Yeah I read from soompi that the series is something similiar to robinhood where a chivalrous bandit during the Joseon Dynasty robs corrupt government officials to feed the poor. Iljime, the hero, leaves a wooden branch from a plum tree at the site of each robbery to take responsibility for the robberies and to protect others.
The drama is schedule to debut around March 2008 in SBS. The story is based on a manga & Jang Dong Gun had filmed it before in 1990s at MBC. Anyway the drama is around 20 eps & Lee Moon Sik (from Fly Daddy Fly) & Park Si Ho will be the cast of the show also. Eagerly waiting for the series. ^^

This piece of news confirmed the unofficial news I posted earlier about Lee Jun Ki signing with Yin Wang (Emperor) to enter the Chinese markets.

I have taken the liberty to include the pinyin for Mandarin (standarized pronunciation) and Cantonese (no standardised phonetics yet) to get an idea of the tongue twister that Charlene Choi gave to Lee Jun Ki without him knowing earlier.

(Hong Kong) Lee Jun Ki who through “The King and The Clown” became popular in Asia, enters the Chinese market as his next step. The day before yesterday with HK$10 million worth (contract) he signed with Emperor Group of Hong Kong and formally enters the Greater China region´s entertainment arena.

In order to cohesively rally around Lee Jun Ki´s Asia and other area´s fans, Emperor, not only created his official fan club but also tailor made the website. Rumour has it that Lee Jun Ki will sing Chinese songs with Twins and also Ah Sa (Charlene Choi from Twins) gave him a Chinese wind breaker as a welcoming gift to Lee Jun Ki as her junior.

Ah Kew (Gillian Chung from the Twins) also taught Lee Jun Ki tai chi. Lee Jun Ki assumed Chinese martial arts posture for reporters to snap photos. Also taught, Lee Jun Ki to say “I love you (Wo ai ni)” in Mandarin to the fans. But Lee Jun Ki has long known that, so Ah Sa quickly changed to Cantonese and said “I love you (ngo ngoi le)” and give him a tongue twister “Dig (for) gold, dig (for) bone, dig (for) chicken bone (kwut kam kwut kuwut kwut kai kuwut” to pull his leg (make a fool of him). Thereafter, Ah Sa then told him that she wanted to make fun of him and that Lee Jun Ki has aptitude for mastering Cantonese.

Lee Jun Ki who rose to stardom with his feminine clown role in "The King and the Clown" is returning to a historical drama series in an opposite persona.

Lee Jun Ki has been cast as the leading role in "Iljimae" a 20 episode historical drama series to be aired on SBS. He will display his strong charisma through 'Iljimae' who is considered a chivalrous robber of the time.

Lee Jun Ki's manager Kim Woo Jin commented, "He has selected characters that emphasized his manliness since 'The King and the Clown' and this character seems to be at the peak of his efforts."

In the drama series "Iljimae," Lee Jun Ki will play a character who acts as a usless gangster in the marketplace by day and a chivalrous robber by night.

The series will start filming in November with a location shoot in China as well.

According to Mentor Entertainment, where Lee Joon Ki belongs to, Lee Joon Ki recently agreed to hire EEG (Emperor Entertainment Group) to be his management company in Chinese market. EEG, division of Emperor Group, is an entertainment management company with Jackie Chan, Joey Yung and a group called Twins. Emperor group also owns a film production called JCE.

Lee Joon Ki is seeking a way to get into the Chinese market by holding an autograph event in Beijing, Hong Kong and Taiwan, said the officials from Mentor Entertainment.

It was also interested by foreign news reporters. AP, reported from Hong Kong, reported that Lee Joon Ki has signed up with EEG and had the autograph event in Hong Kong on October 2nd, sitting on a throne just like his movie, 'King and I'.

AP also reported that Lee's performance fee for this event was around 1,3 million U.S. dollars but EEG never confirmed it.

EEG would start Lee's career in Chinese market by starting with movies. Lee recently appeared as a National Intelligence Service Agent of Korea in 'The time of dog and the wolf'

HONOLULU: The 27th Annual Louis Vuitton Hawaii International Film Festival (HIFF), the premier international film event in the Pacific that is set for October 18 - 28 on Oahu will award its RISING STAR to South Korean actor, singer and model, Lee Jun-ki. HIFF will also have US premiere of the new movie he stars in (title TBD).

Lee Jun-ki started his career as a model and held minor roles in Korean dramas. His first major acting and award-winning role came in 2005 in THE KING AND THE CLOWN, which became the highest grossing South Korean-made movie and most-watched film in Korean history. His other films include: FLY, DADDY, FLY; FLYING BOYS; THE MAGNIFICENT TRIP; and THE HOTEL VENUS. Television dramas include: STAR'S ECHO; WHAT SHOULD I DO; MY GIRL; and TIME BETWEEN DOG AND WOLF. My sister who doesn't even like Junki(I kinda forced her to watch the time between the dog and wolf ,te hee), said even nastier things about her.I don't see any of the things you mentioned above about nam sang mi, but hey it's probably just me who see and think of her that way.

yeah, i agree w/ you. i think it'd be kinda weird if junki played such a traditional chinese folk tale. he would have to learn a lot of old traditional chinese vocabulary, and in cantonese, which is going to be extremely hard for him. cantonese pronunciations are really hard to learn for a foreigner. i think he'd better just act in a modern movie. but won't he start filming another korean drama next month? how will he hv time to film in hk then? i think it's gonna take a while until we can see him in a hk production.

Nii: Fly, Daddy, Fly isn't comedy. it tells of this father who can't face his daughter for some reason that i had forgotten. basically, he's like a loser dad. then in order not to continue being a loser, he asked the help of junki's character to help him shape up so that he'll be a father that his daughter is proud of. in this movie, you'll see junki's serious side. his character is someone with a bad past...if i'm not mistaken. i don't remember seeing him smile in this movie. it's been a while since i last saw this movie.
