Sharon Chan is Perplexed by Crying Princess
Tracy Ip and Sharon Chan took part in a My Little Pony Princess Contest yesterday and Sharon was the MC, whilst Tracy was the judge. There were a lot of little princesses taking part, but some of the children were so frightened when they got onto the stage that they started crying, leaving Sharon rather flustered.

This was the first time as a judge for Tracy and when she was younger, she loved cartoon characters and she was presented with a My Little Pony by the organisers, making her very happy. Her favourite character is Stitch. Asked if she entered competitions like this as a child, she smiles that she did not because she was very shy, but she did dress up as a princess and Miss Hong Kong. As a judge, she felt the most important was a pretty face and some attractive accessories. Will she let her daughter take part in these events in the future? She says that these events allow them to socialise, so she would definitely take part. She has always loved children and feels that they are an unmissable part of life, so she hopes to complete this plan after she is 30. At the moment, her work comes first.

Faced with a child suddenly bursting into tears, Sharon did not know how to respond, but when the second one cried, she had learned to go and give her a hug. She says that she does not know how to deal with or look after children, but she does like them. When she was young, she took part in a lot of dancing and singing contests and she revealed that she will hold 70's and 80's retro parties. She smiles that last year she had a uniform party and this year it will be a retro theme.

Sharon Chan Shares her Birthday with her Fans
January 17th was Sharon Chan's birthday and as she had to film for "Welcome to the House" on that day, she celebrated earlier with her fans at a Tsimshatsui cafe.

She says: "After I finished work, I went out to celebrate with some friends from within and outside the industry. Because of this, I took some time out beforehand to go out with my fans." On the day of the party, as well as Hong Kong fans, there were also some fans who had flown in especially from Shanghai and Korea and this made her very happy, especially as the Shanghai fans had brought some of their local delicacies for her. They also played back some messages from other overseas fans who could not make it and she was very touched. The fans presented her with her beloved Winnie the Pooh toy, but she says that she has a lot of them at home already and she is just happy that they were there to celebrate with her and should not have spent so much money. Asked what her birthday wish was, she said: "Good health, of course I hope my career will get better and better and have lots of opportunities in different fields and to play some even better roles."

There have been reports earlier that Sharon has been spotted having dinner with a man, but she says that he is just a freinds and she is quite tomboyish, so she has a lot of male friends. She is currently concentrating on her career and will leave romance down to destiny.

Raymond Lam, Bernice, Yoyo, & Sharon Meet for New Year's Eve Dinner
The year of the fire pig is just a few days away! Approaching the Lunar New Year holiday, Raymond Lam, Bernice Liu, Yoyo Mung and Sharon Chan Man Chi had New Year's Eve dinner together for the first time.

Raymond, Bernice, Yoyo, and Sharon belong to the same manager, thus they get along like brother and sisters. It was a rare opportunity to gather together due to everyone's busy work schedules. Raymond is currently busy filming "The Drive of Life," while Bernice is filming "The Entire City Dances." Yoyo just completed "Trouble Daddy" and Sharon will be heading to Zhongsan to film "Welcome to the House."

Yoyo signed the same manager only recently and was the newcomer in the group, but she gets along well with Bernice and Sharon. Despite being the youngest in the group, Raymond is the only man and must bear the responsibility of looking after the 3 ladies. Bernice, Yoyo, and Sharon will play tricks on Raymond once in awhile.

Despite the cut-throat competition in the entertainment industry, when the 4 artists gather together, they will forget their place and enjoy each other's company.

Raymond said, "I'm happy to be having New Year's Eve dinner with everyone. Normally everyone is busy and even when we see each other at the studio, we can only say hello and then rush quickly to filming."

Being the most westernized, Bernice said that she had ready-to-cook pot dishes in the past. "When I was filming 'Virtues of Harmony,' we had a New Year's Eve dinner together with the cast. The feeling was very warm. A New Year's Eve dinner carries special significance in Chinese culture. Since my family is spread across 3 different countries, it is extremely difficult to gather together for New Year's Eve."

Both Yoyo and Bernice love to eat egg with pan fried New Year cake (年糕). When Yoyo saw the cake, she quickly scooped it up, just like a young child.

