Hey guys! Let;s try to predict who will be winning the 39th annual TVB awards according to the series that you've seen so far or heard of. I know its early but as we get to november we'll have better predictions! Let's start a thread now!

WHY isnt't Kevin Cheng in best Actress, btw Gigi Lai souldn't get best actress agen ( mah opinion) because she got it like in 2004 with Bowie Lam in best actor.......hope CHarmaine gets best actress... WHY isnt Niki CHo in best actress? and if she gets nomiated hope she gets it, hope tavia gets supporting actress and why isnt sammul chan or myolie wu in it? ( from WRTL) kenneth ma should get improved actor and nancy wu should get improved actress.

You can't really determine who will win a particular award before you even see the series. Doing so would create a lack of credibility for the actors and actresses.

Its too early. But, isn't Liza coming out with a series this year also? If its year end (which I think will be) she'll be up for contention again and don't be suprised if she wins again.

i think it is too early to predict, but it is good speculation list there

Actually, you know what? I think that this year, even if Liza is up for contention, TVB might not give it to her 'cause it caused too much controversy. Actually, if at the end of the year, Liza isn't as highly praised by the audience as the other contending actresses, TVB will probably tell her that she isn't winning and then she'll go to the media and tell them she's deciding not to accept anymore awards. This way, TVB lets her know and she can save her "face."

Bernice Liu should definitely get something this year! She should have already gotten it last year.

I think Bernice will get most improvement actress.

I'm not sure yet. i mean i don't know who's going to starred in what serie yet. I wish bernice can win the most improved award too. Somehow i get the feeling that Elaine Yiu will win the most improved, not that i like her.

Well I hope Moses will win. I think he really did well in recent TVB series though!!! He has been holding EVIL and COmedy and SERIOUS characters as well..

comedy - well I think he did pretty well in Family Man, the gentle crackdown, love bond
serious - mmm Healing hands 3? War and beauty? I think he really serious in these two series.

It's really hard to say now, because there are still so many series we haven't watched yet. But based on Raymond Lam's performance in LWOLAP, I truly think that he should get the best actor award, but this is on the stay that I didn't see any of Roger, Moses, or Michael Miu's performance yet.

but you are forgetting that the awards do not go on talents and ratings solely- this is in a way minor

its if the character is the traditional good oen that teaches us some life lesson AND its all about politics of the business- who will be geting the raise, who are they promoting, who is connected with whom

they are all talented but awards in a way is just another entertainment show which is majoring hyped - that;s all- it doesnt really mean antyhing

i think it is too early to predict who's going to win what but based on how much tvb is promoting the newbies, i think linda chung or elaine yiu will get the most improved award. bernice should have got it last year but i don't think they'll give it to her this year. moses chan should get the best actor award this year and i think ada choi has a chance for best actress.

i think it is a little to early to predicts who going to win? because it also base on the rating of the series too. if the rating of a series is very high that have more nominations...also they change the award every year, i don't think tvb should delete my top 10 favorite tv character...award.

I think that Elaine Yui or Linda chung will get the most improved actress....

TVB will only be incredibly skewed if they do decide to make Elaine win Most Improved. I'd say Leila Tong should have a chance at that, but knowing TVB, i'm not too sure.

For some reason I can't imagine Kevin winning Most Improved. He should be vying for Best Actor instead.

TVB should also include back all the Top 12 favorite characters award and Best Chemistry as well. Last year was just plain bad.

Well, didn't Tavia get nominated last year for Most Improved Female even though she already won the title in 2003 for Vigilante Force? But I'm not really sure if you CAN win it twice or not.

Anyway, I got this gut feeling that Linda Chung's gonna win Most Improved Female... although I'm rooting for Leila Tong. Hmmm... who else?

Most Improved Male: I really want Sammul Chan to win this - but gah... he's not contracted with TVB. And like MagicSwallow said, I can't imagine Kevin being nominated for Most Improved Male but rather for Best Actor.

Anyway... still gotta watch more series, plus the upcoming ones, before I can decide on Best Actor and Best Actress. Even the anniversary series are not 100% set yet, and they could be a crucial factor in who wins these categories.

