imo roger and charmaine ARE from the same generation. roger doesn't really look that bad and i actually think they match in Herbalist's Affair.. so it's nice to see them together again in Pearl of Orient.

Oh, Range, when I said travel magazine, I do mean a show on TV. TVB has many those travel shows, just that we call it travel magazine here.

Hey, what's wrong with a young couple getting married soon and walk around looking for apartments? I don't think it has to be an old couple to look for real estate. In fact, in the last few years our real estate market here in Vancouver have targeted the first time buyers who are young couples or the young professionals. Afterall, we want to see them as a couple, right? So, what's more sweet than seeing them as man and wife in ads?

I really don't mind whether Roger is from same or different generation from Charmaine. What I am saying is, TVB has no definite rules to pair people up. Bowie, Roger and Bobby are all more experieced actors, but Bowie worked with Charm like 3 times in 3 years (WAB, AR, DOP), Roger - twice in what? 5 years? and Bobby just 2 times? and it has been like 4,5 years as well since their last collaboration. Actually, I can't think of actors in the same generation (meaning years in acting) with Charm. Even Chilam is her older generation since he started early. Maybe Joe Ma, Gordon Lam, Steven Ma and Benny Chan loh. Ray, Bosco, Sammuel etc. are all the newer "generation". As for Kevin and Moses, I am not sure lah - they started their show biz career early, but relatively new in HK TV scene.

I know the so called long grand productions usually are a drag, BUT, it is s symbol of status loh, so I think it is still good to be in it. Actually these grand productions used to be really really good with all the best artistes and excellent plot and production. Just that the standards have dropped in the last couple years.

After giving it some more thought - yes. travel magazine show will be a good solution for now. Yes, I would love to see them on some romantic getaways, maybe mediterrean like the Greek Islands, or Cannes, Monte Carlo or Naples....with a romantic MV...can you imagine what it will be like sipping wine at the the French Riveria, or strolling on the cobblestone alleys marvelling at the buildings with the little balconys decorated with flowers and the remarkable architectural details. Just like Range said, age difference won't be a matter and everyone can be quiet about it.

Yeah, I suppose we can try to analyze it according to genre. As Charm is more on the "drama department" or "ancient department", I would think the chance for Charray will be higher then since Ray is definitely in the "ancient department".

How come the forum is so quiet? Ok, let me ask a question - has anyone seen LFD whiich is currently running on TVB HK? Ray is absolutely CUTE in it! I have almost fainted when he winks!!!! It also talks about him in love with his ex-private tutor, who is like 5 or 6 years older than him. How do you compare the Melissa-Ray couple to Charray?

I suppose since this is a comedy that's why there are less "inner emotional" scenes, so I find their eye contact is much less than Charray in LWOLAP. I maybe biased, but I find the chemistry between MR is much lacking when compared to Charray. Definitely no electric eyes between them. Partly it is because the story stress that it is a "old wife young husband" situation, so their age, attitude and style differences are highlighted, that's why I do find them an odd couple. But, I really enjoy this series though. Highly recommed you guys to watch it.

And DOP is another series that I am really looking forward to since I am a Charmaine fan. I doubt if I will like the Mocha pair, since Charray and Charlian are so perfect. I doubt if any pairing could top them. Very soon, we will know.

hm.. i do'nt think they fit as a pair .. they might be good for brothers and sisters..but as lovers? nah..

to myhelen: yea i've watched LFD; currently in episode 7 now. actually the main focus of this series isn't towards ray-melissa's relationship, rather about women struggling with life.. the series barely reaches its 2nd half; so lack of chemistry so far isn't really a prob..

Wow, a travel show! Imagine, they will have a much more personal interaction, other than just being a whole new person and immerse themselves in their particular characters. We get to see more of themselves and how they interact! And your descriptions are so vivid Helen! I think I would like them to visit Rome, where they go around visiting the historical places and viewing the artifacts and joking around. It has a romantic aura, but a very intimate sort of communication as well (joking around)!

