'I do want to look sexy'

Singer Michelle Branch on wearing next to nothing for that magazine spread

Fans can catch her in the flesh when she comes to town for the MTV Asia Awards to be staged at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Feb 14.

Branch will be co-hosting the awards show with F4's Vanness Wu.

While the boy band may be huge in Asia, Branch has never heard of them - until just before this interview.

When told of the band's popularity here, she said she's "excited" about sharing hosting duties with Vanness and adds that she's going to find out more about him on the internet.

Sugababes, A*Mei, Sammi Cheng For MTV Asia Awards 2004!
January 30, 2004

The MTV Asia Awards 2004 is absolutely going to be babelicious with sexy British pop princesses, Sugababes, Taiwanese songbird, Chang Hui Mei (affectionately known as A*Mei) and sensational Queen of Canto Pop, Sammi Cheng, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Valentine's Day. They will be adding that flaming feminine touch that will leave a blazing trail in the hearts of fans and viewers. Taiwanese hip-hop group, Machi, will also be attending the awards and setting the crowd into a rhythmic grove with their infectious brand of music.

Sassy, glossy and seductive, Sugababes will set your hearts racing with their sexy grooves. Comprising Keisha Buchanan, Mutya Buena and Heidi Range, the U.K pop princesses broke the mould with their fresh attitude, passion for music and an instinctive grasp of street reality in their music. Scoring international headlines and numerous accolades in their musical journey, they recently launched their new album entitled Three, featuring the new single "Hole In The Head." Fans and viewers are definitely going to be treated to a "taste" of these sexy eye-candy personalities who will add sexy cool glamour to the awards!

A*Mei is no stranger to the legions of fans who have witnessed her rise to mega stardom since her discovery through a singing competition. The Taiwanese songbird's soulful and powerful vocal abilities won her the Favourite Artist Taiwan category at the inaugural MTV Asia Awards in 2002 and has propelled her to be nominated for the same category this year. Through her songs, fans often become transported to another place and time to experience and live the lyrical moment. Her new album released in 2003, Yong Gan (Courage), is an album that aptly describes her journey through the years as a songbird. Highly dedicated to her work in music, A*Mei personally saw to the composition and arrangement of the tracks to ensure that it reflected her unique style and magnetic personality.

Winner of the Favourite Artist Hong Kong category for 2002 and 2003, Sammi Cheng is recognized for her immense musical talent and nominated again for this year. More than just the Queen of Canto Pop, she is also a coveted actress of the Hong Kong film industry, starring in countless movies over the years. This beautiful and multi-talented lady often features her songs into her films, continuing the tradition of the complementary marriage of Cantonese music and cinema. More recently, she released a greatest hits album, Mi Century Greatest Hits, and launched her new film starring with Jerry Yen and Andy Lau called Magic Kitchen.

"Hip-hop is an attitude and way of life" is the motto that the all-boy group Machi lives by. Highly passionate about their music, they deem the art of music as a way of life, an innate element for survival and the binding spirit shared among the group. The Taiwanese band adds a unique twist to hip-hop, creating a new identity in the music scene and spreading the popularity of their music through its infections tunes. Come on down to the Singapore Indoor Stadium and feel your body reverberate with their hip-hop beats and see how they set your feet moving at the event!

They will join the previously announced scroll of top international and Asian artists to gather under one roof at Asia's most glamorous and memorable event. Hosted by Michelle Branch and Vanness Wu, the glittering list of stars coming to bring the house to a fever pitch include 5566, Black Eyed Peas, Blue, Gareth Gates, Liberty X, Simple Plan, Stacie Orrico, Han Hong and Sun Nan (China); Iwan Fals, Mocca and Audy (Indonesia); BoA (Korea); Too Phat, Siti Sarah, Misha Omar and Siti Nurhaliza (Malaysia); Rivermaya (Philippines); Tanya Chua (Singapore); Armchair, Blackhead, "Bird" Thongchai McIntyre, Boyd Kosiyabong, Parn-Thanaporn and Tata Young (Thailand).

The Awards this year is supported by a strong lineup of international and local brands with HP, Philips and Toyota Motor Corporation leading as this year’s official partner sponsors while Club Med comes on board as associate sponsor for the Korea, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand markets. On a local level, McDonald’s and Mentari are local sponsors in Indonesia, Wall’s Cornetto in Malaysia, Addict Mobile and SMG Play as local sponsors in the Philippines and StarHub is a local sponsor in Singapore. In strong support of the MTV Asia Awards since the inaugural event in 2002, Singapore Tourism Board (STB) will also continue to support the world-class award show, promoting it beyond the shores of Singapore.

Vanness' ear piercing

Vanness Wu is the one who likes beauty the most out of
F4. He cut his hair for his movie and it indeed looks meager. However, his
previously rare exposure of his ear has now become the focus of people's
attention. How to adorn his ear has become Vanness' new worry. Vanness
said, "Mother said that I can't pierce my ears because this will cause
disfiguring." Although many teenages don't care about these words,
Vanness instead obeys and doesn't dare violate it.

But Vanness has another interpretation of his mother's words, "She said
that I can't pierce the outer part of the ear. That's why I avoid piercing the
outer ear and earlobe and pierce the inner part." Following, he began to
reveal his new piercing. He pierced his inner right ear and his left ear, where
his face and ears connect, very novel.

Another agony of cutting his hair short is the worry of his face appearing to
big, Vanness said, "I'm very, very easily get fat." In order to correspond
with his boxing role in his new movie, Vanness went on a diet and
shadowboxed. Everyday he only had 2 meals; one meal he ate broccoli with
egg and the other was canned tuna with hot peppers. So how much weight
did Vanness lose? Vanness said with a scrowl, "I didn't dare weigh myself,
only was able to look in the mirror and see the results. I'm afraid that once
I see my weight drop I would loosen up." Never thinking of unexpectedly
losing his 6-pack, makes Vanness considerably complacent.

2/4 Bringing F4 in the Philippines by Yamaha, by Billy Balbastro
(Abante Tonite)

Norkis Trading (the local distributor of Yamaha in the country) is
ironing out plans of bringing F4 here in the Philippines.

F4 is the international endorser of Yamaha and their Switch campaign
has already started.

We went to the Yamaha Launching of Crypton R and Crypton Z held at
Merk's Bar (Yes, this is Richard Merk's bar) in Greenbelt 3 last
Monday. And according to Manuel (Boy) Albos, Jr. of Norkis, they will
launch Yamaha Novo in May.

F4 will also come to this big event, may there be a concert or not.

We also learned from Boy and Joel Sarmenta (Marketing Manager) that
F4 will have a new TV series in Taiwan. They will be in motorcycles
in this series.

Incidentally, Ka Alfie (Brother Alfie) and Zar Baisas are reminding
us that Jerry Yan's movie, Magic Kitchen, where he is the assistant
cook, is the Valentine presentation here in Metro Manila.