Oh, as for Best Supporting Male/Female.... it's such a hard choice, since the competition is so strong (esp. amongst the veterans). I really want either Wayne Lai or Paul Chun to win this, purely because I love their acting. Even John Chiang was pretty good in RDOV - but that was last year . As for female.... can't decide >.<

Hmm I think Myolie is a favorite for this year's Best Actress but I think Charmaine can also pose a challenge to Myolie. Melissa might be nominated.

Moses might win for Best Actor, but Bobby is good too this year and he is quite powerful. Raymond might be nominated and so is Kevin and Steven Ma.

Most Improved Actress most likely go to Linda Chung (from all the promotions she has gotten so far), unless TVB becomes crazier and give it to Elaine Yiu or Toby Leung haha.

Somehow I didn't see anyone outstanding this year to win Most Improved Actor. I think Sammul and Kenneth may be included in the list.

I dunno about Best Supporting Actor/Actress. Cannot guess

So far the favorites for Best Series might be Forensic Heroes and La Femme Desperado. But it might change when Myolie's series aired later

Best Actor- i dont know, i dont think theres a person who has a major advantage.. maybe bobby though because pillowcase of a mystery and forensic heroes both did really well ratings wise. i dont think tvb loves moses so much yet that they would give him best actor though..

Best Female- there are so many candidates that its even less clear than best actor.. i think anyone from who has had a lead in any series has a chance.. we'll have to wait till closer to the 39th anniversary to see if there are any surprise contenders. i think that dop flopping made charmaine, ada and gigi's chances slimmer though, but we'll see charmaine goes with her phonix quartet and also peals of the orient.. melissa and sheren might also be surprise contenders due to the success of lfd, and also love guarrenteered for melissa

Most Improved Female- its definately between bernice or linda.. theyve been promoting those two crazily for the past 2 years and its time to reward them, especially bernice who missed out by the tiniest fraction last year to niki chow, unless they decide to give it to sharon chan or elaine yiu which would just be crazy. but i think the chances of sharon getting the award is really slim especially cos there are so many rumours about her being frozen. i think elaine yiu is too green still, despite being given lead female in safe guards and a major role in rdov and a part in hof, that only adds up to three series. but who knows, tvb gave niki the award last year when only two of her three series had been aired..

Most Improved Male- tvb was said to be promoting lai lok yi at the end of last year so i think he has a chance.. i think kevin has a bigger chance though, due to the fact that lok yi ling loves him and is extremely popular atm. or maybe they'll give it to kenneth ma.. have to wait until we find out the final 8 before i can give better guesses.. theres just too many people who have a chance of winning

i'm excited for this yr..i kinda hope Roger Kwok doesnt get the award..kinda tired of seeing his face on screen which always reminds me of ah Wong...

I don't think she knew all that b4 the show.
Last year she looked really happy and surprise when she got the award. After the ceremony, she even posted a message in the forum of www.lizawang.com to thanks her fans to support her. I don't think TVB would tell her b4 if she can get the award or not.
In 2000, 2002 and 2004, she had few series as well, and she didn't get any awards, and she never said that she wouldn't accept any awards or anything.

Anyway, her new drama 2006 "Pearl" is not shown yet. So how can she be praised?

for best actor i think it would be roger kwok, best actress charmaine sheh and most improved actress would be linda chung

Well I think Charmaine might get it this year or Ada. The Fire dance series was pretty good for both of them, especially Ada. If Charmaine wins, I think it would be for the Phoenix quartet.

didnt really watch TVB series this year but i have a strong feeling that Ada will grab the best actress.
got high chance that Moses win the best actor as well...even if i prefer Raymond to have it.

lol. we are talking about tvb here. u don't need to watch the series in order to predict it. everything about tvb awards is so rigged.

After reading the news of Raymond Lam being the first lead for the 60 eps series, it's even more possible that Charmaine and Myolie's competition for the Best Actress awards will be a BIG hype. Afterall, both of them are having a love triangle with Raymond in the grand production. LOL the exposure from the best actress competition can somehow benefiting TVB by promoting the upcoming 60 eps grand production.

But then again, anything can change in the blink of an eye. TVB is unpredictable anyway, just look at Niki's case last year haha.

this is gonna sound really weird but if they do decide to air Warlords (a.k.a. The Conquest) for anniversary series, I think Sonija should get Most Improved Actress. Her acting is so much better in The Conquest and Land of Wealth compared to before.

