[News]

Niki Chow appeared at a promotional event yesterday, handing out some of her precious promotional photographs and movie theme CD's to her fans. Talking of her role in new movie "Love Battlefield", she says that although she does not know the results of the box office takings, she has heard some good reviews and she is very happy about this. The movie will soon be premiered in the Mainland and she hopes that it does well, especially as there are two mainland actors in the film and this adds to her confidence as she laughs that she will break into the Mainland market on this film!

Since entering the industry, Niki has been busy all along and recently she was allowed two weeks vacation, so she plans to take her parents away on holiday to go travelling and have some fun as well as spending some time with them. She has not yet decided where she will be going, maybe to America, where she can visit some of her relatives.

With Niki's sister Kathy revealing that they had both forgotten their father's birthday on Father's Day, Niki admitted this, saying: "My mum says that my dad waited at home all day, so he was not happy. The worst thing is that the elder generation feel that to make up a birthday celebration later is very rude, but luckily that was only his Chinese birthday and his Western birthday is yet to come and we still have a chance to make it up to him. I will be buying a cellphone for my father as a birthday present." Niki also adds that when they realised that they had forgotten their father's birthday, she had to grovel to her father when she got home, saying that as they are modern people, then they should celebrate Western birthdays instead.

[News]

Raymond Lam and Niki Chow were guests at the opening of a health food store yesterday and amidst reports that some herbs mixed with drugs will cause poisoning, Niki says that she has consulted with her doctor first and she will not take medicines without checking them carefully as she is afraid of losing her mind. Niki also indicates she is very pleased with the fee, but she is not yet the spokesperson for the company. After finishing her current work, she will be taking two weeks off. Originally she had planned to take her parents to America for a vacation, but she doesn't feel there is enough time and will be going away to South East Asia instead. However, she is also afraid of mosquito borne diseases in hot places as she tells of how she was terrified when a moth flew into her home earlier and now all the windows in her home stay shut so that no insects or reptiles can crawl inside.

Talking of this unwanted guest, she is still a little afraid as she says that she was watching television when this very big moth flew straight for her face. She was so afraid that she slammed the door and called for her father to kill the intruder. Her father killed and cremated the insect to remove any trace of germs. Another time, her sister found a lizard and she used the idea of picking it up with the vacuum cleaner and waiting for the maid to come and clear it up the next day. She laughs she has become a pest removal expert.

With Rain Li's earlier indication that she had received rude text messages earlier on in her career, there have been guesses that have dragged Raymond's name into this issue. Having been filming in Beijing for "Tossing Rain Turning Cloud", Raymond who has returned to Hong Kong for a short while was unaware of the news and asked whether it was a trick played by her fans.

Raymond says: "If it wasn't fans, then it is rather outrageous, but could it be some prank messages that she received by accident? Maybe it wasn't done on purpose." He also says that he has never received any provocative text messages and that it would be quite frightening if he did. Only his friends know his phone number and they will all call him directly and not send messages. Also, if he had a girlfriend, he would not send text messages to her because he prefers to contact people directly.

Raymond took part in the store opening event yesterday before heading straight back to Beijing to continue filming. He will be back again soon to promote new series "Twin of Brothers". He says that for this show he and Ron have sacrificed a lot, apart from their 'important parts', all the other parts of their body will be on screen, so they have great expectations for this show.

and any body have information of her i realised they dont have anything about her in this forum or is it in another forum and i just missed it??
add_oil
I like her in the Feel 100% series and she was really good in Hard Fate. Too bad she and Kevin couldn't end up together at the end. She was cute in the movie "Diva Ah Hei" with Shawn Yue and Charlene Choi.

Recently she sang the themesong to the movie starring her and Eason. It's in mandarin. Now, she has a second song released. It's a cantonese song called "Face Red" (Blushing/Mein Hung). This time it's the themesong for a commercial.
sweetiemd
I've just heard her second song and it's pretty good...I think she is one of the many truly multitalented people in the entertainment industry...(modeling, acting, singing)...Would love to see her in more series...she was great in HF and had incredible chemistry with Kevin Cheng...

the onli song i've heard from her was Love Battle, and she's actually not a bad singer i tink she's good smile.gif

Niki Chow was a guest at a summer carnival promotion yesterday sponsored by McDonalds and it turns out that as a child, she had always wanted to have a birthday party at McDonalds. She says: "This is one of my regrets. When I was younger, I was always just a participant at friends' parties, but never had one of my own. I will be celebrating my birthday this year with my fans, but as there are around four hundred of them, their restaurants are not big enough. Hopefully they will have their own theme park sometime."

