have any heard of his interview with Endy Chow at the Love Actually radio show at rthk. Love Actually usually invites mostly singers and after interviewing them for a short period of time the two guest would go against each other where they both pick a question and have to either find that person or make a person agree with something. It's really interesting. all you need to do is search in google with the key word rthk and then go to the website's search section where you paste Kahlil's chinese name and pick the category: radio interview and just scroll down to look for the Love Actually link with the part where Endy and Kahlil are the guests. I was wondering does Kahlil like Ivana cause when the hosts asked him Endy quickly said "Don't ask him". Then when asked who does he think Ivana like better Hins Cheung or himself, Kahlil quickly said of course Hins Cheung. Ivana and Hins both have been guests for that show before and during their part Ivana called Kahlil to talk to him, he didn't know it was a game and was acting all serious asking what day and what time the event was and even said he might have to ask his company. there are many other different singers as guests and many of them are funny and interesting.

wanted to check out his album...
but any good tracks on his album?...
what's his style?...R&B?...
thanks
kelmen
yes, i heard his album, if i remember correctly it's called soul boy, it's very r n b flavoured indeed, doesn't sound typical chinese at all, he's got a western r n b style i'd say. he's got a pretty good voice, he can sing for sure
goolk
i guess he's not bad
he can really compose
but he has been having a lot of comparison with jay chou
when i first listened, i too felt that his music style is a bit same like jay
i prefer khalil more
meteorstar
His music style is really like Jay Chou but I think Khalil's music sounds happier, faster, and more upbeat while Jay Chou's music is sadder and slower. I think Khalil sings better though, wonder if he'll sing any cantonese albums in the future.

khalil is pretty awesome. Definitely a HK version of Jay Chou. His music is awesome and extremely different compared to alot of artistes today! I like him, he seems real and not the type who would take crap from anyone.

maybe its his cool aviator glasses that's what i love. it gives him attitude =]
HazelNuit
RIght now as a male singer in HK...he definitely has the most talent...eh's up there with Hins Cheung...I'm surprised he isn't really popular right now O.o.

And that awards show...RON NG showing most potential as a singer? Those are obviously rigged or the judges have a huge lapse of judgement...it's sad really..HK entertainment is really going down the toilet. hopefully good singers like Khalil, Hins, and well there aren't other younger ones that are good can bring it back up.
Katie3856
Guess what guys? His album is finally out!!!

Khalil Fong is back to carry his soulful melodies higher.

Around a year after his debut release, the singer/songwriter that further established his reputation by composing the song "Grand Love" found on Andy Hui's 2005 album In The Name Of?, Fong returns. This time, he is here to present the follow-up album to his Mando-pop CD Soul Boy, titled This Love. Once more unveiling his fine sense of R&B, fans can look forward to 13 tracks including the chart-strong titular song (Track 1) as well as a remix of his premier album tune, "Spring Breeze" (Track 13).

He's so talented! I saw him on the Chik Chak 2006 Music Awards, and I was amazed. I love his voice! I haven't heard anything else from him besides the little preview of 愛愛愛. Does anyone have any of his songs? Is there anymore information on him? I read through his blog, and everything is in English, so is he like an ABC?

Yupp Yupp. He's from Hawaii. If u need any of his songs feel free to PM me =]

ahahaz.. this is a pretty late reply, but that's the mv for Su Li Zhen..

Anyway, I agree with HazelNuit.. Khalil is really underrated mellow.gif I reckon he's the best male artist at the moment, but he doesn't really get any recognition. His songs are original and unique compared to the others.

Hehe.. I got my friend to buy me his Soul Boy album in HK (For some reason I can't find it anywhere in Australia) so I can't wait to get it... woohooo~
mr.noodle
hey can anybody tell me the name of this song he sings. I don't speak mando so all I know is he says:

"ai...ai...ai" meaning "love...love...love"
DreSsUp_TimMy
Umm let's see... I'm still a newbie at mandarin.. but I'll try translating the titles for his latest album xD...

