Louisa So Takes a Break
"Beautiful Cooking Goddess" Louisa So joined celebrity chef Lee Kam Luen yesterday for a promotional event at the Mongkok Flower Market as judges for the 'Student Healthy Lunch Box Competition'. With the recent move towards healthy eating, Louisa indicates that she is a bit of a health freak at heart and says: "When I eat, everything has to be in proportion, which is 3 parts starch to 2 parts vegetables and 1 part meat. Also eating plainer is good for your health." As well as taking care over eating well, Louisa also exercises well and every week, she will go at least once to play badminton, because only regular exercise can bring good health. As for the modern trend in organic foods, is she a supporter? She says she would like to give it a try.

Talking of her performance, Louisa says she is currently taking a break and she will not have a new TVB series until after the Chinese New Year in March. After this series is completed, around June, then she will be concentrating on rehearsals for her stage production "Secret Love of Plum Blossom Field", which will open in August. Asking whether she will be going away whilst she has a break, she says she has not planned to go on vacation and should be staying in Hong Kong for the new year celebrations.

Michael Miu Kiu Wai, Louisa So Yuk Wah, and Nancy Sit Ka Yin appeared as contestants on the last episode of TVB's game show, "Questioning Showbiz." The artists tried their best win over the audience to vote for them.

Nancy spouted Lunar New Year greetings at the audience, "Beautiful Chef" Louisa promised to treat for dinner, and Michael flirted with the audience. All three artists tried their best to win big money for the new year, creating a lively atmosphere.

Michael appeared on the show previously and won $81,000 (HKD), the largest prize any guest had won in all episodes. After eating his New Year's Eve dinner, Bosco Wong appeared at a Lunar New Year countdown event with Louisa So Yuk Wah and Fiona Yuen at the New Century mall in Mongkok. The artists gave out red envelopes to the fans present.

Louisa So Shows off Cooking Skills Over the New Year
Louisa So has been highly acclaimed as a great cook and this year for the Chinese New Year, she has stayed in Hong Kong to cook her guests a meal. She reveals that she invited around 20 friends and family to her home and she presented them with a feast of her own cooking. Louisa smiles that she had designed a number of different dishes, including her father's favourite Sea Prawn Congee, Glutinous Rice Prawns, Jade Chicken and Dragon Eel. Asked if she will be making some new year puddings for her friends, she says: "No, some of my friends work in a hotel, so they will always send me some mooli cake and new year pudding."

Louisa smiles that she has found that the puddings and cakes bought from outside are just as tasty as home made ones and so there is no need to make them yourself. She often makes up new dishes of her own. Asked if she is worried about putting on weight, she says she is not afraid of getting fat because she will lose it again once she starts working again. Louisa says that it is great to see all her friends during the festival, so she decided to have a very enjoyable meal with them. After the new year, Louisa will be going out to Macau and North America for some stage performances. Asked if she is making some money for the new year, she smiles: "I admit that this year has been a very rewarding one for me."

Louisa So Floats to the Skies
Beautiful Cooking Goddess Louisa So took part in a cookery event at Ocean Park earlier and spent several hours there enjoying herself. She had a close encounter with celebrity parrot Bon Bon and it made her very happy. She reveals that her family used to own a green and yellow parrot that used to talk all day and it increased the atmosphere in her home. Now she is tempted to keep a pet parrot again.

Then Louisa took a ride in a hot air balloon and when she rose up 120 metres in the air, she said excitedly: "I can finally go as high as a parrot can, hurry and help me take a photo!" Louisa So Helps the Third World by Drinking Coffee
On Saturday evening, Starbucks Coffee held a jazz party, inviting many female stars to the event, including Louisa So, Joyce Li and Jolie Chan as guests. The three ladies talked to the press about their thoughts on coffee drinking and Louisa reveals that her preference is for a Mocha because it is not too bitter. Louisa says that her boyfriend has developed a love for coffee after returning from study in New York last year and he has to drink it every morning. Asked if she is worried that drinking coffee will have detrimental effects on her health and her skin, she says: "As long as I don't drink it every day, I am fine. As coffee is grown in many third world countries, then I see drinking coffee as a form of offering a charitable donation to them."