Filming for "Prints on Red Sands" as a guest star earlier, Niki suffered sunburn to her shoulders and arms as she says: "I was like a roast pig! It was only filming for about two hours and I never thought I would be burned, so I did not put on any sun cream. Afterwards, I plastered myself with Aloe lotion, but it is quite painful." She reveals that she will be dubbing a cartoon show for the first time soon: "The cartoon film is a grand production and I will be playing a beautiful female fish. The Hollywood version will be played by Robert De Niro and Renee Zellwegger, so I am very honoured to be involved in this project."

Niki Chow took part in "The 37th Inter-school Science Fair" as the 'Star of Science' to encourage the youth of today to utilise their potential. Checking out the exhibits at the show was an eye-opener for her. Niki was not one for reciting passages at school and as she was good with numbers, she chose to study science, but she has never seen herself as an inventor, opting for some research work instead. She smiles: "In the days when I watched 'Dr IQ' (Dr Slump) and he created 'Arale', I was very curious about it so I bought an Arale doll and broke its head off to see how she moved. Later when I watched 'Toy Story' and it showed that toys come to life, I felt sorry for my doll that I had taken the head off!"

Niki says that it would be great if she could discover Doraemon's 'Wishing Door' because then she would be able to go wherever she wanted without having to fly. When she was studying, the majority of students in the science class were male and she laughs that although she did not look too bad in those days, the boys would all still concentrate on their books with their thick glasses, like true scientists.

Talking of the recent allegations of sexual assault by Mango Wong against Eric Wan, Yoyo Mung indicates that when filming kiss scenes with male actors, they are often more nervous than the females because they are afraid of being accused of overstepping the mark. Once when she was filming a kiss scene with Gallen Lo, he had an action that would brush against her chest and Yoyo herself did not mind, but Gallen was very embarrassed and asked the director if they could just use the camera angle instead. When they finally filmed it, Gallen asked Yoyo to add a pad to avoid touching her more sensitive regions.

Niki Chow has a rather tomboyish character, so she has never met with any untoward behaviour whilst filming and she laughs that maybe this is because she is quite fiery and people dare not come near her. She says: "Maybe because of this, they have started to arrange for me to be an action lady. However, I do know how to protect myself." As for the Mango incident occuring in a Eric's car, Niki says that when you get to know someone, then taking lifts is not unusual and she has had a ride in Alex Fong (Lik San)'s car before.

She's pretty and cute! I watched Feeling 100% II and Hard Fate and in both series she was able to portray her character really well. I think her acting improved because in Hard Fate you can see more emotions in the character. Personally I like all the actors and actresses in Hard Fate but the series was a bit long and sad. It was still worth watching since Nikki did such a good job with her character.

News
Louis Koo has been busy filming commercials lately. Attending a public event with Niki Chow last night, he said he read in the papers that the average longevity of Hong Kongers is the third highest in the world. He added it wasn't his goal to be 100 years old one day. He will be happy enough if he reaches 80.

Louis started filming a new Johnnie To movie two days ago. Other cast members of the film include Nick Cheung, Tony Leung (Ka Fai), Gordon Lam and Cherrie Ying. The film will have two parts, and Louis plays a courteous peace lover with a college degree. This character is very different from what he has tried before.

It is said that Louis may soon leave TVB after his contract expires. Asked about it last night, Louis said his contract would expire by the end of the year, and TVB did contact him for a possible renewal. "I did not ask for a better salary, nor did I ask to stay away from ancient serials. The main problem was how long I would be bound by the contract. My last one was five years. I hope the new can be cut to two years. The company wants me to shoot one serial next year."Louis said.