For their dinner, they chose a restaurant which served trendy pot dishes. Raymond ordered his favorite seafood pot, while the ladies ordered vegetarian pot dishes in order to stay slim.

Raymond tried traditional pot dishes before. Despite their delicious ingredients, they tend to be oily. However seafood was his favorite. He was excited when he saw the sea cucumbers, abalone, lobster, and scallops in the pot dish. He intended to purchase an additional pot dish to-go so that his family can try it out later.

Facing the delectable food, the four of them revealed their mischievous side. Despite her cool exterior, Yoyo was especially playful and pretended she got hurt when reaching for the lobster. Bernice and Sharon teased Raymond, but he did not counter back.

Dinner was filled with non-stop laughter and in the end, the 3 ladies all picked up food and offered it to Raymond.

I really like Sharon after Devil Discipline. She's really pretty and I think her acting has improved a lot. Too bad that TVB doesn't promote her but instead kept using the same actresses over again!!! Other than Welcome to the House, will she be working on any other project? It's sad that she only has so few series to do....

'Welcome to the House' Cast Celebrate Lantern Festival
On the Chinese Lantern Festival yesterday, the cast from TVB's sitcom "Welcome to the House" including Christine Ng, Sharon Chan, Kingdom Yuen, Shermon Tang and Raymond Cho took part in a promotional event at a Tseung Kwan O shopping mall, where they guessed lantern riddles, designed cakes and played games with members of the audience in a fun and lively atmosphere.

During an interview, Christine spotted her uncle and his family in the audience and was so happy that she shouted out to them and invited them in backstage. HOwever, her uncle was not prepared to be photographed and when the reporters raised their cameras, he put his hand up to cover his face. Christine explained: "In Hong Kong, my closest relative is this uncle, but I have not seen him for a year and did not visit him at the new year, so I will go and make it up to him soon."

Asked if she will be celebrating the lantern festival, Christine admitted that she did not even realise the festival until the reporters mentioned it to her and she said with surprise: "I did not know it was the lantern festival. I have to work tonight and my husband will be going to see a concert and celebrating with an African musician!" As Christine will be taking part in the new series "Destiny Comes from Chance", she has only been able to celebrate her birthday and go visiting on the third day of the new year as she has not had time for anything else. She also reveals that for this new series, she has had a head of thick hair extensions put in and has received good compliments from both men and women, who says she is very attractive. This is her peak since joining TVB. Asked if she is planning to grow her hair long after this, she says she has no plans to because hair extensions are so convenient now. Also, "Welcome to the House" will be ending this Saturday and Christine says that she will be joining the other cast members at Shermon's house to watch the finale.

Sharon joined Lai Lok Yi and Chan Shan Chung for a performance in Toronto earlier, so she was very tired at yesterday's event due to jetlag. When they returned, their plane was delayed due to strong winds and snow by four or five hours, but fortunately it took off smoothly. Sharon was very scared for their safety though, so she was praying constantly.

Although it was only one show, the audience reaction was great and they were singing the retro songs from the series "Glittering Days" wearing their costumes. Most of the audience were ladies, so they were very absorbed and handed out lucky packets. Sharon says happily: "Although the value was not very high, we received a lot and the fee was okay as well, so we immediately opened them up and went shopping."

As for the lantern festival, how will she be celebrating? Sharon says calmly: "I will be having dinner at home. (Taking your boyfriend home to meet your family?) No, just on my own. (Did you not have a boyfriend earlier?) I am not commenting on my relationships, I will be eating along and then I have not arranged anything else because I am very tired. (Did you celebrate for Valentines Day?) I was working with the cast of 'Welcome to the House' in Zhongshan on that day, so I celebrated with my colleagues."

Sharon Chan - The Shorts of Growing Up
When Gigi Leung split up with Ekin Cheng, she used the song 'The Short Hair of Growing Up' to symbolise her transition into maturity using her icon of her short hair.

From another perspective, it is similar to the short trousers that have accompanied Sharon Chan on her road to adulthood.

When arranging to meet Sharon for an interview and thinking where to hold the shoot, the first suggestion my colleague gave me was: "You don't need to think, just find the shortest pair of pants you can get and just photograph her long legs!"

