Welp, I came back to check and I realized that I forgot about Bear's notion . Just in time actually, because we can discuss one topic that is questionable.

Did TVB intentionally minimize the romantic scenes between Charray or was it meant to be a subtle relationship?

I think that it was meant to be a subtle and gentle and romantic relationship. Actually, I never felt any of the lack some of you guys are feeling while watching the show. For me, people in the ancient times don't go dating with all the physical contact. They do what Charray does. Or well, likely the same or something. But my point is, zilch touchy during ancient times. Therefore it is perfectly reasonable to not have any affectionate scenes.

Plus, if TVB did intentionally minimize the romantic scenes, why did they cut all those unnoticeable shoulder leanning but emphasized on the rather aggressive kissing scene? I'd have to admit that it was superbly HOT. So my point here, if they intentionally tried to cut down on romance scenes, the kissing wouldn't be there. That scene was the most 'touchy' TVB can go in an ancient series, in my opinion. And no I don't think the kiss is necessary. Raymond could just hold her waist and remove her belt in a raping notion (of course we all know he didn't intend it) but naw, they had Charray kiss xD.



Agreed! They tend to be together quite a lot in series promotion and all. Take LWOLAP for example, they had a lot of cute Behind The Scenes pictures! And during the group photo or pig slaying, they're chatting together/close to each other. Awww, and also YY! Charmaine and Raymond's character was not very related. Logically, Kevin would be the one always being next to Charmaine, but you all know that we've seen MANY Charray pictures from Yummy Yummy . I hope they continue this 'tradition' for the new series .

Oh boy, I was away for one night, and there are like 10 "good" posts!! Congratulations everyone for a job well done! When I said good, I meant there are so many goodies - a wonderful MV, a touching Fan fic, wall papers, graphics, insightful or thought provoking comments, and possible good news about another Charray collaboration etc. Big thank you to Range, Syborg, AznPearl, Sehseh, Bao, Bear, and have I missed anyone? I probably have as I am getting old, eyes and memory are bad heehee.

Ok, where should I start? First, Pearl - your MV is really good. Like the scenes you chose, esp the first Charm scene - gosh she is llike an angel, so pure, innocent and pretty. I say that every time. I think charm is jsut perfect for the role. I also love the scene when Charm and Ray hold hands at the river bank. I don't recall seeing this at other MV's and I have missed this scene too! How could I ah? this is just the perfect example of the small gestures that denote the love between FHL and CMY. Love it. And your skills are good. The scene transitions are nicely done. BUT, I don't know if it is just my problem - I could only play up to 2min. 50 sec. So I am missing the ending!!!!! I can see that the whole MV duration is 3 min. 14 sec, but everytime I play up to 2min. 50 sec, it stopped.

Usually I like savefile because there's no waiting in line and the dl speed is fast. Don't know what happened this time.

As for Syborg's fanfic. I like it very much too! I don't mind reading short stories because this way the author will more likely to finish it and I don't have to wait ages for updates It is a touching story and yeah, the ending is very natural, not very cliche of putting Ray and Charm together. Pls. write more loh! As you guys said, Ron as the nephew is so funny!

As for bb, you are ending Finding Shangrila soon? Oh I love the story woh, and I think there's still more to unfold. We will support you if you keep writing it. I mean, I know you will start another one, but I just don't want to see you rushing the ending for fear of us loosing interest or attention. The setting of your fanfic is very mystical and set it different from the rest.

And to answer Range - I don't think TVB has deliberately cut down the romance scenes. However, the kissing scene is there because it is a very important scene, not just put there purely to add some spice. I agree that the ancient times, people are more subtle. I think the amount of intimacy is just right. FHL's character has changed after he was hurt once and he found out his heavy burden as the Mongolian prince. So it is very logical for him to keep his emotions deep inside. so he is not as "open" as when he was with Sonjia. For CMY, she is always the calm and cool person, so it is very natural for her to not use too much body language. The directors have added a lot of those small gestures such as hold hands, eye contacts, smiles, etc. to depict their love. And I think the chemistry between Charray is so natural and intense that they don't need those extra stuff to help out.