As for the rumors that he will start his own company and he wants Ronnie to be his manager again, Louis says he wants to settle his contract with TVB first, and there is no time to think about other stuff right now. He stresses he did have a pleasant time working with Ronnie when he was still in TVB. Why didn't he ask Ronnie to stay? Louis said he had a discussion with Ronnie, but Ronnie made up his mind to leave TVB and see the outside world.

With the emergence of bird flu in dogs in Thailand, many dog owners have become rather concerned recently, but Niki Chow was not aware of this and earlier she was suffering from a skin allergy after her dog licked her face. Niki says: "Maybe the weather is getting cold and he came into my room to warm up. At the time I was asleep and didn't know that he had licked me. Later I found that my face was very itchy and went to see the doctor, who suggested that the dog possibly licked some excrement before licking my face and this caused an allergic reaction. My dog is not allowed in my room now."

Niki is currently busy filming for TVB's new series "Scholar and Soldier" and she had to film a fight scene with the fight choreographer earlier, but she accidentally hit her opposite in the sensitive region with a stick. Filming yesterday, the choreographer refused to fight with her again, saying he did not want a repeat. Niki knew he was joking because she did not have a fight scene that day anyway. In the show, she plays a man and as her figure is 'rather flat', the director does not require her to wrap her breasts. However, the director did remind her that she needs pads to protect herself when she films the wire sceens. Niki will be working with Moses Chan in this series and she says confidently that she will not become involved in any rumours with him.

Niki also says that she was once asked to become a spokesperson for a breast enhancement product, but her manager refused it on the grounds that her figure was not suitable. She feels that with her figure, she would rather be flat-chested because if she were to enhance her breasts, she would have to lose some weight before she would consider it.

Niki Chow was filming yesterday in TKO TVB City for new series "Scholar Meets Soldier", wearing a constable's outfit and looking rather dashing as she showed off her kicks for the press. When asked if her character was good at kung fu in the show, she laughs: "Actually it is my parents who have good martial arts, mine is so-so, but I think I am very good and don't realise it is my mother Michelle who is protecting me all the time." Since starting work, she has had to fight every day, but as the martial arts choreographer was busy yesterday, she did not have to film any fight scenes. However, it was still tough because her lines were very long.

This is Niki's first ancient drama and when asked if it is hard work, she says: "Filming ancient dramas in the current weather is already very good, but each time I fight, I end up aching all over and the stunt masters suggest that I bathe in salt to relax my muscles. (Has the company arranged a stunt double?) Yes, but his figure is too different from mine, so a lot of the time the results don't look like me and I have to do it myself." Luckily, her costume is rather asexual in the show and she does not have many elaborate hairstyles and so the make up time is shorter and she has more time to rest. She also laughs that the choreographer has designed some very acrobatic moves for her and not only does she have to co-ordinate her arms and legs, she even has to do verbal moves, so she is saving them all to perform in forthcoming charity shows.

Has she thought about becoming a fighting star? She laughs: "Many people have asked me this, but I will not be doing this for the time being because to be able to do this performance is already very good. Earlier I was rather envious of Twins when they were filming 'The Twins Effect' because I thought they looked really stylish, but now I realise how much hard work it is." In the show, it tells of her pairing up with Moses Chan in the end and talking of him being a 'housewife killer', she laughs out loud and says: "In that case, I am a 'young man killer'."

Niki Chow was filming in TVB City for "Scholar meets Soldier" yesterday, where she plays a constable with many fight scenes. The fight co-ordinator is looking after her though and has given her a set of knee pads to avoid any injuries during fighting. However, Niki laughs that this is just to avoid her injuries getting in the way of filming.

Playing an action heroine for the first time, Niki is really fighting blind and is using brute force when it comes to her scenes. Although the stunt men have pads, Niki always seems to hit them in the sensitive areas, leaving them in some pain. Niki laughs that she upsets a lot of the stunt team every day and has to buy them all food to make it up to them.

Apart from being afraid of being hit by Niki, the stunt team also have to be wary of her baton that she wears hanging from her waistband because if she spins around, it is at the right height to inflict some pain on a man. This makes everyone rather afraid of Niki and she is a little embarrassed, apologising all the time. As a result, all the men in the show are very afraid of her in her constable's outfit and daren't go near her. Niki says that it's not so great for her either because when the men get hit, their natural reflexes kick in and she has been hit in the face a couple of times, leaving her bleeding.

