i searched the Critcs Hang-out section already....and i didnt find a hate thread on her, so yeah, i guess im gonna start one myself.

im actually not one, im just neutral towards her, but im just wondering if there was any at all....
i mean....almost everyone i know that's into Taiwanese stuff LOVES her. im really curious if she has any haters or dislikers at all.

and also....maybe it's just me but i feel that she's kinda overrated. maybe not that overrated but a bit at least. i see her everywhere now!!

I love rainie yang..She is so adorable and her voice is so sweet!!.but i agree her acting isn't that great..I dink she is better sticking with Singing rather den Acting..

I don't love her but she is really cute. She seem to have potential and I hope to see a more serious role of her in the future in order to determine her acting skill. Her singing is okay... but her voice is too... I unno? Kiddish?

yep, she is over-rated. but then again so is gillian. or twins for tt issue. there's sunthing abt rainie tt makes me feel like slapping her sometimes. yeah, the way she acts. i can't stand her acting, though she does a good job in hosting tv shwos & is quite cute. but her cuteness seems forced & unnatural, for eg, if u compare ah sa & rainie, see who's more natural, i wuld choose ah sa hands down. cos she seems more natural to me. no offence rainie fans, esp connie..

Same here, I don't hate her but don't like her. Her acting show so little improvement after so many series. I really don't think acting is for her. As for her singing, I can't agree more that she's so overrated. She's not the worse but she's neither good to be the top female singer for Sony. That's sad bc there are so many talented mandarin singers out there but yet not as popular as her. I guess image is really the main factor why she's so popular, ppl love her 'cute' look but how long will that last? Hard to tell...What I don't get is why do some ppl think she's multi-talent? Just cuz she does acting and singing and hosting , does not mean she's multi-talent if she's not that good in any of those areas, just my opinion, a good example will be someone like Ron, singing and acting..lol...They should really focus on just one, I reckon, Rainie should stick with singing, atleast it's not as bad as her acting.

I think she lookos pretty but her acting cute is getting kinda boring...her songs are ok though

Frankly I dont know what the fuss is all about. Everyone is always saying she's cute and blah blah but I find her not one bit cute. Her acting , or should I say over acting cute the most annoying thing on screen. It just doesnt look natural to me. I cant understand why people thinks she looks cute, she seem very sophisticated and worldly for a young person.

she is cute, thats the truth, but i think that the cute image cannot be forever. at first, i really enjoyed her cute performances, but i think its a bit overdone now.
and although her singing is okay, i dont think she has the potential to "take over" Jolin's spot yet.

most ppl hu hate her are usually ppl living in china beocs she was inside the top ten hated list in china, sth to do with wad she said in the guess show which she co-hosts that was really disrespectful towards chinese. doubeld with the fact that she is a chinese. about her second album, it seemed that the pre-sale results were good, but i have her first hit song b4 and its really very act cute. getting to be like cyndi wang. eew. one act-cute is enough. if she sticks to her styles of songs like ai mei and li xiang qing ren, it will be good. shes not really pretty the way her eyes are drawn up like in a fox amnner or sth but shes cute naturally. and she doesn't have a bad attitude towards the media unlike cyndi.

Yeah, even though China and Taiwan share the same history, language, and culture but like how Korea and Vietnam is split into two countries, Taiwan wishes to remain a democratic nation unyielding to communism.

But anyways...Rainie not only is cute but can sing extremely well. She's still young and has a bright future ahead of her. She works hard for her family and that is all that matters. She doesn't have to memorize every historical fact from textbook to impress anyone, she's already great being herself. So what if her answer was incorrect? She's not any less human or less intelligent than the rest of us. We all have our own strengths and our weaknesses. I know that I for one can never be able to sing those high notes live like Rainie.

Rainie never placed herself in competition against Jolin; that's something the media announced to make the market more intense. I like both Rainie and Jolin. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. Both of their songs are unique because each sing differently. It would be weird and not as great if Jolin sang Rainie's Ai Mei while Rainie sang Jolin's Myth.

