I have seen a picture of Japan's F4 compared to Taiwan's F4. Does Japan have a version of Meteor Garden?

Yeah Japan has their own version of Meteor Garden... Two actually, the real drama series (with the Japanese cast) + hana Yori Dango (anime) ... THat's where the Taiwanese Drama orginated from.

I've read once about the cast of the Japanese Drama but if you ask me, nothing compares to the F4 of Taiwan. kekeke

i've seen both dramas...i derno who i prefer more..the story plot differed a little but i loved both...and i also loved the characters for both xDD i mean..i love vanness and vic but i also love matsujun and oguri shun ^^

hmmm..actually, the japanese f4 resembles the original f4 more...but then again, theyre both jap. so that would make sense >_>

well, no offence...but the only good-looking one in the Japanese cast is the one who plays Hanazawa Rei...but maybe it's just because it's a bit old so their hairstyles are a bit old...but yea...I think the Taiwanese F4 are much more good looking...

japan's F4 is nothing like taiwan's F4...Taiwan's f4 is so much better. japan's f4 you can see that the cast looks a bit like the manga but other than that they're not cute at all..

As for looks, I'd say the Taiwan's are better. But the Japanese ones made me love the series AND the characters......well, except Tsukasa cause he's evil in the Jap one. But uh, I am too biased towards MatsuJun....

tha taiwanese F4 win because of their friendship still close after the series but the japan f4 is not a group in reality......but if arashi (matsujun group) act as a F4 i think it will be bombastic...but the problem is there are 5 person in group...so it should be F5. for me the taiwan F4 is reality but japan F4 is just set for the drama...n..arashi is the true f4 with 5 people hahahahaha i'm crazy ne.......

ya the taiwanese F4 is like reality because they formed the group F4 but I kind of think they took that from the drama from HYD...so it's not that original! I mean it's kind of like they couldn't come up with a better name so they decided to use F4 from the drama...but then again this is just my opinion...

I never liked the taiwanese F4 group...hmm but if we were to compared them in terms of looks...I guess the taiwanese F4 does look somewhat better...but in terms of acting definitely japanese F4!

Mehhh..... forget taiwanese F4 for me... I've always disliked them and I probably won't ever like them. Never watched Meteor Gardens though, so I'm not going to say anything about it. I just don't like them, so don't go bashing at me about it or start questioning me about it...... (realize I didn't use the word... "hate"..?) But you know, I guess why I dislike taiwanese F4 so much is because of their packaging... don't the Chinese ever realize it's not mostly about the looks? Mannn... but I guess there's always people falling for the packaging, so that's what makes Chinese entertainment so successful up until now... totally pisses me off.

I'm 100% voting for Jap. F4... but technically, they're not pure "Jap" F4. Isn't Abe Tsuyoshi (guy as Akira) half Chinese...? And Matsuda Shota (Sojiro.. or the tea guy XD) studied aboard (okay, well.. he's japanese)...? Oh, what the hell... and yes, I agree Oguri Shun looks really good-looking here... As for MatsuJun, it's pretty much just the Domyouji hair pulling him down. He's a real sweetheart if you give him a chance.

they are both unique in thier own wayzzzz.....have to give cridit for both groups.... but also have to admit in lookwise hands down for the taiwan f4...in actingwise hands down for the japan f4...(they were more convincing as f4)....

i think i like both F4's in general as a group but when it gets down to acting and the actual drama, i like Hana Yori Dango better. I mean like F4 is supposed to be really rich and I think the Japanese F4 captures that better than Taiwan's F4.

Definitely Japanese F4 for me...nobody else, not even Jerry whom I liked very much, can possibly be Domyouji/DMS after Jun's perfect portrayal.

I didn't like Abe and Matsuda at all at first, but after a while they grew on me too, and I prefer them to Vanness and Ken now.

As for Shun, I like him, but I'll always like Zaizai just that bit better.

But overall, J.F4 takes the crown. C'mon, their acting is about ten levels higher than T.F4!

I so agree with you because we both like matsujun! but really, when the taiwanese F4 came out...I had no interest in them....like almost all my friends were like going crazy over him...but meh, I thought they were really weird/not so special...many ppl are comparing to them to the japanese F4 and saying how the look very gay/weird with their clothes...but really, they just wanted to match it with the manga...if you guys watch shun and matsujun in their other jdoramas...u actually might like them!! But what really annoys me is the fact that the taiwanese F4 is using "F4" from the drama as their group name...I mean c'mon can't they come up with a better name?? about the tea guy and abe...I've seen a interview about them on youtube...ya they're so cool..they're the youngest compared to shun and matsujun....the tea guy studied in england...he has really good english...haha he's also very shy around girls and according to shun he doesn't drink beer! lol and abe yes....I think they found him from taiwan or something and asked him to be in HYD...his mandarin is so good tho...I honestly like the japanese F4 more!

I would have to say taiwan's F4...i rkn looks wise, taiwan wins by heaps....well...if ur talking about how they looked during the meteor garden times...now they're not as good.....jap F4 if you look closely, none of them are amazingly handsome or hot...altho jun and oguri are quite cute...but personally, when the taiwanese F4 came out, i fell in love with zai zai's extremely cute looks and jerry's "coolness" and ken and vanness weren't that bad either...so...go go taiwanese F4!!!!

I would choose Japan. And no, there is no such thing as Japan F4, those actors came from separate bands. Taiwan's F4---there is no talent behind it, and yeah, F4 have looks, but for the talent, you have to go with Japan.