Despite her reputation for cookery skills, Louisa will be playing a girl who does not like to cook in her forthcoming new series "Harmony Taste Passion". She says: "Haha! This means that this role will be a huge challenge for me. Louisa So, Joyce Tang and Michael Tao took part in the costume fitting for new series "Harmony Taste Passion" where the three will become entangled in a triangular affair.

Louisa plays a character who hates cooking and dreams of becoming a star and even goes to Japan for breast implants and cosmetic surgery. Louisa laughs: "The character is the complete opposite of me because I would never have plastic surgery and so this is a very challenging role for me. The series will be filming in Kyushu in Japan in May for two weeks and I will take the opportunity to learn some Japanese cooking and combine work with leisure. That is great!" Michael also says that a lot of friends are very envious taht he can go and film in Japan and this is a very good job because he usually films in China. He also compliments his two female co-stars: "I have worked with Louisa before in 'Detective Investigation Files' but this is the first time I have worked with Joyce. However, I often meet up with her and boyfriend Marco Ngai to go and play badminton."

Joyce has been filming in the mainland for the past year or two and asked jokingly if she has earned a lot, she smiles: "It has been hard work! When I was filming in Bejing and Chongqing for 'Chongqing Bombing', the weather was very cold and I had to wear a chipao but was not allowed to wear tights, so I have to drink to keep warm. (Has your boyfriend asked you not to work?) I would like him to support me financially too!"

Michael Tao Rescues Louisa So
Michael Tao and Louisa So were filming in a TST East Hotel swimming pool yesterday for new series "Harmony, Taste & Passion" and the supportive producer had forewarned the visiting press not to ask Michael questions regarding his recent divorce, otherwise he will ban them from visiting the set in the future. In order to avoid problems in their future work, the reporters could only agree to the request. However, Michael did not know about the good gesture from the producer and when he saw the press, he seemed a little unhappy. When they told him about the producer's request and not to be worried, he relaxed and said: "I was not afraid."

In this scene, it tells of Louisa, who wears a bright pink wig, dreaming of becoming a star and fighting over an outfit with Josephine Shum and although she wins in the end, Josephine makes her look a fool by pushing her into the water. Michael's character is passing by delivering sushi and he knows that Louisa can't swim, so he jumps in to save her. After jumping into the sea at Lei King Wan earlier, this is Michael's second water scene in the show and although it was cloudy and a little cold, the water was warmed in the pool and he did not have to wear a wet suit to keep out the cold, however, he was shaking a little in the cold and had to keep moving to keep warm. There were three cameramen on hand to film the scene, including one who had to dive underwater to capture the scenes in the pool. At one point, Louisa was so absorbed by her crying scene that she could not stop even after the director had called to cut.

Talking of his good friend Bobby Au Yeung being accused of leaving his wife behind and going partying, Michael says: "Is it a misunderstanding? Maybe it was a relative. I don't know what happened, but going for a drink is nothing special and very normal. (He used to go with his wife, but now he leaves her behind?) Well besides your wife, you have other friends. I don't know the details, but I hope that you don't turn a normal social occasion into something magnified." Michael has been learning a lot of new skills in the show, where he plays a Japanese food chef: "Yesterday, I learned how to make tempura and earlier I had a scene where I had to prepare a tuna fish. At first, the fish was about waist height, but the producer said it was not impressive enough, so he booked a fish that was as tall as me, with a huge piece of fat stuffed into the cheeks. It was priceless and I have tried it. It melted in your mouth and it was the first time I have ever tried anything like this."

In the show is also a scene where Louisa has to film an ad, but her face is edited onto a large-bosomed lady and in the end, her manager tells her to have a boob job to help further her career in showbiz. The plot develops when she is in Japan to have the operation, but she rescues a food critic. Asked if she has seen her edited photo, Louisa says: "I have seen it, it is okay! (Do you feel that you suit having big breasts?) A little! (Do you know if the big breasts are local or foreign?) They are local."

