This was a really different show from the usual 'idol' dramas that we watch and I watched it for Jerry but was pleasantly surprised by the great plot.

It's a bit more complicated than the usual happy shows I watch but it really shows the struggles in working in a hospital and all the grey areas in life that exist.

It seems that a lot of people here seem to think that Janine and Jerry still loved each other at the end but couldn't be together.

However, I think that while Jerry really loved Janine it seemed like her character never really quite loved him that much. She was only returning his affections but she never seemed to really demonstrate that much romantic love towards him.

I thought his wife deserved him a lot more and I was happy they ended up together and I'm glad that the last visit by Janine made him realize he needed to treasure what he had in front of him instead of always looking back at the past.

Someone commented that this show is really about the development of each character and how each found their 'happiness' or 'peace'. I think that really describes my feelings toward the show too. It was a lot more realistic than most shows in that it shows that there aren't always happy endings...but we need to make the best of what happens instead of being stuck in a rut.

I also don't undertand how leon dai's character could love his kid so much but not accept the baby the reporter had...

It seemed that everyone in this show was running away from something but at the end most of them learned to face their problems

The Hospital in not an idol drama..so its not based
solely on the love story theme...the plot really varies..
tat's what make its more intersting to watch..so many

In CTV's The Hospital, which aired Ding Ning's bare back at a bed scene and Leon Dai with Yang Jin Hua's hot sex scene, promted NCC to sanction the producers with NT$18,000 penalties. Yesterday, Director Cai Yue Xun issued a statement from California, USA saying the NCC distorted the artpiece and threy were imporperly sanctioned, making him feel discouraged at the Taiwanese community.

The statement said that the NCC ruling on santioning the Ding Ning bed scene and also other violations on the TV station's rules, made Yang Ming TV and Films Group guilty. NCC strongly presented that they had violated good customs and the investigative committee concluded that it became a porno film. Cai Yue Xun criticized, " This is a type that they only viewed on the surface, so their self-judgement destroyed the creative action. "

Cai Yue Xun also said that Taiwan is now experiencing recession. The government goes after the producers and the TV stations to impose restrictions, sanctions and " indulging in real crisis and not granting any process" unlike in California, where TV and films enjoy freedom and progress.

He also said that he will no longer appeal for the decision, as he wont waste time in acknowledging NCC on giving sanctions. He said, "From now on, they cant stop or kill us in wanting to seriously create, with our drama shots following the Asian and International standards. "

I don't like this series very much .... its full of sadness & people death. I can't believe how corrupted some doctors are. The only reason i'm still watching this series is b/c of Jerry's dazzling smile. He made watching this rather boring drama worthwhile. Jerry is so CUTE altho he doesn't look like a doctor at all. He didn't play the doctor role very convincing IMO but his look/smile is just to die for.

Today, HK Apple Daily had a chart of some major dramas which will be broadcasted on HK TVB in 2007, and The Hospital is one of them. Among the ones listed, other than The Hospital and another drama from Mainland China, all of them are produced by HK TVB. As almost all dramas broadcasted on the TVB paid channel are foreign dramas from Korea/Japan, if not mistaken, The Hosptial should be broadcasted on the public channel of HK TVB, whose ratings are dominant in HK.

I have few episodes of The Hospital in Chinese and I'm looking for English subtitles. This seems like a good series. My fav F4 is Vic Chou but I'm attractive by Jerry too. I like his hair and his funny role in MEteor garden so I wonder what charateristic he has in this series.

I love this movie very muchhhhhhhhhhhhh...... because I love jerry yan very much... and i love agnes monica... the indonesian artist... i think she is quite good... it is a major breakthrough for her...
jerry and the other girl makes a good couple at that movie... i love her wedding dress..

Ok, i just finished watching this drama!

My impressions

I was really captivated by the first episode - partly because I wanted to see how badly jerry's acting was, especially considering he would be playing a character so markedly in contrast to Dao Ming Si (from Meteor Garden).

However, I was surprised to find that despite the restricted range of affect demonstrated throughout the whole 39 episodes, Jerry had, in general, really captured the personality of his character.... even though i still cannot envisage him as a close to 40-yr-old head of surgeon.