Being cute is just the current trend. Of course, it does become a bit redundant but Rainie will eventually shed that cute image into something more mature. I guess like Twins, Rainie is just trying to portray that cute image first before entering a more serious image because once you exit out of the cutesy image, it'll be quite difficult returning back.

Just never expected her to emerge out of the 4 in Love pack and become popular today

personally i think if Jolin sang Rainie's slow songs, it wouldnt sound weird. probably equally as good. not sure about Rainie singing Jolin's fast songs though, since i've never heard her sing anything like those. not sure if there was any in her first album since i didnt listen to all the songs on that. but her songs usually are either ballads or more upbeat ballads. but her voice sounds too cute, it doesnt fit in with the rap-ish stuff. but i cant really judge until i hear her sing faster songs, not the horrible upbeat ballads that she sings. but Jolin can definitely sing songs like Ai Mei and make it sound good.

I actually think Rainie has quite a very good voice. It's very unique, and it's not quite as 'tian' (sweet) as I think Jolin's voice is/can get to be. But I think Rainie should stick with slower songs though. As for her cute image, I think it's just something that her management tells her to keep up, because she certainly seems like she's capable of being a very mature person, but because she is physically so cute-looking that it's natural that her management would try to stretch that fact as much as possible. She seems a lot more natural and relaxed on shows than I've seen of some other celebs

Actually if you listen to Rainie's latest album, her biggest weakness imo is fast beating songs. I think she's better off with slow songs. I feel that Jolin is much more versatile in singing.

honestly i started to dislike rainie after seeing her performance "merry go round" with lawrence chou in 2001. her taiwanese series don't change my opinion on her. to add to that, the biggest problem i have with her is the singing...

No doubt Jolin will sing just as great as Rainie or perhaps even better in Ai Mei but I initially meant weird, I'm not referring to the quality of it. Not as great because I'm already used to listening to Rainie's Ai Mei version, not Jolin's. '

Jolin is one of the best female singers at the moment and Rainie seems to trail not so far behind. Yes, Jolin is much more of a versatile singer, she can sing both slow and fast songs without visibly catching her breath. Rainie still needs to work on singing fast songs and her huge gulps of air. At times, Rainie's voice is too thin and fragile to sing very low or fast songs but both are great singers nonetheless.

I think anyone who still acts cute and has shared a heated onscreen kiss is faking the cute image, not just Rainie but can't help it though, that's the current petite adorable trend that is popular.

I liker her slow ballads, i don't likw her upbeat. cutish songs......

I don't know . . . I don't really like her. I saw her in Devil Beside You and she had a cute role, has a cute image and everything but I find her too fake sometimes. Dunno, and her acting isn't my cup of tea. But then in TW idol dramas are idol dramas afterall. Some good, some bad.

For one, dancing. Ok. How can you say Rainie is far off from Barbie? I believe you better see Rainie dance. I prefer you watch her dance videos with 4inLove and that Guess Guess Guess Episode wherein she was tasked to do a Dance Showdown with Luo Zhi Xiang in a dance studio. I doubt Barbie could do that, Rainie dances like BoA Kwon! (which is sumthing cuz i reeealllyy like BoA).

Singing --- hello. Rainie may not be that good with pop, fast songs but her voice is simple yet soothing. I still hold on to the fact that in an aspect, Jolin is better than her, but hello? singing is Jolin's forte and Jolin is more veteran than Rainie in the music industry, give Rainie time before you judge. Jolin started cutesy too. Barbie's voice sounds weird. I remember hearing her sing live when she went for a concert here in the Philippines (The Event, July 2004)...she sounded WEIRD!

Acting, Barbie was good in this because she took up Drama as her major in college. I accept she may be a little better than Rainie in here but give Rainie sum tym before you start bashing her.

I don't hate Rainie but like you, for some reason, I can't seem to like her. Her acting and singing are okay. Don't get why her album sell so well though, probably cuz of her rising popularity from DBY. She's extremely fortunate to land herself with that likeable role.
