Does NE1 other than me hate Stephen Chow? I mean I liked him in his older movies, they were funny. But now I really hate him. I mean he looks like a druggie (I'm pretty sure that topless scene of his in Kung Fu Hustle was digitally enhanced).
His recent movies suck like crap. I absolutely loathed Shaolin Soccer, it wasn't funny and were those vulgar, sex implications suppose to be jokes?! Kung Fu Hustle was a mediocre film at best. I mean was it really that funny? There was only one scene I actually laughed at. He obviously stole ideas from western films (eg. Road Runner, the Incredible Hulk). In fact since 1995 (the past decade) his movies been going downhill on a very steep curve.
The guy earned his money now retire already. Don't direct, don't write, heck his acting isn't even that good, granted there R plenty worst. His success is due to being lucky and landing good roles from ppl that R actually professional script-writers.

I do agree that his old movies were funnier and that his recent ones are lagging, but I don't hate him. Hate is a really strong word! :lame:

Funny how when people undergo change that they find themselves being "hated" upon. When its all fun and games people love you, but when you get serious and become someone in life they start to loathe you. Funny thought isn't it?

Hate is an awfully strong word. While I agree, most of his recent work isn't up to par with his older stuff, he apparently caught the eye of many people. Didn't he win some award for Shaolin soccer? And the past 2/3 movies, weren't they breaking records in the box office?
I agree, Shaolin soccer really wasn't very amusing. I heard from some people that it was hilarious yet when I watched it, I struggled to finish the film. As for Kung Fu hustle, I don't know what to say, decent special effects? Sorry, that's the only nice thing I could say, and it was forced.
I still like God of Cookery though.

I don't know why you hate him, his funny, he creates his own movie, and his a great actor.
The reason his movie is getting 'crap' according to you guys, is the constant use of computer image, but thats because its expanding now. Look kung-fu hustler is now travelling around the world becoming popular in america, australia and so on. Don't see many movies becoming world wide. he gotta have some credit dere.
i think his funny, his got a funny look which give him more of a character.
Whats to hate about him? He is still a funny guy. He's just keeping it real, doesn;t have to waear nice clothes, you know he can afford any clothes, but he chooses to wear plain outfits. He still makes me laugh but yea his latets movies aren;t as good as it use to be.

I agree that his older movies were the funniest. His recent movies are mediocore at best.
yep i agree!!! his old movies were hilarious...his latest movies were all crapp.....kungfu hustle?!?! lol that thing was a joke..i dont even know why it got awards
I also agree to most of the replies here. His older movies were much better. But really, what is good and what is bad? We likes his older ones, but his newer ones got Awards and went international. That means something.
By the way, that someone make movies that didn't meet your expectations, doesn't means you need to hate this person.
But, in real life, Stephen is getting more bossy and a bit arrogant cos his success.
Anyway, I still like to watch his movies.

I could never hate a man that once brought so much joy and tears to my eyes....even if that was close to 8 years ago. The man is a legend no matter how you look at it.
Stephen Chow has really great movies.....from over 5 years ago. Yet you hate him.
Jacky Cheung has really great songs......from GENERALLY over 5 years ago. Yet you say nothing about him.
Then again, any Jacky haters in this forum will be prosecuted........

I have to say that Shaolin Soccer did have a good story and was really funny. I just don't understand why you say this one is mow liw, if you talk about Kung Fu... ok. But which comedy from him isn't mow liw?

Yes, I know hate is a strong word. But I really do dislike him to that extent. If there R ppl that love him, then I have the right to hate him. I use to like him but there's just something about his recent character development...
NEways...he reminds me of those singers that can't act but go into acting b/c they got the fanbase. I really dislike the stuff that he writes (and some stuff that he directs) does he think he'll be good at that b/c his movies did well? But apparently lots of ppl like the stuff he writes b/c it's getting acknowledgement which will only increase his ego. *sigh*
No, it's not getting crappy b/c of digital enhancements, I don't mind digital enhancements, in fact I like them. It's getting crappy b/c of the vulgar sex jokes. I think his new movies lack...classes but that's just me.
Lots of Western movies R world known, but I guess U're talking about chinese movies. I'm not sure if I want his films to be representing the standard of HK films cause in my view there R tons better.

I do not hate Stephen Chow and I love watching almost all of his movies. He is just so incredibly funny and usually gives his very best in most movies. I really liked his movie with Vicki Zhao called Shaolin Soccer because it was one of the most hilarious films featuring him.

HE'S THE BEST. EVEN THO HE LOOKS RETARDED NOW lol IM STILL GONNA LOVE HIM KUS TO ME HE'LL ALWAYS BE THAT SAME OLD STEPHEN CHOW !
theres not much great comedian like stephen chow these days.. i mean alot of actors playing comedic roles seem sooo unnatural and forced. but stephen chosw roles are always naturally funny. hope he brings more better films in future
I would NEVER hate Stephen Chow!! he's the BEST!!! I love all his movies...ok maybe his older movies ARE funnier, but I think Kung Fu Hustle and all his other "new" movies really arent that bad~~~

i really dislike stephen chow's acting...especially when he stared in kung fu hustle...i really really disliked that movie it just that they seems to be trying to make the movie funny...but it not that funny in my point of view atleast

i just don't like to watch his movie... his movie may be funny and it just don't have any point... and in some of his movies, he like to make the actress look ugly... but, i know a lots of guys like to watch his movies... my bro and my guy friends just like to watch his movies so much...
this guy is HILARIOUS
yea i admit some of his newer movies arent as good, but they're still funny (i mean, most comedies nowdays don't even compare)

If you don't like him don't watch his movies, why are you wasting your energy convincing others not to like him as well, are you that miserable that you want others to join you and to validate you?
I think Stephen is a great actor, the fact that you laugh when you go to his movies are good enough indications that he is funny and a good actor, no need to bash him.
Let me see you go make a Sholin Soccer, I am sure to laugh my ass off.

Well, I'm not about to say I hate him but I'll agree with your statement that his older movies were funnier. Whenever I watch his old movies I end up holding my sides with laughter. In his recent movies like Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle I may have chuckled a bit but I never really laughed like I would in his old movies.
i cant hate this guy. hes an absolute LEGEND and a great comedian. His movies always and forever will do well when released. I think people misunderstands him because of his characters in movies, but if u see him in real life he seems like a down to earth guy and very mature....
Many chinese stars make it big internationally like bruce lee, jackie chan, jet li, chow yun fat because of martial arts/action films but stephen chow makes it big with comedy movies. The western peoples perception of chinese stars/movies is no longer just Martial arts n kung fu but we also are great with comedy movies and Stephen chow done this.

Why would anyone hate Stephen Chow? He's incredibly talented, his movies are hilarious (for those who didn't like them or get them perhaps it's because they are a bit crude, but HILARIOUS nevertheless), and he's helping Asia cinema gain recognition on the international sphere.