Magic Kitchen will start showing on February 11.

Jordan Chan intervenes in Vanness and Vivian's relationship

“Rumor King” Jordan Chan and Cecilia Cheng’s rumors have been continuously entangled. Recently, Taiwan spread rumors that Jordan is involved in Vivian Hsu and Vanness Wu’s relationship. There was news directed at Jordan and Vivian going to karaoke together and sang until the dawn. And Vivian and Vanness’ affection has become weak, facing the problem of a break up.

It is said that Vivian and Vanness are at the stage of breaking up because they are frequently located in two different places. Nowadays it’s said that Jordan intervened. Vanness’ manager refused to comment on the rumor, indicating that Vanness and Vivian have always just been good friends, never did they admit they had a relationship. There is no need for Vanness to make any comments whatsoever on Vivian’s rumors.

Vanness Wu: The host?

This is Vanness's personal interview "H" stands for host and "VW" stands for Vanness Wu.
You may imagine Vanness speaking so fast, being very animated and smiling constantly.

VW : Thank you! it's great to be a host! in MTV? Can you imagine?

Vanness did you expect that you would be chosen to be host of MTV and that you are that popular to be chosen?

VU: No, Not expecting it! It 's great to see how many different kinds of people really watch MTV and love music! So, I didn't expect it, I'll just do my best; I wanted to do something new for the world of music and it came through World tours, live appearances, awards, interviews... can someone as popular as you cope with the weight of so many obligations?

VW: Yeah, I think so , because it didn't come as a total shock to me; I have always liked to travel, and people who liked the music and bought the album, always want to hear the person who plays to talk about it. Ok, I may be exposing myself to people almost everyday, but it's always a pleasure.

What is the meaning of success for you, besides being loved by the fans?

VW: I think that success is something that is, a personal definition. I think that for anything I do , it's a success if I've done it as best as I could do in that situation, if I'm happy with my performance , whether its a concert or anything. Success is, giving everything through your work, through what you love.

How does your family cope with your success?

VW: They're really excited, my mum is great, and they're really excited by what I've been doing and they've always played a big part in my success.

Tell us, how do you imagine yourself 20 years later?

VW: I think I have already answered that on our conversation! Ok, Twenty years! I hope I'd still be enjoying music. I think music will always be a big part of my life; as long as I enjoy it, as long as the people keep giving their appreciation to my music... But I think
I'll be working at different things, that don't interest me at the moment, but music is always going to be my thing , in 20 years or in 30 years.

MTV Asia Interview with Wu Jianhao

Brief translate from : Http://ent.Sina.Com.Cn 14/2/04 19:46 Sina entertainment

How do you feel hosting such big event as MTV Asia ?
Feel a bit nervous but hope i can manage very well, actually this committee
let me do the host, I felt very surprised, i dont have any experience
hosting such large-scale activity before, I feel honored.
I was just arrived, then i cut my hair shorter, only takes 20 minutes
to cut, i want to host this MTV Asia with relaxed image.

on F4

After F4, each one get chance to develop their own personal interest,
I long for a grow up, mature, so I thought must have individuality
career also. F4 gave me so much, it was the beginning of my
entertainment career, wherever you go from here can never forget where
you come from, and each one of us are attached very much with F4. F4
cannot disband, only now each one handles own matter, each person
also wants respectively to develop own characteristic, highlights own
special skill, respectively develops respective characteristic!

Which aspect through hosting big event such MAA, you want to develop
more from now on ? Is it hosting ?

Does not want to develop skill in hosting area, or wants to pay great
attention to, because my Chinese is not good, this time, MTV Asia
Award needs to use English, because I am grow up in US,
my English is very good, therefore they choose me.

MAA style always to be unrestrained, let the audience feel free and
relaxed style. Regarding the partner is Michelle Branch, also felt very
good, I frequently listen to Michelle Branch song, but never met her,
so we only meet each other here, also did not have many preparations,
so hope our cooperation to be good!

How completes this MAA hosting work?
I can use each way to adjust indignantly, originally I want to put on
leisure clothing, but because this is very large-scale and a very grand
activity, has prepared the formal clothing for this activity.

As for the color, now cannot disclose, certainly is the proper color ,
I cannot put on the pink color (cause MAA theme is Vals Day)
... for clothing, I do not like the pink color.

About album, I definitely am transcribe the new special edition in the
American sound recording, it is my national language special edition,
prepares to promote in the summer vacation. Therefore definitely is
in the work.

Michelle Branch

What do you think about Wu Jianhao ?

Wu Jianhao is a very humorous very open and bright person also very
gentlement, When crossing the street together, he wait for me to walk
first then follow. I saw so many people to gather round Wu Jianhao,
asks him to sign, delivers the flower, only then knew he is very famous.
Also we have established very good friendship through this and before
this, i never would have thought can know an asian actors even more
have such good friendship with him.

Fallen angels, lingerie

Inquirer News Service

Cabaret start

SINGAPORE -- "Pussycat dolls" in bold neon lights - that was the first thing that popped onto viewers' eyes the minute the MTV Asia Awards 2004 started.

When the show was off to a "Cabaret" start with blondes and brunettes doing a striptease, I couldn't believe I was in the Lion City. "I think I need to change my shorts," host Vanness Wu of F4 fame (again, I am not the official F4 chronicler) confessed on air. And what a precedent it was -- with host Michelle Branch wearing a barely -- there pink dress that went down to her navel, revealing half of her breasts, but not racy enough to pull off a Janet.

"Janet Jackson is in the audience!" the Indian VJ shouted. The crowd cheered. "Oh, sorry-it's just a guy with a nipple ring!"

Later, quirky video clips of fallen angels trying their luck on earth (alongside the Valentine's theme-the trophies were Cupid statuettes with golden sashes that doubled as CD players, made by sponsor Philips perhaps) would amuse audiences in between commercials.

The first presenter was the Taiwanese boy band 5566. In their best Chinese-accented English, they said, "And the winner is..."-then they all screamed -- "G String!" -- and exposed a lingerie, where the name of the winner was stated. Another presenter, Irish crooner Derek McDonald, even wore the lingerie atop his jeans, to the delight of the 7,000-strong audience that had gathered from all over Asia at the Singapore Indoor Stadium to witness this event in its three-year existence.

The regional awards were given out first. One by one, Asia's top acts were given their due recognition (as Favorite Artist). Pop diva Mariah Carey got hearts all fired up when she made a surprise appearance to accept a Lifetime Achievement Award while Linkin Park clinched two awards for favorite rock act and favorite video, while Blue won favorite pop act for the second year running.

"Parokya Ni Edgar" won the Favorite Artist (Philippines) award, beating two-year winner Regine Velasquez. "Regine is nice. I hope Regine would not get mad at us," said Dindin of Parokya. Other countries like Hong Kong (Sammi Cheng), Malaysia (GMA look-alike Siti Nurhaliza) and Singapore (Stephanie Sun) had their winners for the third straight year-which goes to show how Asians are really such creatures of habit.