Such a direct response reflects on Sharon's trademark 43 inch legs. Nothing else seems to matter.

Even the PR from the costume sponsors commented: "You have chosen some very long shorts!"

'Long shorts!' - I am done for!

After much contemplation, the long shorts were maintained and handed to Sharon, because I do not wish for the focus to be placed solely on her legs.



Three years ago, when I met Sharon for an interview, I borrowed some super short hot pants for her and she wore them without a word of complaint.

Three years later as I interview her again, she is still willing to put on the shorts again without a word, but there is now a hint of questioning in her eyes. Although it was over very quickly, even I noticed it and I am usually oblivious to these things.

"I know a lot of people just pay attention to my legs, but I do wish for people to notice my other parts. I don't want to be 38 in ten years time and still be remembered only for having long legs."

Truly, as you grow up, then of course you do not want everyone's focus to be solely on the stage of your life when you just flashed your bust and revealed your thighs.

As a student of Komuro Tetsuya, Sharon had five other 'student sisters', but after they each went their different ways, they have lost touch now, just seeing each other online once in a while.

Filming in a sitcom is a great job for any artiste because the filming schedules are stable and it is easy to increase your airtime and increase your income. Your image is easily accepted and so you reap the benefits three ways. In the example of Sharon, how many people will still remember what her character's name was in "Dream of Colours"? However, most people will remember her for her role of 'man-eater So Fa' in "Welcome to the House". With the conclusion of "Welcome", then 'So Fa' will also become part of history now and this also indicates that Sharon will be entering a new era too.

Sharon says that she has never been choosy about her roles, whether it is a lead role or a cameo lasting two or three days, she is still as welcoming because she feels that no matter what her role is, she will have an opportunity to shine. The only difference is how much you can gain from it.

"Many people say I am docile and obedient, but it is just that I do not have much ambition. If you ask me to be a lead or a cameo, I will be just as happy because what I need most at the moment is experience. After entering the industry as a part-time model, then being selected as a student of the Japanese musician Komuro Tetsuya and undergoing training in Japan, this made Sharon the envy of many. However, the dreams of being a pop star did not materialise and Sharon was then signed by Raymond Wong to make films. During a slump in the movie industry, Sharon found her opportunities after signing for TVB. In 2004, she was finally recognised in her role in "Dream of Colours" and was picked out by TVB executive Virginia Lok as a potential star and 'daughter of TVB'. Although she has found her fame in television, for Sharon, singing is still her true passion.

"I am very lucky in that I have worked in music, movies and television. At this moment, I do like filming for TV, because it is very challenging and satisfying. Today I can be a very girly girl, then the next I can be a strong businesswoman. It is great satisfaction, but I do truly love singing and if I could choose, the would still like to be a singer."


Sharon in the past was more playful in front of the camera, but now she has matured and become more sophisticated

Counting back including her modelling days, Sharon has been in showbiz now for 13 years and since her modelling days, her 43 inch legs have been her trademark. Long trousers and skirts have not been her scene as the super mini hotpants and skirts are selected for her. Although it is losing some of its appeal after ten years, at least it has become her icon.

The first time I met Sharon was in 2000, when she was still a student of Tetsuya. She was just 21 years old at the time and was very obstinate young girl who wanted to try everything. Before going on set, she would be chatting away with everyone. After seven years of just brushing past her or meeting up for interviews, I have found that she has changed each time and she is no longer jumping around or someone who is happily chattering away all the time.

"Even you have noticed, I don't know why myself though. I am not unhappy, in fact I feel happier than I used to be, but I don't like to talk as much now and I will not talk endlessly like I used to. When my father passed away in 2003, I found that I began to change. I used to like going out to play all the time in the past, going to karaoke through the night. Now you will rarely catch me going out partying late, unless it is a friend's birthday or my own birthday or a party that I have to attend. I will pop in and sho my face, but I would rather stay at home and read or watch a video."


TVB has brought Sharon plenty of fans and each time she appears at events, they will be there to support her, touching her greatly.