I consider Jessica in the comedy department. Because basically I don't find most of her series DRAMAS. Golden Faith? Not exactly. Hmm, what else. Anyways, she's more to the light-hearted genre if not comedy.

And yep, the ancient genre at least! Both of them have awesome emotional skills, so they would have at least a somewhat bigger chance of ending up in a series together!

LFD, I watched it! In episode 2, Raymond HUMMED and I SWOONED. LOL, Ray's my favourite actor and he's such a heart-throb in LFD. About the Melissa and Raymond chemistry, I don't really see much.

1) Melissa looks very tall and lean. When I imagine them together, I always see in my mind's eye that Melissa is taller than Raymond. But in fact Raymond's the taller one .

2) Melissa seems to be treating Raymond like a younger brother herself. It's not her character but the way Melissa talks to Raymond in the series just makes me think so.

as for Raymond & Melissa, definitely better than i expected. it wasn't the older woman-younger man relationship that made me doubted at first, but more of the fact that i never thought Melissa had much chemistry with any of her costars (aside from Bowie). so yeah, definitely better than i expected.
their chemistry and story is too different from Charray's to compare. however, i think it is easier for people who are 'neutral' towards both Charray & RayMel to accept RayMel because 1) she is supposed to be older in the series 2) their story is quite comedic and usually comedies are more easily likeable

You must NOT hurt Tsun Mung Yiu!" My heart was actually dancing in excitement and happiness! His looks, his eyes, his words, his love, his passion are all shown so MANLY ....AHHH it captures my heart!!!

Last week tape is the best tape so far for me.....Sigh..i love it...From the music to the character and to the storyline...one word====PERFECT! Bosco is soo adorable telling Sharon to hit him everytime he's thinking of a perverted thought! And Power is soo sweet when he told Raymond not to hurt Charm or esle I will not let u off....And Charm....she is so angelic in that ligh yellow outfit! She looks so young and elegant! Love it...And recently she even wore the same color to the DOP premiere! I love her in light yellow!!

And its no fair, I want to watch LFD too, since the screencaps of Raymond is absolutely CUTE!! ROAR!!

Also, i agree with Bao here, Raymel might be more acceptable since comedies most of the time capture the viewers' love and attention more easily ...

I agree with Jupi that with period costumes it is easier to "hide" the actual with the help of costumes, makeup and hairstyle and ancient or period dramas give us more room for creativity and imagination. However, I am quite ok with Charray in YY. With the proper haristyle and outfit, e.g. wear suit and act cool, Ray can definitely show us the more mature "manly" side even in modern series. But then, Charmaine can be very cute too. So, I think it will be ok even if they are in modern series. It really depends on the character and the image consultant loh.

Yeah, Alice, LWOLAP is so good that I really can't find words to describe. The Charray chemistry is so strong, Ray's electric eyes and expressive eyes are so mesmerizing. Ray in LWOLAP is totally different from LFD. In LWOLAP, he is very mature, man, introverted and sentimental. In LFD, he is cute, outgoing, always positive and cheerful and a bit naive. In LWOLAP, when Ray gives you those "deeply in love" looks, you will feel that he is looking at Charm and he really means it although you can only see his closeup on screen. But when I watch LFD, I just don't feel that he is looking at Melissa. I cannot really find the kind of chemistry between Ray and Melissa. I won't blame them becuase this has to do with the storyline, character and genre of the drama. Oh well, or maybe I am just too addicted to Charray!

Regarding their chemistry in Yummy Yummy, I couldn't really see the couple-ness, because Charmaine is obviously not surrendering to Raymond's attempts to woo her . So it's the story actually. I agree that they have chemistry as friends in there. But I really enjoyed their scenes together in YY. Very funny, and I don't know why but somehow thinking of Ngo Siu and Mandy together gives me this special sensation. A pleasant one.

I still want to see Charray in a modern drama series. We have already seen them in an ancient series and a comedy, so I want to see them in a modern drama. But, for the purpose of good ratings and noise level, I think comedy is a better choice. Usually comedies have higher ratings in HK as the see lais there love light hearted comedies.