The new winners, though, present a new breed of what is to come for Asia, and hopefully, the world. BoA, winner of Most Influential Artist and Favorite Artist (Korea), may soon be a hot act all over Asia, with Japan signing her up. Even non-nominee Tata Young of Thailand just got signed up with Columbia (the one who developed Beyonce, Celine Dion, among others) for a global development deal.

Opening the floodgates

Winners and losers aside, I think what the MTV Asia Awards have done is open the floodgates for Asian talent. Artist collaborations, like Siti Nurhaliza of Malaysia singing onstage with Gareth Gates of the UK, and Stacie Orrico jamming with Malaysian rap group Too Phat and Singapore's Urban Exchange, were a definite treat. "Seeing more artists work together is something very inspiring," said new pop artist Javier.

"We should show the world what Asians can do. We want to bring Asian music to the world music scene-we are the new Asian youth. If Japan buys Chinese music, then hopefully in the future Westerners will buy Chinese music, too," said Too Phat and Urban Exchange. They don't have to worry about the Philippine market though, as we have embraced Chinese music all too well.

Years ago, I just ignored the other artists and focused my eyes on the Filipino artists and the global acts. F4 is one of those breakthrough acts that have shattered the Canto-pop stereotype and broken the language barrier. I'm sure there is more to come. Especially now as Asia and the world get smaller, I won't be surprised in the future to see Korean music being played on our local airwaves, or Filipino acts performing in a sold-out concert in Singapore, with more than just Filipinos filling the audience.

Even the acts from the West are learning more about Asia. When boyband Blue first went to the Asia Awards, they weren't aware of countries like Malaysia and Indonesia. "I've never been good with geography, so it's been a continuing education for me," said Lee of Blue.

Highlight

A sure highlight for me was when APL (short for Alan Pineda Lindo, from Pampanga) of Black Eyed Peas went onstage and announced proudly, "I'm Filipino, so for my brothers in the Philippines, kamusta kayo diyan?" Buwi of Parokya ni Edgar demonstrated Pinoy pride by wearing our flag, embroidered on his black tank top. Attaboy!

Rivermaya's Ric Blanco put it best when he said, "I'm so proud of people like APL of Black Eyed Peas and Mutya of Sugababes who haven't forgotten their roots despite their success. Bottom line: It's really about a true love for music and the desire to make people smile."

I got a kick out of listening to Chinese rap, with Vanness "You'll-see-more-hip-hop-in-my-music" Wu's "homeboys" Machi (which means "brotherhood")-Oriental Marky Marks raising the roof on the Asian punters. "I guess we're the only ones who do hip-hop -- real hip-hop." And they've collaborated with Missy Elliot, too.

I got goosebumps watching Indian pop princess Isha Kopikar add color to the stage with a bevy of Indian dancers, and Thai idol "Bird" Thongchai McIntyre belt it out with other Thai singers.

Backstage at the press room, an "American Idol" scenario prevailed, with the artists trying to impress the media with their antics. Some of them sang, danced, did acrobatics and kicked each other in the balls just to make an impression. "There's only two kinds of music-the good and the bad. We're... okay," said Simple Plan, who was jokingly sourgraping backstage on their non-victory.

Stacie Orrico, upon leaving the photo room, complained about her heels and proceeded to take them off, changing to slippers as she walked toward her dressing room. Singapore security was so strict that I saw Frank Brown, MTV president, having a hard time entering the press room on his way to the sponsor's cocktails. Stephanie Sun confessed that her boyfriend wanted to watch the show, but didn't have a ticket to enter. Poor guy.

Christina Aguilera, who looks like a young Liza Minelli, appeared on video to accept her favorite artist award. People backstage cheered when her name was announced, winning over Britney. They changed their mood and booed when Mariah was called for her award. Aah, these divas.

Michelle Yeoh presented an award to the late HK superstar Anita Mui. Yeoh received an award for herself, the Asian Film Award, for her contribution to the Asian film industry.

The show ended on a high note, with the multi-ethnic rap crew Black Eyed Peas (who went to Singapore fresh from the Grammy's), dazzling spectators with "Where is the Love?" (They're coming to Manila on May 22.) How apt for a Valentine's night. When I asked them the same question backstage, they answered, "We got lotsa lovin' from the crowd."

Talkin' about lovin', the after-party was full of it. At the penthouse bar Equinox, flirtation was all around as more than artist collaborations were formed. But that, my dears, is another story.

brief translation by Amy of http://f4ever.azn.nu :
It was decided that Vanness Wu, from F4, and Hebe's, from S.H.E, drama, "Qiu Hun Shi Wu Suo" (Office Proposal/Proposal Office) will be broadcasting on April 4th replacing "Lian Xiang" (Love Scent) with competition from Toro's "Xue Tian Shi" (Snow Angel) and "Xin Le Tuan De Gu Shi - Si Le Dou Yao Ai" (Xin Le Tuan's Story - Dead But Still Will Love). All the shows have been doing well so there's a lot of competition during prime time.

Michelle Branch talking abt Vanness

Having shunned the all too common sophomore slump, Michelle Branch remains hot and so made a wonderful choice as co-host with F4's Vanness Wu at the recently concluded MTV Asia Awards 2004 held in Singapore.

Charming and articulate, the 20-year-old singer-songwriter looked fresh as a daisy in her black get-up as she parked herself cross-legged on the Fullerton Hotel couch, eager to respond to any query -- including questions about love, this year's theme at the MTV Asia Awards -- posed by the press the day before she shared her hosting duty with Vanness. Branch, incidentally, was nominated in the Favourite Female Artist award that went to Christina Aguilera. Read on.

And how do you feel about working with Vanness?

You know, I didn't know the extent of Vanness' fame. I didn't know anything about him. We're both from Los Angeles and we were hanging out, and he was very mellow -- we were in the hotel doing the commercials for the Awards, and I was like, "He's really cool, he's really mellow, he's laidback." And everyone was like, "He's like, the Justin Timberlake of Asia!"

I was, like, "No, you're kidding! Really?" I had no idea -- and then he gets here, and there's, like, hundreds of girls at the airport waiting for him! We were running 'round, rehearsing, and doing stuff yesterday, and there's security all over him. Girls were freaking out! And I was just, like, "You're rightˇK [giggles] I couldn't believe it!"

And he's so nice, and we've had so much fun! And I'm happy that I'm co-hosting with him 'because he tells me how to pronounce everyone's names correctly and he's been very helpful.

Vanness Wu Great Newcomer
Happy being nominated Wish to me a lunatic

The one who ran first in the movie entertainment Vanness Wu of F4, recently got nominated for the Movie award, he got nominated as this time's HK Jing Xiang Jiang Best Newcomer with Star Runner. Vanness said, " I'm happy that i'm nomindated, hopes to be a lunactic or unbalanced person the next time." He is now recording his new album in Ameria, he'll be a babysitter when he's free, taking his brother and sister out ot play.