Since she became a model at the tender age of 15, Sharon has always made her own money and has never asked her family for spending money. As a result, even after the stock market crash of 1997 or the death of her father in 2003, she has always faced her problems independently. "I am quite like my father, no matter how hard things are, I will still seem to be very calm. At the time the pressure was very great, so much that I would hide away in my room and cry, but what can that achieve? After crying, I still have to come out and keep on making money."


Sharon's true love is still for singing, so having the opportunity to sing for TVB's "Lady in Red" album helped realise her ambitions once again.

Showbusiness is a very cynical industry, when you are famous, the world is at your beck and call, so for Sharon as the student of Tetsuya, she had a team of assistants, make-up artistes, wardrobe mistresses and even an interpreter following her around and the press were crawling all over her. After joining TVB as a regular artiste, she found herself alone and the reporters did not even greet her when they saw her and she saw how realistic life can be when you are down.

When Sharon first joined TVB, she was a host on the magazine programme "i-files" and although it wasn't quite falling from heaven into hell, her popularity was not as great as before and even though she took on many supporting roles and even an leading role in "Dreams", the press still referred to her as a second-class artiste. However, Sharon did not mind at all.

"I really did not mind. I was actually thankful to be classed at all by people. Many friends say I am not ambitious and I admit that. I also know that I am not good enough yet, so if you forcefully push me upwards, I will be even more sacred. The higher I go, the harder you fall. Even children understand this principle."


In 2004, Sharon was photographed leaving Kevin Cheng's home after spending the night there, but they denied any relationship. With Kevin now being linked with Niki Chow, this story has become history.

In her many years in the industry, Sharon has met with much gossip, including links with Kevin Cheng, Raymond Lam, Timmy Hung and her only open relationship with Matt Yeung. In response to these affairs, Sharon's attitude has also changed. In the past she did not mind revealing her relationships, but now she does not respond, saying frankly that this is all thanks to the media.

For Sharon who rarely smiles in general, when it comes to gossip, she is even less smiley. She says that if the rumours were true, then she does not mind so much, but over the years, not one has been true, but it is reducing the number of friends she now has.

"To be honest, I really don't have any male friends any more. One male friend from outside the industry that I have known for ten years called me once to invite me for dinner and to catch up. I accepted straight away, but then he did not call me back because he was afraid of being photographed by the press and then what they would write. In the end I did not want to affect him and his relationship with his girlfriend, so I did not even meet him once."

Having once revealed her romance and her love affair with someone within the industry, Sharon says frankly that her outlook on love has not changed much, but what has changed is the way she expresses her feelings. "I don't think I will date anyone from within the industry again, because I have tried it and there is no sense of security. As soon as you are spotted, whether you are holding hands or not, you will be written about and you cannot get away from it. Also the temptation from showbiz is greater, so you will worry about whether he will be able to detach himself from his role when he is working opposite other women and fall for them instead. At least with someone from outside the industry, then it is not so easy for you to spot and you can sneak away more easily. There is less temptation from outside and it is more regular, giving me greater peace of mind."

"I will not reveal my romances any more. Whenever I am spotted, then you will ask me for a comment. At first I did reply, but then what? You don't believe me and keep asking, so why do I bother responding? Although my gossip is nothing too negative, it is very tiresome and so I have decided not to respond and just let you write whatever you want. I know what the reality is and I believe that as long as I continue not to respond, then the press will soon lose interest in writing about me and I can breathe a sigh of relief."



Changes

In the past, Sharon was either continuously talking or continuously laughing. She would answer whatever you asked her and ask you questions back. During this interview though, she has noticeably become less talkative and as she waited for the shoot, she just played with her phone on her own, leading to the photographer asking me if I had upset her.

I had also wondered the same thing, but fortunately Sharon explained herself during the interview: "I have already become smarter now, when I meet the press, then no matter how unhappy I am, I will pretend to be happy to avoid people saying I am being arrogant and miserable. I will only be myself in front of people that I know quite well."

Sharon Chan Prepares Dishes With Ease
Sharon Chan Man Chi appeared on Chef Chow's culinary program, "Star Class Kitchen" and under his direction, prepared a stir-fried fish with egg dish in 3 minutes. Sharon handled the preparation with ease and noted that she often cooks at home. Although common dishes do not pose as a challenge, Sharon admitted that elaborate dishes for a big crowd would be more difficult.

