A potential comeback for Hallyu's Queen Goddess of Melodrama

A rather disappointing "comeback" last year with the overproduced (and under-thought-out) action drama Air City, Hallyu (and sob) queen Choi Ji-woo just might be back on television by the end of the year.

December will see the start to a new SBS series, Oh! My Goddess!, to be produced by Olive Nine. (Note: Some sources talk about this like a done deal; others say that Choi is almost set to appear in the drama; and others talk of her as the most likely prospect. For what it's worth.)

In the drama, Choi's (would-be) role is Lee Mari, a top actress who's bombarded with romantic advances by four men. Those men (as yet uncast) vary across the board in character and background: one is a Korean literature graduate student with aspirations of becoming a writer, another a famous photographer, one a third-generation chaebol (sigh, that trope won't die), and the last a young top exec at a media corporation.

The series is said to be nearing contract finalizations. Writer will be Kang Eun-jung of Lovers in Paris, and Oh! My Goddess! will follow Moon Geun-young's sageuk drama Painter of Wind.

I think she is so pretty and elegant! I only saw her in Stairway to Heaven and Beautiful Days though. I want to see Winter Sonata...I heard it was pretty good.

i can't wait to see the new series!! she looks so gorgeous in the above pics!! especially the one with the white dress.

Choi Ji Woo is great again in her new series Star's Lover, and she and Yoo Ji Tae look great together. I have seen the first 12 episodes so far. I hope the story of the two of them together doesn't end badly, which would be very disappointing. I have also seen Choi Ji Woo in Winter Sonata, Stairway to Heaven, Beautiful Days, Air City, Now and Forever, Everybody Has Secrets, Mr. Duke, some parts of Rondo, and many clips on YouTube. I feel like I could never see enough of her -- I just never get tired of watching her and listening to her voice in Korean (which I don't understand but it almost doesn't matter). To me she is the greatest. I have seen many actresses in many (mostly western) movies but none compare to her in my view (-- and I left my teenage years behind close to 40 years ago).

its like Choi Ji Woo never gets old despite her age she still looks like a cute and pretty teen actress. she's very pretty and sexy in all her Korean drama series and also movies.

You are quite right. Of course, with time she will age anyway -- and I hope she can find a way to do so gracefully. Her naturally sweet and soft character (at least that is what she seems like from what I have seen) could make it easier, and I hope she can find new ways to express herself, in different kinds of acting roles, perhaps -- and I also hope she can stay healthy.

Choi Ji-woo is one of the most famous Korean actresses in Asia; she has not been acting in a TV series since the popular “Stairway to Heaven” in 2003.

The story of Air City is based on the aviation industry, and most filming will be done at Seoul Incheon International Airport. Choi will be playing a highly successful department manager, but problematic with her love life.

The representative of actress Choi Ji-woo has admitted that the “Winter Sonata” star is seeing fellow actor Lee Jin-wook. The two have been dating for the past two years, since they met while working on the drama “Air City” in 2007. There have been rumors in the past about the two stars going steady, but they have steadily denied that there was any special feeling between them. However, they were spotted on several occasions enjoying a cozy time together in Lee’s car and in front of Choi’s home. Lee is six years younger than Choi.

Choi has a huge following in Japan, where her popularity nearly matches that of her “Winter Sonata” co-star Bae Yong-joon. She is currently taking some time off after finishing a drama called “A Star’s Lover” on SBS. Meanwhile, Lee is presently starring in a weekly series titled “Glass Castle.” He is also scheduled to begin his military duty later this year.

It's good to see that Choi Ji Woo has a boyfriend -- and Lee Jin Wook seems like a decent guy. I would like to see them together in a movie or series again (as in Air City), but most especially I would like to know that they are happy together. I just love to see Choi Ji Woo's happy face. She remains the loveliest woman I have ever seen.