You know, I think Charm really doesn't look any older than Raymond. So, if these people's mindset is on the age thing, they will always say that, no matter what series you are in, unless it is like LFD, when they say it up front that it IS a big sister-young brother love affair.

i dont really think we will see charray in a modern drama together.. simply because LWOLAP had bad ratings.. in this way tvb wont take note of charray...

If the drama series have good ratings, then the chance of having the same pairings are more likely. E.g. Square Pegs I and II, WAB-DOP, Healing Hands, the File of Justice etc. BUT, TVB is really hard to predict. E.g. SAH is still sitting on the shelves, but they are pairing Joe Ma and Charm again in PQ. So, Charray fans, DON"T give up your hope! If we think hard enough, we might get our wish!

Oh Alice, bring a BOX of tissue when you watch that Pong Bang dying scene. It is the last part of a 3-part crying series. I suppose you have read all our earlier LWOLAP posts right? If not, SPOILERS BELOW



First, Charm stab Ray, then Ray died, and lastly Pong died to rescue Ray. I cried soo hard, especially when Pong died. It quite surprised me. I suppose it is the build up from how Ray sacrified himself, how hurt Charm is then how noble Pong Bang is. A little off topic here - I have asked myself if Pong did this because he knows that FHL will truly build up the Mongolian empire only if he feels that he owes Pong, so that Pong died for his ideal OR he truly loves Ray as his master and he is so loyal and wants to save Ray's life?

Anyway, when I watch it, I feel that Pong loves Ray almost like a son, and he truly wish him well. But I just can't help have another thought in the back of my mind since Pong is a very idealistic and scheming guy.

Yes, maybe I am biased, but I really find it quite awkward watching Ray and Melissa. As Range said Ray is too playful and Mel is too traditional and timid. Both the personality and looks just don't match. Not convincing at all. I don't think they can really immerse themselve into the characters. so, how could they have chemistry? Again, I am probably biased since no chemistry can top Charray and Charlian!

Hmm.. Acutally I find the scene where Sonija died really sad.. I cried like crazy! When PB died, I couldn't stop laughing.. Dunno, the scene felt weird to me..

Ah.. You guys dislike RayMel (if I'm not wrong).. But I totally loveee them.. They are so extremely cute together. I think they got chemistry. .
I see it in this way: Charray (FHL and CMY) = romantic, superb chemistry. But RayMel (Siu Chai and Ko Ling) = cute, great chemistry.
I think I shouldn't say all these things in a Charray thread lol

Oh don't get me wrong. I like Melissa, just not her character in LFD. And, as my earlier post said, Mel and Ray are supposed to be a mismatch in LFD, that's why people around them are against them. I think the producers have purposedly highlighted their age difference and character difference. So I am still taking time to adjust. When I said chemistry, I meant those romantic lovers chemistry. I find that not very convincing and thus, quite lacking. However, Bear, I agree with you that scenes of Mel and Ray are very funny and cute. And in that sense they do have good chemistry. But to me, it is still more like big sister young brother type of chemistry. Ray's character is too kiddish, young and bold in LFD. As the story develops, I may find more or different chemistry between them after they get married. But again, I am a diehard charray fan, what more can I say??

Don't worry about saying things in the Charray thread as long as there's no ill intention. We are a friendly crowd and everyone can have a different opinion. I hope you don't mind my biased comments too.

BTW, what is happening to the cafe in Shanghai fanfic? It's been a while since the last update.....I hope you have not abandoned it....

I think Pong Ban sincerely loves Fung Hang Lit, but at the same time his sacrifice for love is also a sacrifice for his country. For him, his care towards Fung is the biggest importance but the country thing is just a plus. I am not sure whether Pong Ban will be willing to sacrifice himself if he doesn't care for Fung. He would rather rule the country himself, but he has faith in Fung.

I agree with Helen. They have a cute sort of chemistry. But its a friendly brotherly sisterly chemistry. Non of the sort about lovers. No worries bear. We get to know each other better. I consider this place for Charray fans. And we can have any discussions that suite ourselves. Unless of course the admin starts whipping us.
