i guess everyone has a favourite actor whether its raymond lam, ron ng, tavia yeung, louis koo.....etc

but does any1 here have a favourite old actor? and when i say old i mean at least 45+.

mine would be 'paul chun pui' the guy from 'love bond' or 'life made simple' were he plays bosco and roger's dad.
i think his acting is just very good, especially his funny characters, but his character in 'at the treshold of an era' was unforgetable too.
he is truly the best oldschool actor for me. clapping.gif
soly_sm
I like Sek Sau. Like him in WOIL, TITS, and TGUT
Yunsias ♥

I have a lot of name is poping up for Older Generation VETERAN:

I don't know their name so I'll go with serie they have acted to signify them

In Lost in Love ( Marianne Chan, Jackie Lui, Christine Ng ), there has used a lot of old school actors/actresses.

I like the man acting as "UNCLE LO" and his wife. Thoses two peoples has starred in various old serie and they are are absolutely charming on screen.

"UnCLE LO" also acted in Cold Blood Warm Heart being the higher man of the group ( and older. He acted Adam dad if I'm not mistaking )

"his wife" is a rally cute actress. Eventho her age, she has a strong charisma onscreen. I just like that grandma. She also was the woman who can't keep on complaining about the service in Triumph in the Skies 1.

Also in Lost in love, the man whose has acted as Marianne's father. He was also in My Family. I guess he is the "Paul" you guys keep on talking about. Did he just received an award. Good for him. He's very good actor too. Totally deserves it.

Another woman is mommy of marianne, we can see her in basically all series. She was FeiHuen teacher in TOB, Ron's mama in TITS, Tavia mother in Shade of Thruth , ....

In Reaching Out, I like Sammul 2nd mommy, Kenix mama and dad. I liked them as a star not their character itself ...

by the way: I don't think SekSau a very good actor. I don't know. He might be not too bad looking but acting ... ummm happy.gif' I might be the only one to think like that ... tongue.gif i.e. in Golden Faith and TITS, I didn't enjoy his acting, ...
QuackieChau
My favourites are the brothers Paul Chun and John Chiang. Maybe it's something in the genes. tongue.gif

Richard Ng rocks for me. an excellent actor and a superb comedian.

Is that Ng Man Tat? Yeh he's one of the few who can play good/evil serious/downright-retarded extremely well. Awesom actor.

Kwan Hoi San, he always portraits the head of the family in a very realistic way. Too bad he's not in TVB series anymore, in my opinion, no one has managed to interpret the 'grandpa' roles as well as him.

Another guy is the one that played Leon Lai's father in Breaking Point, don't remember his name, but he can carry out many different roles, all in a satisfying way.
dreams29
Paul and Ha Yu. They both do such a great job with any characters they are given. Paul looks like he would be the best grandfather to have. Always so caring and gentle to his family members in series. and Ha Yu looks like a great uncle to have around for a good laugh.

some of the old ladies are pretty good too but i have no idea what their name is.
suweijun
yeah i really like paul chun's acting. He was great in Love Bond, Family Man, Life Made Simple, and many more. I always look forward to series with paul in it.
NetDragonC
The first series I saw Paul Chun in was ATV's Who's The Winner, so my first impression of him was a villain hehe. This image is always stuck in my head. Maybe that's why I always thought he looked kind of weird playing a good guy or a kind grandpa.
SummerFrosts
I like Lok Ying Kwan, for those who don't know him he was homer in Survivor's Law and Bernice's dad in Into Thin Air, his one of those guys that can be down-right evil and the nicest guy in the world at the same time, definately awesome actor !!

Battalion
yea bernice's dad in Into thin air is really good, i also like the uncle in that hotel series , Revolving doors of vengencies or w/e.
kwong
I like the lady who played Bernice's real mom in "Into Thin Air" (Mi Suet).

I also like Michael Miu, and also the (really fat) guy that adopted the 9th brother in "10 Brothers". I don't know his name bawling.gif

oh i like most of the older generation actors, i think the only ones i don't like is Ha Yu and Liza Wang, they annoy me whenever they're on screen.

another one that no one mentioned is Tan Han, he was in alot of the taiwanese romance ones back then. he came out again to do two films for atv, cash is king and venture against time. i thought he was superb.

and ofcourse Michelle Yim (mai suet)

heres a pic of the two. i like them cos they can paly all different types of role very convincing.

Yea, that's right. Mr Ng has a very unique talent in acting comedy. He can truly make viewers laugh a lot by his natural, hilarious an special skills of performance.

Especially, I like his cooperation in acting with Stephen Chow so much. They're the best pair in movie I have ever seen.

Being a long time TVB series watcher (like from the 80's until now), I definitely agree with the majority of what you said. Though I like to watch TVB series, I actually disagree with TVB's politics and way of managing their business...in my opinion, the reason why the series (especially from the 80's and 90's) are so good is because of the actors / actresses and the writers, NOT because of TVB (though TVB takes the credit because they have the rights to the series).

I think I may have posted this in a different forum already, but the primary reason why many of the series from the last several years (last 10-15 years) suck is because TVB's philosophy has changed greatly over the years. In the past, all the actors and actresses actually had to go through "acting" training and "graduate" from the course in order to even be considered for a lead or even supporting role in a series. That's why majority of the veterans from the 80's and 90's that we like so much know how to act. Nowadays, anyone off the street who wants to be in the industry can be put in a series (and maybe even take on a leading role) as long as they are "good-looking" or they know how to "kiss-up" to the higher ups...since these new generation actors don't have to work hard to earn their "lead roles" like the previous generation did, they do a lousy job and get away with it because all people care about is how they look...then they get all cocky and stuck up because they were in a series that happened to have good ratings and they feel they are "popular" now...of course, TVB starts promoting them (despite the fact that they can't act) and the cycle starts all over again....

And don't even get me started on the Miss HK and the "any actor can sing" stuff...I've posted my opinion about this in other forums as well....

I guess one conclusion I've come to after almost 20 years watching TVB series is that the people who run that place are not very smart...

I could go on even longer, but I guess I should stop for now...