Oh and Sehseh, I sure hope your news is correct! Then we will have a Charray series in July and then another chance of Charray again in Nov. Heehee, totally my wishful thinking. However, I maybe different from you guys, I don't think I can bear seeing Charray in a series but not as lovers. I am sure as I watch, I will moan and groan that they are not lovers. I will sign everytime I see them with another person.....well, for consolation prize, I will get to see them in promotions. And there maybe chance for them to further develop their relationship !

And last but not least, Rangie.... thanks for reposting Phuong's poster... very beautiful! To put muh 2 cents in to your topic question...... I agree w/ Helen too about the extra gestures of affection... It is still an ancient drama, so probably no bedscene like one in LFD (BTW, the scene w/ Ray and Sheren gives me the creep... no offense) Yet I still felt, being an obsess CharRay fan that I am, that CharRay should have even more scenes together as a couple: like maybe having them ride on one horse together (like Charmaine and Benny in the emperor Qian Long)... or maybe the director only want one horse-sharing scene featuring Bosco and Sharon.... Anyways, in the scenes when they are sitting together, they are kind of far apart... a perfect example can be seen from the last scene in my mv with the light boats floating down the river... I felt that they are sitting too far apart... maybe Charmaine should rest her head on Ray's shoulder or sumthing... more romantic that way... Also, in some scenes of conversation between Charm and Ray, Ray is bound to move away or turn to face another direction while talking and Charm has to follow ... Regarding the subtitle, sehseh once faced the same problems in making her MV. I remembered reading some guidelines about the subtitles but I don't remember them. Maybe you want to try going to the music video tutorials in this forum? They have several useful boards for all sorts of creative arts or hobbies.

About the affectionate scenes, I feel that Chun Mung Yiu putting her head on his shoulder is very unnatural for her. Like I said, I always have a mental image of them hugging their knees together on a small hump of grass, watching the rising sun and purple flowers waving their petals around Charray. And in that fantasy, they are sitting rather far apart. But I still felt the love there! For me, one smile exchange between them is equivalent to 5 minutes of kissing. This is the thing that makes Charray so special. Their chemistry exists in the fact that they do not have much physical touch. Instead, I will feel weird if they DO have more touchy scenes.

Raymond moving away, I think, has an explanation . He is afraid of eye contact between him and his co-workers (meaning the actresses that is his lover) because he thinks that he can fall in love for real easily that way. But I think he still had to stare right into her eyes for a lot of times in LWOLAP...it is unavoidable. And you all know Charmaine! She is just so absolutely professional that she will not hesitate to open her beautiful wide eyes and pierce Raymond's heart with it...

The horse back ride is as beautiful as it can get in my opinion! Any old couple can go huggy huggy on a horse together. It's so dully common. However, Charray's horse ride is special because they held hands from each other's horses. It's much more unique and passionate in comparison to the former. Sigh, I love the ending so much...

Pearl's MV: I agree with everyone about the page transitions! It wasn't distracting like the transitions of others, but it blended back into the background like water seeping through air...

The song has a very romantic feel to it and it's a very heart warming MV ^^. If you want some CCs from me, I would have to say that the storyline should be more obvious for maximum enjoyment, though I would have to say also that your skills improved lots! Especially your transitions and you're not so lazy anymore .

Okay, remember that TVB is going to produce two mega huge drama? 60 episodes one by Poon Ka Tak and 80 episode by Chik Kei Yi?

Raymond has confirmed with his fans that after filming the 40 episode series (Moses, Bosco, Tavia, Linda), he will film the 60 episode series. (I actually foresee this, because Ray & PKT worked well in Le Femme Desperado.)

Meanwhile, Chik Kei Yi has indicated that the main cast of DOP will be re-casted into the 80 episode series. Therefore, 90% chance Charmaine will be working on this project instead.

Therefore, no mega long series for Charray.

That leave us with the 40 episode modern series, which is still UNCONFIRMED for Charmaine.

Yes Sehseh and fellow Charray fans - please pray hard! The July series seems to be our only hope for now!!!! I cannot stand seeing 3 grand production but still no Charray. No, my weak heart cannot stand that. And I don't want to cry my eyes out......Why did cky always use the same cast? He should let Charm go, so that she can try working with other directors and the chance of Charray will be higher. I am kinda sick of the same cast over and over again. Besides,DOP wasn't that great afterall. I really don't see the "chemistry" between the team. I don't want Charm to be coined CKY's "horse" either. I agree with Helen. I don't see much chemistry between the DOP cast. ENOUGH ALREADY! I am tired of Gigi, Bowie and Moses together in the same show as Charmaine. I agree that she should join the other series with Raymond. I think that director tend to be a bit more to the comedial side, so Charmaine would have a fresh new role! I think Charmaine might be smart enough to know that DOP is not doing very well. I hope she realizes that everyone ain't gonna look forward to a DOP cast again .