I must say, the most impressive aspect of the drama for me was the impecable acting prowess of Leon Dai... the guy is a freak show of emotions and subtle innuendos at the whisk of an eyebrow... Despite his 'supporting' role, i felt it was his presence that really kept the show's momentum going, not to mention the professionalism he brings to the show. If only he spoke enough english to make him exportable to Hollywood...

Aspects i didn't quite enjoy - the last few episodes seemed to lose its trajectory - especially disturbing was the grotesque and highly out of place change in Jerry's personality following his marriage. Perhaps it was due to the overacting... and though I understood what the director was trying to capture, it just seemed 太过分了...

Nonetheless, The Hospital showed very real potential in what taiwanese drama still has to offer - in terms of producing a quality dramatic show... one that rivals any k-drama...

so were you disappointed not to see jerry make a mess of it?
i think his role is not really the close to the 40 yr. old surgeon, the story says says he is the youngest med. professor out there~
so, even though he's not 30 in real life, it's ok to be playing a 35 yr old doctor~



Leon Dai, if only he gets the same high caliber projects or movies like Andy Lau or Tony Leung does, i think he can do better than them~
he's really a true gem of TW industry!



actually, its the end part that i enjoyed the most!
i dunno, but the change in character is what really strikes me~

and i agree, it's one of those TW drama that can rival/ outshine big Korean dramas~
i am so sure this series is going to get in the priority list/ main focus of the local Phil network when they broadcast it!
they don't really show TW dramas in primetime, though they did an exception w/ Meteor Garden~

Hmm, I found this a very intense and emotional drama. Jerry's acting has definitely improved compared to his Meteor Garden days. Although certain parts of the show were a bit draggy, overall it's very well produced. Most of the acting here are really solid, esp. Leon Dai and Ng Man Tat.

This drama revolves more around the power struggle among the doctors for a prominent position in the hospital. I've always regarded the medical profession to be one of the most respected and trustworthy profession but after watching this drama, it make me wonder if there is any truth to it esp. the part about the doctors being corrupted and the intense competition and power struggle to become head of departments.

At the end of the day, we find that all the power struggle comes to naught. Almost all of the doctors in this drama end up having not too good an ending in life or not able to have the one thing that they desired most in their life. It really makes us wonder if it is worth it to push ourselves to join in the rat race in our daily lives.

Although I was disappointed that Guan Xin did not end up with Su Yi Hua, I liked the last part when she wrote the letter to him explaining why she disappeared for that whole year. What she said has left a deep impression on me. The real courage is to be able to let go of all that most people deemed are important in life, like wealth and position, in order to find the simpler things in life like happiness and fulfilment. How many of us have the courage to do that? I wonder....

Yes I think the ending was very different from most..

It left a deep impression on me because usually in these shows they end up with the 'love of their life' but in this one they learned to let go...

At first I was really surprised that Guan Xin could just let it all go like that and come back so changed...I'm glad they both ended up with good partners in the end. There was too much history with GX and YH anyways.

I think the message was really that sometimes we spend all this time chasing after this dream or what we think is our ideal but in the end you lose the passion that motivated you to start with. It gets easier and easier to lose yourself in the hustling and bustling of city life.

In the end it was like Guan Xin allowed Yi Hua to let go of his burdens and start to dream again and believe.. =)

yeap..i think she's great and has a lot of potential ..when u can make ppl hate and like u in certain acting..i thinks its good..she sure make a lot of ppl debate on her role as Guan Xing..

btw..she's not a newcomer in the industry..shes been acting before but not quite been known..until The Hospital..she make the name through tis series and now been sought for new acting drama as well as by various company for product/fashion endorsement.the latest i heard is tat SK beauty product is targetting her.

yeah this series is really good. i watched it beacuse i am still kind of f4 obsessed from meteor garden but this is really different and i'm really glad i watched it. jerry wanted to show that he was a serious actor and this shows his improvement. this series taught me alot about life (because it is serious) so yeah it's really different from meteor garden but definitely recommended.

i noticed that song from that episode Mzu described, it really made the scenes more touching, and i felt more heartbroken..
but when that was being played, it kinda made me feel yi hua was gonna catch up w/ guan xin..
