Choi Ji-woo to Stage Solo Concert



Actress Choi Ji-woo will hold a solo concert entitled ¡°Ji-woo¡¯s Secret Garden¡± on June 24 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the Little Angels Art Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. A person close to Choi said on June 10 that the actress has been rehearsing for the concert since March. He also added that the music will be performed by the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, and guests will include singers Lee Jung-hyun and Kim Beom-soo.

At the concert, Choi will perform theme songs from her television dramas ¡°Beautiful Days,¡± ¡°Staircase to Heaven¡± and ¡°Winter Sonata.¡±

Choi decided to hold the concert in an effort to expand the scope of her activities and emerge as a versatile entertainer. Her decision was largely influenced by her new agency, Yedang Entertainment, which specializes in live performances and with which Choi signed a contract in March.

The actress showed off her impressive singing skills and quick ability to adapt to the stage last year when she performed several songs for her Japanese fans in Yongpyeong, Gangwon Province.

Yedang Entertainment plans to publicize this concert through its three subsidiaries in Japan. A large number of Japanese fans are expected to come to Korea to see the concert.

'Winter Sonata' star to tour 10 Asian countries

SEOUL - Fans all over Asia will have their eyes peeled for Bae Yong-jun after a news report announced that he and "April Snow" co-star Son Ye-jin will tour 10 Asian countries during the August-September period to promote their new movie.

In a June 9 interview with Star News, CEO Kim Dong-ju of ShowEast, the company that produced the movie, reported that the movie will open concurrently in all 10 countries on Sept. 9.

The promotion tour will include Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, China and Indonesia. Bae, Son and their agency Blue Storm are currently finalizing the details of the tour schedule.

The filming of "April Snow", a melodrama directed by Heo Jin-ho and starring Bae and Son as leads, is near completion, with only a few scenes left to be shot in Seoul. After the filming is over, Bae will star in the epic drama "Taewang-sasingi", produced by Kim Jong-hak Production, while Son will be busy filming her next movie, "The Standard of Love".

Meanwhile, KBS Global News reports that Bae's WS co-star Choi Ji-woo will stage her first solo concert entitled "Ji-woo's Secret Garden" on June 24 in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul.

The actress, who has reportedly been rehearsing since March, is expected to perform theme songs from her hit television dramas "Beautiful Days", "Stairway to Heaven" and WS.

She will be backed by the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra and have singers Lee Jung-hyun and Kim Beom-soo as guests.

Choi Ji-woo Stars with Japanese Star Kimura Takuya

Actress Choi Ji-woo has filmed a short television drama with Japanese star Kimura Takuya. The Japanese sports daily Sankei Sports reported on June 20 that Choi and Takuya co-starred in a drama that will air on Fuji TV's program "SMAP×SMAP" on June 27. Choi visited Japan last week to film the drama in a studio.

The newspaper also wrote that the drama starring Choi and Takuya is from the psychological game genre. In the story, the two main characters try to read each other's thoughts and mindset through facial expressions and gestures while playing cards.

Sankei Sports said Choi showed a completely different side of her acting talent by playing a composed and cool-headed woman, unlike her sensitive and emotional character in "Winter Sonata." The newspaper said Choi and Takuya looked serious when cameras were on, but laughed a lot when the filming was over or when they were checking just-filmed scenes on the site.

Sankei Sports also wrote that Takuya asked Choi about drama production in Korea. In response, Choi explained that each television drama in Korea usually consists of 20 episodes which air twice a week, and that oftentimes the filming lasts all night long. Takuya was reportedly very surprised to hear that each drama in Korea typically has up to 20 episodes.

The newspaper said Choi expressed her thanks to the Japanese production team in Japanese after the filming was over, and projected that this drama will draw significant attention as it features two high-profile stars who are Korean and Japanese.

Sankei Sports also wrote that preliminary sales of Choi's first DVD and photo album "Jiwoo Travel in Diary," which will be released in late July, have already begun on the Internet portal website "Excite."

Choi Ji-woo to Co-Star with Takenouchi Yutaka



Actress Choi Ji-woo and Japanese star Takenouchi Yutaka will co-star in a television drama that will air on TBS in Japan beginning next January, according to Japanese sports dailies on July 4. The drama will be filmed in both Korea and Japan for about four months starting this coming November.

Sankei Sports quoted TBS producer Ueda Hiroki as saying, ¡°In the story, Choi and Takenouchi will portray love that transcends national boundaries.¡± He also said Choi will act in Korean first and gradually switch to Japanese, and that her character¡¯s efforts to overcome the language barrier would be interesting to watch.

Ueda continued, ¡°Korean television dramas are unrivaled. So this drama aims to appeal not only to hallyu fans but young viewers from both Korea and Japan by presenting them with a unique story different from typical hallyu dramas. It will also send a message of friendship between the two countries.¡±

The daily reported that Choi, known as the ¡°queen of tears,¡± is likely to act out various crying scenes in the drama as well.

Meanwhile, Sports Nippon wrote that Choi became a fan of Takenouchi after watching the movie ¡°Between Calm and Passion,¡± in which he stars, in 2001. Choi said she is honored to have this opportunity to co-star alongside the notable Japanese actor. The newspaper also quoted Takenouchi as saying that he was ¡°glad to be part of a challenging production that will be difficult to accomplish.¡±

S Korean actress Choi collapses, may cancel Japan visit


South Korean actress Choi Ji-Woo has collapsed likely due to fatigue and is expected to cancel her visit to Japan scheduled to start Thursday, her agency said. Coi, who played the heroine in the popular South Korean TV drama "Winter Sonata," was taken to hospital after collapsing Wednesday night and is now resting, the agency said.