Bosco Causes Embarrassment for Sharon at "Devil's Disciple" Promotion

TVB Series "Devil's Disciple" held a promotional event at a swimming pool yesterday, but the girls were all well covered in t-shirts, losing some of its appeal factor. However, Sharon Chan caused a few stirs when she was pushed straight onto Wong Chun Tong's face!

Many of TVB's female stars have been doing bikini shows of late, but at the promotion yesterday, TVB decided to save their sexiness for a paying customer and instructed everyone to wear the promotional t-shirts. Bernice Liu, Shirley Yeung and Sharon had their swimsuits covered by their t-shirts most of the time and Shirley only appeared briefly in her swimsuit when she forgot to put her t-shirt on at the beginning.

Shirley and Bernice decided to stay on the poolside, saying that they could not swim and Shirley says: "They told us to wear the t-shirts, but it is all to promote the series." Although Sharon's bikini was of no use, she still put her all into the games in the water, but thanks to a push from Bosco Wong, she lost her balance and ended up sitting on Wong Chun Tong's face. She says: "I have to apologise to Brother Tong because he won't be able to gamble for a week after I have sat on him for so long!" "Devil's Disciple" Stars to Wear Borat's Swimsuit???
TVB series "Devil's Disciple" held a promotional event yesterday at Olympian City, attended by many of the cast members, including Kevin Cheng, Bosco Wong, Shirley Yeung, Bernice Liu and Sharon Chan, attracting nearly 500 people to watch them. During the event, they did pull-ups on a bar as well as standing on eggs. Shirley did surprisingly well, even beating some of the men.

When Bosco and Kevin battled on the horizontal bar, they held on for dear life, but Bosco succumbed to having the feather duster on his back and failed. For the turn of the ladies, Shirley bundled onto the frame like a monkey and jumped off equally easily, whereas Sharon had to seek help from the men to support her. Sharon did not do too well with the eggs either, breaking a few and leaving her with sticky feet.

The girls then pledged to wear bikinis if the show's ratings reached 38 points, except for Bernice who has contractual agreements with her slimming company. "There is nothing new in me wearing a bikini and my agreement with the sponsor is I cannot do it. However, it would be good if Kevin and Bosco could wear the little triangular swimsuits like Borat. If they will do it, I will fly to London to buy them some!"

When Kevin realised what Bernice meant by 'Borat' trunks, he said: "If she really does fly to London to buy them, then I will wear them, but only at home, I have to keep some mystery for my other half! I am quite conservative and don't even own any T-backs [G-strings]. They are very uncomfortable, but okay for a bit of fun. Of course, I will only share this fun with my most intimate other half and not them!" Bosco suggests that he and Kevin should wear bikinis and the ladies can all wear T-backs. Bosco was spotted with what seemed like a love bite behind his right ear and asked about this, he laughed: "Why would a love bite be there? It is just a rash brought on by the hot weather."

The actress disclosed that after eating sashimi at Wan Chai, she was hit with gastro because the fish may not have been fresh enough. Although she was not fully recovered, Sharon could not resist the temptation and so, she took some medication beforehand in hope nothing would happen if she ate. Sharon Chan Man Chi, Suki Chui Suk Man, and several other models appeared at EMax's swimsuit fashion show. The women wore bikinis and attracted several hundred audience members!

The fashion show opened with a model who accidentally exposed her nipple. The model list originally included Lee Yee Lam. Since she was not feeling well, Sharon substituted instead. While wearing a white bikini, Sharon allegedly revealed her pubic hair. But Sharon claimed it was impossible, as she had removed all her pubic hair prior to the show!

She appears less than other cast, but I really like her in there since her performance was quite natural and funny at time w/ her interactions w/ other cast. Along with their new dancing television drama ‘Steps’ (舞動全城), TVB has collaborated with Hunan TV to produce a dance competition reality show ‘Wu Dong Qi Ji’ (舞動奇跡). Representing TVB in this competition are 5 female and 5 male artists, they are Joe Ma, Sonijia Kwok, Shirley Yeung, Sharon Chan, Mandy Cho, Janet Chow, Stephen Wong, Michael Tse and Ka-Lok Ng. In order to win the competition, the stars are giving it everything they’ve got, with the female celebrities dressed in revealing clothes on stage.

