WHAT'S the best way to measure fame? Obviously a silly question to ask someone too preoccupied with being famous to ponder this triviality ideally such matters should be handled by adoring fans and the devoted press.

But despite Brunei-born Taiwanese celebrity Wu Zun's efforts to keep up with the explosion of global attention, the modest young man attempts to give a satisfactory reply.

"The applause from our audience seemed different," he says thoughtfully, in reference to a recent stop in mainland China to promote his pop group's album. "Also, now even older adults, mature people recognise me on the streets!" he adds, beaming.

Wu Zun is the newest member of the wildly-popular Taiwanese boy band Fahrenheit, and already has two successful Chinese-language TV dramas under his belt, Tokyo Juliet and Hana Kimi.

Hana Kimi, which is the latest of the two, also features fellow Fahrenheit man Jiro Wang and Ella from girl group S.H.E., and viewer ratings for the series have gone through the roof in Taiwan.

Like his previous drama series, Hana Kimi is based on a successful Japanese manga, but carries a more playful theme meant to be enjoyed by audiences of all ages.

"I consider myself very lucky to have been given the opportunity to act in this drama," says Wu Zun.

He was here in Brunei recently with his producer, Ken Huang, from Taiwanese company Comic Productions, to scope out potential filming locations in Brunei for his next series."The series will be about a rich man like Li Ka-Shing! so we are looking for an (exaggeratedly) extravagant house, maybe one with a golf course, bowling alley, and cinema inside the house, and a grand (portico)," says Wu Zun.

He and Huang have sought help from the Tourism Development Board which agreed to support the project to boost interest in Visit Brunei Year 2008.

The production team for the drama are planning to assemble a making-of documentary after the series' completion, and attach informative video clips to the end of every episode to quench viewers' curiosity about Brunei.

"Every time I go on a TV show, and introduce myself: 'I'm Chun, from Brunei', everyone then asks: 'Oh, where's that? Is it in Malaysia?'," says Wu Zun.

"I normally reply, 'Hopefully one day I can tell you more about Brunei, perhaps on a travel programme'," he says, laughing.

Filming has been tentatively set to kick off in May, and will primarily target the Taiwanese market, but will also be aired in China, Thailand and the Philippines. Although there has been no word from Radio Televisyen Brunei about making the series available to the locals, Wu Zun is intent on staying optimistic.

"Right now we have been picked up by a Japanese broadcasting company and they are planning for me to introduce Brunei on a travel and lifestyle show, to be aired only in Japan."

Wu Zun's own production company is well known for making Meteor Garden, another Chinese-language TV series starring the members of the currently dormant boy band F4, out of the manga Hana yori Dango (Boys Over Flowers).

Although Fahrenheit only released its first album last September, it looks set to break records set by predecessor F4.

At the recent Sprite Awards in Chengdu, China, the group bagged two for their display cabinet Best Group and Most Popular Group of 2006 bragging rights for being acknowledged alongside the likes of Aaron Kwok and Zhang Hui Mei.

Just a week ago, Chinese entertainment media reported that two cars driven by crazed fans in hot pursuit of the vehicle transporting the group were involved in a car accident. Fortunately no one was hurt, but the incident prompted Fahrenheit's record company, HIM, to impose tighter restrictions on fans' privileges, for fear of future similar mishaps.

When asked about his fan base in his home country, Wu Zun expresses his regret at the scarcity of entertainment news here about his group's latest exploits. He speculates that this could be the main reason why not many recognise him as a celebrity when he is at home.

"I think Bruneians are also a bit shy, but some of them do ask to take photos with me." He notes that earlier in the day he was approached by a group of non-Chinese speakers young members at his fitness club who wanted to take a picture with him.