Niki Chow and Moses Chan were at the blessing ceremony for new series "Scholar Meets Soldier" yesterday and in response to reports that Mandy Cho's constant NG's lead to complaints from her co-stars, Niki says she will not have the same problem: "In this series, I do an awful lot of fighting and I am always dangling from wires. Usually the NG's are not down to human error but more to do with technical difficulties!"

Co-star Moses has recently received an offer to promote real estate and he laughs that to be able to shoot a suit advertisement has been an ambition for him: "My price is not high, but I don't understand why people did not ask me. This ad was thanks to the company. I had always wanted to do suit and real estate ads, so if I can them them both then it would be a dream come true!"

The sixth "Yan Chai Charity Golf Tournament" was held at Clearwater Bay Country Club yesterday and HSBC Managing Director Ngo Ching Fai JP was the guest of honour, with Niki Chow invited to drive the first ball. This event raised a total of $500,000 for the Yan Chai Educational Services Trust.

Simon Yam was originall to be a guest, but cancelled at the last minute, but other celebrities at the event included Nat Chan and his wife Cecilia Wong, Michael Miu, Stephanie Che, Rain Lau, Yvonne Lam and Helen Ma.

Niki has been busy filming recently for ancient drama "Scholar Meets Soldier" and rushed to the event straight after filming yesterday morning, so she was a little tired and seemed rather subdued. Whilst everyone else talks about slimming, Niki is actually trying to put on weight because her slim figure is an obstacle to her action shots, especially during the wirework, where it is easier to be injured if you are too slim. As a result she is trying to pile on some pounds in the hope of taking her weight from 110 lbs to 120, but she is worried that the weight will show on her face and her breasts will seem smaller, making her look bad on the screen as she puts on and loses weight very easily.

Alex Fong and Niki Chow were at an event to witness an attempt to get into the Guiness Book of Records as two hundred cars were driven into the site of the old Kai Tak airport to build a giant mosaic. Among the cars was the Rolls Royce that once belonged to International Singing Superstar Theresa Teng and Alex and Niki were both very excited to see it, calling for a photo to be taken of them with the car. This event was to raise funds for the orphans and disabled children in Nort West China.

Alex seemed to be in high spirits yesterday, but he revealed that since eating a bowl of mussel congee, he has had a serious allergic reaction and his right eye has swollen up to the size of an egg. He says: "Apart from being allergic to some medicine, I also have nasal allergies, so my mother says that I have a very precious and delicate destiny and she does not let me help out with the cleaning work at home because as soon as I come into contact with dust, then I will be very unwell."

Niki Chow was in Tai Po's Super City with Boyz and Sammi Leung promoting animated movie "Shark's Tale". She has recently been in TVB City filming for "The Gentle Crackdown" and as she has to shoot fight scenes every day, she finally succumbed to the exhaustion and paid a visit to the emergency room where the doctors diagnosed her with Intestinal Flu. Niki says that whilst filming in the forest hills, she had no choice but to pee on the ground: "Although there was a female assistant looking out, there was a draught down under and I have never tried this before in my life. It was okay for the men, but it was rather embarrassing."

Niki Chow, Moses Chan and Cindy Au were filming the final scenes for "The Gentle Crackdown" in TVB City yesterday and as the weather is getting rather cold, Niki was wearing three pairs of shorts and two vests under her costume as well as plenty of heat packs and holding a hand warmer.

Niki says: "Although this series has a lot of fighting scenes, wire scenes and water scenes and I often had to work through the night, I have been very happy and I will miss it now we have finished. (Are you pleased you did not have any rumours with Moses throughout filming?) Yes, maybe we don't match each other, but we do get on quite well and often hug each other like brother and sister."

