I just started watching and noticed Shirley in a wheelchair. Do they ever explain what happend to Shirley that resulted in her losing the ability to walk?

i hope there will tell use later. and besides in the intro he is standing up so yah

i'm also very intereted in knowing the reason why she was handicapped.. hope they will reveal later..

I think they're trying to create suspense. It would surely be revealed later. Makes no sense to put her in a wheelchair and not explain it. But she looks cute. haha.

I dont see there is a need to explain unless it plays a part in the story.
eg. She injured herself in a mission, or something.

Else, it just symbolised that GFS is able to take in ppl with handicap. Thats all.

I really wanna know how she became handicap though.... I hope she will be able to walk later on though...

I'm on episode 16 and they still haven't explained why she's is in a wheelchair. I would hope that they will clarify this soon.

i would like to know how it happened too...i would also like to kno how to handicapped people drive a car? i've always wondered about it, and Shirley can drive in Always Ready, but it doesnt show how.

well actually it did show how...it showed how she got in the car...and then she just drives it like a normal person

maybe she was just born with it or something..i dont think the reason shes handicapped is that significant. shes not a significant role anyways... but i know a lot of handicapped people could drive and i always wondered how but never really seen it. im sure its possible.

yeah, they explain her handicapp in episode 23 where she told Kevin that she got hit by a car.

Handicapped people drives in a modified car.
Like giving gas with a poke that they can handle with their hands.
The car would most probably be an automatic, so they don't have to shift gear.
And most probably has cruise control too, so they can keep both hands on the steer normally and break or give gas with another arm if needed.

Wow...that's pretty cool. But seems like it's even harder to drive...i mean pressing the gass pedel with your hand...humm....to much to worry about. But it's a good invention...hehe

I wonder if Shirley will be able to get back up and walk?? Humm....I hope so...hope there's some miracle...

They show her standing up in the end credits. I don't get why they would have her standing when her character is wheelchair bound since she was little.

i think they will explain when she has a relationship with lai lok yi.

i think in episode 23 when her and kelvin were at the ice cream shop she said she got hit by a car and thats why her legs got paralyze...

yup.. she told Kelvin that she become handicap because she had car accident since young.. I think Nikki is very great as since young she need to do the leg's treatment (I don't know what it call) 2 or 3 times every week.. It was painful when she doing this treatment... and she never give up still keep doing this treatment..

Although she is handicap but she can get through this problem and always think the positive way...I really like Nikki this character.. really great

No they didnt' , and I don't think they will. It's funny that she stands up during the intro...I think she should sit on a wheelchair because that's the role she was playing.

I agree i like Nikki's character in this series. She's so optimistic even tho she's in a wheelchair. Esp liked the way she handled the awkwardness bt her and bowie, pretending that he liked her and that she doesn't have feelings for him when it was the other way around.

The treatment she's going to do 2-3 times a month is called "Physiotherapy"

when i first started watching the series, nikki (shirely) was so b***tchy haha, but then later u realize that she is optimistic.

as to explaning shirley's handicap. so far, they've only said that it was because of a car accident.

Why would it be harder, it's a matter of getting used to I guess. If you can drive a racing car with a joypad, then you can give gas and break with two hands too. I doubt that she can do some serious drifting, but driving good won't be much of a problem. I see cars for handicapped people all around town very often. The only problem they have is to get in and out of the car when there isn't enough space to park their wheelchair besides the car.

I saw her standing up in the starting part of each episode when the song is played.

its weird why it took them so long to explain her handicapped though.

Shirley is handicapped because of a car crash. She tells Kelvin in eps 24

i think hes full chinese. his name is gregory lee. he doesnt have a huge part... if u watch some of the endings of the eps, u'll see him talking.. he doesnt even talk that much in the whole series. hes seems more like an extra. his dad is somebody known tho...

He plays one of the GFS Team member, but sits in the control tower like Nikki--kind of dark looking (doens't have much of a role). He looks like if he is always alsleep..

He plays one of the GFS members who goes out with Linda's best friend ( the one who also lives with Kelvin). I think his Mom is a mix, so I guess that makes him a mix too??

its nice to see a character like her. its gives the story more happiness to it.

yeaa then scene when kelvin was so down bcuz his dad was arrested for doing this illegal thing with his business. and it seemed like kelvin was about to give up on his job. then nikki brough him to her physical therapy place and then after she was down they went to this ice cream shop and while there she told him that she was hit by a car and cause her to be handicap.

I was wondering too but I guess her story comes out from episode 25, she was in a car accident and I feel sorry for her. She's a tough girl in this series for what she's been through.

The car accident is an easy excuse to use to explain her disability..... I was expecting a big story, like that she was a pilot or sommat and an accidental incident cost her her legs......

Hopefully she ends up walking again, but then that is a sudden occurence too....... i'm up to ep 27 and she still isnt able to walk!

Well, not to sound heartless, but it's good she stays in the wheelchair cause it makes it all realistic. Can't always solve everyone's problems, even if it is tv.

she got hit by a car when she was 3 years old or was it 5 years old?? don't quite remember...but she was sort of like run away from home because of her parents divorce or something..then she got hit by a car...that's how she became paralyse..

yea.. they put in a blurb... shirley just says when she was young she was hit by a car.. that's all.

as far as i can remember i think they did not explain...

but i actually hoped that they gave her more screen time to show off her personality as in how she copes with her daily life in a happy manner despite her disability

Yeah, it was mentioned that Shirley got hit by a car when she was little. I feel sorry for her though, I mean she's still so young and she has to sit in a wheelchair for the rest of her life.
