Janice earlier said she wanted to invite Khalil as one of her guest at her concert, I wonder if she was able to invite him. It'd be so cool if she can invite Khalil, he's such a great singer. I remember they sang together for this metro show a while back that also had Edmond and Ivana. It'd be something I'd look foward to if the VCD releases.

Speaking of concert, I saw on a website that the audio version of Khalil's concert is out for sale not at yesasia but at some other website provided by the official website of his album This Love http://www.warnermusic.com.hk/khalil_thislove/

It lets you preview the songs
http://imusic.i-cable.com/dmd/home/album.p...D=3&subID=4
Hopefully they'll release a VCD version of it
For some of the live songs it sounded like his voice was getting scratchy, maybe after singing so many songs.

I just realized that he release the Love Actually radio show themesong 10. 拖男帶女 that he composed. He sang the mandarin version for the radio show while Janice sang the english version for the radio show. It's nice that the english version is on his new album, I wonder if they'll release the one Janice sang as well it's such a nice song.

Khalil's accent is so cute when he speaks canto, but i wouldn't want him to sing canto. One, his songs would sound better in mando cos canto r'n'b just sounds crap altogether, two, mando just sounds nicer in music.

Man i can't wait until he releases another album, but his latest album was released not long ago =.=" I love doing hw to his music, but it makes me wanna sing instead of do hw lol =/
Yunsias ♥
well, i think many people in HK are getting used to him singing only Mandrain songs because his songs are on the charts! so maybe there will come a day where singers will become popular by releasing mandrian albums. anyway why does his company don't promote him in Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore since his songs are in Mandrain? that way he will become more popular than just staying in Hong Kong
tally
yeah canto R&B sounds funky...but it would be great if Khalil could produce an amazing cantonese R&B album and revive the cantopop industry again.. the canto pop industry is so weak right now and it's gonna die out soon if there aren't any new form of life in the business. theres only one genre in cantopop and its always slow ballads, sappy pop songs... we need more genres! and i hope khalil can do that one day... i think warner kinda underrates him as a singer... he's an awesome songwriter though.

omg i love his sounds. His not as cute as other singers, but soul is definitely a different and soothing type of genre. I love his love, love love album its the best

nope but someone uploaded the TVB version MV onto youtube so you can watch it over there. Not sure if the MTV filmed by the music company is up or not though.

I recently discovered Khalil Fong's music. I had his music much earlier, but I didn't bother to listen to it regardless of the high praises I read about him. I started to check out this albums two weeks ago & I haven't been able to stop playing this songs. To my surprised while checking on his profile, I found out that he was born in Hawaii. That's absolutely cool since I'm born and raised from Hawaii. I know this doesn't necessarily related to Khalil Fong, but I just want to clear up the whole raised Hawaiian thing. Umm...it's probably best to say he was born in Hawaii, but "raised Hawaiian" brings up a different meaning since it sounds like he was raised and cultured in Hawaiian customs and he's of Hawaiian blood. So far I haven't heard that he's part Hawaiian in blood. And for his name, I assume you pronounce it like KHA-LIL with the "lil" sounding a little like how people pronounce little like ('lil). Plus, Khalil is not a Hawaiian name. It looks more like an Arabic name to me. Several people in this thread are interested in hearing Khalil sing in Cantonese, but I'd rather he keep singing in Mandarin since Chinese R&B sounds better in Mandarin rather than harsh, choppy sounding Cantonese. But, I am interested to hear what he sounds like speaking in Hawaiian pidgeon English.... lol.

Question I want to ask does Khalil seriously have three blogs? I usually just go to the yahoo one which seems like the best one and the one with the most post and updates.

I found out from the celebrity blog thread
http://asianfanatics.net/forum/-talk301676.html

I really question whether the hompy one is written by him.
but the .hk one is from his company's website so it must be right and the yahoo one also seems real from the pictures posted. Can someone confirm? It's just hard to believe he has so much time to update all three blogs well then again he usually just writes a few words so it might not be that much work but still. I figure he'd be really busy usually with all the self composing, lyricist writing, etc as well as composing for othe artists and going to functions?

