria posted or there are more cut parts you missed?

hilaria, I mentioned about this scene in my post at HuGe & Ariel thread. Sorry I just kind of put everything in one post there. Anyway, I said that I found a 48-episode version at tudou.com and here's the link: http://www.tudou.com/playlist/playindex.do...=175442#4060128

Then again, ep.12 appeared to be missing from this 48-ep which may have this "sweet potato eating" scene 'cos ep.13 had the sweet potato seller telling DiGua's mother that the person whom DiQua had been treating sweet potatoes meals was XiaoQi. Also, this tudoc link has only Chinese subs.

Before the fire, SaiJin had a secret meeting with HaoQi (arranged by XiaoQi) in that house. Then this Bandit (can't remember his name in the show - something "Ba") held some kids hostage inside that same house (to protest against the mayor) and accidentally started a fire (he was holding a torch and when HaoQi tried to persuade him to release the kids, the torch was kind of knocked out of his hand). So SaiJin, HaoQi, the kids and the Bandit were trapped in the house on fire as the Bandit had barricaded the door when he brought the kids into the house. XiaoQi later saved them all so SaiJin was fine. She did declare her love to HaoQi when they were trapped in the house 'cos she thought that they were going to perish.

I bought the taiseng dvd set for this series 2 days ago. I think this is my best purchase of dvd ever. I am in the middle of the series. The DVDs have canto and mando language and english subtitles!!!!the english subtitles are decent. There are still some grammatical and translation mistakes but it's not horrible to the point that you can't understand anything. I recommend this dvd set for anyone who is in love with this series.

I just started watching this, I couldn't be assed to wait around for the complete set of the canto version anymore and it is so cute! HI!! I'm new here. My first post for my current no. 1 fav series!

Wanted to reply to the earlier queries (just my own interpretations):

1) 100 days limit - Some members have already explained this. Basically, humans and gods and goddesses come from different realms of existence and so there is no way they can be together. One day in heaven equals one year on earth. This is explained by Guan Yin in the scene where Xiao Qi becomes angry with her mother for giving them such a short time to be together. This is the reason why the King of Heaven was trying to prevent Xiao Qi and Dong Yong from falling in love, that as a mortal, he will die first and she will be left to grief. Eventhough he allowed them to be married in the end, he had to place a limit for their time together on earth. Due to his love for his daughter, he hinted to her to choose the red packets with folded edges for they contained the options to equal the max. limit. The couple realised this when they opened the remaining red packets to find just 3, 2, 1 days written on the paper inside.

2) dim lamps - When they were together on earth, Dong Yong promised Xiao Qi that he will light the lanterns on the street every night to ensure she doesn't get lost so she can find her way home. When she left, he kept to the promise. When the lanterns were not lit anymore meant Dong Yong was not around to do it anymore.

3) Reborn - There was this really nice scene when Guan Yin was handing the child to Dong Yong and he asked the goddesses about his parents. Guan Yin said "如果有缘, 它日必定会相" ( You will definitely meet again if you have that interactive karma.) When a person meets someone in this life, chances are that interaction will result in them meeting again in a next life. It really determines on ones kharma, and I guess that resulted in them meeting again in their next life when both are reborn as humans but now in the modern era. *so sweet* *sobs*

Dong Yong was suppose to be reborn as a 'fairy' after he died. I guess it may have been that Xiao Qi had moved on as well and reborn into another realm. Or maybe heaven is too big, they weren't fated to meet there. haha.. many possibilities for us to guess..

Anyway, I really x100 enjoyed this series. Great cast, great script!! Cant wait to see HuGe and YiChen's version of SDYXZ! haha..

I just started watching this a few day sago. It's pretty unique - the setting is more like ancient China, but the story itself is more like a modern day high school setting. Seriously - soccer? And an unmarried couple kissing? Among others... it's pretty ridiculous. And yet, that makes it interesting :P

is this drama filmed before chinese paladin?

no, It's filmed after CP.
This drama is so great. I've just finish this. biggrin.gif

well chinese made soccer if i let u know...chinese made along of things which our americans counterpart copied and claimed to be their own.... and kissing isnt illegal think about it there a god and human so theres nothing to be amazed about...even back in ancient china they probably kiss but not infront of people... since its not traditional or proper to be kissing or touching one another in public or when ur not married or engaged...and the kissing makes it more romantic i mean how can u have a love story without any kissing? well still love this series just dunno why people like the taiwanese version called 7 fairies better?

aww, I finally finished watching TWFX, and I loved it! I cried and laughed so much throughout the series. I did think certain parts of it were a bit dragged out, and I'm still annoyed with the whole Hao Qi love triangle thing, but I loved it overall.

