Miss Chinese International Contestants Meets Media

The 17 contestants of the ‘2006 Miss Chinese International Pageant’ having had a make over, officially stepped out in public for everyone to see for the first time. This year’s contestants are of a higher quality than any other year. Contestant number 11, Miss Montreal, Ng Wai Kei, can be said to be the prettiest of them all, making the contestant from the hosting city, Hong Kong, Tracy Yip, lose a bit of face.

The contest will be held on the 21st of this month. On the night, awards like first, second and third place awards will be handed out. Miss Friendship will also be crowned. The award money for this contest is over $1 200 000.

Hong Kong’s contestant, Tracy Yip says, “Confidence is a must! I will do my best in representing Hong Kong. Winning or not winning is not a problem.” Tracy has given crystal ornaments to the rest of the contestants and hopes to win the ‘Miss Friendship’ title.

Such shows really needs a peeps that know how to host a show, cause last year was kinda boring.

I've seen the pictures of the other contestants, I don't think HK will do well this year. She won't place, as for the friendship title..I don't think crystal ornaments will cut it haha.

I don't think Hong Kong will win first again... lol it's kinda sad since every year they keep losing and the pageant is always being held in hk. I think Miss Toronto is really pretty and she has lots of talents. She has a good chance of winning. I've never seen Miss Montreal before... I think she must be really pretty!! Tracy might win other awards, but not be crown as miss chinese international. Most miss hong kong are not the first winner. I wish her luck in the show.

i really think that Ms Hk is no match with the a lot of the contestants @ this contest. I dunno, other contestants have such high qualities, it's really a tough competition.

i don't like tracy ip. she shouldn't have been crowned first place in mhk. rather, it shouldn't been sheren who should've won. if sheren were representing hk, hk would have a higher chance on winning. cus tracy doesn't seem to have much intelligence...she doesn't stand out nor are her answers real good. i think it's just her height that makes her stand out cus she isn't too pretty either.

erf. i think HK is one of the best among the contestants, if not THE best one.

My personal thoughts: Miss Montreal is pretty because she is chinese/french mix. She will probably not get first.. reason being she is only 17 years old. Youngest in the competition. Second, she can't understand nor speak Cantonese. She will probably crack the Top 5 though.

I don't think Tracy is trying to "bribe" the girls. In most pageants, girls are asked to bring small gifts/souvenirs for the other contestant girls as a small gift. I see nothing wrong with her presenting the other girls with a gift to welcome them to HK for the competition.

The second from right is the most prettiest, Toronto I believe. That Montreal girl, lol she's not pretty actually.

What a suck up. Using gifts to bribe the other contestants. That's really low of Tracy. The contestant from Montreal is quite pretty. Although this picture isn't too clear and probably a bad angle.

Miss HK will probably end up 1st runner up and the winner will be from Canada HA HA

i can bet that miss HK will definitely end up in the top 5. it's like this every single year. the best that they can get is either the champion or the top 3. consolation is probably top 5 and/or miss friendship.

TVB's organising this beauty pageant; there's no way miss HK can get away from top 5. i know they still HAVE the looks, though. just my personal opinion.

i totally agreed...every year there must be have ms hk at top 5...it's quite unfair for another contestant...and it totally unfair for who are cant speak cantonese. every year held at hk and need to speak cantonese (how about another contestant who cant speak cantonese)

I think that Miss HK is best looking one in the picture. She poses well.

It seems like there aren't going to be any representative from Europe this year. As far as I can remember, the past few years.. there has been over 20 contestants. I'm surprised the number is down to 17 this year. Anyways, I know that some beauty pageants only hold an event once every 2 years due to budget limitations. That may be a reason why we don't see a Europe representative this year. *shrug*

Sidenote: Wow, some people are still asking which one is Miss Montreal. If they read through the thread, they should see how a lot of people have commented back and pointed her out. I even labeled all 5 of the contestants in the picture posted above.



I forgot to add my 2 cents about Miss HK Tracy Ip.

I think she will definately crack the Top 3 this year in MCI 2006. I mean, yes TVB organizes the event and HK does "exceptionally well" as some people point out. But maybe they should consider the fact that the HK representative over the years ARE in fact one of the strongest candidates due to all that training they went through during Miss HK contest. If you look at the pics from the press conference, you can't deny that Miss HK Tracy Ip does have great presence about her. I am not a fan of hers.. I'm just looking at this from a mutual perspective.

Also, she just came back from Miss World. A BIG contest and gained a lot of perspective about competition/pageantry etc... I mean, she DID crack the Top 15 in the Beach Beauty Competition in Miss World and A LOT of pageant websites did place her as a possible contender for the crown/ Queen of Asia.

ya, i think the toronto one is the prettiest one. the montreal one doesnt look that good in the pic. and miss hk seems like she just bribing the contestants for an award. if she is really that friendly, she wouldnt need to buy the gurls nethin and she'll still receive the award

Yes, Toronto [ Elva] looks the prettiest! Are they not sending the Vancouver contestent? Well that's good = = . she looks horrible. The vancouver pagents were NOT good at all this year. Well that breaks our 3 year strike for vancouver =\. Well at least Toronto has a chance of winning. Go Canada!

I never really liked this years miss hk. She's too skinny, but from this pic, she looks better than the other miss international contestants. Miss Toronto doesn't look bad either.

this pageant may have tvb's eye on them. look at how many female stars in their company that was once a international winner from another country

I won't judge until there are better photographs released. But I guess the press did pick the best ones, #6 Bangkok, #7 Johannesburg, #11 Montreal, #12 Toronto and #17 Hong Kong.
