You know, one of the things I'd noticed about Singaporean and Malaysian singers is that they become famous only after they'd gone to TWN or move their base to TWN, repackage themselves etc... even though they have been in their local industry (Singapore/Malaysia) for quite a few years. Anyone noticed the same thing?

off-topic ish but . . .
she sure speaks some good mandarin for a half white girl.
her mando pronounciation is better than mine.
and dont singaporean people have like different mando talking, it sounds more bootlegish?
like different from the taiwan people? but her mando sounds more like the taiwan speaking people mando than the singaporean people speaking mando.
sorry if my ^ sounds confusing, i`m gon confuse myself also. lol

nope. her dad's italian and something else and her mum is taiwanese. and she grew up in taiwan so even though she's half white, she has been speaking mando probably all her life. this explains why she speaks it so well.

Hmm... well, I have't been to Taiwan in a while, but all the "Heavenly Kings" (the only ones missing from your list are Leon Lai and Aaron Kwok) used to be mega-popular in Taiwan-- I think they've since stopped coming. Daniel Chan was popular for a while; Eric Suen, also, mostly stars in Taiwan dramas now, but I guess most people have forgotten he got his start as a singer in Taiwan. Also, Gigi Leung was pretty popular, last I heard, and Leo Ku was popular for a while (around the time of QSSYMM). Emil Chau, if he's still around, mainly stayed in Taiwan, but he isn't native; I think he's from HK. I heard from my mom that Tsai Kang Yong (host of Kang Xi Lai Le, among many others) is actually a native of HK.

Haha.. My friends and I were just discussing this a few days ago. You can NEVER start an entertainment in Singapore lor. Look at all the singapore local artistes, few of them have made it pass Singapore after so long lor.. Sun Yan Zi, Lin JJ etc all only became famous after leaving Singapore to develop their entertainment career. Its probably cuz Singapore's too small and not really the focus of the world.
Be it Modelling, acting, singing.. It all can't be started in Singapore cuz you won't get world famous in that case haha...
Lara of Nan Quan MaMa? She's half russian and chinese I think.
Joi from Singapore, the one who sings Bu Pa Bu Pa

I might be mistaken, but I thought Lara attended an international school or something in Taiwan, so it doesn't really count? She might have been born in the U.S. or something, though...

Actually a lot of these singers from Singapore, Malaysia etc STARTED their career in Taiwan (and a lot of them are doing really well there

). So it's not really like they've been in their local industry for a while before moving to Taiwan. (I'm thinking of people like Stef, JJ Lin etc so maybe there are others that have actually been in their own industry for a while?)
