Ever since the split of South Korea's favorite dance group H.O.T. five years ago, member Jang Woo Hyuk is now working himself into the mainland markets. On April 1, he is ready to promote his first album, No More Drama. On Beijing's Sina website thousands voted on the 'Korea's Best Dancer' poll and Woo Hyuk acheived 6500 votes, currently on the king's throne that will really help his album promotion.

As with Rain, he received 4700 votes in second place and Dong Bang Shin Gi are in fifth. As with female singers, BoA got into the top ten and sexy Lee Hyori received 11th place.

Korean Singer Jang Woo-hyuk Acclaimed in China

Singer Jang Woo-hyuk has received an enthusiastic welcome from his Chinese fans during a seven-day and eight-night trip which began at Beijing International Airport on April 1.

It is the first time Jang is visiting China after going solo. His latest visit to the country was made three years ago when he was a member of the group "JTL." Jang began gaining popularity in China 10 years ago when he belonged to another group, "H.O.T."

In a recent poll conducted by China’s largest portal site Sina.com, Jang was named the most popular Korean singer in China and the most impressive Korean dancing singer, beating fellow Korean artist Rain.

Through a contract with a Chinese recording company, Jang released an album titled “No More Drama” in China. An official from the Chinese recording company said that with advance orders pouring in, 100,000 copies of the album have already been produced.

Immediately after arriving in China, Jang held a press conference at the 21st Century Theater in Beijing to which 200 Chinese fans were invited. An official fan club was also established there.

Jang held an online chatting session with Chinese fans through Sina.com Saturday night. So many fans logged onto the site simultaneously that the server went down. On April 2, the Korean singer performed in China’s largest musical event, the Pepsi Music Chart Awards, which was aired across the nation.

Jang will appear on CCTV4 and hold an autograph session on April 3. He will give a concert to commemorate the release of his album in China on April 4. He will next head for Shanghai on April 5 and move to Fuzhou on April 7.

At the April 1st press conference for Korean singer Jang Woo-hyuk held at the Beijing 21st Century Hotel in Beijing, Ryusuchi, CEO of Starwin Culture Communication Co., Ltd in China said, "I saw Jang in concert in Korea last year. I am confident that Jang’s album will be loved by fans in China even more than TVXQ’s album." Jang Woo-hyun, who already has a large number of fans in China for his previous performances as a member of H.O.T. and jtL, began his activities in China by releasing a solo album entitled "No More Drama" and holding a press conference on April 1st. Jang’s solo album prompted sales of 100-thousand copies including pre-sale orders upon release. The figure is higher than sales of TVXQ and Rain’s albums released in China. Mr. Ryusuchi said, "I am personally a fan of Jang Woo-hyuk. I remember the 10th anniversary of H.O.T. and once, I was among the crowd of fans who flocked to the airport to see Jang arrive. My company had released albums of TVXQ in 2004 and Rain’s in 2005, but the amount of first orders for Jang is greater than those of the two other Korean performers. I hope that Jang will work with us for more albums to come. I also hope that we can maintain a steady relationship for various activities in China including the release of DVDs."

Meanwhile, at the press conference, Jang Woo-hyuk showed his thoughts about doing business in China along with his performances. Jang, who had run a dance academy in Korea, said, "I wish to open up a dance academy in China. Although details haven’t been discussed with my partners, I am carefully looking into the possibility for my business in China."

Jang Woo-hyuck Tops Charts with Second Album

The second solo album from a former member of the disbanded five-man group H.O.T. conquered on- and offline music charts just a day after its release. Jang Woo-hyuck’s “My Way” on Wednesday took the top spot in the real-time record sale category of the Hanteo chart, which compiles offline sales of records. Its title song, “One Way,” also topped Bugs Music’s most popular song chart.

Jang’s feat is attracting attention because the country’s music charts have been dominated by top artists who have made recent comebacks, including Shin Seung-hun, Rain and TVXQ.

Jang once again showed off powerful rapping in the new dance hip-hop album, whose advance orders exceeded 30,000. Having made a successful solo debut last year, he put more energy and effort into recording the second album using his 10 years of experience as a singer.

“One Way” was composed by PJ and Min Woong-shik and written by Park Jang-geun, who all worked together to create the title song of the first album, “The Sun that Never Sets.” In addition, female rock/dance singer Esther was featured in the song.

Jang plans to film an innovative music video shown from the first-person perspective, which means although he does not appear in the video, viewers will feel like he is there.

Other musicians who helped Jang with the new album include Seo Jeong-hwan (a former member of Untitle), composer Jang Jun-ho, and singers Tak Jae-hoon, Jeong In, J, and Yuri, who were featured in the album.

Meail Jacquard Tex, Jang’s agency, said that because great interest is being shown from overseas as well, they expect high sales of the album.

when i first saw him in xman, i didn't know who he was since i never listened to any of the HOT songs. but i thought he was in SS501 or something then i realized that he wasn't lol. but anyyyyways i saw a clip of jang woo hyuk dancing to daft punk's harder, better, faster, strong in love letter and it just bleeeeeeew me away. *sighhhhhh* not to mention, he has good bone structure. XD
