Just finished watching this series today, it's my first J drama so i didn't know any of the people and the style it has, and i must say if they're all as good as this i might watch more J dramas in the future.
Ok, i'll admit i'm not the most loving person in the world, i don't usually cry in films/dramas. As for crying in this series i
can see where i should cry but yeh i'm just too used to not crying.
I'm never into sad/touchy/feely dramas but i've been hearing alot of good things about this so i thuoght i'll give it a go, plus it was only 11 eps which is good for me since i can't be bothered with a long series and it was already eng hardsubbed files

. It was a great decision, the story was good the acting was good and the situations that were being portrayed was very realistic how people would deal with in real life.
Because i really like this drama i'm going to review it or give my opinion in a very long winded fashion.
SPOILERS AHEAD[spoiler]
ActingActress playing Aya (Erika) is great, the crying scenes and the optimism that she was putting across even with all those troubles was avery heartwarming. Haruto(Ryo) didn't have alot of chance to show his emotions until nearer the end of the drama he's also good, probably not as good as Aya at showing he's hurt upset, there were tears but the expression lacked a little i thought.
The Ikeuchi family, they were ALL SO CUTE, i loved the youngest daughter Rika (i want one of those some day

) she looked and sounded cute, but as with all kids in the last ep or two when she lost her two pigtails she ain't cute no more

. Hiro played alright not much focus but handled the scene where he was ashamed of Ayo well. The only time where i was
this close to shedding a tear (if my brother wasn't there i probably would) was when Ako was telling Hiro how Ayo was making so much effort and that how can he be ashamed of her etc.
The mother acted really well too just like Aya, the pain of being a parent and not being able to help you're child and not being able to understand what they're thinking. It was brilliant. But my fav Ikeuchi family member HAS to be the father, like i said i'm not into touchy feely dramas so it was great for someone to bring a little light entertainment, plus since this was my first J drama he really wasn't like your typical parent in terms of being quite giddy most of the time. But i loved the scene where Aya got her mobile. ^^ Although he doesn't seem to have a personality of your typical parent i would say he had the values of the average parent of not letting Aya give her mobile number to Haruto

and his reaction to not having to rely on the government to get subsidies.
Mizuno
His acting was so so, maybe it was because of his position, he's dealt with this before so he knows what's coming and although he cares he still seems distant and keeping that doctor - patient barrier. But i guess at the end of the day they are. So his emotions and reactions were a bit bland compared to the other stuff that was going around him.
Supporting
They did their piece Haruto's parents were ok. But i think Haruto's dad could have been slightly better. Aya's friends were good esp the one with glasses (sorry i don't know her name

) how she kinda broke down when talking about finding Aya a burden.
PlotsI like the situations they touched upon. How they faced prejudice among the society, being a burden among their friends although in a hopeful view only temporary but we can see how after a while it's starting to effect those around her leading to decisions that Aya and her family have to make, accepting how it is? or continuously finding other ways to live on "normally"? Not being able to do what you want, not even the most basic of things we take for granted, but the worst thing is it's not being taken away at once, it happens gradually which i think is more of a torture, for example the ability to write slowly deteriorating.
EndingAlthough it's not as bad some TVB series i've seen, it's still not as polished as i hoped. Haruto didn't turn up for the anniversary of Aya's death, which was dissapointing considering what they went through together, we didn't know what happened or the future of everyone else (even if they aren't the main casts i think they were significant enough to get a proper ending). Seemed slightly rushed but not as rushed as some TVB series but maybe it's because we knew Aya would eventually pass away we just needed to know when. I've read that some people wisheed Aya had a happy ending, but i think that'll be unfair to the memory of the true story on which it was based upon. Also it's not very realistic if Aya miraculously survives and the impact would not have been so great if Aya was still alive, plus it was a good closure to the drama.
Final thoughtsLike i said if all J drama's were as good as this then i'm sticking with J dramas. You will like this drama if you like touchy/feely/sad/appreciate what we have kind of things, because trust me this drama really send those messages out thick and hard.
However, if you're a bunch of un appreciative and un sympathetic and don't like those "artsy" kind of films then avoid this. I should know i live with a bunch of them. I was telling my mum the plot line and she walked past asking "she dead yet?" .......... /me "........soon mum don't worry

" They never appreciate emotional stuff and anything beyond what they can see. =_=

Ok, after that little essay, i'm in my fan girl mode, Haruto (Ryo) is pretty hot

at first he wasn't that appealing but then later he got more cuter and sweeter with his hidden emotions.

Plus that Mizuno doctor was pretty hot too

looks a little old but hey he's still good looking.

Anyone know his name?
