In tix story Nishijima ShO (YUTAKA) is a Japanese police whose Dad was killed in Korea when he was young. When he grows up, in order to discover the truth of his Dad case, he works as an undercover & dives into a finance & economics secret organization which has the enormous influence to politics.
During the investigation period, ShO gets to noe a ger - Choi Yoon A (Choi Ji-Woo)who runs a South Korean restaurant in Japan.

WOW thanx i heard this drama is a big hit in japan now i can't wait to watch it. choi ji woo looks great and beautiful the guy is weird looking maybe i judged him too early.he might look hot on screen like the guy in Staiway to heaven forgot his name.

I've seen episode 1 & 2 of this drama. LOVE IT! Terrific storyline, great chemistry between Yutaka & Ji Woo, good production values and some of the best cinematography seen in a drama (it's more like a movie), great soundtrack with the beautiful song "Sayonara" by lee sung chul - what more could you ask for?

Speaking of Yutaka & Ji Woo - the interaction between the brave strong-minded mischevious korean girl and the serious kind and quietly funny Japanese guy in the drama is sooooooo good! In the two episodes i've seen, every single scene of their interaction is either funny / sweet / moving. Each speaks their own language, and the misunderstandings / confusion / frustration / sign language / facial expressions etc are so natural. The fact that they often don't understand each other makes them even more curious about the other, so when one of them speaks the camera is usually focussed on the other person's face. Fantastic acting from both of them!!

i love yutaka its why i wanted to watch this series and its actually intresting how its part korean and japanese. yutaka and the lady have an innocent friendship for now >_< lol

I have watched the first two episodes and I think it is nice. This drama looks scary and I am very scare when the organization wants to find out who the undercover is. I am so worried for Yutaka. This drama is worth looking forward to because of Hayami Mokomichi!!! He is so cool as the gangster's son!!!

OMG ! Hayami Mokomichi is in this , im so watching this ! All the drama he's been in so far are all good !

I have only watched the first eps. I wanted to check it out as I like the femail actress Choi Ji Woo. I have seen a lot of dramas with her in it and liked all of them. However i was a little dissapointed in this drama. It was kind of boring to me, i don't know if it will get better in the upcoming eps. but i prefer to watch all the other new dramas that are out there instead.

For people who only watch the 1 episode and dont like it, they should give it another chance, and watch epi2, i sure u guys will be hook by then.

This is really a terrific show so far, base upon watching 7 ep. It got great production values, the show look gorgeous. The cast is good, epecially Yutaka Takenouchi is so natural and charismatic, looks awesome in suits. It also have a really cute dog, call Justice. And the openning and ending theme songs are great too. Did i mention how hot Yutaka is, man im feel like drooling just thinking about him.

So people go watch it. (You can get english subbed episodes at daddict).

I havent seen this drana yet, but heard that rondo didnt got good ratings, even though Choi Ji Woo was in it =(

i've finish watching this series.....hey it's not bad....not boring at all....i' give 8/10 stars... damn yutaka is cute!!! can't believe he is 35 this year. he looks younger than choi ji woon, but he is sooo like a stone....x romantic at all, he does need a hair cut!

I still feel very hesitant if I want to watch this series. If I watch it, it'll probably be only for Choi Ji Woo.

really? was her acting that bad? in the movies and dramas i've seen her so far i thought her acting was one of the better ones out of many korean actresses. havent had the chance to see this one yet but the starring lineup is really impressive!

Just finished this series.. What I should say is that this series is worth watching...
I love more Choo Ji Woo and Yutaka.. in here... such a mature chemistry between them I should say...
Btw, I found that Hayami Mokomichi is damn cool and hot in here... hehe

I just watched RONDO with English subtitles and thought the series was great.
The series was fast paced and confusing initially and only focused on Yutaka
as an undercover cop, but slowed down after a few episodes and then finally
began to develop the relationship between Takenouchi Yutaka and Choi Ji Woo.

First, the last four episodes were really intense with lots of twists and turns in
the plot and subplots.
Second, too bad the director could not keep things going during the middle
episodes.
Third, too bad there were only two kisses in the whole series, but that is
typical of these dramas.
Fourth, the ending was great! Need to see more of these joint efforts between
the Koreans and Japanese.

Can't wait to see this. The lead guy has a mysterious, bad-guy look even though he's supposed to be a cop (maybe cos he's playing an undercover cop). I hope CJW's character is not a bad person cos I like her very much and hate to see her in a b*t*hy role.

this drama was such a good one..i recommend everyone who's into love stories and action to watch it...i definitely have to say that this is one of the best collaboration between japan and korea....