He composed Sammi's new song "Mi":
http://youtube.com/watch?v=s1zwKsCl0IE

I figured it was him, sort of.

wow you already knew it was him by listening to the song? The song is pretty different from Khalil's songs except for the violin part, I wouldn't think he composed it if you didn't tell me. The lyrics are pretty cool though how it has all these celebrities names in there.

I always thought that he song in cantonese oO I never listend to his song before, but I saw him a few times on show and he speak cantonese really well.. ^^ anyway hope he could release a cantonese cd later on !

Is he working on his new album now? I really hope it's a Cantonese album!

He is now promoted in Singapore and Malaysia! A bit late but still good! And there are a lot of people who respond that he is a good singer and that his songs is nice. I'm really happy for him! (except that many people pronunced his name wrongly)

i think all three blogs are his. he probably just stopped using the Hompy one and decided to stick with the yahoo blog. he updates more on the yahoo blog then the one at his official website.

im shocked that he composed Sammi's Mi Song.. the song is ....weird.

ahh good to know he is getting international acclaim. i think if they had promoted Khalil in the other Asian markets, and in Taiwan and Mainland to begin with, his success probably would have amounted to more than what it is now..

Hello all. I've just heard of his name for the first time when I saw his promotional event that is going happen these few days. haha sounds so late huh, didnt know that he was already a singer before these few days.

When i first saw his album ad on tv few days ago, I was kinda shocked. He has got a weird and corny name (hehe) and they were playing 'ai ai ai'. Immediately, being a super tao zhe fans, I was like 'why does this guy sound sooo much like tao zhe!!!' kinda unhappy then biggrin.gif

By the way, since he's coming to here to promote his album, i dont know why.. he's coming to my school to have this concert. the tickets are free and i just got it today. i've not really listen to him singing or even take a good look at him. i'm just accompanying my friend to go for the concert. i didnt need to queue for the tix though- i've never heard of him, so i think he's not popular here yet.

i think the concert is this friday. i'm going to see how good/bad he is. i've not seen or hear any news of him, or his performances so far. but i'm keeping a neutral thing of him.. till then.. smile.gif

are you from singapore?

cuz on his blog he said he was going to Singapore for promotional purposes. you should definitely give him a try. his sound is a bit different from David Tao's as Khalil is more R&B and soul. he has two albums out.

The special edition is available at yesasia, it comes with a DVD that is for all regions but it's in pal format. So for me since I'm from the US it'd only play on my computer but not on the dvd player. I think his first two albums are good but 2nd one probably much better. I'm still waiting for my new paycheck before buying it since I do want to buy Soler's debut album as well that way I can get free shipping.

I think you are from Singapore, right? Cause I remember that he went to a school for a mini concert, but I can't remember which school. So lucky! I really want to see him live but I forgot his promotion dates. Many people who went to his autograph session said that they fell in love with his singing and bought his album on the spot for him to sign.

His song "Love Love Love" was also sung by one of the Campus Superstar contestant, Fu Kuan. Goes to show that Khalil is popular in Singapore and Malaysia now!

I believe the official hk fan club forum is the warner one from his website. Yeah, i know they do a terrible job keeping it up and not a lot of convos and stuff. But it's the same with Fiona..both of them only use the warner forums as the official ones.

I'm in a huge Khalil phase right now smile.gif I LOVE 愛愛愛 and I think he's soo much cuter now that he changed those glasses!! Him + Fi are soo cute!

Good guess. His name is Arabic, and I wonder if he was named after Khalil Gibran. Gibran was a Sufi who wrote a lot of love poetry. He's famous for his love poetry.

The name is pronounced Kah-leel, the second syllable sounds like eel, or the unagi which you would eat in Japanese restaurants.

I really like his songs too, and I hope he will collaborate with Ivana Wong. He could use some more gossip news to boost his profile. A love triangle between Khalil-Ivana-Hins will be very amusing to read about. Face it, Khalil works in an industry where people would be more interested in his love life than in his music. Once they get used to his looks, they'll probably seriously try to listen to his music. And once that happens, I think he'll be mega-successful.
Yunsias ♥
^^ Actually he has rumors with Fiona Sit but it was very low profile and I don't think it's true.
Perdita
Yes, he did have that bit of gossip news with Fiona Sit, but that's been dispelled for about a year or two now, now that she's supposedly dating Fong Jo Ming.