Agree with you Toffee, I don't really like Mocha. They are ok, but Moses always give me a cute but "saw saw day" feeling. Can't really see him in dramtic and serious roles. He will be great for those light hearted series. So forget about Moses and give us Raymond with Charmaine.

Anyways, I am beginning to dislike Chik Kei Yi. Give us a blardy break already! We're tired of you, and your intention on only giving us drama. DOP has no depth, to be honest. Mocha is cute but I don't find much chemistry between them in the series. Moses is just quite forced in serious roles. We might be loving them in a comedy series but Moses just can't do serious!

Seems like everyone is sick and tired of seeing the same WAB/DOP cast over and over again - this is what will happen if the team has no chemistry and we are foreced to see it. 3-peat is way too much! I wanted to do an MV during the holidays but I didn't manage to get around to it. And plus, school is really working me up now. Homework, additional exams, the big exam and St John Ambulance. It's a society like the Red Crescent that provides first aid and does marching and all that. The club is divided into six groups, and I became the squad leader for one of the groups ><. I have to design a logo and flag. Busy busy busy!

Besides that, I would also like to start discussing over a new topic. As some of you know, I'm rewatching and redownloading (used to have mpg but too much space) LWOLAP so I have been thinking about some of the scenes. Here is one I would like to discuss:

-I do not have the clip of the scene. So if anyone can rip for me, its in episode 24 around 2/4 of the episode.-



The question is...

Did Raymond propose marriage out of sincerity and love, or did he do so only to distract Charmaine from investigating the Mongolian settlements?

In my opinion, Raymond intended both. He was very inspired after visiting Charmaine's si jie. He wants to give Charmaine happiness, the one that she yearns after. However, at the same time, he also wishes to try and avoid the clashing of love vs country too soon. Charmaine going to the settlements will bring about many troubles and might also cause Charmaine her life. So I can also say that Raymond is thinking about her safety. Other than that, he's proposing because he felt love for Charmaine overwhelm him when he saw the happy couple that is Charmaine's si jie and her husband. He expressed all this to Charmaine to reassure himself and tell her that he loves her, and wishes to be with her forever...

What do you think?

- Maybe somewhere in 1930 during the WW2. That would be so romantic for Charray. You know; all the tragic love. That would be so touching and awesome. But then again: we have already got War and Destiny .
- Or how about a science fiction series. A series about the future. If I'm not wrong, there aren't SF series in TVB. That would be a 'fresh' theme. Ray can be a robot, where Charmaine is in love with xD. But then Ray got damaged, and poor Charm is still waiting for her his return. *Yea, I know, I'm a drama person*
- Another idea: a fanatasy series with elves and all. Like Range's idea for her ff.

Range, you have posted a tough question. I am a very suspicious person, so I will believe that FHL does have that intention of hoping to avoid Charmaine to get involve and reveal his real id. HOWEVER, I think that was his "ideal" solution to his problems - Their relationship will not be jeopardized, CMY will not get hurt, he will be united with the love of his life, and he can fulfill his repsonsibility as Mongolian prince. I truly believe FHL sincerely loves CMY and wants to bring her happiness. He is a very responsible person and he feels that CMY's happiness abd well being is his responsibility.

and that screen you have described - it is so heart warming! It is not much of a dramatic or romantic proposal, BUT I like it this way. I mean, all those modern dramas like kneeling down with a big bouquet of flowers, or place an ad in the newspaper etc. are too phony and showy to me.

Pearl, again your MV is very sweet and romantic. Ray look so touched when Charm defended him at Sheung Sau Foo. And I go, awwww..... But somehow, I like the first one better, I guess it is because you have used fairly long clips in the second MV, and sometimes not every bit of the scene is interesting and may drag a bit. It is still very good and it has many memorable scenes.....

The ones that I slashed are the ones I do not hope to be in a series with Charmaine. As for Louis, Kevin, and Tavia, I don't mind them too much . However, this would be my perfect cast and storyline:

If I could make a series...