7,8 pm in Los Angelas, Vanness took his brother and went on a 25 miute ride in his car to meet up with his friends to play basketball. Normally, he doesn't have time to accompany his younger brother. This time, not only he's back for recording, he trys to fork out time to take them out, Vanness laughed and said, " I often bully them while i was young, now, they're sticking to me all the time, i feel so guilty."

Vanness's character is honest and cheerful, and has talents. Talking about his new album, he says its made out of blood and sweat. While going to Singapore to host the MTV Asia Awards was very outstanding, MTV invited him to host the whole event. As his movie, Star Runner even got nominated as the Best Newcomer, even Jerry Yan praised that it was tough on Vanness fliming a movie. Vanness who thinks about other alot said, " Fliming love stories or stories with love is even harder, no matter how tough is it fliming action movies, it won't be as hard as the soldiers."

Star Runner, action movie, allowed Vanness and An Zhi Jie to become good friends. Previously, An Zhi Jie worked with SHu Qi and also in many other shows, his experience was great. Being nominated as the Best Newcomer together with Vanness, Vanness said, " When i knew he was nominated, i immediately congratulated him, we're friends, i didn't think that much. " It was funny, though Vanness could experience the freedom life in US, he misses Taiwan alot. He says he misses his friends, colleagues, environment. He doesn't miss the food, because he gets fat easily and has to control. Asked whether he misses the misses the rumoured Vivian Hsu, Vanness laughed and said, " You're thinking too much."

Clara Enriquez

Vanness Wu of F4 fame has taken the entertainment scene by storm as a soloist. As a member of the biggest Taiwanese pop act, F4, it comes as no surprise that he is enjoying huge success on his own.

From the popular soap opera (Meteor Garden I and II), smash records (Meteor Rain, Body Will Sing, and Fantasy 4ever), music videos, and the Star Runner film, the versatile performer came into his own as singer-songwriter Michelle Branch's co-host at the recently concluded MTV Asia Awards 2004 in Singapore.

Remarkably, Vanness remains unassuming despite his success, as evident in the following rap session at the Fullerton Hotel the day before the Awards.

* * *

Are you excited to be co-hosting the MTV Asia Awards 2004?

I'm pretty excited for the big event, yeah! When I first heard about this, yeah, I was pretty excited. And I just can't wait to do it!

Why do you think MTV picked you as a host?

Pick me? I have no idea why they picked me! Probably because I could speak English.

Do you think that's your strength as a host?

Well, in this sense, yeah. If you tell me to speak Mandarin in Taiwan, that wouldn't be my strong point but I will try my best at it. But, you know, probably just...I can goof off on stage probably. I'm really, you know, easygoing and willing to do anything just in the name of fun. I like to enjoy myself and have fun!

Time and again, you have changed your look in keeping with your pretty boy image, as you have now. What can you say about that?

On being a pretty boy? Oh, no, this is just temporary! I mean, my hair was long; I was in America for a while, so it just grew out and then I had a change.

It's not really saying, like, "Okay, we're changing styles." We're just going for a different image all around. It's just enjoying yourself, you know -- have fun, have different looks, be different. You know?

But, you know, I'm still the same person as I am; I'm still the same person as I was before. And image is just image -- it's nothing.

Is it difficult to maintain?

The only thing difficult to maintain for me is my weight because I gain weight really easy. For the movie I lost a lot of weight.

How did you do that?

I had a very strict diet of just vegetables and protein, and canned tuna fish. And that's all I ate! I didn't really eat anything too over the top like, say, you know, steak. I couldn't even touch it!

And just working out and shooting fighting scenes 10 hours a day, and just keep on intense working out. So that helped a lot, and I lost the weight with that.

But right after I was done, it's [blows a kiss] back to hamburgers and, you know, cheeseburgers and all that! It's difficult but it's fun, you know?

What's the story behind the movie?

The story behind it? Actually, I was really lucky on this movie project because of everybody that worked on this movie gave it their 100% -- all their time and energy they spent, you know.

Nowadays it's hard to get an actor to have all his time and energy on one movie 'because a lot of actors these days, they also do singing and they also do TV hosting, right, at the same time. So they only have, maybe, one week to shoot this part and then they gotta do something else.

But this time, the actress, the actors, the cast, the crew, the director -- everybody just, day and night, two and a half months straight; everybody was together and every day just seeing each other. And so towards the end of it we all became like a family. You know, like this family environment that even now, to this day -- me and the director, me and the trainers and the other actors -- we're still very close friends.

So out of that whole experience, anything I got out of it was just really good. A great experience and good friendships!

Any plans to do another movie?

Hopefully, hopefully. Right now I'm just focusing a lot of my energy and time on my second book. And as soon as that's done and as soon as I'm finished promoting that, hopefully I'll be back to act as well.

Between singing and acting, which do you enjoy better?

In one phrase it's so close and yet so far. So similar and so different, you know? They're both very, very draining at times, but then they're both so exhilarating, rewarding.

So when you're acting, you're working so hard, like, three days on just, maybe, two minutes' worth of footage. And then after the end of these months, you finally see the [finished] product on the big screen and you're, like, "Wow!" It's a whole different feeling!

With singing it's on stage and you're singing to the audience, and you're feeding off their reaction. You're feeding off their energy, you know? And you're just going for an hour and a half straight of just, like, jumping around and moving around.

"They're so different but, at the same time, it's such a high!"

Nowadays do you still get excited on stage?

Well, of course! You know, I'm always excited when I'm on stage to see fans, to see people, to be able to perform. It's always exciting!

And which song do you enjoy performing most?

Which song? There are so many songs! And they're all so different, and they're all nice. So there isn't one that I particularly like to perform, but...just pick one? Really, I can't!

I just love the different crowds and the people, so to pick one...? Because they all have different reactions to them I really can't, I'm sorry!

You used to dance before joining F4?

It was just for fun, while we were growing up as kids, I was in a dance group. Me and another friend, and Kenny of Machi -- we would do dance competitions at car shows and stuff like that. That was when I really enjoyed being on stage! To get on stage and just dancing, and then hear the crowd just bouncing and cheering and everything -- that's when I realized, "I like this feeling!" It's cool, you know?

How do you feel about the phenomenal success of F4 in the Asian region and in the Philippines in particular, where there is a language barrier?

I take it as a blessing; it's a gift from God, yeah. It's not every day that many people will be able to do what they love to do and to be able to cross boundaries of one so big, you know, to not even understand what the person is saying but for them to welcome me into their homes and country, and to be able to enjoy their culture and to learn new experiences -- it's very humbling. I just hope I'm not taking it for granted.

What is it about the group or your music that you think people can relate to?

