Dont you guys notice that?

I think the mixed nationality half vietnamese and half chinese is
the most famous mix in this world. There is more half viet/chin than any other
mixes in this world such as half chin/korean, chin/japanese, viet/japanese,
french/spanish, etc.. etc..

Everywhere you go, you hear of "I'm half chin/viet" more than
you hear "I'm half korean/chin, or viet/korean" and so on and so forth...

Why do u think mixed viet/chin are soo popular and why are there
soooooo many of them out there????

Imagine these half viet/chin will have their own way of living and
culture in the future.. more half chin/viet will be born, and eventually
it becomes one whole new nationality lol lol.gif

I would hate to be half viet/chin because i wouldnt know which side i would
be on most of the time.. huh.gif

And you know whats reallyyyy weird???? Mixed chinese/viet appear
to be either pretty or handsome.. lol.gif

What a phenomenon.. can anyone explain? LOL
Well, besides the fact that China ruled Vietnam for 1000 years back then..
any other theory to why there are so many cute chin/viet babies out there? hehe
and they keep on dividing and dividing smile.gif
athlon
Actually. To be honest I have never heard of half viet/half chinese before you told me.

Half white/ half chinese was more common for me.
Flabby*
LOL @ half korean half chinese, thats not common

half white and half chinese is common due to the fact the northern part of china borders with russia and soviet and china used to have a good relationship when russia was still communist.. thats the reason why theres so many half whites half chinese...
athlon
Oh and by the way.

I think it's because Vietnamese people idolize chinese culture because they watch too many TVB-series....

Like I have a weakness for Japanese girls because they are almost synonym for perfect because I grew up with anime, manga and jdorama.
My dream was to have a temple as a house in Japan biggrin.gif
starizblue
lol half white and half black was more popular for me hmm ... I dont know that many half chinese/viet..

That's true, viet/chin is the most common mix, it's more common than white/asian. It's just that eurasians are more spoke of than the mix chin/viet.

This mixture has a lot to do with the occupation of chinese of vietnam according to history. The mass migration of chinese has many reasons for they departure from their homeland. From famine, drought, corruption, richs, hope, etc.etc.

When the chinese occupied the vietnam land many hundreds and thousands of years they were focused to change their last names, so they would not be reckonize so they intergrate into their societies. As but in ancient history many of the chinese that migrated were men. therefore there weren't many chinese woman around for marriage, therefore they had to take on vietnamese woman as wives. This is pretty much the same around the world. So therefore there are alot of viets with chinese blood running in their veins.

There is also to do with geography, vietnam is very close to China, they are separate with a border, that's why there are millions of chinese living in vietnam. Therefore chinese/viet is very common, more common than chinese/japanese.

by the way don't you think mix people are good looking...heehhee, that's why lol.gif that's why they produce goodlooking children. Like Christy Chung whose, mix chinese/viet. That's why it's good to dilute the genepool to increase good genes-haha that's also my theory for lots mix chinese/viets/japanese/koreans/thais-

ahh! there ya go!

you seem like u know what ur talking about! a
i agree, and everthing seem to make perfect sense!!

well, i always knew china took over vietnam back then..
and still today, in most parts of vietnam (especially near the borderr of china),
there are actual chinese people living there and half chin/viet. also, they
can speak chinese very well. and they write in chinese as well.. chinese is very
influenced around that region... so im not suprised...

but its just weird how theres so many half chin/viet here in north america lol

i reembr reading a recent statistic where vietnam holds the most chinese
than japan, thailand, cambodia, etc...

and mixed people dont necesarrily turn out beautiful though.
i just think viet/chin mixed come out the prettiest in the aisna culture!

but i think anythingk mixed with chinese is really good. just like
kristen kreuk.. with just a mix of chinese, look how gorgeous she
turned out to be as a white mixed girl to the caucasians biggrin.gif
KSeven

::Confession::

I live in Europe smile.gif

And Kristin Kreuk is part Dutch, part Chinese, that's why there aren't many who can pronounce her name correctly biggrin.gif

Actually a mix will be looking good if they inherits the best things of both sides, but that is not always the case. The ones you see onscreen are of course the ones who got the right stuff from their parents.

If someone lessay inherits the bone structure of a caucasian, but the skin and toning of an asian, she or he'd look much younger than a normal caucasian.