Niki has been watching the news on the Tsunami Disaster and she she has donated $3000 to the Orisun appeal. Niki says: "I never imagined that there would be such a serious natural disaster. I have been to many of the hotels in Thailand and seeing them destroyed is quite horrifying. Originally I had planned to go on holiday to Thailand this Christmas, but I had to finish filming and could not go, so I guess I am lucky to miss this disaster, but it is also a warning to us that we should be more aware of nature and the environment." As well as donating money, Niki says she would like to offer some practical support and if time allows she would like to go and visit the affected areas as a volunteer.

Niki Chow took part in a Pet Lover's Computer Design Competition event yesterday and arrived half an hour late, but she immediately rushed onto stage and apologised. She indicated that this is the first time she has been late for an event and she feels very sorry about it.

Niki then revealed that since she was young, she has been an animal lover, often helping out as a volunteer at the SPCA, but through lack of knowledge, she inadvertantly caused the death of some of the animals: "I tried rearing a rabbit like a dog and gave it a bath before blow drying it, but it died. It was only then I found out that rabbits could not be immersed in water." However, she does not ask that her boyfriend is also an animal lover: "I have seen reports that when couples have arguments, they neglect their pets and this is very wrong."

Shawn Yue Man Lok and Niki Chow Lai Kei yesterday recorded a radio drama. In it they played a couple who have known each other since childhood. Chow Lai Kei's character thought Ah Lok looked ugly until he grew up and turned handsome. Ah Lok said that in real life he definitely w would not choose this type of girls. "She doesn't know what she has and now she comes back. That's impossible."

Currently single, Ah Lok felt happy and free. "Right now dating is very stressful. If I really do I won't choose someone in the business because the scheduling and income are unstable. There is no sense of security. Many entertainment news reports are misleading and give people a lot of pressue. Is not dating bad now? It's pretty free. In the future though I will definitely get married."
Chow Lai Kei will release a record this year. She will perform the radio drama theme song as well as her TVB series SAU CHOI YU JEUK BING (TALENT RUNS INTO SOLIDER) theme song. She expressed that although the record industry was on the brink, she would tough it out.

[The Sun]

Niki Chow Lai Kei has become a Biore face wash cream spokesmodel. Earlier she went to Thailand for a television commercial. The concept is to merge a Thai spa with Japanese hot spring. Thus the advertiser shipped Japanese oranges to Thailand and asked the locals to build an article cherry blossom tree. It also asked a Japanese designer to make a Japanese costume for Niki.

During the shoot, the advertiser arranged for a big in ground wooden tub and put Japanese oranges in it. The bottom of the tub was automatically heated up for the hot spring effect. When Niki entered the tub but it was not heated up yet. During the shoot she was shivering but she still toughed it out like a professional. When the crew realized, she was already frozen stiff. The team waited until it was heated up then shot again so NIki could enjoy the hot spring orange bath.

When Niki posed by the cherry blossom tree as the director asked, she hummed her new song. The crew had no idea what she was singing and thought she was reciting a poem. Since Niki became a singer she has been working hard on her record. Niki has spent half a hour everday on a mountain walk to train her breathing. Her record company co-workers supported her and went with her everyday. "I am very touched. Their treatment makes me feel very warm."

Wow, i dunno, niki has this unique form of beauty. i cant put my finger on it, or explain it very well. but she has this angelistic face that captures me the instant i lay eyes on her. shes beautiful no in a sexy or slutty way, but in an artistic way.

And shes talented! shes got the body and the brain, the full package! so shes got my support in w/e venture she treads into!

Niki Chow Lai Kei earlier worked on the TVB music video for her new song TOO BAD HE HAS A GIRLFRIEND (HOR SIK TA YAU NUI PUNG YAU). They shot at a mansion and Niki was very familiar with the music video shoot. The director even got a dog to be her co-star.

During the shoot, Niki had to face a dozen or so light bulbs and sing. Halfway through he had a minor accident as several bulbs suddenly cracked. Niki was frightened and luckily she was not harmed. The director immediately consoled Niki. "You have a television series and now a new song release, you live up to the title 'red until the lights pop'." Niki said, "The record release has given me a lot of pressure. I hope it will have everyone's recognition."

During the shoot, Niki and the dog got along well. It kept following Niki and sat still to stare at her as if she was listening to her sing. The crew joked that Niki not only attracts suitors but even dogs are under her spell.