Hi there! Is Rondo a romance or is it more action. I love romance, but I read somewhere that Rondo is
about 80% action and only 20% romance - is this true?

it's a very very very boring series. There is no connection between ji woo and yutaka.

if you like some thriller and a little bit about romance, than, RONDO is for you.

it has been voted as one of the best japanese drama in winter and every character had some character development

if you are bored with CJW teary image or simply the clinche korean plot, this one is a goos start

at the beginning, the story focus on action packed and CJW as her usual portrayal but towards the last few episodes, her character changes so as the supporting casts

as for Yutaka, he always delivered his role so well.

and the ending is so sweet although before the ending, there is certain mixed feelings there

I will give the rate of 4.5 out of 5 star

p/s: but if you like purely romance, then definitely the story is not for you. The hero here unlike the korean drama heroes who always loving and caring,

in here, the hero portray the japanese male character realisitically as japanese seldom shows their true feelings towards others.

I am a die-hard Yukata fan. He has lost a lot of weight but his acting skill is still

superb, supreme and unchangelled, and 'YOKATA' all the way. RONDO IS A MUST

SEE FOR EVERYONE! CONGRATULATIONS TO HIM FOR ACTING SO WELL. I really

like the storyline; it is not draggy but commands your attention all the time. You

have the suspecting feeling of practically everyone capable of doing the crime, of

course, except the main male lead and his trusted buddy who died..... that is

suspense in

its purest form. I like the songs too. How to get them? RONDO is a more Japanese

package than Korean cos' the Japanese elements in it are obviously there.

YOKATA, YOKATA!!!

RONDO means dance music. It is also some form of music that produce different sound at different play. So basically, the main character in RONDO has some or two personalities in it like Yutaka act as Sho/Takumi while Choi Ji Woo act as Yoona/Sakura Ai.




It is actually a Japanese production, a Japanese drama which invite Korean stars to be the main character. Overall only Choi Ji Woo, Lee Jung Hyun, Kim Hae Sook and Shin Hyun Joon is from Korea, other than that, the PD, the script is all on the Japanese production.

About Yutaka being thin, maybe he is so workohalic that he lost his weight, and Yutaka is a very private actor, meaning to say it is very hard to get his news, the only think the his fans know that he has a Korean-Japanese girl friend named Brenda.

I've watched a no. of his series, and I'm a total 'convert' very much in Yitaka's 'ICE WORLD' acting in opposite to Nanako; still wondering where she is now and why conceal her fabulous acting talents esp. in the "Innocent Witch' and 'Beauty or Beast?', hope I got it right? The Korean actress, Choi portrayed herself better cos' her weepy character does not come into play in such great proportions in RONDO. Japanese men act tough even in the most pressing moments of their lives, not easily move to tears, right? Correct me if my statement deviates from the norm!

yeah, the Japanese usually hide their feelings, that's why it is often hard to see the japanese men crying and I agree, jiwoo portray herself much more better in RONDO than her korean series :

Counting on my not-so-good memory to help me to recall the content of the first episode. ...It's an introductory segment featuring the main leads. Okay, the gist takes u to the dark side of the underworld of secret organisations plotting to topsy-turvey the economy of future Japan. It gives you, the audience a foretaste of Yutaka's deep feeling of wanting to exact revenge on the spoilers of his life and society at large. The spoilers killed his father who died in the course of dutifully discharging his police duty and his comrade as well. He was young then but he saw the whole ugly episode before his eyes so quite naturally, he vowed to take on the spoilers with the aid of his father's trusted buddy in the PD, and let the long hands of the laws and justice take over their verdict on these so called spoilers. The Korean girl, Choi and her sister appeared , and in the wild but determined search for their father who was rumoured to be taken away by the secret organisation to do some illegal stuff very much to the dismay of the girls. There was a dog called 'Just' who cheoreographed and linked the male and female leads romantically. You will get to see the recklessly ways of the underworld in drug dispensing and eventually killing when their ways are halted by the PD. That's all I can really remember, GOMENASAI! But suspense is unfolding and unshedding itself before your very eyes, so do sample them well in the comfort of your homes!

Hope u enjoy reading my review...I must try to retrieve bits and pieces of what I had seen in Episode 2 many moons ago. What I can truly remember is the heated exchange between Yutaka and his father's friend whom Yutaka thought might have betrayed him to the underworld of secret organisations (Yakuza) after a strange incident. His mother appeared in this episode to lend extra weight to Yutaka's relationship with her; he fulfilled his filial duty well by sending home some money. His mother missed him a lot and was clueless as to where he was. Yutaka had to assume a new identity as a spy for the PD, and the atmosphere at the PD did not help a bit cos' secret information could be leaked out and his identity would be brought to light and perilous exposure.........GOMENASAI...That's as far as my memory would like to co-operate. Hope U enjoy a slice of my cake of RONDO....truly Yutaka' best

yeah, Yutaka along with Takuya Kimura is one of Japanese heartthrob in Japan, while Takuya seem more to romantic side like the story Hero, Long Vacation, Beautiful Life and etc, Yutaka is seem as a cool man and usually portray as policeman or law enforcer, that's why if the story like Proof Man, Ice World and RONDO etc, the most suitable person for the male lead is Yutaka
