i am such a bloody fan of this drama, i just finished watching it and i cried so much! this drama, is probably the best i have seen in a LONG time and it was based on a true story!
very touching, the only bad thing was that i skipped episode 9 and 10 because it didn't load...but i will definatly try it again! i love this...and the main actor and actress in it make such a cute couple!
very handsome and pretty in real life as well!!!
Episode 9 and 10 are the best episodes! Episode 9 is very sweet..
Asou finally admits his feelings towards Aya
And episode 10 is just.. too sad for words.. I think episode 10 is one of the saddest episode which makes me cry like hell.. You should really really see it

After learning more about Erika Sawajiri, I have to say she is a goddamn fantastic actress. She is so sweet and pure in this series...so I was surprised to hear she has a really bad reputation in Japan! Apparently, she's very difficult to work with and such and there's all sorts of stories about her smoking/drinking underage.
But she plays Aya to perfection. Incredible actress. Want to see more of her in dramas...although I hear that casting agents are less likely to cast her now because of her attitude problems. Too bad. Come on, Erika! You're gorgeous and talented; don't let your attitude get in the way of that.

I have a western friend who is watching this series. She was curious why my Indonesian friend and I were so addicted about this series. First, I thought she was just joking, but then it turned out that she was very serious. But I'm really doubting whether she would like it or cry, cause this is her first ''asian'' thing, so maybe she doesn't understand the asian traditionals or maybe she will think it's too draggy or too dramatic cause western things are always comedy and funny. She is watching the hardsubbed one, but her english is not very good.. so I'm afraid that she won't understand it.. but I'm still happy she is giving it a try. Everyone should try OLOT ^^

This dorama has special place in my heart, I can't compare it to any other one, cause it's something more than just tv show to watch and forget after watching. I cried on this for the first time after ten years, of course including only watching tv shows. Its really fantastic, great play by main characters, especially Erika, and Nishikado Ryo. I won't forget about Aya, and her touching quotes, I think that, maybe this dorama changed me a little, but in a better way for sure:) My biggest dream, except going to Japan is to meet with Erika and Ryou personally, and to say "arigato" to them:)

Just the best drama I have ever seen, I recommend it to everybody, who wanna see something, you won't just so easily forget!!! No episode was boring, you will be entertained in every minute - 0% of boredom! I cried from episode 3 upwards! Because it's based on a true story, it makes you cry more....such a sad drama, the saddest I ever seen. T_T There are such many situations, where your tears just rolling down your face without you knowing it! I had a really good time on this drama, just my favourite! It's such sugoiiiiiii! I love it! I definitely would watch it again! Perphaps more than one time XD...

hiyoo, thanks for sharing your story with us. Although I dont know you, but want to say Keep fighting to your father and your family members.
I really had no idea about this disease until I watch this drama. And although they might not have portrayed 100% as it is, but I loved it for it seems real. I cannot relate much to it, but after watching I think I can sympathize and put myself into the position of those who went through what the characters went through in the series.
I really like this drama. Not only it features one of my fav people, but the lessons and the story it tells is beautiful although it's sad and ultimately a tearjerker. It's one of those series which will leave a very deep impression into you... not only because it's sad, but because it tells of a life story.

Sorry to sound like a broken record, but could someone upload:
K - Only Human
Remioromen - Konayuki
Remioromen - 3gatsu 9ka (March 9th)
Any other versions of 3gatsu 9ka from the drama, like Haruto and the class (dunno how many different versions there are)
Any sheet music of these songs (original please!)
Much appreciated!
Also, does anyone know when Kioku Konseki is going to be done English subbing the special, if they are going to at all? It's been over a month since the special was released in Japan. Maybe they need it to be released on DVD first? The anticipation hurts so much!

It's a real-life story. This disease really did happen to someone.
This movie shows us the struggle a person has to go through just a make it through to survive.
Despite the odds, I'm sure this girl has lived her life to the fullest.

This is indeed the most touching and sad drama I have seen ever especially when I knew that this was actually based on a true story!
Apart from being eye-candy, both Ryo and Erika definetly shared a undeniable chemistry! Erika protrayed the character Aya so well and Ryo made Auso, a friction character, came alive!!! Aso, not to mention other artistes who starred in this drama did extremly well too!!! I didn't cried a litre of tears but I did cried a few times at some depressing yet touching scenes!

Rika is so cute that makes me wanna pinch her chubby face!

I heard today is 18th anniversary of Aya Kito's death. May she rest in peace and her diary had definetly inspire people to move on and to live life to its full-est!!

watched it online once..bought the vcd and am watching it for a second time...and crying just as much.. this was the first drama that had me crying from the 1st episode to the last...heartwrenching..was watching it on my com the first time and cried buckets..and it wasn't the "running tears" kinda crying..but the "sobbing with hiccups" kinda crying..
we may run into troubles now and then...things may not go our way, we may fall down...
but looking up into the sky above, we realise how insignificant our troubles are, how tiny we are compared the the endless blue of the skies above

I've been hearing about this drama before but I only got to watch it a few days ago...and wow, it did not disappoint. I like it bec even though it has a really serious and heavy plot, it was not treated with hysterics and exaggerated melodrama. It's even inspiring, which is not something we can say about a lot of dramas today.

I loved this drama! The fact that it was based on a real story just made it more absorbing and interesting. A lot better than those empty idol shows out there. I cried so much from the first episode. It was so sad. My parents prob thought I was being bullied at school, I would just go in my room and watch it and cry my eyes out.

Anybody know where I can watch the 1 Litre of Tears Special with english subs or download it?
It's been 2 months so I'm hoping it's been subbed.
Even though it's been so long since I first watched 1LOT I still want to cry when I hear Konayuki on my iTunes. Even though I love the song I sometimes skip over it to avoid getting hysterical XD.

Hi... this drama was the first drama that I watched after a long break from Japanese drama... and I was blown away.... esp by the song Konayuki... I really like the song and it made me like Asou character (Ryo-chan) even more... coz it will always play in the background each time that Asou would appear in the drama... God he is so damn hot... especially when he smiles.. feel like rain would stop and flowers starts to bloom all around...
As for the story... its a very good and inspiring as it show Aya's bravery and appreciation for all the people around her... fav moment is when her youngest sis asked her as to why she is walking like a penguin... she claimed that isnt it cute to walk like a penguin? plainfully surprised was that her reply was unexpected and so pleasant... I could not come out with a reply like that...
For me its a brilliant drama.. to show us that we should appreciate life more... in Aya's case she knew her time was up n that is why she didn't want to waste her time and love ... but for us, we should cherish life even more coz we would never know when our time is up... mybe today...tomorrow... who knows...

This is the second J-drama I had watched (after Hana Yori Dango) and I was truly touched by the storyline! Both leads have good chemistry that does not need to convey and kissing or hugging to show their true affection for each other. I cried every episode each time there was a barrier (related to her illness) in functioning with everyday life. She's one tough cookie! And great music, especially "Konayuki" and "Human." And last but not least - GREAT ACTING!!! My all time fav J-DRAMA!!!!!

For the people that haven't seen this, if you're a softy (haha) Keep a tissue box beside you cause you'll probably cry One or more Litres of Tears haha. The music for this drama is really good. I have the soundtrack downloaded xP
Anyways, this is very much worth watching and it makes you think about the world, yourself, and the people around you.