I think the Japanese F4 is cuter! Especially Oguri Shun! But the Taiwanese F4 is an actual singing group.

i use to love taiwan's F4 but than the more i watched them the more i thought they were kind of feminine or metrosexual which is not my type. altho they are still special to me since they were the first to expose me to F4. japan's F4 are ok but i love Oguri Shun (the guy that plays Rui or Lei). he's the type of guy that i'd definitely go for. he should have been the one who played DMS or Domouyji (sp?) but Jun is ok too. so overall i have to say that they are both the same other than Oguri Shun, he's the best of all F4s'.

when i say japan or taiwan F4, i'm referring to the characters and actors who play them not the guys as a F4 group because japan doesn't have F4 but actors that played the F4 guys in the drama HYD. hopefully you understand that. so don't know if you can really compare japan F4 and taiwan F4 other than how well the actors played the characters.

Taiwanese F4 at least got together to act first. I really enjoyed them. As for the Japanese version, it was more a parade of fashion idols. Not impressed.

err don't just see the looks.. i din fancy japan's f4 until i watched them act.. actually it is just matsujun who really won me over!! haha.. his acting is superb!! tsukushi's acting is not bad too =D

You probably don't know the jap F4 because technically, they're only partners in a drama and unlike TW F4, they're not involved in any other forms of the media together.

...someone mentioned TW F4 got together to act first. True, but it's just that TW beat Jap to the live action version first and made it awefully huge. Still, how I view it was that Jap originally had the idea first (the manga)... so Jap still rules..? ' And MatsuJun & Shun-kun still rules! XD

Yeah and the thing about the Jap F4, they look really ugly when you first see them, it's like WTH?!...but as you see more of them they grow on you, especially Matsujun! When I forced my friends to watch HYD they were all ganging up on him at first, saying he had fish lips and looked like a frog, etc. and now they're having to eat their words because they've all become Matsujun fans. HAH! Lol.

During when Meteor Garden first aired with T-F4, I'd definitely say they looked hotter than the J-F4...now they're not so great. Acting of course, was better depicted by the J-F4. Honestly IMO only Vic & Jerry in MG and Matsujun in HYD were hot.

Taiwan F4 is definitely cuter than Japan F4, and Taiwan F4 feels more complete as a group too. But the Japanese "Hana Yori Dango" drama was pretty good too. Drama-wise, its hard for me to pick between Meteor Garden and HYD.

so what re we trying to compare, HYD and MG or the characters themselves? it's hard to compare the 2 F4's since the jap F4's not really a singing group. they're just actors chosen to play F4 while the taiwanese F4 really became a grp. but if it's in terms of the portrayal of the characters of F4 i would have to go w/ the japs since they were more "loyal" to the manga. that explains the aweful matsujun/doumyoji hairstyle. another thing is that the jap production put in more effor to make their F4 look really rich. so acting-wise Jap F4 and HYD wins.

I'm pretty sure that's the case... Tsuyoshi is a Mainland (Chinese) actor, so I doubt he'll have anything to do with singing... Shota, I "heard" was Jun's friend's brother (connectionssss!! XD), so I think that's how he got to act in the drama in the first place (it WAS Shota's first drama, correct me if I'm wrong)...? And Shun-kun... ummm... never heard of him in a band or whatever the case is.

Japanese F4 and Meteor Garden... was done too seriously. It was like they tried too hard to try and beat the Taiwanese version. I mean... nobody knew that the original F4 was going to be that popular and same with Meteor Garden right?? But it was like a HUGE success and will forever be a classic in people's minds. I saw both versions and Hana Yori Dango was actually boring to me. Although Oguri Shun is sooo hot<3 it wasn't able to beat Meteor Garden for me.

If HYD had been twice as long, I think it would have been about ten times better than MG..now it's probably only twice as good because of its length.

Taiwanese F4 can definitely model. Acting and singing are extremely subjective. (Not to mention it's not quite a valid argument anyway because Matsujun at least can act onscreen, act live, sing, dance and host adequately)

I think both F4s have their good points (T.F4 being much taller and Jerry/Zaizai can definitely take on the J.F4 where looks are concerned) but talentwise, J.F4 hands down.

After hearing about the series, I was first shocked that anyone would try do a remake of MG. But at the same time, very curious about how they were going to do it.
At the first glance of the Jap. HYD, I thought how could this possibly be better than MG (trying to remain loyal to ZaiZai... haha). But it HYD turned out to be pretty good.

It was definitely good cuz it was short... didnt drag on and on like MG. Jap. Actors can definitely act!!! They *actually* conveyed emotions!!

when F4 (taiwan) did MG, they had no background at acting at all, except maybe for vaness, but just look at jerry... he was a MODEL, not actor, vic was just there, you know, with his friend. he wasn't even planning on auditioning. OF COURSE, japanese ACTORS woule be much better in acting, maybe then... but look at how they've improved now. after MG I, you could see even in MG II (though I like MGI better) that their acting skills have improved.

Strongly Agree with you..I never like Taiwan F4..I think its there hair bugs me!..and same I would never like them either..I wanted to watch MG but later I end up not watching because the F4 is in it............I totally Love Japanese F4 i'm only talking bout actors acting as F4 not the real F4 cuz japanese doesn't have one.. in Hana YOri Dango..they were the only guys kept me watching HYD!.other then that i would never watch HYD!..

Honestly, I tried to watch Taiwan's F4 and it cut it for me. All the guys (except for the one who played Lei) were..not so attractive to me. I made the mistake of watching Japan's version first and fell for all four of them mostly MatsuJun. I thought I would like Taiwan's version, since it's the original, but it's too hard for me to force myself to like it. And plus, Japanese doramas are much much shorter xD

i think taiwan F4 is better because I've never seen yet the japanese version of F4 but in my opinion Taiwan F4 there the best .