Vanessa Yeung and Louisa So met through the Beautiful Cooking kitchen as they became 'Beautiful Cooking Goddesses'. Despite their great culinary skills, when the ladies meet, they do not talk about food, but the things that mean a lot to every woman, her own romantic love story and destiny.

Question 1 - Acting with True Emotions?

V: Although I have never filmed anything, I often hear from friends that it is very easy for actors to become too absorbed in their roles and fall in love with thier co-stars, has this happened to you?

L: Of course it has! Humans are very emotional animals, but I keep it very clear. Acting and real life are two very separate worlds, but the world on the screen lets you try a lot of things, but you have to learn to detach yourself.

V: How do you deal with it?

L: I will not take the feelings home with me, when I get home, then I cannot love him any more. I am quite a calm person and I will ask myself exactly what these feelings are. Finally I will clearly understand what it is all about. If not, it would be very dangerous because when you film one show you will fall for A, but in another show, you will fall for B!

V: What if the other person has feelings for you?

L: Fortunately I have not tried this! I have seen other people fall in love and there are pros and cons to it. This is down to fate, but the most important thing is to ask yourself whether you truly like the person or if it is an illusion created by the acting.

V: I relly admire you Louisa for being very true to yourself. Seeing you makes me happy, it seems like you don't have many worries.

L: I am just enjoying my life. I am not someone who has a lot of plans, but I will head in the direction of doing things in my own way, as long as I live happily.

V: What is happiness?

L: Working in society, you often hear people talk about being under great stress and being unhappy. In truth, you have to know how to gain a balance in life and how to relax. I will always do what I like doing, regardless of what other people think, because you should not have too many restrictions in life. I will not interfere with other people's lives and I hope people will not interfere in mine.

V: How do you normally enjoy your life?

L: I have always lived a very peaceful life, but I really enjoy it. I like to go travelling with just a rucksack on my back and experience the real life of the places I visit. I remember when I studied at the Academy of Performing Arts, I went to Europe with a group of schoolmates to wander for a month, sleeping in train stations and parks and once even having tens of us sharing one big bed. At the time, I had no money and was lucky if I had a coke to drink. Although it was hard work, it is something I will remember for the rest of my life.

V: It sounds like it was a lot of fun, I often go to Japan and it is an experience.

L: Yes, even in Hong Kong, I like to travel around. I go to Mongkok where there are lots of people and visit my friend's street restaurant, taking the bus and minibus. I have the right to do this, as long as it is comfortable, it is fine.



Question 3 - When will you marry?

V: I am very envious of your thirteen year loving relationship with your boyfriend (Poon Chan Leung). What brought you both together?

L: It's cliched, but it was fate! Of course this figure is not easy and it has involved a lot of laughter and tears, maybe we both emerged from the theatre, so we affected each other and shared a common conversation topic and interests, so it has kept us both so happy over so many years.

V: Have you had any big arguments before?

L: Of course! Which set of lovers has never had arguments! We both have moods, but fortunately we are quite calm and after we calm down, then we will apologise to each other and forgive one another.

V: I feel that the most important thing is to give each other some personal space as well as mutual trust. Have you thought about when you will get married?

L: I had not thought about this matter before, but this year I will start to think about it. Marriage is the start of another era in your life, so we will discuss this and plan it first, but it may not be so soon.

Michael Tao, Louisa So, Bernice Liu and Joyce Tang were among the cast members at the blessing ceremony for TVB's new series "Harmony, Taste & Passion". The series is themed around Japanese food, so as well as cutting the traditional roast pig, they also followed the Japanese tradition of breaking open the wine cellar and shared a lot of Japanese snacks. Maybe he was afraid after his recent rumours, but michael seemed rather reluctant when he was asked to pose with Louisa. Finally it was down to the producer to pull them together. Talking of the reports that he has been to visit Sonija Kwok at home at night, Michael indicated that he would not comment on these rumours and people can write what they like.