I know someone who inherited the shortness of an asian, and the skin of a caucasian though.... he look slike 30 while he's only 18... and very short.

i've met more black/white and white/chinese people.

i never even realized viet/chinese mix was that common until i came to this site last year... blink.gif
timpest
To me, most viet/chinese look the same as though they're pure chinese or viet.
dOpeyme
I think people who are mixed are hot. They have those nice looking eyes. Especially if they're half white and half something else...Woo. lol
Endless
yep yep my dad has this friend and he's korean..and his wife is white..their children are soo pretty they have dimples and pretty eyes and nice skin color too
Droplets
My whole life, I've been confused about my nationality lol.
and I've argued with friends about it.
Some say if you're born in a country then you're that race.
Anywayz I was born in Vietnam, But heck I don't know any vietnamese
and my whole family speaks chinese, though some of them knows vietnamese because they lived there for a period of time.
I call myself chinese.
Maybe I came here early therefore I didnt have a chance to learn vietnamese. Let's say I stayed in vietnam long enough, and then boom! I know vietnamese, Does that mean I'm then half half? hehe happy.gif'
xXAznCutiexX
I THINK SO ..UR HALF AND HALF !!! I SOMETIME GET COMFUSED 2 ..I WERE BORN IN VN SAME AS U ..happy.gif
schizophreak
Nationality and race are totally different thing. I'm a chinese and a Malaysian.

In Malaysia we have 3 main races, Chinese Malay and Indians..plus lots more minority ones. But nationality...Malaysian.

But this nationality/race mindset is changing over here..we don't call ourselves Chinese/malay/indian so often as last time anymore...we are all now Malaysians..no matter what race you are...this is one of the ways to unite all the races over here..

I was born in Xi'an, China, so im Chinese. Now im living in norway

You really from Xi'an?
I have just been to Xi'an this summer...

Anyway, My father is from Macau and my mom is from Hong Kong.
So I have 2 ID cards of both cities and I will get a Portugal passport within 1 year.....
Tumby_tum
Hey Snowyswan, I am like you as well. I was born in Vietnam and stayed there for 9 years. However, my whole family don't know how to speak Vietnamese. Both of my parents were from China and we only speak Cantonese. I don't consider myself Vietnamese even though I was born there. If people ask me, I will say that I am Chinese. Now I am a Canadian!! Hehehe...
Isabel
that really depends on u.. cos its the opposite for me.. i was born in the phils & lived here all my life so i take pride in saying im filipino.. however, by blood, im only like 15% or less..
Zyphere
I was born in Canada; my dad was born in China and my mom Vietnam. My parents met/married each other in Vietnam, but even though my mom was born there she speaks Chinese more than Vietnamese.
Although technically I'm half and half, when people ask I tell them I'm Chinese.
~^_^~BuNbUn~^_^~
I'm half chinese and half filipino... My mom is 3/4 chinese and 1/4 filipino while my dad is 1/4 filipino and 3/4 chinese.. But I looke more like a filipino because I have brown skin and not so small eyes... I'm also living in the Philippines... My surname is SYLIM and they say it's chinese... My dad told me it was supposed to be just SY but the registration of my great grandfather's name got mixed up...

My middle name is Dugay which is my great grandmother's maiden name... They say that's the way it is in Chinese culture...

I can't tell you more about my family name's history because it's so long...
~^_^~BuNbUn~^_^~
In the History, it is said that Chinese people travelled the world to bring influences and their cultures... At least, they came her in the Philippines... Another is that Chinese people has the most number of people to go to other countries and workand start their own family... I don't about Vietnamese...
lil_cute_hamster
i'm not exactly half vietnamese/chinese, because i dunno any viet except count to 10... and i only speak cantonese fluently at home... i seriously dunno why so many half viet/chinese in this world... gotta ask my parents that question... keke..

I thought Hk was more influenced by the british. It was a british colony and vietnam is more influenced by french people that's why some viet people have french blood in them.
ccchen
I didn't know that half viet and half chinese are that common...but personally i think half white/ half chinese was more common.
Exile
In fact...I AM chin/viet loool.gif . Not half though, my mom's half half. I am 1/4 happy.gif' .

The answer to this question is quite simple. I asked my mom why i wasn't full viet/chin when i was a kid innocent.gif . It was because many Chinese came to live in Vietnam for awhile to escape the Commies or something. They fled China. But then they had to flee Vietnam afterwards too. I guess that's the answer. They learn the language, then marry like normal people.

I look Chinese whilst my older sister looks pure Viet. It really depends I guess. When my mom was younger she looked Chinese, now she looks more Viet but still Chinese. My gran who is Chinese looks pure Chinese lol...Kinda obvious? I have smaller eyes...with no-double eyelids dry.gif , and my sis has large eyes. My older bro looks Chin too. Dunno, I like the way I look. Not pretty, not ugly. Just normal blush .

