just the info i get from Tw fans. Tw tv weekday 8p.m. is dominated by the older generation of viewers, so most tv stations will film & broadcast low budget TW soap operas which runs to 300-400 episodes for this group of viewers to watch. these soap operas are seldom shown outside of TW market due to lack of demand overseas, most of its actors/actress are only known in Tw. so a lot of younger Tw viewers are no longer into 8pm timeslot. which is why most idol dramas such as Silence, Smile Paste, Prince Turn to Frog, etc, are shown during weekend nites where they can easily get ratings of 4 & above as there are no TW soap operas being shown.
what CTV is doing is airing non soap operas during its 8pm timeslot to get back younger viewers & to change the general public thinking that all tv station 8pm timeslot is showing soap operas. its a very slow & hard battle but CTV has some success in getting the younger viewers to its 8pm timeslot. before The Hospital, CTV showed at its 8pm timeslot a Mainland China martial art tv serial, the response from the younger viewers were there. TH is the 2nd non soap operas to be shown by CTV at its 8pm slot.
so do not be disappointed if TH does not come out tops in the ratings of the 8pm weekdays. as long as it manage to fulfil the target of CTV & Director Chai of getting back younger viewers to 8pm, that is already a victory. so far as what been informed by Tw fans, amongst the 3-4 Tw soap operas currently showing at 8pm, the highest rating is at 6 plus point (Unforgettable Wish). if TH, a non soap opera, can get 2 & above, its already considered good.
the ratings for the 1st episode of TH is 2.35 which's good considered its a non-soap operas. but definitely the newspaper will make comparisons with the existing soap operas which is now in the hundreth of epsodes. btw, the ratings for episode 2 is slightly higher than episode 1, cld be the quality of TH is attracting more attn of younger viewers. when Jerry was asked abt the ratings, he said for him its more important that TH is recognised as an outstanding drama.

Thanks so much for your info, it's really clearing my wonder.
However, I'm afraid that TW media will not consider this reason and keep state that TH is not good, Jerry Yan is not powerful ...etc... Which is not the true and I hope most people will think over all the reasons before believe it.
On the other hands, TH is a high budget film, why CTV dare to show it at this time slot if they already know that it's hard to compete. Won't they loss?????
BTW, really look forward to see how Su Yi Hua turn off his happy doctor image. Su is a very cute&lively doctor these episodes!