To be honest, I think it was just the TV show. It was a good TV show! It had good chemistry; it had a good story. The characters were just fun, and there wasn't really anything behind it! ...We just wanted to make people enjoy a good show, you know; have a good time while they're watching, you know, an hour of that segment of that show. It wasn't saying, "Oh, we're gonna make new boundaries with these."

When we heard that Indonesia liked us, you know, "What?" When we heard that, you know, Thailand was... I heard that call, "Huh?" And then the last one, they said, Philippines, I went, "Oh, my God! Get out! Really?" And then, "They want you guys to go!"

I have a lot of Filipino friends when I was growing up in high school. So when I told my friends, "You know, I'm going to the Philippines," [they said] "I haven't been to the Philippines in 19 years and you're going to perform there? That's funny!" It's funny the way things work, but it's very nice!

[Do you get jealous of each other's individual success, considering some of you are bigger than the others?

Well, I don't think we're necessarily bigger; we just have a different fan base. We don't really look at it as who's bigger, who's what. We just look at it as what we each have to give; we each have different enjoyments, you know, working.

Mine is I like to sing and dance, and we all like acting, of course. But it's just different types of characters, too.

I'm really an active type of person: I love running around, jumping around, and just goofing off. So for the first movie when they told me it was gonna be an action movie, I was, like, "Yes!" I was, like, "Oh, yeah!" And so that was awesome, but we're really happy for each other! And everything that everybody else does, we're really excited for each other.

Have you guys seen American Idol? You know, Clay and Reuben? Like he said, the media doesn't want to talk about them unless, you know, they say they're at each other's throats; unless they don't like each other.

It's kinda the same for us, too: People say that we don't get along and then we're not friends, and all that stuff. But the thing is if we don't get along, why would any of us be here today? Or for the premiere of my movie in Taiwan, why would the rest of them all show up?

The media was very surprised that the rest of them showed up, actually. And I was, like, "Why? We're friends, you know! What's wrong with you?" They're so into their own world and they're so into, like, what they write down; what they believe is true. By some meaning, I don't know how they fathom all that stuff up! But it's so funny that they believe what they write so immensely, you know? And in the end it's like, "Hello! You know? What is this? You know?"

We're all still very good friends; we don't get jealous of each other at all. We're very happy!

F2 to be in new drama, "Soccer Boy"

Following “Meteor Garden 2,” Ken Zhu and Vanness Wu will have a chance to act together once more in a new drama “Zu Qiu Xiao Zi” (Soccer Boy). At the moment, the female lead is most likely going to be Lin Yi Chen.

Manager Xiong Xiu Zhen revealed, in Taiwan and China, F4 has a vast amount of die-hard fans. She plans to collaborate with Shanghai TV. The idol drama, “Zu Qiu Xiao Zi” will have F4 as the leading roles. However, due to the fact that Jerry Yan wants to develop in the movie industry, and Vic Zhou (Zai Zai) is currently filming a new drama already, the 4 are unable to work together. Therefore, right now F2, Ken and Vanness, are the male leads. And Lin Yi Chen will play the female lead.

Xiong Xiu Zhen said, “I hope that the female lead has a considerably famous degree in both Taiwan and mainland. And Lin Yi Chen’s movie “Kong Shou Dao Shao Nu” is broadcasting in China and she also was nominated for the Golden Horse Awards. I believe that no matter it be popularity, acting skills, she is the best choice for the female lead.”

Lin Yi Chen’s broker Zhou Mei Yu expressed that she won’t rule out that she’ll arrange for Lin Yi Chen to go towards China to film. However, currently, besides “My Secret Garden 2” and “Love Contract,” in June she might be working with Zheng Yuan Chang in a new drama, “Mischievous Kiss.” Plus, Lin Yi Chen has schoolwork. Therefore there is not exact “landing” date, not only China dramas but even at a discussing stage. So it’s inconvenient to reveal the situation in detail. Lin Yi Chen is very popular; her invitations for dramas are endless.

Pardon, what’s your name again?

When F4’s Vanness Wu was here recently for movie promotions, a curious reporter stood up and asked: “Were your parents hoping for a girl to call Vannessa when then had you?

Vanness chuckled – though he’s probably heard the question a zillion times.

For the record, the American-born star did not choose it himself.

It was his parents who named him after a road in Los Angeles, known as Van Ness.

But, at least his unique name had made many people sit up and take note.

Welcome to the world of Asian showbiz, where some celebrities pick the most bizarre names for themselves.

What’s a walking road sign when compared to, say, Noddle, Jingle, and Shooky?

Is it just bad English? Or do these ludicrous names have logical explanations?

Here we try to unearth the stores behind every unique celebrity name.

Manila Bulletin article.

What Makes Taiwanese Groups Tick?

After the sensational F4 comes another popular group from Taiwan, the 5566. I'm sure there are other groups making a name in Taiwan but these two are very likely the most popular.

......We were asked not to ask the 5566 any questions about F4 but how could the press not think of the F4 when they are face-to-face with a group from the same country? Anyway, the group said that despite their being competitors, they are good friends with F4 when
they're off the stage. "We hope one day we will be as popular as them," they said.

QUOTE (gemboree @ Mar 1 2004 8 01 AM)

Here we try to unearth the stores behind every unique celebrity name.

continuation....

THE BOY BANDS

Seems like weird names run in Taiwanese boy bands.

Besides F4's Vanness , there's also Energy's Milk, Comic Boyz's Kingone and Shone, and K-One's Kido.

Milk, or Niu Nai in Mandarin, is named after his favourite beverage, and has fair skin to go with his moniker.

Kingone's moniker is a play on his Chinese name Wang Chuan Yi. Wang means king, and Yi is one.

As for Shone and Kido, we can only hope they're not spelling errors.

THE MANY FANS

The Fans in showbiz are a creative bunch when it comes to choosing English names.

Taiwanese balladeer Fan Yi-chen, for one, picked Van (yes, as in the vehicle), simply because it rhymes with his surname.

Award-winning Taiwanese actor Fan Zhi-wei, however, calls himself Wing, after his favourite actor Tony Leung Chiu Wai's character in the 1996 movie, Blind Romance.

Right here in Singapore, we have a Fan who is known by her surname in English.

Fann Wong, or Fan Wen-fang in Mandarin, was originally known as Fann Woon Fong.

But she made her debut as a model with just her surname, Fann. Some Singaporeans mixed her up with another model, Fawn Wong, and she's been known as Fann Wong since.

Incidentally, Wong is also her mum's surname.

EAT MY NAME

Beside Energy's Milk, Channel U's Apple Hong also named herself after her favourite food. Apple, that is.

So, does it mean Fish Leong loves fish?

Nah. The Malaysian singer calls herself Fish because that's what people call her in Cantonese.

Her name is pronounced Zheng-yu, and people always call her Ah Yu affectionately. Yu means fish in Cantonese.