Cast: Charmaine Sheh, Raymond Lam, Ron Ng, Linda Chung, Power Chan, Derek Kwok and Natalie Tong.

Charmaine and Raymond is no surprise. I want Ron to be in because he has never worked with Charmaine before, and I would like to see them cooperating! Linda because I like her and she sometimes reminds me of Charmaine. I would expect great friend sparks from the both of them! Besides that, I am a big Ron + Linda supporter . Power because of their amazing chemistry as friends (Charm+Power) in LWOLAP! I would like to see him get a comedy character and crack some jokes. Derek just because he is awesome. Nat because my cast needs another female and she is as cute as heck!

Setting: In the modern era, in wild jungles or dry deserts...

I would just want to see Charray in the modern era, because I want to prove people wrong about them not being able to pull it off modern and also because I like modern shows! xD

Storyline: They are both zoologists perhaps, or people concerned with animals and wild beasts. So they would need to travel the place and camp out at night and all that. Of course, they would be going to almost all the jungles in the world, and I would want some city scenes too. So if they are travelling everywhere, they can go to those cities like Las Vegas or Paris or so on and so forth! Imagine the beautiful scenery and adding to our two beloved eye candy, WOW! It will be interesting with all the animals, and would be rather educational as well .

Proposal Preferences xD

The most important thing for me is how sincere and passionate a guy is while proposing. One of the most romantic things I can think of that would make me fall head over heels is:

A yummy light lunch in a cute and cosy restaurant. While talking, he would sincerely grab my hand and express his wish. Eye expression is very important too . However, of course it would be best if the way is something that I never thought of! Surprises add to the atmosphere.

If i were the tvb director/producer/scriptwriter... my cast would be: charray, steven ma, leila, bosco and niki. i've always liked steven, from Lok Sun (with ada) and the horse racing show (ada too!). leila and niki can act well, and are of course eye candy. bosco is simply too great a comic relief to omit in any show! ideally i'd prefer half-ancient half-modern so that i can get the best of both worlds. heehee greedy, i know. and i think shows should be 30 epis, the ideal length

regarding the scene in LWOLAP, of course as charray die hard fans...we'll think its both. his true love for her, and the wish to avoid conflict cos of his identity. those who cant look past their age gap may well think of him as a liar, trying to divert her attention. i guess its all in the mind. but from their superb acting, i'll suppose its true love. just look into their eyes

i dont know why, but the age gap just seems so huge and obvious in LFD with melissa. perhaps its cos they kept harping on it. it seems much more natural with FHL and CMY. or is it my imagination, and my eyes that are blinded by love for charray?

i agree that the viet song in the MV sounds chinese-ish. i've always thought viet sometiems sounds like mandarin. and some show titles seem like direct translations. interesting isnt it..

the zoologist storyline really reminds me of TLB...with scenes of africa, and giraffes, elephants etc running around. really loved the backdrop of tlb! meaningful as well

One of the reasons that makes Charray so special for me is that their love is not only pure and forever, but beautiful as well. It is only fitting to have a lot of sceneries (including buildings ) as the backdrop for them in a modern series.

Regarding the age gap, let me tell you a theory I've thought up years ago.

They are natural not because you love them. You love them because they are natural!

Get what I mean? It is because that they are so good together that charmed you into being a charray fan. They are good in our eyes not because we love them. People, think back of the time when you didn't love them. You just started watching them. And since then they've already been good. Therefore, we are here because they impressed us.

As for the most romantic proposal setting - I agree with Range that I look for a sincere and heart warming proposal rather than a luxurious extravagant event. The following will be great for me:
We are at a nice restaurant with a great view (preferably looking at the ocean) and while we are watching the sunset, he would sincerely hold my hand and propose. OR
We are crusing in a car at night in the countryside/mountains. We came to an open area, lying on the grass looking at the stars. And he propose under the starry sky.
And if we have a liittle more money, the above will take place at the French Riveria, Tuscany or Santorini.

OMG, I am awfully off topic. Too carrried away by a fantasy which probably would never come true.

Anyways, I read a magazine today about Ray expressed that he won't date an actress. Aiya, there goes our secret little sparkle in the deepest corner of our heart that we rooted for Charray to be together in real life. Oh well. As I said endless times, at least give us Charray on screen.