I am not confused with my nationality at all though. I am Viet/Chinese. Therefore I will endulge myself in both cultures. I already know Viet so well, so it's time I learn Canto. And I am learning. Now I need to learn how to write in btoh languages. Pretty simple in Viet, gonna be hell in Chinese. But I am a dedicated person. Even if it takes my whole life, I will be happy hwen I accomplish it.
candy.rain
wen ppl ask me wat nationality i am i answer them im chinese. even though i was born in australia and lived here all my life and dont have china passport but i call myself chinese because my parents are from there. but im not sure wat nationality to call myself??? o.O
Ran Mouri
i was born in holland but i am chinese my parents are born in kuang chou so they are 100% chinese and...so i am 100% chinese too
riseandshine
My friend was born here but his parents are each half chinese and half viet. However, he speaks more cantonese than vietnamese. He considers himself half and half, so i guess you are half of each too.

I´m 1/5 japanese.
My grandfather his grandfather is japanese, but i´m chinese and speak chinese.
And i can´t speak japanese!! huh.gif
quirrlinchen
The origins of my family are in Shanghai/Ninbo. My parents came from Hongkong. I was born in Germany, I am living in Germany, I am holding a German Passport and this year I have got the HK permanent ID-Card...
I think I feel more like a German than a Chinese. To say it in my cousin's words: You are a banana! You're yellow outside and white inside!
n0rth_s34
Same with Exile, technically I'm 1/4 chinese + 3/4 vietnamese if you calculate it that way. But really, I'm pure Viet in culture and looks-wise.

I also asked my dad about China and he said that China once invaded Vietnam and ordered to have the vn men killed, raped the women and/or married them off so that's why there are so many chinese/viet mix...(?) *shrugs*
SiNergy
What I have heard was that my grandparents had to fled china(Guangdong) due to poverty, my father on the other hand had to fled vietnam due to the war. I am a second generation chinese born in vietnam, my mother is part chinese how many I don't know. I only got viet culture with me so I tend to proclaime myself as viet, but most people keeps on forgetting it an keep talking to me in cantonees so I am trying to learn the language so I can finally understand what they are saying to me. People still mistakes me for a chinese eventhough I have double eyelids happy.gif'
inv4zn
lol!!
hahaa dude im half chink half viet hahaahah....
my parents both came to australia and knew each other...
its also because a large proportion of vietnamese people have a chinese origin... like my dad (whose the viet side) also knows how to speak cantonese and mandarin as well as vietnamese....
SiNergy
There are also a lot of chinese immigrants in the south(where I came from), who starts their business there and decide to stay, eventually a lot of them end up married to viet girls. The first to migrate to america are usually the people who don't feel attached to the country, thus the half chinees/vietnamees migrates enmasse to the US. I guess most of them end up somewhere the west coast like my aunt, somewhere in california(Anaheim) as well as another uncle of mine(San Jose).
mayo
yea i noticed that they're are a lot of half chinese half viet people. Two of my friends are chinese but they;re family was from vietnam..

Anyone here having a same kind of a situation as I do? My gf is vietnamese and I was wondering: What will our childrens' names be? blink.gif Viet or Finnish or English or what laugh.gif
And another question to those who know some genetics: What kind of a hair and eyes will they have? Similar to mother or to me or both blush

(I wonder what her parents might think when they get to know about this innocent.gif )
juicy
most mixed kids (asian and causian) that i have seen have been beautiful. for example look up kristin kreuk (lanna lane from smallville) she's half chinese half dutch and she's gorgeous
blahblahblah
both my cousin on dad's side r half irish and half chinese, and most of my third cousins r half. so i'd say u should name them english names.
the genetics depends on both ur's and her's dominant genes and resessive genes. create mendel square. those r fun.
tho he or she mostly likely have asian almond shaped eyes.
lover
what your children will look like will entirely depend on your and her genetics. Punnet square will give you probable percentage of the genes that your children will probably possess but it does necessarily mean the outcome will be that. e.g if you're children=25%golden eyes 25%green eyes 50% brown eyes 50% hazel eyes. The percentage for your children to have brown eyes or hazel eyes will be higher since the percentage is 50%.

Your children's name of course will have the fathers' surname, so why not have a Finnish first name and have a english and viet middle name? cool.gif Just a recommendation.
heykki
Thanks for you guys clapping.gif Better get doing those mendel squares or whatever it was. If they're really gonna look like kristin kreuk... Oh my god laugh.gif As long as they're gonna have her eyes... worship.gif
MicroT13
As for last names, you can always go for hyphenated last names. Like (mother's maiden name)-(father's surname).