The middle part was hard, because it was so depressing - I felt so drained while I was watching, just hoping that things would get better soon. Hu Ge and Ariel did a great job with all of the sweet and touching and funny scenes, and I liked Fu Zi and Xiao Er, too. Actually, for the most part, I liked all of the actors and actresses.

Aww, *tears* I loved it when Xiao Qi's mom brought her di gua to comfort her and nourish her in the fiery place of torment. It was so sweet and touching. It makes me cry just thinking about it.

I really liked the end, too - I'm glad Ariel and Hu Ge agreed on creating that ending together, because I would have been pretty upset if they ended it with the lanterns going out. That would be tooo depressing. It was a good ending, though, I thought. Not trite, because it still left something open to the imagination, but it didn't leave you brokenhearted either.

this serie is absolutely addicting...aerial and hu ge were really good in here..aerial was really cute in the beginning ...i never knew aerial good be soo good in ancient serie (i've only seen her in modern drama b4)

okay....might be stupid question but exactly how many episodes are there? The english subbed one only have 23 and then there's another link with a 40 something episode. Am I missing something here? O_O
PinkAngel506
hmm do any1 noe where i kan dl the canto dubbed version of this series or watch it online with eng subs? cuz i noe on youtube there is only eng subs up to ep 8. i try dl-ing the soft subs from d-addicts nd chinky movie's but it wouldnt work. i dl both rvmb file nd .srt file but when i open the rvmb file there is no eng subs...
swimfishyswim06
Jessica, the VCD and DVD versions are different in number of episodes, because they cut some parts out in the one version. I think the DVD version has 23 long episodes and is the full version, while the VCD version has some stuff cut out, and the episodes are shorter. I think.

PinkAngel, there's an English subbed version available to buy from YesAsia, which is good, but there are a few minor parts cut out of it. d-addicts is the only other place I know of that has the English subs available - I just downloaded the soft subs and read them in notepad while I watched, because I couldn't find the right version to go with the softsubs, lol.

I really like the OST for TWFX, too - it's haunting and beautiful, and the two modern songs on it are really catchy and upbeat.

Love the Hu Ge-Ariel pairing, too - can't wait to see even better chemistry than TWFX in LOCH!
Viggojude
I currently watching this, I am a very big fan of Hu Ge. I enjoy his acting in ancient drama.
I was very shock to hear him in a car accident a couple month ago I so glad he now back on his feet. biggrin.gif

This is such a good series. I usually can't get into ancient Chinese dramas, but this drama was funny, poignant and the pace was very good. It's my first time seeing Ariel Lin in an ancient drama and she looked great. Hu Ge and Ariel has such a good chemistry that I am looking forward to LOCH.

By the way, the ending was so cute!

swimfishyswim06
SwtAznAngel, I love TWFX, too. Hmm, as disturbing as it sounds, I think he might have loved both of them. From what I got, his heart belonged to Saijin, but because of his connection with Xuehai (their fates were tied), she was a part of him whether he liked it or not. So for Saijin, he really loved her, and for Xuehai, it was kind of like loving himself. Ehm, maybe someone else has a better explanation than me. Hao Qi kind of annoyed me near the end.

That is how I feel too. Maybe it was because I watched the cut version and didn't get to see how HQ and XH's love developed other than being connected to each other, I felt that he didn't love her like that. I felt that he only loved her because he kind of had to. sad-smiley-065.gif It makes me sad because she loved him so much and was willing to sacrifice for him. As much as I like SJ, I thought she could not compare to XH. XH was so beautiful. It kind of bugs me that HQ might have never really loved XH that way.

Another quick question, did SJ and HQ "spend the night together?" It was the scene where HQ met up with SJ after being departed for some time. There was a scene where they were going to make out. This was right before XH barged into the room, jealously. If they did, did HQ cheat on XH because wasn't he already married to XH or was it all in XH's head?

Things don't really make sense when you watch a cut version. sad-smiley-065.gif

I just finished rewatching this series and thought I'd take a shot @ answering your question. I believe SJ & HQ did spend the night together because later on towards the end of the series SJ was pregnant. So I think we can assume that was when they spent the night together, I mean I can't seem to recall any other moment in which they did except for that one. I hope that helps answer your question some. . .

Awh, on a side note I fell in love with this series all over again after rewatching it! I can't wait to watch Hu Ge & Ariel in their upcoming series, they have superb acting skills and on screen chemistry together!

No problem(; Yah I still can't decide who I felt the most sorry for, XH or SJ. They're both willing to sacrifice so much for HQ. I couldn't tell who he loved more between the two of them. Gosh love triangles are so complicated. . .I just rewatched chinese paladin and noticed Hu Ge always ends up with no one @ the end, T__T Hopefully in LOCH his ending with Ariel will be different.