"And then they bought a Fahrenheit CD before they left," he says with a straight face. The Brunei Times

Just to share the NIKKEN glasses I have just received from my taiwanese friend today

This is the actual one that CHUN wore

My taiwanese friend told me that she went thru alots of outlets but mostly already out of stocks

Then she managed to get it at one of the outlets in Taipei but that was the last pair

She wanted to buy 2 pairs of these designs but too bad, left only a pair so she let it to me and she bought another design which is red in colour, also the same brand, NIKKEN~

Came with free poster, different colours book marks, CHUN's picture on the glass cloth etc.....

Lmao..if my Mami caught me..she'd probably ask me what I'm doing and why I have time looking at this kinda thing when I always tell her I have not enough time for h/w

Btw..now that I look back to Tokyo Juliet, I realised how bad his hair made him look

Did you purchase the specs with just the frame and with no-degree lenses? And how much did you pay for it plus the shipping? If the price is reasonable I might wanna own a pair too! And there are so many freebies after purchasing the specs.

Wu Zun wears glasses, he's not so fake. According to COLOR magazine, he has a degree of around 300++. I guess he normally wears contacts unless he's resting or traveling or promoting the Nikken brand.

There was this question that Wu Zun posed in the article in COLOR.

He asked if most people who wear glasses would take off their spectacles when bathing.

The editor injected his own comments which went along the link of "duh, if not what? they wear their glasses to bathe?"

Wu Zun laughed and responded, "Yea! For about 7 - 8 years, I've always been wearing my spectacles when I bathe, even when I'm washing my hair! Because like that then can I see clearly and bathe until I'm very clean! Is it very weird and funny?"

Actually, I bought the specs with just only the frame and the lenses I will fix in Singapore definitely...
I did asked my friend to check with the NIKKEN saleman whether we could just purchase the frame and as for the lenses, we will fix in our own country... the saleman replied to her and said shouldn't be a problem^^

My taiwanese friend purchased it at NTD2,200 (Below SGD$150.00)
The design is very unique and partly also becos of the free poster, bookmarks and the cloth....
Even though my friend is not a fans of CHUN, when she helped me to purchase, she also bought one pair for her ownself.... but hers is red in colour design^^

Haha, actually I think I'm more suited to wear rectangular framed specs because my face is already very round. I wonder do they have the similar one that Chun's wearing but in rectangular framed? I see a few rectangular ones there but then I'm struggling whether to get the similar pair which he wore for the advertisement.

I think $150 hmm is alright, around the same price as my current one without the lens, but it's Nikken, the brand that Chun endorses!

LOL Actually I did wear my glasses in the shower too. It's really nice to see clearly when you're showering. =] That's until I got my contacts. Now I don't have to wear my glasses in the shower anymore. =D

I knew he wore contacts because in one picture that I saw you can kind of see the contact in his eye. Usually, you can tell up close because it has this tint of light blue. =D Something we have in common!

Nikken also has many different colours and designs of frames to choose
The one that CHUN was wearing is quite siimilar to the rectangular type of frame, I do have a round face too and I tried to put on it and so far, it suits me~

Wu Zun looks good in glasses because his face is long and lean, plus his nose is also narrow so it makes the glasses sit just right. but then again, if you noticed a lot of the pictures are of him at the side view. if you look in the frontal view, you might not be too happy with some of the results.

i love glasses myself and frames. and i tried on a lot of frames and loved them from the side view but then when i look at the frontal view it just looks plain weird.

they should learn to take more frontal shots.

oh but i dont have yahoo acct! haha so i cant enquire... i like the half frameless ones.. so nice..

i made my specs for 220 too, heh. and already has two pairs of sunnies. but anyway, who cares! i also want the specs! perferably in black. and in a square frame. maybe we shall all just mass order it! (: since singapore has one of the highest myopic rate, heh.

and hey, i wear my glasses when i'm bathing! i only take it off when i'm washing/conditioning my hair or when i'm washing my face. i feel so weird without my glasses on! can't see a thing for nuts; cursed with a 700 - 800 degree short-sightedness and quite a high astigmatism. and i always take out my contacts before i bathe cause i'm bloody paranoid that i would accidentally open my eyes and then my contacts will go missing. >_< so yay, i am same as wu zun! :]