‘Wu Dong Qi Ji’ is based on an elimination process that oversees competitors tackling difficult dance skills. Sharon Chan Awards herself with Diamond Jewellery

Sharon Chan and top model, Eunis Chan, made an appearance on Tuesday night’s jewellery award ceremony at Wan Chai. Sharon admitted to caring about her looks and so, whenever she sees jewellery, she is happy. Lately, Sharon Chen is working in New York. She would go out onto the streets to do some sightseeing. She is most fascinated by the different styles of advertisements on the street. One of her favorite advertisement was a painting. It was unique because it makes you think you are in an art gallery. The advertisement was a visual feast for Sharon but she also had a food feast! There were different snacks and food eatery below the advertisement. Sharon coincidently found her favorite “butterfly buns” (蝴蝶包). She said: “Usually, these buns are only available in Canada. Since I found these in the US, I need to buy my fill to try it out. When I eat it, it tastes as good as the one in Canada.”

Yesterday Sonjia Kwok and Sharon Chan were filming on the beds at a bedding store for new series "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly" 《新網中人》 (The remake). TVB new series “美麗高解像” had an costume fitting yesterday. The cast included Kate Tsui, Sharon Chan and Christine Ng etc. In this series Kate Tsui will play an character that has an ambition to get into the entertainment circle. After many years of hard work she finally succeeds to become the queen of television.

Sharon Chan will play a villainess role and will be an drug addict with Stephen Huynh. Sharon states that she finds playing a drug addict quite exciting. She feels the role is very challenging. In the series Sharon was originally the Top TV Fa Dan, however her status was taken away by Kate Tsui. Therefore she secretly creates evil plots to ruin Kate’s life. But due to things not going her way she starts to take drugs and eventually becomes a drug addict. Sharon had been watching several movies involving drug addicts to take note of their acting. (Asked whether she would take drugs for real so she knows how it feels, for a better understanding on how to act the role?) Sharon says she will definitely not try any drugs and Television has it’s limits and criteria. But movies are different and people can attempt to do anything “In real life I will not take drugs but playing an character is different. It’s exciting and challenging at the same time. I won’t be affected by it because it’s not real”. Sharon expresses she had always wanted to play an evil role. She claims that the audience are clever enough to know she is just acting.

Kate’s character is very weak and will often be bullied and teased. But she claims that she is very lucky as she had never had that kind of experience when she entered the industry. (Asked whether she would like to become the Television Queen?.) She stats that she would like to but it all depends on hard work and commitment. Sharon Chan wearing Beijing Opera Costume, gets a Headache

Yesterday Sharon Chan and Rosemary attended "APM Third Anniversary City Carnival" 「apm三周年全城狂歡」. The two of them wore Chinese costumes together, wearing the Beijing Chinese Opera styled costumes. Sharon said that the costume was nearly 10 pounds, the head pieces were so heavy that she had a headache. But, she felt that the hard work is worth it because the costume was very pretty, causing her to want to learn Beijing Opera. The two of them learned how to make "Pulled Noodles" [Lai-Mein]. But, their performance was really "chicken hand, duck feet" [chinese expression meaning, unprofessional], during the time they were making it Sharon caused the noodles to tear apart and fell on the floor, leaving them very helpless.

Cooking Skills Not Bad
But, she insists that she has pretty good cooking skills, usually she would go to the supermarket to get groceries to cook. She says that there isn't deals every time she goes to the street markets, sometimes there aren't cheap and nice veggies, and she does not bargain. So, sometimes her mom would go with her to buy groceries. Has she cooked for her mom and boyfriend? She smiles and said that she did not do any special cooking for her boyfriend, but in the past her ex-boyfriend has tried her cooking and praised her. She smiles: "If don't praise me, then wanna die?" As for her speciality dish, it would be oyster sauce chicken wings, chicken with balsam pear, and fish maw-abalone chicken soup.