Then again, who wants to become famous using gossip? It's more likely that he'll want to become popular based on the merit of his songwriting rather than is love life.
kellyalster
This guy is amazing. I hope he gets more recognition...without gossip haha. He has a different sound that I think Chinese people need because the music there is getting a bit boring. Yeah he's looks like a skinny nerd with aviator glasses (no offense to him tongue.gif) but his talent, voice, and compositions are amazing. People shouldn't be so shallow!! :[ I mean...he's not that awful to look at...so there's not much to complain about. xD

It would be nice if he did Cantonese albums but I skimmed through an interview and he said that Mandarin is his second language (English being his first) and Cantonese is his third. So it's probably more comfortable for him. And I think he said that there was more of a poetic feel to Mandarin??

Well good luck to him.

Yea I like it too but me and my sister like 愛愛愛 and 春風吹之吹吹風Mix. I like how the remix was more romantic and slower and the addition of the girl voice in the beginning was very nice. I don't know why but my sister keeps thinking that the part where Khalil says 麗珍? I think in mandarin at the middle of the song 蘇麗珍 sounds like he's saying "hey Jen". I'm glad my sister likes some of Khalil's songs, took me a while to convince her to listen to his songs. Plus she's reluctant to listen to new singers songs.

Product Title:Wonderland
Singer Name(s):Khalil Fong
Release Date:January 4, 2008
Language:Mandarin
Publisher:Warner Music (TW)

Khalil Fong returns to take fans to his new music Wonderland. Influenced by artists like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and Earth, Wind & Fire, Hawaii-born Khalil Fong took the Canto-pop market by storm with his debut album Soul Boy in late 2005. He took his soulful R&B to the Mandarin market this year with This Love, earning the nickname of "Hong Kong's Jay Chou". Khalil's new Mandarin album features songs like "Park" (Track 5), "Simple Is Most Romantic" (Track 6), and "Future" (Track 8). The acoustic version of This Love (Track 11) has also been included.

And I was wondering hmm could that be the name of his new album and it was. But I gotta say the album picture is kinda bad. I think the picture for This Love was the best one. They should've used the pictures from his "Love Song" MV with that blue piano!
meteorstar
what do you guys think of his new song "Love Song" It's nice to for Khalil to finally compose a love song but somehow his lyrics are always so complicated to him since I have to translate it back to cantonese pinyin in order to understand them. I wish they were more simple and easy to understand like other mandarin songs.

one of my current fav songs. it reminds me a little of Fiona Sit's Tong But Lunk (which khalil composed)

Khalil Fong - Spring Breeze

i also like khalil's "southen sound"

yea it definitely is very similar to Tong But Lut because Khalil was the one who composed it. I heard Southern Sound before i heard Ton But Lut and the minute I listened to it, I knew it had to be composed by Khalil. Both songs are really similar. Seriously. Oh...by the way there a Tong But Lut mandarin version sang by Khalil that was never released, it was a demo version. I got it from khalil hk fan forum. Don't I can post it here. Khalil also sang a Christmas Medley for a 903 radio show and OMG it makes you fall in love with his voice even more! Plus the beginning of the Christmas Medley is so cute where Khalil added these sounds da balai, da balai, da bu dum ba lai so cute! I'm not kidding. Khalil Fong held a press conference yesterday in Central, announcing his upcoming mini concert, “Khalil Fong Wonderland Concert” at Star Hall on March 30th and 31st. Many media outfits were invited to attend the press conference. He played and sang two songs, and revealed that the theme of his concert is environmental protection. Khalil revealed that his earlier Taiwan mini concert was warm up for the upcoming concerts; he even gained a few pounds during the Taiwan trip.