1. 愛愛愛 Ai Ai Ai - Love
2. 蘇麗珍 Su Li Zhen - Su Li zhen is a person's name.
3. 歌手與模特兒 Ge Shou Yu Mo De Er - Singer and Model
4. 唉! - Ai! - Ai! (It's just a sound.. like Ohh and Hmmm... If it was written as Ai.... it would be like *sighs*)
5. 四人遊 - Si Ren You - The title can have two translations ... 1. Four people travelling (like on a holiday) or 2. Four people swimming... I'd love it if someone can help me out with this one xD
6. 手拖手 Shou Tuo Shou - Hand in hand
7. 偷笑 Tou Xiao - To steal a laugh (as in to laugh secretly)
8. Goodbye Melody Rose
9. 詩人的情人 Shi Ren De Qing Ren - The Poet's Lover
10. 拖男帶女 Tuo Nan Dai Nu - 拖男帶女 has a lot of meanings since it's like one of those idioms, but I pressume it means taking your friends and family out. (Like the men and women, girls and boys.. yea..)
11. Love Interlude
12. If You Leave me Now
13. 春風吹 RMX - Spring Breeze Remix

lol yup. I'm still learning mandarin so someone please tell me if theres something wrong with my lousy attempt smile.gif

yeah he is so underrated....TVB fails to give him the recognition every year... sigh.. it's too bad... i hope he fares better in the mainland...

Yea his singing is really awesome I believe he's the best newcomer of 2005. I think his singing is even better than Justin's. I really like how he singing his songs at such high notes and in such a smooth and relaxed way. If he had a canto album out he'd probably be more famous in HK.

I agree...too bad he doesn't get the recognition he deserves. It's seems like people are only focusing on Justin and Janice out of the newcomers from 2005 and leaving out the others, who actually are equally talented as them.
I think Khalil would have been more famous if he had a Cantonese album too. His path is actually quite similar to Hins's. Hins's previous albums were also all in Mandarin. It wasn't until recently that he released a Cantonese album...and he's already getting more attention from people.
DreSsUp_TimMy
^ Yea, but that shouldn't be how HK music works. Singers should have the freedom to choose what language they want to sing in and still be popular D:

Apparently, the other reason why Khalil Fong isn't extremely popular at the moment is because people lots of people look to see if the artist is good looking or not before even listening to their music. Like I keep saying, HK music isn't going to get anyway if people are only going to "listen" to the singer's face.
babistampz
i loveeee what this kid can do with his voice! i mean, he's not much of a looker to me - but his voice definitely speaks to me !!

i was really skeptical when i first discovered he was from hk [i'm not the biggest fan of hk music] but then my friend told me he sings in mando and has a very soulful r&b sound to it - i listened to him and absolutely fell in love.

i'm sad that he's not more well known out there - i'd love to see him perform in the US - but i prefer the lack of psycho fans right now =X
oooh
ooh .. here has somebody know who is Khalil .... i think he's the most talented new singer in hk .

i love khalil! his songs are really unique and i would recomend him 2 people that aint heard of him.

That's true because of the focus on Justin and Janice the rest of teh talented newcomers of 2005 were left out or were over shadowed by them. Ivana, Khalil, Charles, and Kay are all very good as well.

It's because the awards are called Top Ten Cantonese songs and that's what most people speak in HK. Not sure how fluent Khalil is in cantonese but he's more fluent in mandarin and probably sings better in it. Wonder if he'll make a cantonese album, not sure if it'll be as good as his mandarin albums. But the mandarin market is way bigger. I'm worried for my favorite singer Charles Ying since his second album is mandarin and even though it seems convincing and sounds pretty good so far form the two songs I've heard, I've pretty much given up on him getting any awards next year in January 2008.
xbunnylicious
^ I so agree with that.
Potential newcomers are overshadowed by Justin and Janice.
Khalil's music is awesome. It's probably because he sings in Mandarin that he doesn't get much awards. Charles' second album is Mandarin?!

Yup, his first song was actually mandarin too since it was for Leon and Faye Wong's movie, he sang the demo at first but because Leon and other thought he sang well that they gave it to him to sing and asked him to join his company. I really liked that song too, it's not that recent though, was surprised they didn't put it in his first album.

Khalil should really get really get more recognition with such great skills in singing and such a nice voice, his singing is so soothing.

Heard him sing live to 蘇麗珍on youtube when he was performing with Justin on JSG and it sounds better than the cd version, maybe because he sang it more soft and it sounded more romantic.
DreSsUp_TimMy
Hmm.. But singing in Mandarin sounds better than Cantonese.. I don't know how to describe it.. but Mandarin is just a whole lot more smoother than Cantonese..

I'm not entirely sure I'd like Khalil to sing in Canto.. I mean, it's good if it helps him go mainstream.. but still..

Ya, i agree too. it's because mandarin flows better and cantonese sounds more chunky..