I actually do think that the major competition this year for best actress will be between Charmaine Sheh and Myolie Wu... they have a lot of the major series this year. Not to mention that Charmaine hasn't ever gotten the award yet... I think she does deserve it. She should've gotten it for Country Spirit back then

And as for the most improved award I have a feeling that Linda Chung will get it this year - she's been in quite a lot of series and TVB obviously likes her. If Niki can get it after 2 series and Alex Fong can get nominated when he's only done one series with TVB.. then Linda is eligible for sure.

Anyway, I hope that the awards this year are more fair... I find that I'm usually disappointed with the results every year, hopefully that's not the case this time.

yeah.. the chances of ron winning an award is VERY low.. its not like he'll get best actor.. well at least raymond before ron.

Best Actor: Actually.. this is pretty hard for me to choose. I really like Steven, although I doubt he'll get it this year. Bobby is good too, he has a high chance? And also Moses. Errr.. I don't really know.

Best Actress: I like Myolie, but I'll have to see her performance in Lush Fields before I say anything. Charmaine Sheh, I don't know, people always predict that she'll get it, yet other actresses always end up beating her to it. I don't care though, since I don't like Charmaine Sheh. I want Ada to win, but the chances are low.

Best Supporting Actor: Hmm.. no clue. Ha Yu? Or Gerng Dai Wai. OR Lau Dan. I dont know.

Best Supporting Actress: Don't these usually go to the more mature, older actresses? But really, I have no clue who's getting this.

Most Improved Actor: Kevin Cheng. I think he'll get it, although I could imagine him running for best actor more. It's a tad bit weird for me to see him getting the most improved actor award.

Most Improved Actress: Linda Chung. I would be surprised if this girl doesn't get it. It's obvious that TVB loves her. Me? Not so much. TVB is promoting this girl SO much, it's actually driving me crazy. Though, I don't think she's bad, but she's not great either. I want Nancy Wu, Leila Tong or Bernice Liu to win this. But I don't think they will. Nancy won't because of the lack of her series. Unless her new series airing in October gives her a lot of spotlight and the role is outstanding, it won't do her any good. TVB doesn't seem to promote her either. Leila Tong, she's not a contracted artist. I know Niki isn't either, but... *shrugs* If they wanted to give it to Leila, they would have done so a long time ago. Bernice Liu, are there any series of hers out this year?

I personally am rooting for:
Best Actor- Bobby Au Yueng APCOM or Moses Chan Fau Mo Wong Sa because they both deserve it heavily, even though I haven't watched the full Fau Mo Wong Sa I still think Moses Chan did an excellent job. As for Bobby, he's brilliant anyway.

Best Actress: Ada Choi Fau Mo Wong Sa, She so Deserves this I'm sorry but she does! Anyway is Lushes Field going to be out by the anniversary, the anniversary is coming at october/november and there are still a lot of series needing to be coming out.

Best Supporting Actor:Didn't Ha Yu win an award last year, will they give him another award?

Best Supporting Actress: I'll have to say Tavia, Other then being a fan of hers, I personnally think she also deserves to win this, Annie Man was so-so in Greed Mask and well I haven't seen LWOLP and also YoYo Mung should be in the nomination for Best actress actually if Ada Choi doesn't win I hope its YoYo mung who wins because she did a fantastic Job In FS!

Most Improved Actor: No Idea

Most Improved Actress:Nancy Wu!! She So deserves this, Her Role in TOB was brilliant and now her Role in FTF is also brilliant as well. I will Kick someone if they give it to Kate Tsui or Linda Chung because none of them deserve it, well yeah they might actually give it to linda because she's being promoted like hell but does her acting improve I don't think so!!!

haha.. but the list is so little tho.. i think there's meant to be a longer list of people

charray should win best actor and actress it's not only because i love this couple, it's also their awful performances.

if ray won't win, it's ok. he'll get many other chances for sure. especially next year because of his leading role in the 60 eps. production.

but charm should finally win it. the ratings of MV are quite high and to portray 4 different characters in one series is (in my opinion) more worthy to get the award than gaining some weight (although it's also hard work to lose them all after filiming^^)
