I, personally like both of them very much and in fact, I hear the two of them are very close and really good friends. But to compare them, I think Ariel is a better actress probably because she studies more often and it's really ya know "what she does" while Rainie can kinda act, she's better at hosting like many have said.

Now, what's your take on this?

I like them both too. But I would say Rainie is a more 'all around' artist. She can sing, dance, act and host shows. I wouldn't argue that ariel is the better actress, but rainie has shown steady improvements and as she gets older hopefully she will get more variety of roles to play.

I've watched the interview with them both in it on KangXi Come, and it was apparent that rainie is the more talkative one and she has a more out-going personality. Ariel seem more calm and reserved. But I envy them b/c they have such a good friendship, its so cute how rainie protects ariel and act as the 'older sister' even though she is younger.

I dont think Im being biased when i say that rainie will probably go further in her career. I think she really has potential and we get a glimpse of it from her new album. Also, I think she has quite the talent in comedy and she's not afraid the make herself look ugly. Just a really likeable girl and a personality that is easy to fall for...

I like them both a lot, and I think they both have their different strengths. I think primarily though, I have more respect for Ariel (at this point in time) because she's fairly young and although she had a really good acting career so far, she's still working hard to get a college degree and be with her family. At least that's according to here thread in Taiwanese entertainment section of AF. With her success, she probably could go into the entertainment business without a college degree and be fine. After all, not many stars (at least it's not widely publicized) have college degrees.

I know Rainie also has a college degree, but now her focus seems to be on her career, and so she's just juggling her family and her job. Ariel has to add schoolwork into the mix too. And college is NOT an easy ride.

RAINIE ALL THE WAY. there's no way you can't like this girl. she's talented and she can really sing.

Ariel appeals to me more and like nanshi says, both have their strengths. Rainie for a great host-personality that can capture people. And Ariel for her acting.

i think both of them are great.. cant really compare them. but what i've feel is that i think Rainie is kind of geeting bit of proud in sumways.. when she is getting more n more popular..(no offence. i'm her fan too!!).. But overall, i still love both of them..

Ariel is an excellent actress, her golden horse nomination in it was a proven. Prob she should start doing some serious films than idol series.
Rainie strong hold is only her hosting and average voice.

I seriously think that both of them had their own style and they are good friends in reality. I mean, their performance are good for a actress and singer in the Chinese industry and I like both of them. They have their own unique style and personality which are different from each other, they are cute and pretty too.

I'd say I like Ariel Lin better, because I think her acting skills are far more better than Rainie's, though Rainie's singing is good. I guess Rainie is more popular, but I still find Ariel better.

I vote for Ariel. She's truly the girl next-door type. She's quite low-profile, not wanting to draw too much media attention to her private life, which makes me wonder if she's currently dating a fellow actor under our radar

Her acting is just superb, especially for an actor of her age. Not to mention, she appears in tons of MV too, and always looks soooooooo purrty. I love her best in Tension's She's Having My Baby MV (in case anybody haven't seen it, try search it in www.youtube.com, under "Tension" or "SHMB"), she's just naturally beautiful, without having to put heavy make up on. No offense to Rainie's fans of course ' I just can't get enough of her

Actually Ariels sings too. She sang that song "lonely northern hemisphere" in the show "Love Contract" I also heard that she's having an album coming out next year... Both of them are good actresses. , but I think Ariel is better at portraying different characters.

I love both Ariel and Ranie. I saw Rainie on MG and really likes her cause' she was cute and funny. And then I watched love contract and notice how great of an actress Ariel is and I watched Devil Beside You and Ranie acting improve and her cute expression was priceless. Then moving on to It Started with a Kiss, I leaned more toward Ariel. I have to say Ariel is one of my favorite taiwanese actress and Barbie Hsu XD

I also like both, but HEAVILY favor Ariel haha. I just like Ariel more because the characters she's played shows what a versatile actress she is. SHe plays the cute and serious roles well. I haven't seen Rainie as versatile, but she's good too. Her acting isn't up to par to me though. Just my opinion. I thought it'd be weird watching Ariel as XQ when she was Xiao Feng in Love contract, but she's TOTALLY XQ in "kiss".

this is a hard choice but my vote went to ariel lin because i think ariel is more mature...although i love both's style and rainie i love her cuteness...i also admire her admitting it too..

I vote for Ariel although I'm also a fan of Rainie. I absolute adore her hosting on Guess Once and Again. She's really cute but I think she's too "one-sided" like she can only play cute roles and sing in one tone. Rainie was a singer first so that's her first and foremost profession where as Ariel has the ability to be more diverse and versatile in her roles because she's an actress. That's her main profession. Wandering into other aspects of the entertainment industry is difficult so I applaud them both. I doubt she'll ever wander into the hosting area. And singing wise, we haven't heard Ariel sing so much so we'll just have to wait and hear.

Rainie!! She's cuter. Though I don't think she host Guess very well... Sometimes it just feels like she's in her own thoughts or something.

I loved rainie soo soo much and mike last time.. then i heard mike acted with another actress b4 rainie so i went to check ariel out.. my first impression of ariel was bad bad.. as time goes by.. she began to grow on me.. and now im crazy bout her!!! In my opinion, Ariel is better. I used to like Rainie a lot, but her cute act is really grating on me. I know a lot of Asian actresses do the cute thing even when they're like 20 something, but I feel like it's a little fake.

Wow. Way to be totally superficial. And even if you were to compare their looks, I can't say that Rainie's prepubescent body & style, not to mention her peach fuzz and horrendous bags underneath her eyes, are better than Ariel's simple, clean-cut style.