She was scheduled to come to Japan on Thursday to attend a reception commemorating the Japan-South Korea friendship year and give a press conference in Tokyo. She is set to star with Yutaka Takenouchi in a Japanese TV drama series to be aired on Tokyo Broadcasting System between January and March next year, TBS officials said earlier this month. I personally don't think she's stunningly beautiful but she really is lucky though! Considering she got to act opposite 2 of the most famous actors in Korea, Bae Yong Jun and Kwon Sang Woo.

Stairway to heaven was the first series I had seen CJW in and after seeing it i thought she wasn't bad, not that pretty but not bad of an actress.

Now from seeing her other pictures from other series, premieres, normal shots, magazines I reckon she is quite attractive! However she looks better and prettier with longer hair

"Love Letter" Starring Choi Ji-woo and Cho Han-sung to Open Next Year



The melodrama ¡°Love Letter,¡± starring Choi Ji-woo and Cho Han-sung, will open in Japan in the fall of next year. The movie¡¯s production companies, Taewon Entertainment and White Lee Entertainment, as well as its distributor, Show Box, held a press conference at the Hotel Shilla in Seoul on August 4 to announce the beginning of filming.

With the movie¡¯s lead actors attending the event, the producers and distributors introduced the movie and briefed journalists on the premiere schedule.

¡°We will begin shooting the movie on August 7 and finish filming by October. It will open early next year in Korea, and in the fall of next year in Japan with the help of Pony Canyon and Toshiba Entertainment,¡± said a person from the production company.

Choi, the movie¡¯s lead actress, said it will be her first role in a big-screen melodrama, although she has already created a strong melodramatic reputation on the small screen. In ¡°Love Letter¡± Choi plays ¡°Han Hye-won,¡± who strives to remain strong and protect her last love until the end even as she faces death.

Choi Ji-woo Discusses Beauty Secrets with Japanese Actress

Top star Choi Ji-woo and Japanese actress Misaki Ito held a series of conversations on beauty secrets recently. The Japanese newspaper The Daily Yomiuri reported on August 9 that the two met when Ito visited Korea recently to film the Japanese TV program ¡°The Story of Pretty Tokyo Women.¡±

She met with Choi at the Walker Hill Hotel and at various restaurants in Seoul featuring traditional Korean cuisine to discuss beauty and health secrets, and to share interesting episodes that occurred on filming sets.

Questioned by Ito as to what has been the most romantic moment in her life so far, Choi confessed that it was when she received a bouquet of flowers from a man.

Choi presented her Japanese colleague with a letter and a T-shirt, while Ito promised to present Choi with a list of top Tokyo stores.

That's easy! I would have to say 'STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN'.
It's very emotional and touching. The storyline is really good. I simply love it and it makes you can't get enough of it. She cried so much in there. It's just like Cinderella but much better. I personally recommend this series. I'm really not into korean movie but after watching "STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN" it opened my eyes. The storyline is really good too. The characters there are so convincing that you would hate some and like some. You should watch it I think you'll like it--that is if you're into korean movies and like Choi Ji Woo and Kwon Sang Woo(he's hot)
In my mind "STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN" is like an everlasting love that you wish to have but no that it don't really exist. It's the kind of love that no one can't come between no matter how hard they try. The love in which death can't even come between--that's how strong it is. It made me cry and you'll cry too--you'll feel sorry for some of the characters. I don't know what else to say but I suggest you should watch it. You'll see what I mean. You might like maybe you won't but I think you will. You might not be happy but still it's worth it.

May someone confirm this news for me... I heard that she is going out with Kwon Sangwoo in real life is it true? I was just curious that all. I do think they make the greatest pair. They look so sweet in the movie "The Stairway to Heaven".

Choi Ji Woo is such a talented actress... I'm not sure if I said this yet, but I think some of her roles are repetitive though... she does too many melodramas. I really liked Stairway to Heaven though... but I thought that was more of a breakthrough performance for Kwon Sang Woo. They have good chemistry though... and I really liked her as Han Jung Suh.

choi ji woo is a superb korean actress. i was able to watch her in her dramas..beautiful days, the truth, winter sonata, stairway to heaven, and a glimpse on 101st proposal.. i like the way she act and how her tears shed easily. i believe choi ji woo is the best korean actress.. and glad to know too that she can sing.

Choi Ji-woo draws 7,000 people to drama concert in Japan



Actress Choi Ji-woo held the ¡°Choi Ji-woo¡¯s Drama Concert¡± in Osaka, Japan on Sept. 13, drawing an audience of 7,000, reported Kyodo News. The repertoire comprised songs and videos from TV dramas Choi has starred in so far.

Donning a long black dress, Choi greeted her mostly female audience in Japanese, eliciting cheers. The news agency said the actress enraptured her audience when she began her concert with the song ¡°My Memory,¡± which was featured in the series ¡°Winter Sonata.¡±

The concert included guest appearances by Park Sol-mi, Choi¡¯s co-star in ¡°Winter Sonata,¡± the series¡¯ director Yoon Seok-ho, and actor Shin Hyun-jun, who has gained popularity in Japan for his role in the series ¡°Stairway to Heaven.¡±

Choi held her first drama concert, entitled ¡°Choi Ji-woo¡¯s Drama Classic Concert in Seoul,¡± in Korea back in June, but this was her first drama concert in Japan.