WACKY DIRECTORS

Directors, too, have unusual names. Consider Jingle Ma, Fruit Chen and Oxide Pang.

Jingle said he got his name from colleagues at the hair salon where he used to work - 'everyone said I was too talkative, like jingle bells'.

Fruit is a direct translation of his Chinese name Chen Guo. Guo means fruit.

And Oxide, whose Chinese name is Pang Shun, named himself after the gaseous element he learnt about in chemistry class.

MULTI-NAMED CELEBS

Is it Ekin, Noodle, Dior or Eric Cheng? This Hong Kong movie star has changed his English name more often than he did his hair style.

Ekin is adapted from his Chinese name Yee Kin. He's also nicknamed Noodle, as Yee Kin sounds like a type of Chinese noodle, yi meen.

Dior reportedly came about when his baby sister mispronounced 'yi gor', or second brother in Cantonese.

There's also talk that it was his hairdresser who suggested the name.

As for Eric, that's supposedly the name that appears in the US versions of his movies.

He's not alone though.

Malaysian actress-singer Lee Sin Je also can't seem to decide on her English name.

Once she called herself Jet, after her favourite gongfu star Jet Li. More recently, she gave herself the name Angelica. Now she's just Lee Sin Je.

Tommy Su of Little Tigers, changed his name to mark an image change. Now that he's gone solo, he's known as Alec.

Soft-porn star Loletta Lee has also switched to the more tame Rachel.

SOFT-PORN STARS

As if being sexy is not enough, some soft-porn actresses need unique names too. Chingmy Yau Suk Ching comes to mind, as well as Shooky Kwan Sau Mei.

They've been known by these one-of-its-kind monikers since 1987, when both joined the Miss Hong Kong pageant.

JERRY TRIO: EACH HAS DIFFERENT APPEAL

SOME English names are so common - and may we add, boring - that one hand isn't enough to count.

Two Andys: Lau, the Heavenly King and Hui, the Heavenly King wannabe.

Two Stephens: Chow makes us laugh. Fung makes us swoon.

Two Joeys: Wong, the retired Taiwanese screen queen of the '80s, and rumoured triad princess Yung.

Two Kellys: Lin, the sexy bombshell and Chen, the ice queen.

Two Tony Leungs: Chiu Wai with the smouldering eyes and Kar Fai with the rubber face.

Two Gigis: Boyfriend snatcher Leung and pretty dimples Lai.

Two Anitas: Yuen is still going strong but Mui just left us forever.

Two Lawrences: Ng, the beanstalk television actor and Chou, the beanstalk singer.

Three Jerrys: Cute dimples Yan of Meteor Garden , Eurasian-looking Huang of The Rose, and Star Search bad boy Chang

Four Jacky/ies: There's a Jacky/Jackie for every showbiz category. Chan in gongfu flicks, Cheung in music, Wu in television variety shows and Lui in TVB dramas.

Five Michelles: Bond girl Yeoh, ex-beauty queen Reis, local Lux girl Chia, Meteor Garden star Saram, and former Channel U artiste Chong.

Vanness Wu “Proposing” Big Risk
Posted: March 2, 2004

Intensely chasing the distressed girl Hebe, noble prince Vanness shows his love. In “Qiu Hun Shi Wu Suo’s” (Office Proposal) first monophyletic, “Ma Que Bian Feng Huang” (Sparrow Transforms into a Phoenix), Hebe portrays a girl from an impoverished family. In order to marry Hebe, not only was Vanness mutinous to his family in the drama, he even eloped with her. In the end he also overcame acrophobia and stood on top of bridge and screams to Hebe, showing his love for her.

Vanness, who have played as a rich guy several times, will once again play a noble prince in “Office Proposal.” But that this time he’ll be learning “Meteor Garden’s” Bao Long and San Cai. The male is rich and the female is poor. However, to seek true love, Vanness will first break off all ties with his mother, acted by Xu Gui Ying. In order to win Hebe’s heart, the acrophobic Vanness let out tooth and nail and climbed up a bridge to shout to the world, “I swear I will definitely marry you.”

Because the winds were too strong the day of the shooting, Vanness didn’t climb up the bridge. The mischievous Hebe first said in a frightened state, “Be careful! The winds are so strong today, you must be careful or you’ll fall down!” Vanness at the side showed no signs of fear until the director ordered him to stand atop. Vanness, who was originally not afraid of heights, had signs of fear taking over him and blurted out, “Will we be filming long? I’m already feeling light headed!”

3/Mar/04 - F4 goes solo - Not looking good.., Lets review back F4 recent years' news.
Source: Lian He Zao Bao

Taiwanese boyband F4 after attending a March Charity concert in Hong Kong, announced the news of going solo. Unfortunately, their popularity had been falling.

Can they really fly solo? Are they up to standard? Let's look back at these 2 years what F4 achieved and have been doing.

After charity concert in Hongkong, each F4 individual dreamt of own amibition and developing their own solo career - publishing solo album and filming movies. Soon after 1 year, the results are obvious enough to see... its not appealing and unpleasent reported by the media.

About this report, F4 manager Angie Cai then unwillingly answered, "In this kind of situation, who can gaurentee 100% ticket box sale?" She feels that economy is not doing good and it is still in the state of recovering, and facing the problem of privacy, this entirely is not F4's individual's fault.

Recently, media reports claim that Angie Cai is a bloodsucker of Jerry, therefore Jerry insisted going solo in other company and instead of continuing the contract with Fu Long management. On the other side, Vic just continued his contract at the beginning of this year already. As for Ken Chu, he has already fixed a decade contract and the possibility for Vanness to continue his contract is high. Therefore, this might result them to become F4 - 1 = F3 forever.

F4 Popularity drops? Going solo is gonna help or be bad?

To find out the results, reporters and media have gathered all their 2years achievements and at the same time, discussing which member of F4 can still make it through this few years and who will fall flat.

TV/Drama Series: After flying solo, potential decreased greatly.
Let's talk about drama series first. All F4 members after shooting Meteor Garden, continued to flim other Tv/Drama Series. For Jerry, he had <Love Injury>, <Come to my home!> For Vic, he filmed <Poor Prince> and once again co-operate with Ken and came out with <Love Storm>. For Ken, he hosted <Marmalade Boy>. Lastly, for Vanness, he hosted <Marriage Office (Qiu Hun Shi Wu Suo)>.

Out of so many dramas, Jerry's <Come to My House> seemed to do better in this case. However, when comparing to 5566's <My MVP Valentine>, it seemed to lose out a bit. This made people think twice again bout their real potential.

SOUNDTRACK:LOW PURCHASE RATE OF LOVESTORM and Vic's Remember I Love YouNow, lets change the subject to Soundtrack. Previous year, ZZ released his 1st album Make a Wish as well as Vanness Body Will Sing.

