Brief Summary of the drama:
Yoon Minwoo (Song Suhun) looses his first love in an accident. Because of the loss of his first love, Minwoo has pain and sadness in him and with worries in him he was scared to meet a new woman. But 5 years later when returns he feels his past love in a unknown and ackward lady and with worries still in him he starts a new love with sadness and pain.
When Minwoo's first love died, Shim Haewon (Soh Yejin) got an heart transplant from his first love. After meeting Minwoo, she becomes stuck with Park Jung jae's (Ryu jin) love who treated her as his g/f and her love that was going to minwoo. This love turns into a love triangle b/t Minwoo Haewon and Jungjae...

Summer Scent ... this thread bring back lots of memories
In term of rating, this drama received the lowest rating compared to its other famous seasonal drama, A Tale of Autumn & Winter Sonata. Even before its broadcast, foreign media + Korean media are all hyped all this drama, but turned out to be a big disappointment in Korea. However, I read that it's doing pretty well in Taiwan during its broadcast.

Enough said abt the rating, Summer Scent is my favorite drama in summer 2003, completely infatuated with SSH & SYJ
I liked it very much when waiting every week for each episodes, but its completely a different case when I got the DVD ... I never finished watching it!!! By the time its released on DVD, I kinda lost interest in the drama already so don't have the drive to sit through 20 hrs.
If you haven't seen it ... might as well check it out! The plot is dragging esp. the middle part, but the sceneries, clothes, actors ... in a way, make the series less boring

its competitors were MBC's Attic Cat & Damo.
summer scent was aired at the beginning of July, that time Attic Cat was near its final episodes (or was it halfway?). Then when Attic Cat ended, Damo replaces Attic Cat ... so there ... two of MBC popular dramas .. Attic Cat & Damo
maybe you'll like this one too when you see it, its storyline is similar to winter and atumn. it's just that this time the chemistry between the two leads are a bit forced (as many pple said). i don't think it's the actors fault, they both are talented. but the chemistry b/w ssh and syj are not as good as byj & cjw in winter sonata. blame it on the story b/c in summer, our heroine betrays her first love to be w/ the man who had her beat whenever she's with him, so there must be guilt there so i guess that's why she doesn't want to get very "intimate" w/ her second love.

i loved this series....totally recommend it. besides, song seung heun looks really HOT in all of his sleeveless scenes.
^^ yea I totally recommend this series too!!! SSH is really FINE!! His acting really improve...i think this is his best series to far.

i haven't seen this one yet but i've been a fan of the other seasonal series (endless love and winter sonata) so i'm looking forward to this one. i've seen clips and the scenery is beautiful!

Just watched the director of the Seasonal Series in Arirang TV & he mentioned this series. Just there I saw Song seung hun got a new series, hope it can be shown here
I just finish watching this .... good story although I tought the flow of the plot is quite slow ..... The girl that play Hui Yen eventhough if I am not mistaken she's newcomer, but her acting is also prima suits with SSH. She reminds me of Kim Hyun Ju if I look at it at a glimpse, even prettier I think. The character of Sen Cai, Hui Yen's fiance not as bad as the other antagonist character. He is actually loving n caring for Hui Yen too. SSH plays very soft n tender in loving Hui Yen.
Is it true that the director in Summer Scent is the same as the Winter Sonata n Endless Love . No wonder it has similarities.

Btw, Son Yu Jin play in a movie title: The Classic. Very good, too. I recommend to watch, if anybody like her.

Summary:

What happens next when Hae-won finds out that the person who donated her heart was actually Min-woo's first love? Will she stay by him no matter what? Can Min-woo truly love the real Hae-won and not think about Un-hae, his first love, every time he sees her?

i agree, the lead actress is really pretty. but i think he looks better with song hye kyo in the first one.
watched it, not what i had expected it to be, very slow, and the stupid reason why they have to be apart ! i though that they would love each other more when they found out the true. They would think that they are destine to be together, but no it had to be the other way around! Just don't seem to make sense to me !

yeah, it was kinda slow. i wish they had more romantic and intimate scenes together. they didn't even kiss. there was just one scene when they got stranded in an island and SYJ gave SSH a light smack on the lips. it wasn't quite satisfying for the audience though. but nevertheless, overall, i still enjoyed the series. and, it did have a happy ending, it was kinda implied that they were going to end up together, so i guess am pretty ok with how it went.
i also agree that SYJ and SSH look great together. he's so friggin hot and she's just so ethereally beautiful. i hope they make a movie in the future. a light, romantic comedy would be perfect.
I also agree, this series was kinda slow. But overall I think its good. I really love the scenery where this sieres took place. Song Seung Heon and Son Yeh Jin made such agreat couple. Song Seung Heon is HOT!!!

i agree...song seung heon and son ye-jin make a good couple...i also felt the series was deliberately slow...nevertheless, the scenery and backdrop was a plus.

the ending wasn't quite satisfying. i actually thought my vcd copy was incomplete cos i couldn't believe that it was ended just like that. but,i guess, it was left open for the viewer's imagination. so in mine, they probably had coffee after seeing each other again and proclaimed their undying love for each other, and eventually have gotten married. am such a hopeless romantic. blush

it was a great one.
i really watched it from start to finish.
i'm usually late in school but it doesn't matter as long as i didn't miss one episode. blush
well, i was just disappointed at the ending of this series.
why is it just like that?
i was hoping for a more romantic ending from them but it didn't happen.

I just finished watching this serie and i agree that they should have a bit more to the ending........
to me rather then having them meet at the stairs like that, i prefer they make it so they meet back in the forest when they first met and then show a wedding or somethin more satisfying then wat they had.......
