but singing and performing wise i think its JOLIN TSAI....

I like Jolin more in singing and performing. As for acting, I don't think any of them are that good.

i don't really like rainie....except in the devil series...she has a mustache....and it annoys the hell outta me

Jolin. Rainie first cd got some nice songs but her singing was just alright. Her second album, I thought it wasn't good especially the fast beating ones. Maybe it just me but I found that she can't sing fast songs. I think Jolin is much more versatile when it comes to singing.

WAIT... rainie can dance really well too, she just doesnt really focus on it but honestly i dont like jolin for some reason ... she just gives me a negative feeling tho i hav to say she seems like a good person.

Well well...I would totally pick Rainie Yang. She is WAY more cuter than Jolin, and in singing I would have to say Jolin since she is more experienced, but Rainie is cuter and can act better.

I haven't really warmed up towards Rainie yet. She seems to be milking the whole cutesy thing for as much as she can.

I like Rainie alot more than Jolin...I mean, I love Rainie and have been a big fan of hers since MG, she can sing, act, dance and host, and of course she can make really funny faces...as for Jolin, she's ok I guess...seems like most of u here feel that she sings better than Rainie, honestly, I think they are equally good, because they both obviously sing different types of music; Jolin sings mostly pop and dance songs, while Rainie is more into the slow love songs...so if u really think about it, their styles are not similar at all! I think most people compare them is purely because of their popularity.

And it's understandable that most people feel that Rainie is childish, but think about it, "childish" and "cutish" are 2 different words...if people watch Rainie in interviews and talk shows, she mostly acts really cute, but that's because many people love to see her act cute. But in reality, she is very mature...if u watch her interviews, she answers question maturely, and even her friends say she is not cute in reality, instead, she's quite manly...I think their comments are worth considering about her since they are the ones who actually KNOW Rainie and know what kind of person she is...while we only see the Rainie who's on our screens...just because we see this cute kiddish person on our screens, it does NOT mean she really is like that in real-life.

Acting I will have to say Rainie is the better. I think Jolin has acted in one series if I remember correctly "Working Girl" and she was ok in it. In singing, I won't be able to judge because I have not heard enough of Jolin singing to compare to Rainie.

Rainie is way better all around not a Jolin fan, prefer Rainie because she is an amazing singer.

i 1000% agree with crazylinda..plz dont call rainie childish or TRY to act cute or w/e if u havnt relly known her that well..cause through the number of interviews..everyone knows she is not relly that cute in reality..n its jus cause ppl like to see her "cute" n want to learn her "cuteness"..dats why she's going that style for the media..so plz be considerate n realize that rainie's not childish..if you read what she wrote in her cd..she is VERY VERY mature..especially in her thoughts about love =).

anyways..although im a rainie fan..but i also like jolin..so just relly want this comparison for them to stop! it's gettin quite annoying! hahaha..i see it in the news section like everyday! but they're two total different styles of people!!

For now, jolin because she has more experience in singing solo and performing solo although rainie beats her in acting and hosting. Give rainie more time and experience, she'll probably be ahead of jolin later.

oh another thread that may cause fights between both fans from both parties. there is alrady one in the asian entertainment news forum. well for me OBVIOUSLY jolin is better. but hey im not going to be like some of the rainie fans here..i personally think rainie is very cute too. and both are gd friends both belong to the same managing company no point in arguing whos better. some pple just like to see fights and quarrels. sadistic

some say jolin doesnt host nor act, which will lead to some thinking that she cant host or act, but fact is shes too busy just with her albums and i think that if jolin acts in idol dramas too, like alot of stars who are becoming famous at a very fast rate do, she will be even more famous then she is already is now. both are very hardworking gals and gone thru alot b4 becoming famous now. and on the whole, i think rainie is better in acting while Jolin is better than singing and dancing. rainie is younger and thru DBY she has gained alot more fans thus reporters often term her as the succesor of Jolin. sucessor of Jolin means her position in the showbiz is already higher than rainie's..i just hope that pple can stop comparing or else jolin fans who like rainie may start to dislike her and rainie fans who like jolin will start to dislike her too. and comments like what i have made here are oso inavoidable because fans will surely protect their own idols.

Singing is very difficult, both have their own talents, and both are equally good; from that I mean both are drawn to different types of music, and both have great vocals in their style of music…I’ve listened to some of Jolin’s slow songs, personally I felt they were quite good, but not as good as Rainie when it comes to slow songs, however she’s great and better than Rainie when it comes to fast paced songs. The difficulty in these 2 styles of music are equally big; when only recording, slow songs are actually harder to sing, because the bg music is softer, hence the singer needs to increase the sharpness of their vocals, sometimes there are long holds in the songs, and when the singers reach that high note, they may become short of breath. However, when sung live, fast songs are a lot harder to achieve because the singers who concentrate mainly on that type of music are dance artists (such as Jolin); their performance involves singing AND dancing at the same time…the reason why it’s so difficult is because it’s hard for the artists to maintain their voice whilst dancing, because they become short of breath and that can most certainly affect their vocals…that is why many dance artists lip-synch during their performance…it’s NOT because they can’t sing, it’s because the difficulty in that type of performance is just too big…if u have tried singing whilst u dance, then u will understand just how hard it is.
That also makes Rainie’s lacking performance understandable; because she is NOT a dance artist, she is a basic vocalist, so her performance does NOT require her to dance and sing at the same time, hence the reason why her performances are not as spectacular as Jolin’s, so she doesn’t use her dancing skills much…it still means that Jolin performs better, but it’s NOT Rainie’s own personal faults; because she is not a dance artist, she doesn’t dance much during her performances, and sometimes companies don’t allow their artists to concentrate on one particular area…I remember when Rainie was working on her ‘Ai Mei’ album, she wanted to do more dancing and record more fast dance songs, but SonyBMG did not let her and told her to concentrate on her singing instead, so she rarely worked on her dance skills…but she’s still a good dancer since ‘4 In Love’.

Overall, I guess what I’m trying to say is that both girls are unique in their own ways, and it all comes down to everyone’s own preferences…and both girls have their own fans; to the hearts of these fans, their idol’s are always going to be the best

ya i agree with you...now i don't like rainie,because she is compared with jolin,and it is nowt worthed.....cos i think no point of comparing thistwo actress,each have their own unique...and i think jolin is more sucessful in music than rainie,i personally think that rainie only can sing slow songs and not fast one,jolin can sing both,and ithink evryone know that jolin is the queen of music in taiwan and not rainie...rainie is just cute and nothing else,she can't act really well so does jolin...i'm sorry ifi offended anyone here

Both of them are different. Jolin is older than Rainie. Rainie is still young and she had improved a lot. She's only 20, so what if she's childish & cute. She's entitled to be childish & cute.So don't blame her for acting her age. As for Jolin,when she came down to Malaysia for last year summer concert she's a snob towards her fans. From then onwards I disliked her a lot.

but from face, they are pretty much different, company want rainie to act cute as her "trademark" as Jolin's trademark is probably more sexy n mature?
i watched few shows of rainie, she did mention that in real life, she's not always act cute, but because u know how the singer/artist have to have one special trademark, so company make her acting cute since her face also support it...