These two 'hot'bods made their very first step in the music industry. Under focused publicity, Vic's virgin album squeezed in smoothly into Singapore's RIAS Year Best-Selling Album. Vanness's then a bit lower.. but it was still nominated as Best Selling Album too.

This month, Vic Zhou Yu Min released his 2nd album 'Remember I Love You' which only remain in the Taiwan G-Music's billboard for only a week. Obviously losing to 5566 and Elva Hsiao and other singers who similarly released their albums in the same month. .

Some people thinks that F4 isnt that hot anymore, but Angie Cai then disagrees that because ZZ released his album around the Chinese New Year. So less publicity was did and plus the roaring of piracy products.

Another 2 members, Jerry Yan and Ken Chu then never had their albums released yet. If the delay is because that they cannot find suitable songs, then theres nothing they can do. But if they are to delayed any further, perhaps, it will affect greatly their popularity and attention by fans.

MOVIE INDUSTRY: Vanness awaits Korean Movie industry.

Now to Movies. Among the 4 members, only Vic have not join in the crowd.

Comparing to performance, Vanness did a good job and making a new perfect appearance. However, no matter where we see, only his body improve more than his heart. or probably, Vanness' role is better to make use of than the role that Jerry hosted in Magic Kitchen, secretly falling in love with Sammi.

Ken acted as a student in Sky of Love. His acting skills is so-so, but worst, this movie is originally extracted from a Korean movie. If audience is to compare both of this test, i am afraid to say that it is not to ken's advantage.

When comparnig ticket box sales, no one did good. Magic Kitchen had the benefit of releasing in Chinese New Year and acting with Andy Lau and Sammi Cheung, but never did they thought it will crash with another big blockbuster movie: Gui Ma Kuang Xiang Qu which did better.

Vanness is then waiting for Star Runner to be filmed in Korean. He also awaits for better results as he is acting with Korean Hot female star or maybe stepping into Korean music industry?

In conclusion from the results above, we can actually confirmed that F4's popularity did fell after the individual fled solo. For Jerry who always is the main lead, in anywhere, he still can develop further. As for the other 3, there are more for them to catch up. Especially for Ken, he needs to put in more effort.

The following article is an interview by a newspaper (or mag, i'm not too sure) and the interviewee is Zhi Xiang Li - one of F4's managers.

Manager reveals for the 1st time, the truth about the disbandment of F4

Rumor #1: The truth about the disbandment of F4

According to a particular newspaper which reportedly received reliable news, reported that Jerry Yan, who has only 6 mths left to his existing contract with his management agency, has the intention of forming his own company for his own future developments, and he's holding a very firm stance on his decision to not extend his current contract. As such, F4 will officially disband come September. That article also provided a very clear view regarding the contracts F4 signed. That is, the 4 of them currently belong to Taiwan Fulong, Ken Chu has signed a 10-year contract a long time ago, Vic Chou has also extended his contract by 3 yrs at the start of this year, thus leaving Vanness Wu and Jerry Yan, both having 6 mths left to their contracts. Fulong is currently trying very hard to get the 2 of them to extend their contracts, as understood, the chances of Vanness extending his is very high, whereas Jerry Yan is proving to be a very difficult target, he has told Fulong straight that he intends to form his own company to manage his own developments. He's bent on leaving, as such, it's unavoidable that F4 will disband

Clarification #1

Zhi Xiang Li too seems very helpless when he was replying our questions, but still, he made the simplest rebuttal: "No such thing. It's the first time we've heard this, this rumor will occur almost every month. There's no such thing."

With regards to the particular newspaper reporting that Jerry wish to form his own company, Zhi Xiang Li clarified that actually each of F4 have all along have had their own company, that being offices opened under their own names. "They had these offices since they signed the contracts with us", Zhi Xiang Li said: "In Taiwan, every artiste will open an office of their own, this is for them to handle some of their private stuff."

As for the most debatable question regarding Jerry Yan's contract, Zhi Xiang Li insisted that Jerry's contract with them will not be ending so soon, but they have been discussing the issue of extending his contract. As for the progress of the discussion, he said: "The discussion went very happily, but this is confidential to our company.

Rumor #2: F4 is not a group

To support the 'fact' that F4 has already disbanded, that particular newspaper reported that since last year, basically each of F4 have already started on their individual developments - Jerry filmed <Magic Kitchen>, Vanness filmed <Star Runner>, Ken filmed <Sky of Love>, while Vic concentrated on filming idol drama <Love Storm>. Also, when they were interviewed on several occasions, they insisted that the 4 of them only got together because of <Meteor Garden>, and that they hope that come the future, each of them will be able to identify his own goals and work towards that. But even though the disbandment of F4 is at hand, the 4 of them cannot avoid the possibility of working together again, because the commercial contracts they signed with Pepsi and S&K were signed under the name of F4, as such, if the advertisors organises any promotion, the 4 of them will have to come together as F4 again.

Clarification #2

With regards to this question, Zhi Xiang Li feels that "we'll need to have a really long discussion". Because, it seems that till now, others still don't seem to understand the nature of the existence of the group F4. "Initially, the 4 of them is neither a group nor a boyband. In <Meteor Garden>, their roles is that of a group, but when they signed their contracts with us, it was as individuals, and not as a group, hence now we are also waiting for good scripts, good music, only then will they be able to come together as a group.

There may be some concerns raised towards Zhi Xiang Li's answer, because looking at F4's current hectic schedule, it seems almost impossible that the 4 of them will be able to spare some time to come together to film a drama serial, but still, he brought another good news: "We still want to hold concerts. Hopefully by year end or beginning of next year, we'll be able to hold a worldwide tour.

Rumor #3: We did not get others to sing on behalf

Another recent issue is that recently, while being interviewed by a HongKong radio station, Luo Da Yuo announced publicly that he does not like F4, because entertainment factor stood 90% of F4's music, making it totally different from actual music. He even said that a friend told him that when F4 sings the harmonization part of their songs, it's not totally sang by them alone, but got others to sing on their behalf.

Clarification #3

With regards to Luo's criticisms, Zhi Xiang Li insisted that they did not get others to sing and emphasized that that's only back-up vocals: "You all also listen to a lot of cds, actually nowadays back-up vocals need not be sang by yourself, you can employ professional back-up singers to sing it for you, but the main vocal is still sang by themselves. Be it Jay Chou, Jolin Cai or Elva Hsiao, they also employed professional back-up singers to act as their back-up vocals!"

As for the part about entertainment factor exceeding that of real music, F4's album producer Liu Tian Jian said adamantly the other day that the music industry itself is an entertainment industry, and F4 is an entertainment group, entertainment is a singer's responsibility. Compared to Liu's outburst, Zhi Xiang Li's answer is much more polite: "Everyone has his/her own standard towards appreciating any songs, he's a senior, of course we will thank him for his guidance and comments."