Fiona Sit, FAMA, Kay Tse, and Endy Chow will be the guests at the mini-concert. Originally, Khalil wanted to invite Andy Lau to be a guest. However, Andy is on a long vacation, and he didn’t want to disturb him. Also, previously, Khalil wanted “四小強“ (Hins Cheung, Ivana Wong, Louis Cheung). But the timing of the concerts clashed with their schedules. Khalil revealed that he is nervous about the upcoming concerts because he hasn’t had time to practice. After entering the industry, he has never tried having enough time to prepare for a concert.

Regarding rumored girlfriend Fiona Sit’s earlier attack, Khalil revealed that he had called her and knows that she is ok. He said, “Lucky it was only a small injury. I feel that she handled it well; she was very calm entering the hospital. I hope that fans or anyone do not resort to violence.”

When asked he was worried about his own safety when attending functions, he answered. “There is a chance for danger with anything. There are accidents when you are driving as well.” Khalil learned from co-workers at their record company, Warner, that the man who threw the bottle at Fiona is a fan of Fiona’s. Prior to the attack, the man constantly went to Fiona’s company to look for her. When employees told him that she was not there, the man refused to leave. Earlier, Warner had informed security to not let the man enter the company again. Normally, Fiona’s fans are well behaved, so it appears that the man was a crazed fan. Fiona herself has not learned this news as she is working in Japan at the moment. Responding to comments from netizens that Fiona calling an ambulance was a waste of public funds and that she pretended to cry in order to get sympathy, Khalil said, “I hope that the netizens and everyone else can view this event in a positive way.”

I <3 Khalil & Fiona!! can't wait to see pics from Khalil's upcoming concert, it's going to be his biggest so far. Fiona earlier said that she's been guest for his concert a lot of times that Warner ppl were like AGAIN? But she said..this is Khalil's biggest so far, how can I NOT be there?

man, who knew Khalil could dance too? Warner really did a mediocre job of promoting him. they seem to keep him in the backdrop. He is a multitalented, singer-songwriter-composer-dancer....

you see improvements in each of his album, but he never leaves his true love for R&B and soul!.

Yup! I know, I was so PROUD of him when I saw the clip on youtube! He got BEST ALBUM AWARD =) I'm even more proud than last time when he received his other music award outside of HK. He performed a medley of 3 of his songs. So happy that more and more people outside of HK know him! I believe he should market his songs more outside of HK because more people will appreciate his songs and the MANDARIN Market is so BIG! I just hope he'll be able to get more popular in other mandarin speaking places. He's so underrated in HK! I'm so happy people in Taiwan are so much more enthusiastic about him, the screams when he came out was just music to my ears! infatuated.gif Add Oil Khalil!

OMG I really really hope they'll release his Wonderland Concert at StarHall! It's going to be on March 30 and 31! I am dieing to watch that concert! I'm kinda disappointed that Ivana won't be a guest because their voices went so well together for her song 我真的受傷了 during Khalil's other concert.

hehe thanks Tally for posting that lol I was about to repost it here tongue.gif I really like that remix of 春风吹 where he danced to it! Really want to watch those concerts, too bad we don't have an account to watch it. Yea I know! Seriously I never knew Khalil could dance SO WELL until I saw that clip from his concert! His company really lacks when it comes to promote him! The guys a music genius and a gem of HK music industry! He can sing, compose, produce, write his own lyrics, and even dance! I've always thought right from the beginning that Khalil should dance to many of his songs for his MVs but still no sign of this happening yet sad-smiley-065.gif Even a part with him Freestyling would be a treat for us fans! dry.gif Well I guess on the bright side his MVs finally got alot better this time with all of them filmed in Taiwan, they look so professional and so much cooler, his outfits are a whole lot better too.

sad-smiley-065.gif Oh well I guess it doesn't really matter since it's just 3 MVs plus The Wall footage but still it's cheaper and it came with the MVs.

I have a question so you pronounce his name as Khalio right? just that it's written as Khalil? It seems like some people pronounce it wrong while other pronounce it right so I'm confused sad-smiley-065.gif

^^ Well that's what he pronounced it when he introduced himself in the song (can't remember the song title).

He just had his concert and even Andy Lau send flowers! I'm really surprised.
I want to see the Kay's part of the concert cause I wonder what songs they performed.
