Personally I really dislike series set in this time period, but I noticed as of late TVB's been making a lot of series in this time period. Most notably The Charm Beneath, War and Destiny (filming), Au Revoir Shanghai (filming), Spies and Dangerous Love (filming). I find series in this Era are really boring, it would be better to make the series either Modern or Ancient and keep it to that.

Oh i love this time period, but not all series at this period might be good. Plain Love 2 was the best. Can't wait for War and destiny and Dance Of Passion, looking really good

I really don't mind what era the series is set in as long as the storyline and casts are good. I think those eras can have good storylines, if planned well enough.

I wouldn't mind watching some of the series in this period. I think there were alot of elements in that period worth watching because of its relationship with the Great Depression and World War 1 and 2. Might take awhile to get over the Black and White but it should shed a delightful insight into the period. Great history lesson as well.
enjoy the film

I actually quite like dramas set in this time period. I guess it's because of the change of culture and tradition, the disappearance of the traditional way of life and the modern society beginning to emerge. Ok, I don't think that even makes sense xD Series set in this time period usually involves more conflict. I really like the costume from this era actually, love that whole nostalgic feel.
Not to keen on movies made during this time though as they were mainly silent films or really bad-quality talkies.

forgot what's its called.
there's a 1920-1930 starring DODO CHENG & SUNNY CHAN "shanghai"?
Man Zhi Leung & Michelle Yim/ Kenix Kwok & Frankie Lam "wan li chang cheng"?
Nadia Chan & Leon Lai "tian ya ge nu" (this one i remember first saw, that i notice is 1920-1930. didn't like it. just the only one i know of Nadia; other Nadia "wonton queen", "hotel wonton?"
i have a date with spring ? is 1940-1950? sheren teng
i don't have opinion on 1920-1930. must have some i like. the thing i notice of these period; is the dance-girls & the band. you know the dance girls who sit & drink with the smoking man? they are the standard dance-girls; unlike the later ones who are less dance & the other kinds.

That time period series are often depressing, especially when the theme is on the war. But I actually rather like the costumes. I believe, if it is given a good plot, this period series can be enjoyable. Some of the series from this time period that I like is The Charm Beneath and The W Files.
I think the series from this time period can be enjoyable if they focus more on family matters (like the Charm Beneath) and add on more comedy (like The W Files).

Song Bird
Beside the seaside beside the sea
Once upon a time in Shanghai
The rememberance ( I think its called that?) first ever TVB series with Julian Cheung and Kenix Kwok was good.
Down Memory Lane starring real life couples Frankie Lam and Kenix Kwok was great.

http://asianfanatics.net/forum/List_Of_All...s_-talk260.htmlHmm this is way before I was born, therefore I don't really know any dramas at the time, all I know is it is black & white with flickering pics, personally I don't like it.

It's called "Once Upon a Time in Shanghai" (the 1996 remake of "The Bund")...
When I watch series, I watch more for the plot and the actors/actresses than the time period. In my opinion, some of the 1920's/1930's era series were quite good -- I wouldn't say all, but there were some...
One of my favorite series from that era was "Remembrance" starring Julian Cheung and Kenix Kwok...the theme song to this series was also absolutely awesome!