Then will F4 change their music direction because of this? Zhi Xiang Li feels that: "We can't do anything about this, because there's always so many comments, F4's fans feel that their songs are very nice, we'll not change their music direction just because Teacher Luo said that their songs contain too much of the entertainment factor, what if we change the type of music they do, and the fans feel that their songs are not nice, then what are we to do? But of course, we'll still look for songs that suit the 4 of them.

Vanness is currently in LA busy with his album. This is directly from his mom, Mimi Yao, owner of Vivid Beauty Salon and Spa. He'll be cutting the ribbon for the new Vivid salon at Alhambra then will leave on the 22, back to Taiwan.

Vanness in 3-night concert with 'Starstruck' stars

Translation:

It is confirmed that Vanness Wu will be having a three-night solo concert. He will perform first in Expo Filipino, Clark Pampanga on the 26th of March. Next is in Araneta Coliseum on the 27th. Last stop will in Abellana Sports Complex, Cebu City on March 29.

Phoenix Productions would like to inform everyone that this is a solo concert by Vanness Wu and it isn't true that Jerry Yan or Ken Chu will be joining him. The title of the show is Starstruck with Vanness because there is a possibility that Vanness will be joined by some Starstruck members if GMA7 will permit. The participation of the said artists are still under negotiation, but since Channel 7 is the media partner of the producer, it is possible that Jennylyn Mercado and Mark Herras could join Vanness. Aside from them, there are also two other Filipino guest singers in the concert of the F4 member.

It is just intriguing since there were some fans of F4 who got angry when Dingdong Dantes mentioned that Starstruck finalist are the reason why the Taiwanese group disappeared and then now they will be taking part in Vanness' concert.

Hebe and Vanness' First Kiss:

Hebe had to give up her first onscreen kiss during <<Qiu Hui Shi Wu Suo>>'s filming. Known for her lively character and humour, Hebe suddenly got all serious during the kissing scene. When Vanness began to kiss her gently, Hebe blushed and couldn't continue. NG continued one after another, Director Niu had to threaten her with: "If you don't get this right, I'm going to change this to a tongue-kiss." Hebe was scared: "No way!"

In the serial, Vanness is a enterpreneur, who falls in love with a dancer - Hebe. Their difference in status makes this love story interesting. To prove his point and his heart, Vanness decides to use a kiss to prove his love. The first kiss was filmed near a karaoke place on the corner of Lin Seng Bei Road during dinner time. Lots of shop keepers came to watch the show.

Under the eyes of the audience, Hebe could not get into the moment. She was fidgeting and her expressions were forced. After 10 takes, she was still unsuccessful. The director had to do a live demonstration by using his fist as Vanness' face to teach Hebe how to kiss naturally.

Vanness, who is a very experienced kisser, became the teacher and taught Hebe how to get into the moment. Hebe laughs and says that the more serious Vanness is the more she wants to laugh. Everytime when they get to the crucial moment, she would burst out laughing, and Vanness was full of question marks?? Asking her, "What are you laughing about?"

However, even though kissing scenes were hard on Hebe, the crying scenes came naturally. One scene where she has to cry to her father, when she got into the rhythm, she could cry when she was told. The co-workers were really moved by her tears.

For an actor starting his debut in a movie, getting a recognition from a critic is an absolute dream. This is experienced by Vanness Wu, one of F4 member, whose acting in Star Runner receives a nomination for "Best Newcomer" in HK movie award.

Vanness was in USA, recording his 2nd album when the news was announced. During his spare time, he would spend it with his siblings and friends playing basketball games.

Towards the nomination, Vanness commented,"Of course I'm delighted. Hopefully in the next movie, my acting would improve more with various different characters.

More surprisingly, Vanness has to compete against his best bud, Jerry who receives the exact nomination. However, the rumours of bad relationship between them vanishes as Vanness immediately congratulated Jerry on his nomination. "There was absolutely no unhealthy competition between us."

Lately, despite enjoying his freedom in USA, Vanness admits that he misses Taiwan and his buds, F3. "I miss them all, except the food. Taiwan's food really taste heavenly and I really have to restrict myself, otherwise, I'd put on weight easily."

F4's Manager's View On The Boys Themselves:

On screen, idols are fully packaged and always show their best. However, not many know what they get up to or are like behind the camera. Let's find out what F4's manager - Zhi Xiang Li has to say about F4:

Each member's personality is very different, ZZ might look dumb from appearance but is very clever and know what everyone thinks. When he is unhappy, he would be really quite. You have to find out from someone else the reason behind his mood. Then friends would try to get him out for a chat or send sms to him. ZZ is very honest and can be very mature. The most important thing is that he does not bring his mood into the workplace, personal things and work are separated clearly.

Jerry is a perfectionist. He works very hard, hence wishes that everyone can do the same, that's how misunderstandinds occur. Jerry is not wasteful, when you go out to eat with im, he requests that everyone eat what is ordered, otherwise he thinks its a waste. Jerry stills rides his old bike, as he does not want to "shu da zhao feng." When he rides, he wears a helmet, so no one recognises him, and is very safe.

Vanness has big plans and is very generous to everyone, however, as he is an ABC, he deals with things differently compared to the Taiwanese boys. For example, when not working, he is very relaxed and wears casual clothes and no accessories. He focuses on actual tasks not people, and is very competitive. But honestly, he works very hard.

Ken is too much of a 'naturalist'. Even during filming, he likes to be in nature. He also likes to cook and has traveled may palces to learn from the best. Once when F4 went to Thailand, TV stations' boss gave him a gold necklace, with a market value of at least $50 000, the day before leaving, Ken gave it to his body guard as a present - everyone was very shocked.

Lin Yi Chen first time working with F2

After Meteor Garden Part 2, Vanness and Ken maybe working together again to film a new serial called "Soccer Kids". The female lead actress was said to be Lin Yi Chen who has the highest vote for this serial.

The producer Xiong Xiu Zhen expressed that F4 has lots of fans in both Taiwan and Mainland. She planned to work with Shanghai Television using F4 as the main lead actors in this serial. But due to Jerry focus more on movies and Zaizai was busying filming "Mars", all of their schedule can't meet so they have confirmed Vanness and Ken as the main lead actors for this serial, whereas Lin Yi Chen as the female lead actresss.

Isn't this exciting????

Anyway, since the dates are confirmed. So here is how this would probably go so everyone can PLAN, PLAN, PLAN!

March 26 would probably be Manila, then off to Pampanga on the 27th. Clark Expo is the biggest decent venue. It's about an hour's drive from Manila.

Or could be the other way around. First night is Pampanga. Then Manila.

Then off to Cebu on the 28th. The one day gap before the March 29th concert in Cebu is needed because Vanness has to fly to Cebu. A monday night concert??? Possible if school is out already...

Heard Vanness is leaving LA on March 24th so he should be on Philippine shores on March 25th!

Hey, these are just how I imagined his itinerary would be so don't quote me!