Don't get me wrong cus i speak cantonese too.

For some reason all the ABC's have songs that always sound good and that are successful. Like Leehom or David Tao, and i believe... KHALIL will be next !

His music is way way more unique. before i thought cantonese songs all sounded the same to me.. i mean.. you got the piano..and then some melody that sounds all the same. But i guess it's getting more diverse now a days..

Good luck to Khalil! Definitely my favorite..

haha like all of you, i'm so glad that i've found his songs! i only listened to his songs once and i fell in love with his voice straight away! and i like it that he composed most of his songs , super talented!

at first i didn't know how to pronounce his name. but one of his songs (cant remember which one was it) have those hidden tracks. in it he was talking and introducing himself to a girl ( i think her name was Ashley or something that starts with A) and he pronounced his name as ke-li-o. that girl had some difficulty pronouncing his name haha...is his name given by his parents? it will make sense if it's because of his Hawaiian background because it's very unique.

i would really love for him to release a Cantonese album because i prefer Cantonese than to Mandrain. and its very sad that him and also some other artistes are not as popular as they deserved. hopefully they all will do well and release more good songs this year!

ya i guess it is because in his song 認識你 he pronouces it like that, but if its pronouced ke-li-o why isnt it spelt khalio rather than khalil???

maybe it's because of his Hawaiian background? like they pronounce Khalil in another way? i also thoufht it is pronounce kyle-le before listening to the song.
DreSsUp_TimMy
Hm. My guess is that its cuz you say it like kha-lil and you pronounce the lil part like you would pronounce lil' (as in the shorter version of little)..

The website moves right with a pink person.
http://www.pinkwork.com/zoneb.htm

Check out video and audio clips of Khalil's interview, click on the white boxs to play them. It's probably better to use Internet Explorer. It pauses for a while so make sure you wait and not click on the next audio. It keeps flashing until each audio clip is finished playing so you'd know.
I really want the photos of him as my computer background too bad I can't get it.

http://www.pinkwork.com/news/read0207.htm

There's a xanga for this website as well
http://www.xanga.com/pinkwork

There's also another clip over here. Click zoom in to get a better view of the video clip. Clip on each grey buttom for another clip there are two audio clips and one video clip. On one of the audio clip he says why he sings in mandarin and about R&B and his music. You have to click on the number that's on the pink remote control to go to the menu and click on the gray buttoms to play the 3 clips.

I think he looks attractive though, most important thing is that his album sells cause that tells whether he's liked or not. He's not really popular but I'm sure he has people who likes his singing since he won awards for his song Love Love Love this year and won the silver award for singer/composer at Chik Chak 903 Music Awards.

yeah i don't think he's a bad looking guy...although recently he does look like he's lost a lot of weight... he was already skinny..but lookat his face now..its so gaunt ;/ ...i do know he's a vegetarian...

but im glad he's getting a lot more recognition in Hong Kong...i think Warner needs to push harder to promote Khalil...i think he's better than Justin, but yet Justin got sooo popular, while Khalil's career is just starting to get that buzz...

maybe one of the problems is that Khalils songs are in mandarin, soo it doesn't connect as well to the Hong Kong audience..but he would do so well in Taiwan and China...

he said that he didn't like his first album..but i actually like his first album compared to "This Love... i hope he can release a cantonese album one day!

he does? I haven't seen any recent picture of him so don't really know, watched some clips on youtube but I didn't really notice. I think his second album has some good songs, I still haven't bought it yet since I'm waiting for Charles' mandarin album to release(which is taking forever) as well so I can buy them together. I'd like to listen to Khalil sing in cantonese but if you watched the link to the interview I posted he said his cantonese is not accurate enough(like he has a bit of accent) and that mandarin is more similar to english and would be closer to the type of R&B music he wants to do. I get a feeling he won't perform as well in cantonese but it'd be so nice if he releases a cantonese album in the future. I'd like to hear him sing more english songs since he's fluent in that and I like listening to them. At least Khalil's at a better position than many other singers just that he isn't as popular as Justin and Janice but many new singers of 2005 aren't as popular as them. It'd be so nice to see him get more popular and more recognition in HK but most speak cantonese and most music awards in HK focus on canto songs so it'd be hard. Most important thing is that his album sells well(the most accurate and realistic way for his company and him to know whether he's popular and liked by listeners) and he continues to release albums. That's why I've decided to buy albums of the singers I really like and needs my support since I know downloading would only make them disappear really fast especially for new singers.
