I think its really cool to see the actors you'd expect to be evil in a series play a good role, like in Golden Faith with Jack and in RDOV's Mark, those 2 guys are ususally evil so it was a nice change to see them be good.
hahahaha
it really depends there are some ppl i can accept but then there is some i dont like even when they r the good guy now. for example i dont like Joe Ma or sonija kwok even though they are changing to good guys now but i still dont like them, i guess its the fact i still have memories of them in threshold of an era or perish in the name of love and where legend begins. but then some1 like gallon lo was also such a bad guy when he was in condor hero n is it cold heard warm heart as well. he was such a bad guy but now i love him well he is my favourite tvb actor with louis koo. too bad they both gone

That's true.. it really depends on people. If that actor/actress have been doing a lot of evil roles, it takes time to get use to them being a good person.
Joe Ma use to play alot of bad guy roles untill he is promoted to now become a TVB siu sung and getting lead roles

whenever i see an actor that usually plays bad roles play good roles, i keep on having a feeling that in the middle of the series they will turn into the bad guy

' but i guess its always nice to see a change in character =)
i think it is kinda of confusing something, all the time you expect them to do something bad and you are already trying to forsee it and then befoer you know it the series is over. but the overall experience get you a thrill because it makes it really hard sometimes to guess what will happen next

There are quite a good number of actors that played bad guys and good guys really well. They just have to have a certain versatility in acting and also some looks- somewhat charming looking guy. Deric Wan and Gallen Lo, Louis Koo, Nick Cheung are good examples. Even Roger Kwok did a great job as a villain in DIFIV. They shine in either good guy or bad guy roles.
But I can't buy Bobby au Yeung or Chilam as a villain. They look too nice. Joe Ma and Derek Kwok has played too many villain roles in the past, sometimes you're always wondering if their characters are really scheming behind if they play protagonist roles. One exception is Lawrence, I always think of him as the bad guy because of his past characters and his brother's past character, but his image changed after Healing Hands. See what one serie and character can do? lol
This also has to do with the popularity of the actor. If they're popular, most likely, they won't get a villain role...or they'll get a semi- villain role that is in a shade of gray area. I guess they're afraid that it would hurt the actor's image, but I think it is the opposite. Even though Sammul's character in Survivor's Law was only semi-villainish, he gained a lot of attention after that role. After all, villain characters are harder to portray and much more interesting to watch. It is a wonder why TVB hasn't done any major villains with younger actors. Look at how successful Gallen and Nick were after their villain roles.

If an actor/actrice usually plays a good char, then you tend to dislike him/her when she's not and vicde versa.

I kinda of agree with you. I really like to see bad guys turn to act good. It makes the series look interesting and made you think what will happen as connecting to the series that have been acted by the bad guys.

I think that it's a testament of how versatile these actors/actresses can be..
But it's still funny to see an actor who's a lifelong villain to suddenly play a good guy.. for example.. John Chiang in LWOLP.. I can't help but wait for him to suddenly turn bad!!

its really interesting too see an actor reverse their role. it will also show how good their abilities really are. if you still see only the role they previously played, then its a sign that they lack ability to transform into a different character. well at least this is what i look for when i watch an actor do two completely different roles. sometimes they're not convincing.

I think ppl are very cool, especially when they normally play the good roll, if they suddenly play bad roles, they seem to be very interesting... almost never disappointing

yea.. it depends.. like Sonija i thnk she can't really master good roles.
but when u come 2 think of it, most of the male actors have started frm bad guy roles.. Gallen Loh, Nick Cheung, Joe Ma, Roger Kwok.. n see their success now!! they're doing great!

it really depends on the actors/actresses because some can play both good & evil roles while others can only play one or the other. For example:
Good & evil: gallen, deric, frankie, nick, ada, marianne, roger, sheren, etc
only Evil: sonija, anne are more fitted to have evil roles
only Good: It's hard to imagine people like julian, jessica, kenix, annie, nnadia, etc to have evil roles.

there are actors that can portray both roles well...ie Gallen, Maggie, Ada, Nick....
while there are actors I just can't imagine them playing an evil role like Julian, Nnadia and Rain Lau. All of them are good actors but I don't think they will be convincing as a baddie cause they just don't have an bad/evil look to them.
